When Herod asked the chief priests and scribes where Jesus would be born, they referred him to scriptures. The only way to define Jesus’ destiny was to look at what the Prophets wrote concerning Him. Jesus’ destiny was not subject to human calculations; it was a function of God’s word concerning Him.

Friend, your destiny is defined by God’s word. Your destiny is a product of what God already said concerning you in His word. You are not defined by what happens around you; you are perfectly defined by God's word. You are a product of God’s word and God’s promises.

Look into God’s word and discover who you truly are. God’s word says you are the head and not the tail; God’s word says you belong to a royal priesthood; God’s word says you will be strong and do exploits; God’s word says that God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory; God’s word says you are seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above principalities and powers. God’s word is God’s way of defining you.

If it is not in God’s word, reject it and refuse it; if God has not said it, then don’t break your head when men say it. The opinions of men do not define you; the economy does not define you; your haters cannot even define you; your past cannot define you; you are only defined by every word God has spoken concerning you.

God’s word concerning you will never fall to the ground. Hear it, read it, believe it, confess it, declare it, meditate on it, and speak it into your life. The report of men will certainly bow to God's for your life.

Hold on to God's word, and it will be fulfilled; God's word concerning you will prevail.

When Herod heard the news of Jesus’ birth, he was troubled, and the entire nation was troubled with him. Herod was in charge of Jerusalem, and when he was troubled, Jerusalem joined him in being troubled. What happened in him soon happened around him. He set a wrong pace, and an entire nation followed him on the wrong path.

Friend, whatever goes wrong within you has the capacity to go wrong in the lives of people connected to you. Your personal vices could easily be copied by people watching you. Any sin, wrong attitude, bad behaviour, negative habits and lifestyle, etc will easily be learnt and replicated in people who are connected to you- spouse, children, friends, colleagues, subordinates, etc. If it goes wrong in you, it may go wrong around you.

If you exude pride, arrogance, anger, impatience, dishonesty, inconsistency, wickedness, mediocrity, corruption, immorality, bitterness, hatred, faithlessness, etc, be careful, someone is watching, and they will soon learn and live by your bad examples. Any vice you advertize could be bought by someone watching you.

Instead of being a bad example, be a good example. Be the one through whom people around you will learn what is right. Be the one who will inspire others to live right and adopt positive virtues. Be the good example that people around you will copy.

Look inwards and discard everything in you that is not worth emulating. Instead of advertising your weakness, ask God to come to your rescue. Be committed to being a good example to your generation.

Titus 2 vs. 7 (GWT) counsels aptly: “Always set an example by doing good things. When you teach, be an example of moral purity and dignity.”

Prayer : Lord, I choose to be a good example to my generation, in Jesus’ name!Amen

There was this man dat was tired of life ,he was battered and beaten so he decided 2 end his life by going 2 d forest 2 hang himself, after putting d rope was abt 2 put it on his neck whn a naked mad told him 2 stop !that please b4 u put dat rope over ur neck giv me ur cloths and he was lik wat kind of man is dis and d man told him dnt think I am mad ,is because I cannot afford clothes that's y I am in dis forest ....d man couldn't hang himself again instead he ask 4 forgiveness because he was complaining dat he is tired of life and he saw a man dat needed is clothes jus 4 him 2 stay alive...if God dnt love u he won't keep u frm jan dwn to dec ,despite our sins he over look and gav us life ,breath ,good health,shelter ,protection,provision ...jus name it . I want 2 tell somone 2day dat if u r alive and breathing fine dat God that gav u dat breath is still alive to settle that case of urs ,is it marriage issue, is it pregnancy ,is it job, is it business ....God is 2 faithful to fail. When Herod heard the news of Jesus’ birth, he was troubled and unsettled. He was unhappy that someone else had been born king. Someone else’s greatness made him unhappy. Herod felt uncomfortable and pained because of someone else's kingship. He was sad about Jesus’ greatness.

Friend, glean a lesson: don’t lose sleep because of another man’s greatness. Don’t feel bad when someone around you rises to the next level; don’t be angry at another man’s success; don’t let another man’s progress unsettle you; don’t allow another man’s achievement to drive you into envy and jealousy; don’t be embittered by another man’s greatness.

