This post is heavily flawed because it generalizes heavily on what is obtainable in public service.

It is important to note the differences. First of all, public service is not the same as civil service. Civil service refers to those who are employed by the civil service commission (mostly ministries). Every person working for the public is a public servant i.e national assembly workers, police, govt parastatals etc. Now the major differences:

1. SALARY
Generally civil service salary and allowances is very poor. Civil servants (ministry) salary schedule ranges from minimum wage N18,000 to about N250000 per month for permanent secretaries. A person would have worked at least 10years in civil service before you can earn up to 100k per month.
Some parastatals pay better. This is one of the things gej govt failed to address: the irregular and haphazard payment structure.

2. JOB SECURITY
Civil service jobs are more protected. Even when ministries are scrapped, the workers get re-absorbed into the system and posted elsewhere. Unlike govt agencies and parastals where the workers will be sacked.

3. JOB SATISFACTION
It is easy to get frustrated by work in civil service. This is because workers keep doing the same thing over and over again for the entire year. Civil servants are not usually recognised or rewarded for going the extra mile. This is why most of them dont bother

I believe what you mean is Jonathan was antigay. The gay marriage bill sought to punish people not only for being gay, but for evening knowing someone gay without reporting it.

The bill was unnecessary because nigerian law already punishes homosexuality (See the criminal and penal codes respectively). What simply happened was that Jonathan needed something to deflect public outcry against his govt cluelessness, greed and impunity. And once again the gays seemed an easy target.

Let me be the first to say this, jonathan will quickly find that he has no value or reputation in the political space, both locally and international.

Although praised for successfully handing over to another govt, Jonathan is not an icon or elder statesman. He will be remembered more for cluelessness, corruption and impunity. No international organisation will take him seriously

When I read some comments am ashamed at the kind of mentality some people have. Many of us have lost all sense of morality and decorum.
Here is a man championing free and fair election. He is the governor of the state, yet didnt ask or compel inec to rig for him.
