lolz this swings in different ways and i will share 2 experiences.Yesterday on a trip from island to Yaba we were on kofo abayomi and we were close to airforce mess i knew there was traffic on ozumba and also odeku and rider says we should probably divert me i was like na the same traffic eventually i turned to odeku and it haf probably lighter traffic dan ozumba and wen we passed ozumba cos i took under the bridge the rider felt elated that we "avoided" the traffic dere and even gave me great route rating me i happily collect am...fast forward 2 ds morning reverse waka from mainland to V.I . i got to sura and knowing ahamdu bello might be dodgy i hinted to take sura or awolowo but rider insisted on muson na so we reach dere and buhari boys don block road moved on to CMS worse case eventually went back to marina and took idumota back onto sura which i always wanted to do and at some point rider was contemplating okada i was like hmmm okay oh but ride eventually ended on the island and i chopped like 2800 for a usual 1500 waka....
yeah it truly swings different ways. Same yesterday evening, took trip from Onike headed for Opebi, i saw there was traffic on Herbert Macaulay to Jibowu and part of ikorodu road to Maryland/MBA and suggested we take alternate route which rider obliged. I went through Fola agoro, came out at Palmgroove, service lane to Anthony and took independence tunnel to turn at Ketu interchange and linked Oregun through Ojota.
saved 30 minutes and rider was grateful. its the stubborn ones that will put you in traffic and still bail on you. never again

So some riders did me dirty last night. Taxify request came in as i was dropping off a rider at Classique event centre. Pick up was Alausa bus stop; destination, Isaac John. I checked google map as always, saw full red on Mobolaji Bank Anthony and showed these nonsense ladies but they insisted on going through Opebi link so Opebi link we faced.
In about 8 minutes we got to Sheraton and they saw stand still traffic. Then i started hearing "shey we no go just come down cross go the other side to request another cab like this, this traffic tie wrapper oo"
My cool demeanor changed immediately. I'm pained it wasn't a card trip, i would have shown them we are in this together.

fare was 700 and the idiot still wanted to collect 100 change for the 800 she presented. The look i gave her fah undecided

Moral lesson: put your foot down on routes sometimes, they might even thank you for it eventually

Lol.

it's just reverse psychology. Leave the greater change for them. they believe they are above uber drivers so how will an uber driver leave change for them. they will tell you to keep it.

Be nice always. When you open your booth, help put their loads/bring their loads out. If they got kids, be friendly with them. If they don't have change to give like 100 or 200 leave it for them. Before the end of the day some riders will dash you their change too....
this is actually the truth, leave the 200 and move on instead of wasting time looking for change. most riders leave their change anyway. Lekki guys sef will tip you jara on top

His phone is not the recommended one. His GPS has gone mental.
I experienced this 1st hand last night. Trip from Military hospital Jibowu to Illupeju on 1.6x boost got me N544. Went to check trip detail only to see 0.00km and 18mins for waka of about 10km in 30mins. When trip ended sef, it was showing that i'm at UBA house Marina like WTF shocked shocked

I just went offline and logged fare review. Definitely changing the damned phone today.

10k target ended with 5500

I like the fact that u guys are carrying out feasibility study. Another area u guys need to look into is how to scale out and handle growth when u kick off. Do you want to start with a few x amount of cars and gradually scale out or go big bang??

The more cars you have in your fleet the more difficult management gets. This is a reason companies fail, simply because they failed to plan ahead thereby biting more than they can chew. I am sure a lot of people are waiting for this to kick off because Gazzuzz is involved grin

My 2cents as a potential investor!

BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by blackfm:
I keep seeing XX hours online making just 5 digit income on this thread and i'm not understanding. I have this mindset that i should get at least 2k for every hour i spend online hence 10k shouldn't take more than 5 hours to earn. That's where positioning comes in instead of just waiting for trip in the wrong places.
Then there's the issue of stable connection, drivers on Taxify should have wifi and its shouldn't be optional because once connection goes off you're OYO and customers don't give a hoot. That's how folks end up earning 2500 for a trip that should be at least 4500.

Uber has made it easy, if i'm going online on Uber, there has to be at least 1.2x surge to cushion their high 25% and I can know when and where to be just by checking promotion calendar.
Its also common knowledge that Taxify doesn't pay in traffic yet some folks in traffic prone areas insist on working only with Taxify while some in areas without surge also stick to just Uber. I'm not saying they won't break even but my point is they can make so much more with a little more planning.

It's a business, every driver should look to take advantage of all options and plan proper.

Honestly the biz is saturated. Really not a good time to invest for intending investors. When last did you see a driver advertising that he needs a car to drive on this thread. Car owners are now begging for drivers.

