There is no word if his hand will be reattached or not.

PoliticsEFCC Arraigns Tompolo, Akpobolokemi’s Brothers In Absentia No Comments by Blackberrybabes(op): 6:43am On Apr 19, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday arraigned a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, in absentia on 22 counts of fraud amounting to N47.6bn.
Also arraigned in absentia in relation to the alleged fraud were six brothers of a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime and Safety Agency, Patrick Akpobolokemi – Igo, Julius, Victor, Norbert, Emmanuel and Clement.

Tompolo, Igo, Julius, Victor, Norbert, Emmanuel and Clement were declared as being “now at large” when the charges were read before a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday.
But Akpobolokemi himself, two females, Josephine Otuaga and Rita Uruakpa and one Kime Engozu, who were also listed as defendants in the amended charge, were present in court on Monday to answer to the charges.
The other defendants in the charge were six companies, namely: Mieka Dive Training Institute Ltd./GTE; Oyeinteke Global Network Ltd.; Wabod Global Resources Ltd.; Boloboere Properties Estate Ltd.; Gokaid Marine Oil and Gas Ltd.; and Watershed Associated Resources.

The charges bordered on conspiracy, advanced fee fraud and money laundering.
In one of the counts, the EFCC alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves to defraud the Federal Government between December 2, 2014 and April 10, 2015, by inducing the Federal Government to deliver N11.9bn to them.

The EFCC claimed that the accused persons induced the Federal Government by “falsely pretending to the Federal Government that a parcel of land and its appurtenances situated at Mieka Dive Training Institute, Kurutie, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State had been acquired by NIMASA for the temporary campus of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko.”

By allegedly making fraudulent and false representations to the Federal Government, the EFCC said the defendants violated Section 1 (b) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and other fraud related offences Act, 2006 and were liable to punishment under Section 1(3) of the same Act.
In another count, the EFCC accused the defendants of fraudulently converting N13,027,564,822 belonging to NIMASA to theirs in 2014.

The offence is said to be contrary to Section 18 (a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012.
The defendants were also accused of swindling the Federal Government to the tune of N11.940bn, by presenting a forged Certificate of Customary Right of Occupancy of Bendel State of Nigeria, dated May 6, 2014, to NIMASA on the false claim that the forged document was genuine and issued by the Warri South-West Local Council, Delta State.

For the alleged offence, the EFCC said the defendants were liable to being punished under Section 1(2)(c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap. M17, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
But Akpobolokemi and his alleged accomplices pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba, subsequently admitted them to bail.

Akpobolokemi, who had earlier been arraigned along with others by the EFCC at two different times before Justice Buba, was allowed to continue with a bail granted him by the judge on March 22, 2016.
The 2nd defendant, Engozu, who had also been earlier arraigned, was also allowed to continue with the bail granted him on March 22, 2016.
The 3rd and 4th defendants, – Otuaga and Uruakpa – were granted a N50m bail each with one surety in like sum.

The judge said the surety must be resident in Lagos and must own a developed landed property and swear to an affidavit of means.
The defendants and the sureties were asked to submit their passport photographs to the court.
Further proceedings in the case were adjourned till May 30 and 31, 2016.

PoliticsSoldiers Arrest 92 Armed Herdsmen In Abuja by Blackberrybabes(op): 6:29am On Apr 19, 2016
The soldiers of the Guards Brigade of the Nigeria Army have arrested 92 Fulani herdsmen in Abuja.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations of the Guards Brigade, Capt. Bashir Jajira, said that 36 of the suspects were arrested by the troops at a military checkpoint between the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State.

The suspected herdsmen were said to have told the soldiers that they were on a mission to recover their stolen cows.
He said that 56 others who were also armed were arrested by the soldiers at a military checkpoint at Dantata, along the Abuja Airport Road.

He said that the troops recovered ‘one pump action gun, 19 cartridge dane guns, 118 cartridge ammo, 28 cutlasses, 3 jack knives, 14 sticks, 7 torch lights, certificate of occupancy, assorted charms and hard drugs.’
He said, “A group of 36 herdsmen in Diana Truck and Toyota Camry car with registration number Abu Kuje 994 FX and Niger SUL 541 XA were intercepted and arrested at 177 Guards Battalion location by Keffi checkpoint.