Herod felt bad about Jesus’ birth, but he couldn't do anything to stop Jesus from being who God destined Him to be. Feeling bad about another man’s greatness will not make the greatness to disappear. Being angry at another man’s success will not change it to failure. Feeling bad because of another man’s success will not add value to your life or cause you to succeed.

Herod was King in Jerusalem; but Jesus’ kingship transcended the borders of Jerusalem. Jesus’ kingship was on a higher level. Jesus was not in a competition with Herod. No matter what anyone achieves around you, you're not competing with them. You have a race to run, you have your own achievements to make, so focus on your race and let others run theirs.

Jesus did not come to unseat Herod. He came to establish God’s kingdom here on earth. Those who have risen around you have not necessarily come to unseat you; they have their race to run; discard envy and jealousy; you have a race to run.

Prayer : Lord, I will not lose sleep on account of another man’s greatness, in Jesus’ name!Amen

In our Focal Scripture, the wise men went to Jerusalem in search of Jesus. They were wise, but their wisdom did not teach them that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. Their wisdom did not tell them Jesus’ exact location.

They probably predicted that Jesus would be in Jerusalem, but their prediction was wrong. Their wisdom got the wrong results; their human wisdom misled them.

Friend, hear this: human wisdom is limited. Human wisdom can lead you into error. That it sounds wise does not mean it will turn out fine; that it sounds reasonable does not mean it is God's will for you; there are limits that human wisdom won't allow you to cross; human calculations, permutations and predictions may be wrong.

Glean a lesson: don’t live by human wisdom; live by divine direction. Ask God to give you the right direction that will lead to your progress; ask God to give you the right direction that will help you hit your targets.

Ask God to show you the opportunities to take; ask God to direct you on the right and relevant relationships to keep, and those you should discard; ask God to direct you on how best to achieve what you need to achieve.

Go beyond human intuition and ask God to direct you. Even if you are intelligent and wise, allow God to show you the way to go. After their long trip to Jerusalem, the wise men didn't see Jesus. If God doesn't direct you, you may make wasteful and fruitless efforts that will lead you nowhere.

Ask God to make you sensitive to the leading of His Spirit. Ask God to direct you in all your ways.

Prayer : Lord, grant me divine wisdom and direction in all my ways, in Jesus’ name! Amen

When Jesus was born, wise men went to Jerusalem to pay Him homage. Jerusalem was the city of Kings, and one would expect a new king to be born in Jerusalem. Jerusalem was the right environment for the birth of a new king. Jerusalem was the right process and right location.

Notice that Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judah; He wasn't born in Jerusalem, His birth didn't look like that of a great king, His birth place was not befitting, but He turned out a great child and savior of the entire world. The process looked ordinary, but the result was extraordinary.

Friend, hear God’s word: your process might look ordinary, but your result shall be extraordinary. Things may not add up, but God says, you will have resounding results. You may not look like one who is about to achieve fame, promotion, distinction, relevance, success, etc, but God says, it's all coming to you.

You may not look like the king that God has made you, you may not be wealthy and famous, you may not have attained lofty heights and powerful positions, you may not have the splendor and glamour that befits you as God’s child, the processes of your life may not speak of greatness, but your greatness won't be cancelled.

Stop being fixated on what your eyes can see, and focus on God and on God’s word for your life. If God be for you, even if the processes look ordinary, your results will be extraordinary.

Pray With Me: Lord, my greatness is not dependent on natural processes; my greatness is God-ordained in Jesus’ name!

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, His star was seen by wise men from the East. The East referred to nations like Babylon, Persia, etc. A great destiny was birthed in Bethlehem, and news about that destiny spread beyond Israel. Jesus' star shone beyond His location and nation.

Jesus' greatness was not confined to Bethlehem; Jesus wasn't a local champion; His star shone even in territories of those who were considered as God’s enemies; His star shone in places He hadn't been to; His star shone among friends and foes alike; His star was unlimited.

