"Tales of Jideofor" is a young-adult historical fiction based on real places and facts of the transatlantic slave trade, at its zenith in the 18th century. It follows the life of Jideofor; a curious and brilliant teenager from Illah in present-day Western Igbo lands, to the slave factories in Ibani Island (now Bonny Island), down to Jamaica. It is a tale of dreams, destiny, death, love and reincarnation. The novel blurs the lines between fact and fiction, by mixing history with mystery. It opens a real window into life in ancient Igbo society, and the travails and evils of the transatlantic slave trade. Farastein Mokwenye, an indigene of Illah, is the author of this literary masterpiece. The work debuts under the commission of Tamarind Hill Press (@press_hill) in the United Kingdom on July 26th. The novel is the first of a three-part series that delves into esoteric subject matters such as death, the afterlife, spirituality, destiny and fate. For the next 14 days, Farastein (farastein_eiheez) would release never before seen excerpts and illustrations from the book; to give would-be readers a taste of what to expect on July 26th. #history #mystery #historicalfiction #slavetrade #youngadultfiction #afrika #dreams #death #destiny #reincarnation
