Tragedy struck in Oremeji, Ibadan, Oyo State, recently when two middle-aged men died in the process of evacuating a “soak-away” pit. The duo, Wasiu, a bricklayer and Solomon, a vulcanizer (surnames withheld) had been employed at No 12, Sobande Avenue, Oremeji, to evacuate a soak-away pit at the back of a two-storey building when the fatal accident occurred, they went into the pit and never came out. When Daily Sun got to the scene of incident, residents who knew the two men had stormed the area, while some policemen were seen speaking to neighbours in the area. The lifeless bodies were also found laid on the floor by men of the Oyo State Fire Service, who had rushed to the area in the hope of rescuing the two victims. The two who were allegedly hired by the landlord and tenants had resumed duty early in the morning when the incident occurred. It was gathered that the two had employed a pumping machine to suck out the first set of waste. They had applied chemical to the last vestiges of the waste when Solomon entered to continue evacuation, but got weak due to heat and the strong smell of the chemical. It was said that Wasiu, who later tried to rescue his colleague also died in the process. “It was not until 10am that the third person working with them came with pipes and found out that they had died in the pit. He was the one who raised the alarm,” said Adeseun Okunade, a neighbour. “He said he was at Ijokodo when people came to tell him someone familiar to him had drowned in a soak-away pit: “I just rushed here to meet the policemen on duty and we were asked to wash their bodies.” Oladimeji Akamo explained that Wasiu and Solomon must have accepted to do the job due to the poor financial situation affecting most artisans in the state, since it was not in their line of trade. Another woman who was being consoled was heard crying that Wasiu had a wife and three children and was reluctant to take the job. It was gathered from another resident who did not want his name in print that the mother who was brought to the scene had been taken away, having been told her son only sustained minor injuries and had been rushed to the hospital. The whereabouts of the landlord and tenants are still unknown, as the building has been deserted since the incident occurred. When contacted, the the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the report said detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene on getting the report. He said it was however, unfortunate that the police could not do anything to rescue them: “Efforts are already in place to get relatives of the deceased as preliminary investigation goes on.”

written by Bishop: We guys have been made to think that we must always do anything possible to impress the female folk. I'm not against a guy loving her babe, I'm against a guy doing silly things in order to impress a lady. The truth is that most times, these actions come back to haunt us while, we get to regret at the end. 1. Consuming too much alcohol: most guys are guilty of this especially when trying to woo a lady or when taking her to bed. This is wrong in so many ways: it will damage your health, its a temporary measure, you most times end up misbehaving and its not a guarantee that you'll succeed in wooing or performing well in bed. Besides, the lady will know that you took something and that you lack confidence and esteem. Be yourself. 2. Spending above your means: whether it's buying things you don't really need in order to look rich and fly, or spoiling the lady with things you normally should not be buying. Its wrong. I see a lot of guys do this and I keep wondering to what purpose? The worst is many of them come back to their senses when its already too late! 3. Lying: I'm not talking about the small lies guys normally tell, I'm talking about bragging to a lady about what you're not. Why tell a lady your father is Dangote's brother, or you're a Chelsea player, or you work in Shell. This will make her have high expectation from you which you would be trying to live up to. 4. Badmouthing your fellow guys: Maybe a guy that is also coming after her. Its wrong for a guy to maltreat his fellow in any way because of a lady. Whether its badmouthing, fighting or quarelling with him, its not worth it. 5. Giving up your values and beliefs: Maybe you're a committed Christian or Muslim, you start backsliding or become uncommitted because she told you to. You start to abandon your loved ones and family, your studies begin to nosedive and even your job sef, you become unserious. Its a very silly thing to do because when the chips are down, those are the only things that will get you going- God, your family and loved ones and your job which will put food on your table. 6. Pretending to be who you're not: there's no need to pretend to be a bad guy if you're not. There are still ladies who value good guys. You don't need to force yourself to seem confident if you're a shy guy. People will know you're just acting it up. http://hotnaijanews.com/2014/11/13/6-things-a-guy-should-never-do-to-impress-a-lady/ Add yours please... |

