kahal29: • ••Warns Against Election Manipulation
The Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed victory in the ongoing governorship election , affirming that collated results from the polling units confirms PDP's emerging victory at the poll.
In a statement issued at Osogbo on Saturday evening, the Caretaker Chairman of the party in Osun state, Dr Akindele Adekunle declared that the party has secured majority as well as more than two third spread across the 30 local governments and area office.
The party in the statement noted that the victory of the party at the poll is a product of mass mobilisation and grand coalition of people of Osun state against bad governance and insensitive leadership.
While thanking people of Osun state for endorsing and affirming Ademola Adeleke's governorship bid, the party sternly warns against any attempt to tamper with the result of the election.
"We want to assert that Ademola Adeleke has won this election overwhelmingly going by results at our disposal. We warn against any plot by some agents of chaos to doctor the results. We specifically call on the Electoral commission to watch fifth columnists within its fold who may have been contracted for hatchet job. Osun people have decided and their votes must be respected", the statement noted.
The party specifically called attention of the commission to a paid agent of the state government who is presently working round the clock to tamper with the results, vowing that any attempt to subvert the will of Osun people will be strongly resisted.
Signed Dr Akindele Adekunle Chairman, CTC Peoples Democratic Party Osun State Chapter PDP is not INEC |

Crime › Is Corruption The Fuel That Powers Nigeria? by blackpanda(op): 7:04am On Jul 16, 2022*. Modified: 8:20pm On Jul 16, 2022 |
When we talk of corruption the only place most people turn to is the federal executive i.e President, Ministers, Heads of Parastatals etc. It's almost like no corruption goes on in states or local government. But Nigerian citizens sensibilities about corruption are sometimes ironical or confusing. For example, I work in a government establishment and anytime citizens offer money in exchange for one favour or the other and I decline, they become perplexed. It's like there is an automatic assumption that everybody in Nigeria needs their "hand to be greased" in order to do their job or worse, do something illegal. If you refuse to accept bribe, they will look at you like you are a "mumu" or wicked, or sometimes they make derogatory statements against you. But it's also the same person's that will leave your office and be chanting and blogging about how government officials are so corrupt! Well that is one part of the story. The other part is that when you are in a system that pays workers very poorly, does not reward hard work and indeed tacitly expects workers to get extra income anyway they can (including collecting bribe, so long as you are not caught), then remaining an honest worker becomes almost impossible. Especially since your bills keep piling up and you meager salary will never be enough to cater to them. Refusing bribe in the office seems like insanity! Yet another part of Nigeria's corruption culture is that everybody expects you to be rich once you are in a position to control government purse. How many people will have relatives or friends in the Senate or as Minister, without making bogus demands for one favour or another And when they make such demands, where else is that relative to get the requested funds from other than government purse? In Nigeria it is only when an accused person is not your relative or you have not benefitted from him that you agree that he is corrupt. Otherwise, Nigerians will look for any reason under the sun why such an accusation is nothing more than persecution e.g on account of religion or tribe etc. Truth be told, Corruption is the fuel that propels Nigeria. Without corruption Nigeria will grind to a halt. One of the reasons why Buhari is hated is because there is no "sharing of national cake". It's the reason the saraki led National Assembly refused to pass budget and Nigerians supported them. If you refuse to receive or collect bribe in Nigeria, you are the odd one in the bunch!

bid4rich: That's a good question though but remember, "everything rises and falls on leadership"
If my memory serves me well, Buhari still pilots Nigeria's affairs, including the Anti-corruption campaign. Then I ask myself, why partial fight? You are answering a question with another question. We are in a democracy with institutions. It is not the job of the president to determine who or who not to prosecute. The only way you can blame buhari is if he uses his privilege as President to interfere with prosecution. I will like to hear of anytime he has done that The leadership u speak of is not the business of only the President. Leadership is a combined effort of everybody including Ministers, heads of parastatals, priests, pastors, imams etc. The president has already done his job by providing the policy and institutional framework for anti corruption. |