“During the interrogation by troops at the checkpoint, they claimed to be going to Nasarawa Local Government in Nasarawa State.”
He said that the arrested herdsmen would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
This came just as President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the deployment of military to all parts of the country currently witnessing bloody clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this while featuring on a breakfast programme of Channels Television, Sunrise Daily, on Monday.

The programme was monitored by one of our correspondents in Abuja.
Shehu said there was no truth in the claim that Buhari had been largely silent on the issue of the clashes.
He recalled that the President had taken the issue before the National Council of State with a view to getting state governors’ inputs to the solutions.
In the meantime, he said the government was contemplating carving out of grazing reserves for cattle rearers.

Meanwhile, no fewer than 23,000 Internally Displaced Persons in the Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State are battling with the problem of shelter as the rains set in.
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Agatu Local Government Area, Mr. Joseph Ngbede, stated this on Monday when Governor Samuel Ortom visited Ugbokpo, Ojantele and Ataganyi communities of the Apa Local Government Area, where the camps of the IDPs are located.
The IDPs are Benue indigenes displaced during the clashes involving Fulani herdsmen and Agatu people.

Ngbede said that only the LGEA Primary School at Ayila was standing in the over 20 villages destroyed in Agatu by herdsmen, maintaining that some of the displaced persons insisted on going to their farms to see what was left of their crops.
On the feeding of the displaced persons, the chairman said the items donated by individuals, government and non-governmental organisations as well as emergency management agencies at the state and at federal levels were being distributed to them on a daily basis.

He said those not displaced were also contributing towards the upkeep of the IDPs.
He explained that the three villages of Ocholonya, Abugbe and Odugbeho that were occupied by herdsmen had been secured by soldiers.
Meanwhile, the state’s deputy governor, Benson Abounu, has said that Agatu people have been rescued by soldiers.

It was reported earlier on that Wizkid reported to the office of the Lagos State commissioner of Police after he was being summoned as a result of the threat he made on Linda Ikeji. She has also come out to talk about what actually transpired at the office of the Commissioner of Police today.

She writes :

So, I am going to write about this Wizkid matter for the very last time. Anything else
after this will no longer concern me. So Wizkid and I met with the Commissioner of
Police today and when the Commissioner asked me what I wanted them to do with the
case...I told him that I wanted peace. And the reason why I insisted on peace and not
to drag the matter further i.e go to court, is because Wizkid and his lawyers have been
apologizing since Friday, up until today!

I spoke with Wizkid through his lawyer on Friday April 15th where he tendered an
apology to me and said he wasn't a violent person, that he didn't mean what he said,
that it was just an emotional outburst. And then he asked for forgiveness. Please
continue...
But despite forgiving him, he still had to show up at the Police HQ to officially apologize
and write an undertaken which he did today.
I see a lot of negativity has come out of this case with Wizkid - with many folks
bashing me for reporting a threat on my person. But here's my consolation and why I
am glad this happened. I promise you, especially the ladies, Wizkid will never threaten
you with harm again. At least not in public. I believe I am the last bus stop.

He will think twice before threatening another human being again on social media. A police file
has been opened for him, and he has been cautioned. The day he threatens another
human being again with harm, then...
Having said that, I turned down taking a photo with him and the police commissioner
this afternoon. One of his people took a pic of him and the commissioner with me in it
and my people insisted they delete it. Not because I haven't forgiven him, I just don't
need the extra drama.

I wish Wizkid all the best and will continue to celebrate him.
God bless us all.

CrimeFalse Alarm: Family Of 6 Escape Death by Blackberrybabes(op): 7:10am On Apr 18, 2016
If not for the wealth of experience of Police Inspector, Christian Onawona, attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, six innocent people including two children, would have been shot and mistook as robbers by operatives at Ogudu Ori-Oke, Ogudu, Lagos.

A woman, Lauretta Ehon, suddenly ran to inform RRS operatives patrolling the axis at about 17:30 hrs over the weekend, that some armed robbers just snatched her Toyota Camry car 2012.

Immediately, the police officer followed her to give the supposed fleeing robbers a chase.
On the trail of the robbers, there was a hectic traffic but in order to catch up with the thieves, the officer alighted from his official vehicle and mounted a motor bike to chase the acclaimed reported robbers.
However, the occupants of the car, which was being chased never had an inkling that they were on the verge of being mistook for robbery and that the police was trailing them.
In order to prevent the robbers from taking the vehicle with registration number, EP 932 KRD away, the officer shot into air. Upon hearing the gunshot fired by the officer, the driver of the vehicle applied the brake instantly.
Then, the police officer cautiously approached the supposedly stolen vehicle only to discover that the occupants were three female, one male and two children. At this point, the police officer got to know that the complainant raised a false alarm.