Dear Bunmi, I have just finished at the university and have a circle of friends I had in my undergraduate days, and I cherish their friendship. My mum is one of these go-getting sophisticated women who see nothing in having affairs. My dad has affairs too, as you can see they have an open marriage. My mum has been a source of embarrassment to me. She drinks like a fish, dresses young and wants to be part of our discussion whenever my friends come over. A few weeks back, one of my friends phoned that his mum was almost out of her mind because my own mum was sleeping with his father. I refused to believe him because both families are close. He then came over and showed me a copy of the love note my mum wrote his father. I was really ashamed and when I accused my mother of being indiscreet, she told me not to be silly. That people in her circle sleep with each other‘s husbands all of the time. I felt sick. She can do whatever she likes but how can I make her leave my friend’s father alone? His mother is more of a mother to me. Victoria http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/mother-friends-dad/ |
The APC presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari said it would be harsh to judge him against his record as a military dictator in a democratic setting just as he last night welcomed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of his aspiration. Speaking on a live CNN interview anchored by Christiane Amanpour, he affirmed that the Boko Haram insurgency would be routed by his administration through blocking corruption and other leakages. Tasked that Nigerians were faced with the difficult option of choosing between a failed president and a former military dictator with a bad human rights record, he said: “All those things you mentioned were done under military administration; if we did not suspend the constitution then, it would have been difficult for us to operate under those circumstances. So I do not think I should be judged as an individual for those things that happened then.” Welcoming the endorsement of President Obasanjo, he said: “Well it will certainly bring more supporters to us and more confidence for those who were sitting on the fence because General Obasanjo is highly respected and as far as the nation is concerned, there is no issue that can be deliberated upon without people seeking his opinion.” Describing the shift of the election dates as unfortunate, Buhari said: “That is a disappointment because the presentation made by the INEC was that they were ready to conduct the elections on the date chosen a year ago. And for them to be forced virtually by the military that they cannot guarantee the safety of their workers and shift it by six weeks.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/cnn-interview-harsh-judge-1984-record-says-buhari/#sthash.tZj6iyIf.dpuf

People who have never been abused often wonder why a person wouldn’t just leave. They don't understand that breaking up can be more complicated than it seems. There are many reasons why both men and women stay in abusive relationships. If you have a friend in an unhealthy relationship, support them by understanding why they may choose to not leave immediately. |

It has been observed that some Guys have sex with many Ladies, i.e multiple sex partners. There are some Guys that have more than five Girlfriends; Some Guys have many Bed-Mates; Such Guys deceive Ladies and take them to bed. Such a Guy pretends to love a lady, takes the lady to bed and sleeps with her and then dumps her. After dumping her, he goes to another lady and repeat the same thing again. The fact is this: Sex is as deadly as it is sweet. Premarital sex is dangerous. Be careful about the people u have sex with. There are some Ladies that destroy destiny after having sex with them. The more you sleep with many Ladies, the more your destiny is destroyed. sleeping with many girls causes stagnation and set-back in your business, job, academics and delay of blessing. This is why so many Men are not progressing and things are not moving well with them. Avoid multiple sex partners. It is not every beautiful lady you see on the road that is a humanbeing. Some of these ladies are agents of the devil. They are sent to the earth to sleep with men and destroy the destiny of men. Dear MEN, Control your sex urge. You are killing yourself. Condom can only prevent diseases but it can not prevent the spiritual negative effect of sex. Your erection should not control your direction. DO NOT DESTROY YOURSELF BECAUSE OF FIVE MINUTES ENJOYMENT. TRUTH IS BITTER LIKE ALOMO BITTER BUT ME GO TALK AM. |

