I'm just curious as to wwhether it has to do with nairaland or gmail? Anytime I get a pm from nairaland, I'm unable to read iton my gmail. It says something like this:
Hello qbd2,
Bleep would like to send you an email message, but since you're notconnected, you'll need to contact Bleep by replying this email.
Regards,
Nairaland team.
Anyone else experiencing this?
That is the standard format of PM.

You will need to send the person a reply that it is okay for the person to contact you then the person will send you his original email.
Politics › Re: APC Reveals Transition Committee’s Terms Of Reference That Earned Buhari FG Rebu by blank(f): 11:19am On May 01, 2015
Why is APC making such a song and dance about handover. That won't be the first govt to be handed over to. Obasanjo handed over to Yaradua who handed over to Jonathan.

Why is the transition team asking for handover documents before the handover? Can't they wait for May 29 where all documents will be handed over? As for now, Jonathan's govt is still in charge.

If you had read the OP, you would ve seen where I said that she asked the SIL about her sudden coldness and she attributed it to stress at work. What should she be guilty about when she knows nothing of why the lady is acting up? She might not be telling me the entire truth but I feel like she wouldn't be bothered about the whole affair if she was the one heating up the polity.
Please, i know you are her sister so you will want to defend her actions. However, the story stinks. If my sister tells me such a story, i won't dig further because i know she is telling me half stories and doesn't want me to know her issues. Have you heard this story from anyone else apart from your sister so that you can gain some perspective on it. She can tell you that she is bothered by her SILs behavior but she might not tell you that she is the cause.

Don't you find it strange that they had a shouting match in her hubby's family house and even at that point, with more people involved no one mentioned the issue? Even if it's to use it in an abusive way on your sister? So many such loopholes. Anyways, it your sister's issue so anyway you present it here is based on "dem say" coloured by your own perspective.

Yeah,we ve had several heart to heart talks, trying to go over all her actions in order to know where she erred. Sadly, we couldn't get a clue. Personally, I feel the SIL is just trying to flex her muscles and displaying intimidation tactics. Annoyingly, she seems to be getting away with it cuz of her brother's lax attitude. As some posters said earlier, he is being a wuss whether for the right reasons or not. I just feel pity for her cuz she is the one carrying all the tension
Your sister is not telling you the total truth. You know people have a way of covering the truth just so that they will look good. Your sis knows the reason for the hostilities she just is not telling you. She might even be guilty of whatever the SIL is saying. However, that does not mean that she should be uncomfortable in her house. If the relationship has irrevocably broken down then it is time to take some hard decisions.

Would like to add that the husband is not necessarily a wuss, it could just be that his wife is actually wrong and the person heating up the environment. There is a saying that enmity between brothers cannot reach the bone. Your siblings are still your family and he will have to balance both aspects.
Politics › Re: FG Warns Buhari Against Running Parallel Government by blank(f): 4:54pm On Apr 29, 2015
We can so jump to conclusions even when the conclusions are clearly wrong.

From the short info released, it is obvious that the terms of reference given to those in the transition committee might be inferred to be the running of a parallel govt and not about spotlight being on Buhari. Was there any mention of G7 or anything like that?

The real questions should be "what did Buhari tell the committee to do?" Maybe it included actions that would be be tantamount to them being in govt while that is not what a transition committee is meant to do.

Abeg, it's a standard clause that PwC inserts in all documents that are not audit opinions. This is to mitigate against litigation from 3rd parties. Also, it is standard to include all areas of limitations. PwC will only work within the scope of work detailed to them.

The answers may be on the yield signs. (which we Nigerians do pay attention to)

NO 3 first, Reason is No yield sign
NO 1 next, Reason is His yield sign is blank
NO 2 next, Reason is the sign kinda look like "yield for traffic on the right"

So it's 3-1- 2

Just my two. I may be wrong.
Nos 2 is not a yield sign. It is an information sign. It shows that it is on a main way with a right to a less busy street.

Only nos 2 has a yield sign.

I have shown some interest in that but since I read this piece l am developing cold feet. Please help me out there.
The experience of sending money home to friends or uncles to help you build is frustrating enough. Will l be entering into another big hole
Please advice
There are people with good experiences. Just ensure you plug all loop holes before you commit your money. Make sure your sale contract has everything covered. Be prepared to wait a long while (longer than the period they promised you) before getting your house. Read the rules and regulations of the estate to ensure you can abide with their draconian rules. Be prepared to pay for your deed of assignment separately.

@ Lawyer, this is a very apt thread. I will give my own personal experience and will call names because i do not pull my punches. grin

I tried to invest in Lekki Gardens Phase 2. They were dodgy about releasing information and gave out false info as well. I remember Gladys saying that each house will have inverters, the estate will have a town hall meeting in which they will choose their own service charge and electricity charge, each house will be provided with a carport, etc. I asked for a contract that states all of these which they didn't have. I asked to see the documents of the land, they kept telling me long stories. Can they start building if they do not have title? Will they swindle me and run away with the houses? They can only show me after i have paid up fully and other such thrash. Also, they don't have building approval so could not get a mortgage. After 2 months of back and forth, i let go. This was before they started building Phase 2.

After a couple of years, they had built up and really expanded and we were interested again. By this time, the areas available in Ajah were either Phase 4 or Phase 3 extension. After seeing the layout, we decided on Phase 3 extension because of the access road and how easy it would be to access the express. It was meant to be directly behind Phase 3. They showed us the documents which were that they had a court case that had been settled by the families. Gave us an upfront contract (although they said the proper sale contract would be after full payment, i have forgotten what they called this initial contract). We paid the deposit and started the wait game.

After 3 months, we went there and noticed that the access road beside phase 3 had been fenced off by the people beside. That day we went, we saw army and navy fighting over one side of the land (the unfenced part) where the estate should be. We started disturbing LG to show us where the phase 3 extension will be. Today they will say it is on the right, another day it is on the left. They said the access road will be through Phase 3 or phase 4. We did a search of the documents and realised that LG lost the land they bought and they had to re-buy it from the original owners which they had not done. We started bombarding their office for our money back. They wanted to give us phase 4 which was already being built but we insisted on getting our money back. That was when they mentioned that in the final contract, refunds will be less 10% of the money paid and they will refund after 3 months. That was a very long 3 months. We went there with my cousin, a lawyer to fake a law suit if they should deduct any money as we didn't enter into that contract (it was meant to be done after full payment) neither are we defaulting. They were the ones that defaulted.

They finally gave us our full money after 4 months and i have steered clear of LG and any other estate property since then.
