....as Hon. Ben Kalu thanks Minister Fashola
The member representing Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has thanked the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, following the news that rehabilitation and construction on the Umuahia-Bende-Ohafia Road (LOT2) in Abia State has finally been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Igbere TV gathered that the approval, announced on Wednesday during the FEC meeting, is for the rehabilitation to commence from the Umuahia axis of the road.
In a statement made available to Igbere TV in Abuja, a very elated Rep. Kalu thanked Fashola for his listening ear, consideration and support over the last one year regarding the approval and repair of the Bende-Ohafia road.
“I thank the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola for taking this project as his own over the last one year. The people of Bende have suffered greatly as a result of the severe dilapidation of the Umuahia-Bende-Ohafia road.
“I am very impressed with the excellence demonstrated by the people at the Ministry of Works during my engagements with them for this federal government intervention.
“I particularly appreciate the Federal Executive Council, the Ministry of Works Permanent Secretary, the former acting permanent secretary Engr. Yemi, the Director of Works – South-East highways Eng. Funso Adebiyi, as well as the staff at the Abia state office of the Ministry who worked diligently during the measurement and design of the road.
"I also congratulate the contractor- Hartland Construction, and am hopeful that they will be funded immediately to commence work from the Umuahia axis having secured this approval".

Politics › Edo Election: Why Ize-iyamu, Buni, Yahaya Bello, Others Met In Abuja by BleedingPen(op): 6:49pm On Sep 23, 2020 |
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Wednesday, met with Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caretaker Committee and Governor of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni, in Abuja.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu is the APC gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded September 19 Governorship election in Edo State.
Also at the meeting were Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello and other governors on the APC platform. The meeting, at the instance of Buni, was to x-ray the party's performance at the poll.
A reliable source privy to the meeting discussions, told Igbere TV that the meeting deliberated and agreed on "the next political move of Ize-Iyamu", following the outcome of the election.
Our source said Ize-Iyamu expressed his dissatisfaction over the handling of the election affairs, particularly the way the national body congratulated the winner "without consulting critical stakeholders".
The source was quick to however add that the APC caretaker leadership persuaded Ize-Iyamu to accept the outcome of the election, concede defeat and congratulate the winner.
Igbere TV gathered that the closed-door meeting, which started at about 4:30pm and lasted over an hour, took place at the private residence of the Party Caretaker chairman, Buni, in Abuja.
Our Abuja correspondent reports that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu arrived the nation's capital since Monday, and has been meeting with stakeholders of the party.
He departed Edo state shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Governor Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the election, on Sunday.
Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 307,955 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Ize-Iyamu, who got 223,619 votes in the keenly contested poll.
Although President Muhammadu Buhari and the Buni-led APC national caretaker committee had since congratulated Obaseki on his re-election, Ize-Iyamu is yet to concede defeat.
Rumours are rife that the APC faction in Edo loyal to its former National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, would challenge the victory of Obaseki in court.
Already, the Edo Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has been set up, and a panel constituted by President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Menem.
Ize-Iyamu is billed to also visit President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, before departing for Edo state. He is expected to make his next political move public after the meeting.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, was on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, spotted playing golf at a private Golf Course, Igbere TV reports.
This was in Yenogoa, the Bayesla State capital. Igbere TV had earlier reported how Obaseki led a delegation to visit his Bayelsa counterpart, Senator Douye Diri, at the Government House, in Yenogoa.
The visit is coming days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Obaseki as the winner of the September 19 Edo Governorship election.
Igbere TV correspondent in Yenogoa reports that the Edo governor was in Bayelsa to express gratitude to Diri and the people of the state for their support which made his re-election possible.
Governor Obaseki, who said he remains grateful to Senator Diri, described his victory in the election as a unifying factor for the South-South region of Nigeria.
On his part, Governor Diri described Obaseki's re-election as triumph for democracy in Nigeria, saying it was a litmus test that the country passed creditably.
Obaseki was accompanied by his wife, his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, his wife, PDP National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Dan Orbih, Senators and Rep members from the state, top government functionaries and party chieftains among others.
The Governor defeated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and 12 other contestants to win the just concluded September 19 Governorship election in Edo state. https://igberetvnews.com/1365657/governor-obaseki-spotted-playing-golf-bayelsa-photos/