The occupants of the vehicle were, Sekinat Sanni, Wasiu Balogun, Bisola Balogun and Rukayat Joseph. The little children were, Sameer Balogun and Motunrayo Joseph of one and two year old respectively, all family going on social outing.

The story later turned out to be faraway from the truth.

What really transpired between the woman that raised false alarm and the owner of the 2012 Camry car was a mere business transaction which occurred about six years ago.
The husband to the woman who raised the false alarm and the owner of the car transacted a business which had to do with clearing of a Tokunbo car from oversea.
Unfortunately, the vehicle went into demurrage after the client (Mr Ehon) paid the clearing agent, (Mr Balogun). And between the duo, they have settled the matter amicably for both of them worked in the same company in Apapa.
But to his paranoid wife, she had promised that she will collect the money from the clearing agent whenever she
sets eyes on him.
On the day of incident, the woman saw him and started threatening to snuff life out of him. But unknowingly to the woman, the man was not inside the car when she raised the false alarm but his family members were the occupants of the car.

In her reaction, one of the lucky occupants of the car, Bisola Balogun, who was visibly elated said that she was full of praises to the officer who pursued them for not have misused his firearm.
“In fact, I am still at shock. If it were to be another police officer, it is possible that he might shoot our car and anything could have happened. We thank God and appreciate the officer for applying uncommon wisdom in handling the matter”, she added.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Dolapo Badmos, the police officer showed experience and bravery in handling the issue, if not for him, the entire event could have turned against the police.
The woman has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for prosecution.

Politics‘why I’m Angry With Buhari’ – Audu Maikori Writes by Blackberrybabes(op): 6:30am On Apr 18, 2016
I am angry! During the last elections Nigerian youth were galvanized and they voted massively for change from the previous administration!

The results showed the role the youth played in effecting this victory for the ruling party. So when there was a delay in ministerial announcements I was hoping that it meant that PMB was searching for few of these young men to bring into his cabinet, ginger up the place, launch new ideas, change from being seen as a ‘Northern President’ to a Pan Nigerian President, but of course this didn’t happen many of them were soon discarded and instead they were quickly relegated to media trumpeters, good for retweeting, taking pictures and releasing press materials to the public but not for much else.

Not one ministerial position was given to any person below 40! Indeed the youngest Minister is 48 years! Some of you may justify this by saying that age isn’t a thing, or that Buhari couldn’t find younger and more experienced people below that age- but remember that Buhari was 41 when he became Head of State in 1984! Meaning his ministers were between 30-40 years old, yet in his second coming he chose people from the ages of 50- 70 as his team!

Now if we are practicing democracy why shouldn’t the majority have their way? If 60% of Nigerians are Youth it means that 119Million Nigerians are below the age 35 but not even 10% of the present cabinet are youth! How is this fair representation?

The term ‘youth’ is like a disadvantaged group similar to widows or orphans as they consider any positions or opportunities given to youth as ‘CSR’ or a ‘favour’ all very patronizing.
But the question is who made Nigeria the biggest African economy today? Was it the 70-40 year olds? No, It is the youth! The greatest opportunity Nigeria has today is its youthful population! Yet the Youth can only have their say( online), while the ‘adults’ have their way (On ground). That makes me angry.

You Should be Angry!

Young man and young woman – the implications of this are enormous- it means that the people who were ministers in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s where about 25- 40 year olds, yet today very few people under the age of 30 have even held a local government chairmanship position! So are we moving forward or backwards?

These ‘Adults’ determine how you live, but you say you are free! They collect taxes, fines, incentives etc and they accept the monies happily with no thought of your ‘age’ or ‘inexperience but if you ask for a chance to shape and make the future of Nigeria they tell you to hold on, you are too young!

But you aren’t too young to donate to their campaigns abi? You aren’t too young to die for their candidates’ abi? But has any of them died for you? You are only good as social media consultants because they don’t understand technology not because they would ordinarily have hired you otherwise.