Friend, God says, your star will shine beyond your borders. God will announce you to your generation; your greatness will be recognized beyond your location; your greatness will be seen by friends and foes alike; your greatness will be seen by those who have met you and those who are yet to meet you.

Those wise men saw Jesus’ star and came to pay Him homage. God says, men will hear of your greatness, and they will leave their locations to come and seek you; men will hear of your exploits and they will leave their nations to come to your own nation just to see you; men will hear of your abilities, and they will seek you out.

Jesus didn't announce to anyone that He was King; God announced Him, the elements of nature announced Him, and the wise men came to worship Him. God says, you will not need to announce yourself; God will announce you, and everyone, even your haters, will recognise and honour you.

God says, your star shall be seen by all nations, your fame shall spread abroad, and your greatness shall be without borders.

Pray With Me: Lord, my greatness will have no borders; I shall be announced to my generation, in Jesus’ name

When Jesus was born, some wise men from the east saw his star and came to worship Him. They saw Jesus’ star and they knew that a new king and a great personality had been birthed. They saw Jesus' star and they recognized Jesus' greatness. They associated Jesus' star with royalty.

The wise men didn’t only recognize Jesus’ star; they knew that a new king had been born, and they came and worshipped Jesus, and gave Him gifts fitting for a King. They treated Him like a king; they treated Him according to who He was. They saw His greatness and treated Him like a great one.

Friend, God says, your star will be revealed, and men shall recognize you and treat you like the king you are. Men will see the greatness in you and show you honour, favour and respect; men will see your abilities and pay you what you are worth.

Men will see your wisdom, competence, dedication, commitment, efficiency, uniqueness, etc and they will give you what you truly deserve. God will send you men who will see the greatness in you and give you the opportunities and assistance you deserve.

Instead of looking for recognition, just become a star and men will have no choice but to recognize you. Instead of seeking for honour, seek to be honourable and honour will come naturally. Build up your inner man, increase your virtues, greatness and relevance, grow your skills and abilities, become a better person; be a person your generation can’t resist.

Ask God to open the eyes of men to see the star in you; ask God to cause your greatness to be recognized.

Before Jesus’ birth, Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost. Because of her conception, a great child was growing in Mary’s womb; someone special and supernatural was growing and waiting to manifest. Within Mary’s womb was a star who the entire world needed to see.

When Mary finally brought forth her child, wise men came from the east to pay homage. Her pregnancy did not attract the wise men, but when she brought forth what she had within her, wise men came towards her. The child in her womb did not attract anyone until she brought forth the child.

Friend, are there gifts, dreams, visions, ideas, abilities, skills, etc that God has planted in you? God says, push it out. Manifest your God-given gifts, talents and abilities; do exploits with your skills; start working to make your dreams and visions a reality; put your ideas to work; start that business you conceived in the past; write that book that has been on your mind; manifest what you have in you.

Your 'wise men' may never come until you push out what you have in you. Some men are waiting to read your books, assist your visions and ideas, patronize your business, skills and talents, etc, but they may never come until you push forth what God has planted in you. If you don't manifest, nothing will attract men to you.

You may have lofty ideas and visions, you may be supremely gifted and skilled, you may have the best plans, but if you don’t push forth what you have, you will remain anonymous in your generation, and no one will celebrate you.

Don't bury what you have in you; manifest what God put in you, and your 'wise men' will show up.

It is instructive to observe that though Jesus and Herod were both Kings, there was a huge difference in their Kingship. Herod was a mortal king, but Jesus is an immortal, eternal King. Herod had a limited time on the throne; Jesus’ time on the throne is unlimited.

Herod’s influence was limited to his kingdom; Jesus’ kingdom and influence is unlimited. Herod may have derived his kingship from men, but Jesus’ Kingship came from God.

Friend, God says, you are a different king. You are not like those who came before you or began before you; you are not limited like those around you; you are not on the same level of kingship with those competing with you. You are not in the class of those whose thrones begin and end with what eyes can see; you're not in the category of royals whose influence is derived from a physical throne.

