As the 2015 general elections draws closer, Nigerian entertainers are torn in between the leading political parties and their candidates.

Some are in support of President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and others are for Muhammadu Buhari, the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Many of the very popular stars have taken to social media to campaign for their favourite candidates.

Many are of the opinion that these celebrities have been paid a huge amount of money to campaign for the candidates.

Latest to join the list of those against Buhari is popular Port-Harcourt based singer, Duncan Mighty.

The musician decided to take a swipe at the presidential candidate of the APC), following his recent trip to London where he spoke at the Royal Institute of International Affair, Chatham House.

The singer took to his Instagram page to share his opinion on Buhari’s recent trip to London.

He also made reference to his certificate issue which has been trailed with controversies.

Below is what he posted on Instagram:

“STUPIDITY is when you go to London to campaign for people without PVCs.
MUMU is when you go to London and fail to come back with your acclaimed Cambridge certificate.
MUGU is when you did not go to school and you forge a certificate and come online to say sai Buhari.

Duncan Mighty in recent times has publicly shown his support for the ruling party Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) with his campaigns and performances at the party’s rallies.

About a week ago, Etcetera had named Duncan Mighty as one of the new ‘political prostitutes’ in town. With the term ‘political prostitutes’ he means Nigerian entertainers who are in one way or another publicly showing support for the parties and the presidential candidate they will vote for when election time comes.

Typically the amniotic sac breaks on its own during birth, which is commonly referred to as a mother's 'water breaking'.
Or during a C-section, the surgeon cuts through it to deliver the baby.

Doctors say the chance of the amniotic sac remaining completely intact after birth is 'ultra rare'.

A 19-year-old man, Salaudeen Rilwan, is currently cooling his heels in the cell at the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Iyaganku, Ibadan in Oyo State Police Command, after he was accused of killing one Kareem Alaba Suraju at Omi Adio area of Ibadan. Suraju’s offence was that he did not allow the suspect to steal his friend’s plasma television.

The suspect was reported to have gone to the residence of one Olayiwola Femi at Oke Oloro, Omi Adio area of Ibadan at about 12 noon on Friday, January 30, 2015. On getting there, he did not meet Femi but saw Suraju, who happened to be Femi’s friend as well as his landlord’s son.

Suraju was reported to have stayed back at home because he was not feeling well, and his closeness with his father’s tenant made him to be in his room after Femi had gone to work.

Crime Reports learnt that after Rilwan heard that Femi was not around, he started disconnecting the television and DVD player in his room. When Suraju established from Rilwan that Femi was not aware of his intention, he stopped the suspect from taking the household items away.

This was said to have infuriated Rilwan, and in order to ward off Suraju’s ‘interference’, he picked a bottle he found on the floor in the room, smashed it on the floor and stabbed the landlord’s son in the head.

Leaving the young man in a pool of his blood, Rilwan took the plasma TV and the DVD player, locked the door of the room with a padlock and left.

It was further gathered that when Suraju’s father returned from Jumat prayers on that day and met the room of his tenant and son’s friend padlocked, he assumed that his son must have gone to his work place, so he went to his own apartment.
It was Femi’s return at about 8p.m. that exposed the calamity that befell the deceased’s household, when he opened his door and met Suraju stone dead. After he raised the alarm and people rushed into his room to see the lifeless Suraju and also heard about the missing TV and DVD, it was assumed that armed robbers perpetrated the evil act.
But some people brought it to the notice of the family that Rilwan had earlier in the day approached them with a TV and DVD player that he said he wanted to sell.


Some people were said to have gone in search of the suspect and after he was found, he confessed to killing Suraju. But he could not produce the items he stole as he claimed that he went to throw them into the river at Omi Adio when he heard that Suraju had been discovered dead.

When detectives from DCI visited the river, they could not find the items though the river was not flowing because of dry season.

In an interview with Crime Reports, Rilwan said he did not know what came over him to make him kill his friend.

“That day, I went to the shop of my friend, Femi. I wanted to give him a shirt that he said he would want to wear on Sunday, February 1. When I got to his shop, I did not meet him so I went to his residence. I did not meet him at home but met his friend, Suraju, who happened to be my friend also.
“I enquired on Femi’s whereabouts and he told me he was not around. As I stepped and got to the door, I turned back and went into Femi’s room again. Suraju asked whether I had seen Femi and I replied in the negative. He took an excuse to visit the bathroom. While he was away, I stood in front of Femi’s plasma television and started disconnecting its cables.
“When Suraju returned to the room and saw me disconnecting the television, he queried me on why I was doing it. I told him I was taking it away. He demanded to know why I was taking it away, asking whether I had informed Femi.
“I replied him that I had not seen Femi but I would take the TV away. He said he would not allow me to take it away. As we were arguing over this, I sighted a bottle on the floor. I took the bottle, broke it and stabbed him on the head.
“He had not done anything for me prior to that time. Femi did not owe me any money. Initially when I came there, I had no intention of stealing the TV but something just came over me as I got to his door when I made my exit the first time. I didn’t intend to kill Suraju,” Rilwan narrated.

The suspect claimed that he was not taking drugs. “I sell clothes at Omi Adio and live with my parents,” he claimed.

But a police source informed Crime Reports that the suspect’s father said that he left home in 2014 after he was reprimanded over an issue. Since then, the father was quoted to have said, Rilwan had been sleeping around in his friends’ places.

Pandemonium broke lose as some men of the Nigeria Army from the 31 Artillery Brigade on Tuesday invaded the Hill Top Model Secondary School, Minna, the Niger State capital.