Edo-born billionaire oil magnate, Captain (Dr.) Hosa Wells Okunbo, has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki on his victory at the just concluded September 19 Edo State Governorship election.
Igbere TV recalls that Okunbo openly supported Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Obaseki, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and former ally.
In a statement he personally signed and forwarded to Igbere TV, Monday, Okunbo said, “It is incumbent upon me as a protagonist for the candidate of the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to now issue a statement in my personal capacity as a private citizen as I did at various times during the campaign.”
The Chairman, Ocean Marine Solutions Limited, also congratulated the people of Edo “who took the civic responsibility with a sense of urgency and trooped out to express themselves.”
While wishing Governor Obaseki the best of luck, Okunbo prayed that the next four years of his administration will take Edo State to the ‘promised land’.
He beckoned on all Edo indigenes home and abroad to join hands with the Governor to “build a vibrant democracy and a vibrant economy where the youths can find gainful employment in an atmosphere of peace and security.” https://igberetvnews.com/1365453/edo-billionaire-capt-hosa-congratulates-obaseki-reelection/

Politics › Uzodinma Denies Rejecting Edo Election Results, Not Heading To Court by BleedingPen(op): 4:43pm On Sep 21, 2020 |
Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has denied rejecting the outcome of the just concluded Saturday, September 19 Edo Governorship election.
Incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party had on Sunday defeated Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of Uzodinma’s party, the All Progressives Congress.
The Imo governor, who is vice chairman of the APC National Campaign Council, was alleged to have said his party would “secure victory” at the Court, saying it was marred by irregularities.
But in a tweet sighted by Igbere TV on Monday, the Imo State government via its handle, distanced the governor from the said report, describing it as fake news.
According to the Imo state government, the report did not emanate from any of its official channels. It therefore advised the public against it.
"Watch out for this fake press release", it said, while referring to the trending statement.
"Every press release from @GovtOfImoState is communicated through official platforms across all social media channels of the government. https://igberetvnews.com/1365422/uzodinma-denies-rejecting-edo-election-results-heading-court/

Politics › APC Rejects Edo Governorship Election Results by BleedingPen(op): 5:25pm On Sep 20, 2020 |
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has rejected the outcome of Saturday's Edo Governorship, in which incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki was declared winner. Igbere TV had on Sunday reported how Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, secured 307,955 votes to defeat Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate, who got 223, 619 votes. In a statement forwarded to Igbere TV, Sunday, the APC alleged foul play in election, but called on party members to stay calm "while party leaders study the result and decide what is next." In the statement signed by the Chairman of the APC Media Campaign Council, Mr. John Mayaki, rejecting the result, the APC cited alleged strong arm tactics. "Our people were arbitrarily arrested, many of the figures were fabricated," said the terse statement, which the party said was only a preliminary reaction. It further alleged illicit tampering with results, to shore up PDP numbers and mark down APC's. "Areas where we won, they cancelled them. They decreased the votes in areas we had advantage," the party further claimed. "They rejected our results and jerked up theirs." Meanwhile, the party also claimed there was arbitrary arrest of local party members, who could have resisted the outrage, while Governor Godwin Obaseki was busy diverting attention with false alarm. "Obaseki shouted that he was being rigged out and blamed INEC at the initial stage but that was to divert attention from the evil going on in the field", the statement said. The party, however, told its members to stay calm, thanking them for their support, and adding that party leaders were studying the result and would announce their decision and course of action as soon as possible. https://mobile.twitter.com/EdoStateAPC/status/1307728191734329344