Your influence is first spiritual, then physical; your influence comes from God. Your relevance is divinely orchestrated. Your influence is not dependent on your background; it’s a function of the One you belong to. You come from royalty; you are the scion of an aristocratic dynasty; you are who you are because of Whose you are.

Herod was a king, but he didn't have the final say over Jesus' life. God says, the kings of this world don't have the final say on your destiny. When they speak against you, overrule them through prayers and spiritual warfare. Use your connection to God to control the affairs of men.

If you don't exercise your authority in Christ, you will be subdued by the kings of this world. Stop living like an ordinary king whose throne begins and ends on earth; you're a different king.

Our Focal Scripture reveals that Jesus was born during the reign of Herod. Herod belonged to an established dynasty. He belonged to a family that already had a history of being in kingship. Herod was already an established monarch that ruled and sat on the throne in Jerusalem.

So while there was already an established monarch in Jerusalem, Jesus was born as King of the Jews. Herod’s reign did not stop the birth of a new King. Herod's pedigree and family history of kingship did not stop the emergence of a greater and mightier King Jesus. Herod was still in charge, and a new King emerged.

Friend, there may be people who emerged ahead of you, but God says, they will not stop your emergence. The Herod's of this world will not stop you from rising and shining; those ahead of you will not stop you from moving ahead; those who started before you will not stop God from beginning a new thing in your life; there is a star in you, there is greatness in you, and it will manifest despite the Herod’s of this world.

The fact that Herod reigned before Jesus’ birth was not a disadvantage to Jesus. The fact that some people began before you is not a disadvantage. God says, they may have started before you but you will overtake them. They may have begun before you but you will outlive them. They may be celebrated now, but be patient; you will eventually be celebrated over and above them.

Celebrate the king in you; you are destined to rule and reign despite those around you and ahead of you; nothing, and nobody will stop you from reigning.

Pray With Me: Lord, I will rise despite the kings ahead of me, in Jesus’ name!

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1: 37)

When Angel Gabriel was done with his conversation with Mary, he said, “For with God nothing shall be impossible”. Mary may have viewed God's promise as impossibility, she may have wondered how she would conceive without a man being involved, but the Angel assured that with God, nothing shall be impossible.

Friend, are there issues in your life that seem impossible? Are there heights that seem impossible to attain? Are there battles against you and it seems that victory is impossible? Are there achievements, exploits, breakthroughs, testimonies, miracles, etc that seem impossible?

If God is involved in your life, then hear God’s prophetic word: nothing shall be impossible in your life. The impossibilities in your life shall become possible. Battles that seemed impossible to win shall be won with ease; heights that seemed impossible to attain shall be attained with ease; the achievements that seemed impossible shall become possible; the healings that seem impossible shall become possible. The miracles, breakthroughs, testimonies, exploits, etc that were once impossible shall be possible.

Jesus' birth was God’s agenda, and nothing was enough to make it impossible. Not even the biological protocol for conception and birth could stop it. If your desire is in line with God’s word and God's agenda, no force on earth shall stop it. If God is involved, then impossibility is nothing.

Don't accept any impossibility in your life. If God be for you, all things are possible, and nothing shall be impossible.

Jeremiah 32 vs. 17 captures it aptly: “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:”

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the Angel made mention of Elizabeth, Mary’s cousin, who was in the sixth month of her pregnancy. Elizabeth was once barren, but God showed up and interrupted her barrenness. Something negative persisted in her life until she became old, it was about to follow her to the grave, but God said no! God reversed the negative order in Elizabeth’s life.

Friend, is there a negative order or something bad that has persisted in your life? Are there negative issues that have over stayed their welcome? Are there demonic cycles in your life and family? Is there a challenge that is following you into old age?

Today, hear God’s word: every negative order in your life shall be reversed. Every negativity that has persisted in your life shall be reversed; every challenge that has come to stay in your life shall be chased out by the fire of God’s Spirit; every demonic cycle that has lingered in your family shall be divinely interrupted. It doesn’t matter how long your challenges have lingered; they will bow to God.