You are good as re-branding consultants abi? But when its time to help rebrandNigeria, we hire foreign firms to do that. The youth won the war but they didn’t get any of the booty from the spoils.

The Gods Are not to blame…

But I don’t blame them; I blame you! Because your sole aspiration in life is to make money, be famous, drive a nice car, get married, and go for summer in London with the kids!

You have never thought of sacrificing your luxuries for a greater cause- that of the future of your country which incidentally includes your London bound kids. So you would rather leave politics/governance because its a ‘dirty’ game abi? You don’t want to get your hands soiled abi? Well if politics is dirty game, why cant you be the hand wash? Why can’t you be the disinfectant?
Instead you leave people who proclaim their patriotism (by mouth only) but were also ready to sacrifice their immediate comfort for a greater prize- ‘elected office’ dirt and all and the sad thing is that half of them aren’t as educated, passionate or as innovative as you are but what they lacked in those areas they made up for through their willingness to consult, mobilize, finance, convince and win people over with their words and promises- the result of which is that they become your leaders and you their subjects.

That’s not where it stops, it means that they can determine whether or not you will remain in business, or whether you can set up a business at all or how your family lives, how they are educated, how you are taxed etc. Hell they can determine if you can even get FOREX to spend when you eventually go to London for ‘family holidays’.

I am angry at the Facebook warriors and the Twitterati who’s passion for their own future is epitomized by frantic retweets, rants and online brawls which either complain, soliloquize or attack people purely on partisan matters which even they do not clearly understand. They are mere pawns in the game.

I am angry…. because I am one of them! So I am very guilty too!
We the people of this country called Nigeria submit that we were all created equal and no man or woman should be discriminated against as a result of religion, ethnic bias, education, lineage and most especially age. It’s time for our people to take responsibility for the future of this country, it’s time to stop blaming President Buhari, GEJ, OBJ and all the other past leaders for the past failures because that’s what the word connotes- its past!

Stop shouting APC or PDP is better because it’s a lie. they are the same! It’s the same players who just changed their jerseys!

It’s time to fight for the future because that’s all we have left and time is not on our side and they will not hand it over to us easily, we have to wrest it from them. That’s after all how it happens in real life. That’s how they got it from the colonial masters and lets be honest if you were in their shoes you would do the same.

PS: If you are angry and want to do something about it please email me:aamaikori@gmail.com Thanks

PoliticsFayose's Anti-china Loan: Odigie-oyegun & Oni React by Blackberrybabes(op): 6:14am On Apr 18, 2016
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has criticised the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, and other opposition leaders over their comments on President Muhammadu Buhari’s foreign trips, describing their statements as insensitive.

Odigie-Oyegun and the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the APC, Chief Segun Oni, also said that the governor’s letter to the Chinese government not to grant Nigeria a $2bn loan was a display of ignorance on issues affecting the country by Fayose.

Odigie-Oyegun, who stated this while speaking with journalists in Benin on Sunday, noted that critics opposed to the nation’s growth and development were bent on frustrating the efforts of the APC-led administration and the President to rescue the country from the ongoing fuel crisis and revitalise the ailing economy.

Fayose had last week written a letter to the Chinese government, asking it to shun President Buhari’s proposal to secure a $2bn loan for Nigeria.

The governor, in his letter to President Xi Jinping of China, said Nigerians were “totally opposed to increment of the country’s debt burden, which is already being serviced with 25 per cent of the Federal Government annual budget.

Ayodele Fayose
Ayodele Fayose
“The government of China should be mindful of the fact that Nigerians, irrespective of their political and religious affiliations, are totally opposed to increment of the country’s debt burden, which is already being serviced with 25 per cent of the Federal Government annual budget.”

But the APC national chairman said, “Most people do not recognise the very sorry state of the nation’s economy and the fact that the country’s economy was ran aground and the crashed economy which contributed in no small measure towards the crash of crude oil from N120 per barrel to a miserable N30 to N40 per barrel at the international market.

“I hope Fayose did not really do what we are told he did. I don’t think even he is capable as descending into these low depths. But if he did, I feel sorry for him and the people of the state. Nigerians should ask Fayose what he was doing in China. Anyway, we are not bothered; the President is not bothered.”

In a statement from his Media Office, Oni said Fayose needed spiritual deliverance from emotional bondage.

Oni said, “Governor Fayose was in his characteristic state of hallucination when he wrote the letter and claimed, while reveling in his world of ecstatic fantasy, to be voicing the opinion of Nigerians.