The army officer and his subordinates invaded the school few hours after the students’ daily assembly, holding teachers and students hostage. They disrupted academic activities for the whole day. They whisked away a student believed to be an officer’s girlfriend.

It was gathered that the officers and men who stormed the school premises were armed with AK 47
riffles. They arrived in a Mitsubishi Hilux pickup, with registration number: 31 AB 035 NA.

The Eagle Online further gathered that the soldiers came on the invitation of one Umar Alhassan, a civilian, who happens to be a friend of one of the Army officers who removed the tags bearing their names because of their “unofficial” presence in the school.

A teacher with the school, Mohammed Mamud said that at about 8am, Alhassan, wearing military fatigue, drove into the school in a black Nissan Jeep, with registration number: Niger AA 551 KUG.
Mamud said Alhassan came on the invitation of one Farida Mustapha, a Senior Secondary School female student of the school, who was punished by a teacher over an offence.

He explained that the teacher was having a lesson with Farida’s class when an unknown student used an abusive language. And since nobody owned up to the misbehaviour, the teacher punished the whole class, including Farida.

The teacher confirmed that Alhassan came to the school to intimidate the teacher over the general punishment involving his girlfriend, Farida.

Also speaking, the Principal of the School, Bala Mohammed, said:

“Umar Alhassan drove into the school in a reckless way.
“We thank God that the students were not on break, else he would have knocked at least one down.
“I cannot talk to journalists now until I get permission from the state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Danladi Abdulhameed.
“But I have invited the Zonal Inspector and he is on the way to the school to see things for himself.”

When the Zonal Inspector, Mohammed Gambo, arrived, he told newsmen that he was at the school to investigate the incident before briefing them.

According to Gambo: “We will do our best to get to the root of the matter, I assure you.”
The army officers and men who refused to talk to journalists hurriedly put Alhassan in their vehicle and drove away.

All efforts to reach the Public Relations officer of the 31 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Minna proved abortive. His phone was not going through as at the time of filing this report, reports online news portal, The Eagle Online.

Hajia Aishat, wife of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Pesidential Candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), has denied allegations that her husband is in the United Kingdom for a medical treatment.

“He’s just come here to rest. He’s just here to have a rest, at least a few days rest before he goes back to business,” Hajia Obasanjo said during an event on Saturday night in UK.


There was widespread controversy at the weekend that the UK trip of Buhari was on health grounds although his campaign organization said it was for political business.

According to Daily Times, Buhari’s wife debunked rumours that Buhari is gravely sick and undergoing medical treatment in London. Mrs Buhari allayed the fears of Nigerians and APC supporters after emerging from a two-hour interactive drinks reception she and the wife of her husband’s running-mate, Mrs Osinbajo, held for Nigerians in the diaspora on Saturday night at the Westminster Plaza Hotel, in Waterloo.

“He’s home, well and sound,” Hajia Buhari said, as she fielded media questions after emerging from the oversubscribed interactive session. When asked if her husband was in hospital, she smiled warmly and turning to the reporter, said, “I’m hearing it for the first time.” Gen. Buhari, meanwhile, was said to have attended Friday prayers at a Mosque near Baker Street.

“He attended prayers on Friday, he was seen around the mosque near Baker street,” the source revealed, before Hajia Buhari’s disclosure . When pressed further on if her husband was in London for a medical check-up, Hajia Buhari smiled and said: “No, he’s just come here to rest. He’s just here to have a rest. At least a few days rest before he goes back to business.”

The health of 72-year-old Gen. Buhari has been an issue in the country’s presidential campaign, with a group expressing fears that he may be unable to perform optimally if he emerges president. Buhari has, however, consistently pooh-poohed the claim that he is physically unfit.

A photograph of Buhari, said to have been taken with former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, as well as Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun and Senator Bukola Saraki, purportedly to confirm the claim that he was in the UK for political business, stirred further controversy.

While the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, argued that the photograph was a photoshop trick, others doubted its authenticity on the ground that Amosun was on a campaign train in Sagamu, Ogun State, on the day he was said to have taken the picture with the team. Blair was also said to have been somewhere else in Europe, not the UK, that day.

However, Fayose insisted at the weekend that information about the APC presidential candidate is being hidden from Nigerians. The Ekiti Governor specifically challenged Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he (Buhari) did not visit a UK hospital on arrival in London last week.

Buhari is however expected to deliver a speech at the Chatham House on Thursday this week. “He’s speaking at Chatham House on Thursday, they will soon put it up on their website,” a member of the UK chapter of the APC disclosed during Saturday’s event.

Suspected Boko Haram members have attacked Ngelzarma town, Fune local government area of Yobe state and burnt military camp and trailer loaded with grains. But, no live has been reported lost as at the time of filing this report, Daily Trust is reporting.

Ngelzarma town is located about 30km West of Yobe state capital, Damaturu.

According to Daily trust, the attackers stormed the town and started shooting sporodically around 4:PM yesterday.

A security source who doesn't want to be named said that the attackers came in a very large number.

"We tried to prevent them from invading our location but we couldn't. They burnt down a trailer loaded with grains and our lodge (Military camp)" he said.

A resident Malam Hassan Aminu, said people in Ngelzarma had prior information that the assailants were sighted at Fadangara village, few kilometers away from Ngelzarma town.

"We reported to the security operatives but surprisingly they didn't take any action. The boys (insurgents) enter the town and set ablaze military camp, a trailer loaded with grains and some traders shops in the town."

"The military camp was burnt by the Boko Haram last year, they returned and burnt it again after being renovated by the state government. No action was taken to avoid the repeat" he said.