Until uber/taxify implore means of increasing rider base. Just save your money and don't lose that job.
this one is strong..1 trip in almost 4 hours. I'ld chalk this up to positioning entirely coz i'm not understanding. Im not trying to downplay your effort though, i've just never seen this before

I Turned on my app 3weeks ago,
just closed from work, wanted to do a few trips b4 going home.

first request was @ akilo near latter rain. I drove to location, called rider and low and behold it was the boi of my spare part supplier cheesy, he was surprised he said "ah Oga you too de drive uber" I said yes o! I now asked him you to de enter uber? That's when he did the math for me.

4 of them were going on a 5km trip, it would cost them between 400-700naira. It was rush hour, keke was scarce, bikes were unavailable. Keke would charge 1k drop @ this time, but uber with my ac and DVD charged N635 for the trip.

What is happening in lagos is a revolutionary, people are taking advantage of E-hailing business, more riders are coming on board people are getting smarter.

Let me give you a final example.

On Sunday I got a request from around charlie boi bustop area, I called rider and asked the usual where u de go? angry the guy said babcok university please sir can you go? I went to location, carried 4bois and filled up my boot with all their luggage, o traffic, 78km trip. I knew it would not be profitable since there would be no rides back, but we'll I was done for the day, and I wanted to do the long trip any way.

End of trip 5460 naira.

Lagosians have realised that it is cheaper and safer in most cases to use UBER (not taxify) for trips when paired than go with conventional public transport.

The market is growing, there will be space for every one.

some time I get angry when I see a crowd people at the Base of ikeja bridge waiting for 1 rickety Dando bus or keke napep to take them to ogba. If 4 of them join forces, @ 150naira it would be enough to take them to ogba with a.c and good music.

With time and more awareness, uber drivers will be busy round the clock.

Very well put. There is space for everyone to thrive and the coverage can only get bigger. Come one, come all!

Yes, the inner streets are not too good but they are not like giant craters. Ago is a prime location and u can easily get request from Amuwo too or festac. Very good place to be early mornings evenings or sundays
it must be my luck then, ive not been very fortunate with the area.

i took a trip from VI to Magodo yesterday, 25mins pere, 2800 in my pocket and another trip came in as i was ending that one. drove 3 mins to the pickup only to see madam was going to Ago Palace way. My "don't do this to yourself" alarm started ringing immediately.
I sharply looked for excuse
Me: i'm not sure i have enough fuel to get that far, you know how unpredictable that route is
Rider: Where is your fuel? its quarter nah. you should be fine
Me: this car consumes fuel alottt
Rider: ehen, you can stop and buy fuel on the road then
Me: (blood of Zachariah!!) Fuel availability too is unpredictable. These people are hoarding and i wont want to waste your time queuing
Rider: What do u want to do now
Me: (sigh of relief) i'll just end the trip and you order afresh. I wont mind taking you down to the gate& your driver will be there before us.
Rider: ok.

na so i escape. i'm never going that way again. no return trip and bad road things

truth.... That my kick giving signs refused to work as at 2pm yesterday. Valentine day of all days.... Luckily it was in an estate at osolo way where i dropped a rider, put off the car, request came in. Tried starting the car to go pick the rider: na lie. I knew it was a day of reckoning between me and the starter. I just looked for an electrician at answani mechanic village. Told him to remove the kick starter, that i am buying another one 2moro. Locked the car, took uber home(ogudu). This morning i had him buy another one and fixed it... Before then i realized i had a flat tire overnight, so it was like double wahala... Had to change to spare.

Some weeks, u can't enjoy 7 smooth days....
You can say that again!! i had a not so palatable experience sometimes last month as well.
Dropped off a rider around 11:30pm in an estate, killed engine to take a leak only to get back in and car refused to start. turns out the battery was dead and the car was hard starting that morning but i ignored it thinking ill call mech to check it at work on Monday, make i use weekend cash out afterall i bought the battery in January 2017.
I looked around and all gates were locked, nobody to ask to help jump-start,no cars parked on the street, called rider for assistance and she was like all her neighbors were out, i was OYO.
Thank God for small sense, i requested taxify, called the driver, introduced myself as a driver and explained my predicament. The man came through immediately he heard i was a driver, helped jump start and even refused taking any cash for the assistance.

God bless that man!! Imma repay some other driver someday.

i still made the new battery money that weekend tho cool

I said all things being equal. Got several 5 star ratings while flexing with a 2000 model car, with good attitude, over a period of few weeks.
If Gazzuzz can do it with his 1999 2000 Avensis wagon that was previously dedicated to Ladipo runs, then anybody can. like he said, attitude goes a long way, then some extra perks are welcome
