Hello guys, I've something I really want know.

I'm a Hausa guy, but I'm grew up here in Lagos and a large percentage of the people I know and hang out with are not northerners, I even speak Yoruba like kilode.

Due to the nature of my job I've come to meet different people from all over the world, most people I've met, especially Nigerians, after a short conversation their question would be "are you a Nigerian? "
3 in every 5 strangers I speak with would ask me that question. Even today I got ask if I'm a Nigerian.

I noticed that it's only after people hear me speak English that they get curious.
So my question is: how do we, Hausa people, sounds when we speak English?
Or is this particularly to me alone.
And I'm curious if I sound wired or cool