The Flying Eagles have emerged champions of the Super 6 invitational tournament at the Abuja National Stadium. Despite having their winning run ended by the U-23 team, who held them to a thrilling 3-3 draw yesterday, the African Youth Championship-bound Flying Eagles side, still had enough points to emerge tops of the pack. The Coach Samson Siasia led u-23 side, comprising the players that went to Tunisia last week for an international friendly and those prosecuting the Super 6 took the game to their younger ones at the blast of the whistle but could not convert their chances. Prince Aggrey got the curtain raiser for the Coach Manu Garba side in the 28th minute while Peter Onyekachi equalized for the Dream team in the 32nd minute. At the resumption of the second half, the Dream team took the lead with a penalty converted by Oghenekaro Etebo in the 48th minute but Benard Bulwark drew level for the Flying Eagles in the 54th minute. Etebo was to hit target again in the 68th minute while substitute Chidera Eze equalized for the Flying Eagles in the 77th minute. Both teams made frantic efforts to win the match but could not before the referee ended proceedings. Earlier in the day, league champions Kano Pillars defeated Enyimba International of Aba by a lone goal while Warri Wolves defeated the weeping team of the tournament, Dolphins of Port Harcourt by 2-1 |
Scene of the incident The residents of the Ijetu area of Osogbo have been thrown into mourning following the discovery of the corpses of two pupils on the Osun River. It was gathered that a woman had gone to the river to fetch water when she found the corpses of the two pupils floating on the river. A resident of the area told our correspondent on Thursday that the woman dropped her bucket and ran back to the community where she raised the alarm. It was learnt that the matter was later reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and a rescue team from the agency was deployed in the scene. It was gathered that the pupils had gone missing on Monday, while their parents and other relatives had been looking for them. The parents were said to have broken down in tears on seeing the corpses of their children on Wednesday when their bodies were recovered. The pupils were identified as Samson Obasanjo and Kabiru, pupils of Junior Secondary School 2 at Ife-Oluwa Middle School, Osogbo. Some persons said one of the two victims was going to a bakery where he normally worked after school hours when the incident happened. But our correspondent, who visited the school gathered that seven pupils had gone to the area where the incident happened to pluck some fruits. One of the victims was said to have jumped inside the river to swim to the other side of the river where a cherry tree was, but did not come out. It was learnt that after a while, the second victim reportedly jumped inside the river to see why the first had not come out and he too disappeared. The remaining five pupils were said to have waited for the two victims to come out, but after the duo did not come out, they were said to have sworn to an oath that they would not disclose what happened to their colleagues to anybody. A resident of the area told our correspondent that students of the school and other public schools around the area were known for truancy. The Head, Disaster Rescue Team of the NSCDC in Osun State, Mr. Olufemi Awofade, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the team had removed the corpses of the pupils. He said after recovering the corpses of the pupils, their parents took charge and called the worshipers of Osun goddess to perform some rites on them before burial at the riverbank. Awofade said, “We got a call that a certain woman went to fetch water at the Osun River on Wednesday and she saw corpses on the water.” The principals of School 2 and School 3 at Ife- Oluwa Middle School declined comment. The two principals told our correspondent, who visited the school, that “we don’t grant press interviews.” www.naijanewstoday.net/2015/01/two-secondary-school-pupils-found.html?m=1

Yesterday I went to a restaurant in Lekki for a quick lunch, sitting at the next table was this fine babe and dude eating too. Not too long a waiter came with their bill, the girl asked how much and the waiter replied N13,800. The girl then opened her purse and gave the waiter N15,000 telling him to keep the change, my mouth was wide opened and my eyes popped out. After the waiter had left, the guy asked her "baby why didn't u allow me to take care of the bill?". it was then the girl said something that really impressed me. she actually told the guy that she's not after his money that the only thing she needs from him is his love, care and attention. I nearly fainted, are there gals like these in Naija ?it was then I just heard a voice ''cut, cut, cut!!!!!! I shouted "Okeyyyyyy, so na movie una dey shoot, no wonder!!!!!!! |
President Goodluck Jonathan has said that there is no government that can solve problems of a nation within four years. The president stated this on Monday when he paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari as part of his ongoing re-election campaign. According to him, beyond tackling the Boko Haram insurgency, his administration was addressing other challenges in several sectors of the economy, including creating jobs through diverse means. Jonathan said, “Beyond tackling the insurgency, we are creating road networks; we are moving faster in several sectors. There is no way within four years any government can finish the programmes of this country”. However, this assertion contravened his earlier promise in Ethiopia few years back, when he stated that four years was enough for him to fix Nigeria’s problem… diamondcelebrities.com/2015/01/28/nigerias-problems-cannot-be-fixed-in-four-years-jonathan/ |