“Fayose’s seemingly strange behaviour is not strange to people like us, as he is only behaving to type.

“We called the attention of the people to his conduct years ago, during his first term as governor, after the under-the-barb-wire drama at the airport, that any governor, who chooses to pass under the barb-wire at an international airport, whatever the circumstance, cannot be a normal person and should have his fitness for the exalted office ascertained.”

Oni added that his opinion about the governor, in this regard, had not changed.

He appealed to “sincere associates of Governor Fayose, who love him genuinely, to take steps towards affirming his emotional and psychological stability in order to save him from himself.”

Odigie-Oyegun also maintained that having won the 2015 presidential election on the basis of his personal integrity, experience and “the respect he (Buhari) commands, not only in the country but also across the world, President Buhari is on a mission to rescue the nation from her present socio-political and economic challenges.”

He said, “In a situation where the world has become a global village, where a rapid revival depends on the understanding of the rest of the world, the President has taken his prestige and time around the whole world to polish our image which has been badly damaged in order to make it possible for world leaders to want to deal with a new Nigeria and to get the type of resources and the expertise that we need badly.”

Defending Buhari’s foreign trips, Odigie-Oyegun added, “We do not have the resources to take down to revive the economy. So, what the President is doing is at great inconveniences to his person. Don’t forget that he was a military officer, he trained abroad and he had been to most parts of the world, it is not as if he is entertaining joy in spending sleepless days in one country to another.

“Everything he has done, including the foreign tours, is to gather all the support that is necessary to make a dramatic impact on the condition of Nigeria as quickly as possible.”

“The countries he has visited are critical to peace in Nigeria or to our economic speedy revival. The long and short of it is that Mr. President is getting the world to respect and know the new Nigeria and to be ready to help to revive the Nigerian economy,” he added.

University of Maiduguri, Borno State, on Saturday presented first-class degree certificates to 172 students of the institution during its 22nd combined convocation.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, who, according to the News Agency of Nigeria announced this at the ceremony, said 37, 259 students, comprising five sets of students from 2009 to 2015, graduated at the convocation.

“It is gratifying to inform you that the university graduated five sets of students from 2009/2010, 2010/2011, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, and 2014/2015 academic sessions from 12 colleges, faculties, distance learning centre and 23 affiliated colleges.
“A total of 37, 259 students were graduated. Out of this, 32, 869 were regular students, 841 students were from affiliated colleges and 3,549 students were from the Distant Learning Programme,’’ Njodi said.

He said the university had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund and Norwegian Embassy to work out a programme on de-radicalisation of repentant members of the Boko Haram terrorists group.
“There is a strong partnership between the university and the UNICEF on safe schools project.
“In this regard, the university will continue to explore all avenues for support and collaborations,’’ Njodi said.

He said there were plans by the university to organise an international conference on Boko Haram terrorism to facilitate research into the mystery behind the group.
According to him, the move is pursuant to President Muhammadu Buhari’s call during his inaugural speech on the need to conduct an in-depth research towards understanding the Boko Haram insurgency.
He said it was also consistent with “our mandate of solving societal problems through research.’’

Among the pardoned inmates were 79 being tried for capital offences.
Three of the freed inmates had been standing trial for over 15 years.

Atilade said the amnesty granted the inmates was in line with her statutory duty to ensure that the prisons were not congested.
She said, “I advise the pardoned inmates to make the best of this amnesty by not returning to criminal activities.”
The chief judge solicited the support of all relevant stakeholders in the justice system in the effort to decongest the prisons.

Atilade was accompanied on the visit by senior judges from the state high court, officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, members of the Nigerian Bar Association, some non-governmental organisations and representatives of the police.
In his remark, the Deputy Controller in charge of the Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Seye Oduntan, thanked the CJ for the amnesty gesture.
Oduntan, who noted that there were still many inmates who deserved pardon, urged the chief judge to ensure the continuity of the exercise.

There are 196 countries in the world. I in my wild thoughts feel that President Buhari is fulfilling a lifelong childhood dream of his to visit all the countries on earth. He has visited 29 out of 196, that means 167 countries to go. Expect more visits to the remaining countries on the list and maybe he will travelling to Mars as well.

That is what "Change" means to President Buhari - the ability to visit all the countries of the world for free without selling a single Cow.