No challenge will follow you into old age; no health problem will become a part of your identity; no family challenge will become a tag on your family; the things that went wrong in the past will not go wrong again; if it is not of God and it has lingered, it’s time to ask God to take it away.

Don’t accept that any negative issue will persist in your life. Reject every negative order; ask God for divine intervention, and the negative orders will be reversed.

Pray With Me: Lord, reverse every negative order in my life, in Jesus’ name!

Before Angel Gabriel left Mary, he reminded her that Elizabeth was already pregnant. Mary was about to conceive and bear a child, and the Angel reminded her that someone else already conceived.

Mary’s conception seemed impossible, and the Angel reminded her that someone who was once barren had conceived. The Angel gave an example of someone who had received a miracle similar to Mary's expectation.

Friend, is there a miracle, testimony, breakthrough, etc you expect from God? Is there something you want God to do for you? Is there a height you want God to help you attain? Is there any area of your life where you desire progress? Is there a testimony, breakthrough, etc you desire?

God says, there is a testimony already. Concerning the miracle you want from God, someone has already received it; concerning the next level you desire, God has already made it happen for someone around you; concerning the progress you desire, God has already made it happen for someone else; concerning the heights, achievements, breakthroughs, etc you desire, God has already done it for someone around you.

If God has done it for someone around you, then get set: He is set to do it for you. If God remembered someone around you, He will soon remember you; if God has favoured someone around you, He will soon favour you. If God opened doors, brought miracles, granted breakthroughs, etc to people around you, just get set: you're next.

The testimonies of others are harbingers of your own testimony. Celebrate the testimonies of people around you, and soon, people around you will celebrate your own testimonies.

Pray With Me: Lord, if it happens around me, it will soon happen for me, in Jesus’ name!

In our Focal Scripture, the Angel announced that “The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee…”. The word ‘overshadow’ as used in that scripture is derived from a Greek word ‘episkiazo’. One of the meanings of ‘episkiazo’ is ‘to invest’. So, the Angel announced that God would invest in Mary before she brings forth Jesus.

Mary was not going to bring forth Jesus by her own power; she was only going to do it because God would invest in her. It was not all about her; it was about the investment that God would make in her. God was going to invest His resources in Mary, and the result would later turn out to be a great child like none other.

Friend, hear God’s prophetic word: you will receive a divine investment from God, and that investment will empower you to achieve what God wants you to achieve. God will divinely invest ideas, visions, skills, abilities, strength, wisdom, power, etc in you to enable you achieve the assignment and target He has set for your life. God will cause an uncommon release into your life, to make you achieve uncommon results.

When you spend time in God’s presence, you are simply receiving divine investments. When you listen to God’s word, you are simply giving heaven a chance to release heavenly resources into your destiny. When you pray in the Spirit, you are simply letting the Spirit of God invest more and more in you.

Whatever God invests in you is not a waste of resources; it is a divine seed that will bring an uncommon harvest. If God can invest in you, your greatness is inevitable.

“34. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee…” (Luke 1: 34, 35).
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

When Angel Gabriel announced God’s plan for Mary, Mary asked the Angel how the prophecy will be fulfilled. Mary wasn't yet married to Joseph; she was yet to have sexual intercourse which is the natural pathway to pregnancy and child birth. There was no physical arrangement to make Mary conceive.

Notice that when she queried the Angel, the Angel said, “the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee…”. The Angel implied that God would do it supernaturally, in such a way that Mary would not need to do anything. The fulfillment of that plan was God’s business, not Mary’s.

Friend, every word God has spoken concerning you will be supernaturally fulfilled. Your greatness and next level will come supernaturally; your successes will happen, not because of your strength or ability, but by the power of God. You will become all that God wants you to be, not because you have what it takes to make it happen, but because God has what it takes to fulfill His words concerning you.

The power of God will make impossibilities to become possible. God’s power will do for you what you cannot do for yourself; God’s power will make available to you what you cannot make available to yourself; for every God-ordained dream, vision, ambition, etc that seems impossible to fulfill, God will make it happen by His supernatural power.

God will cause His will for you to come to reality, and no force can stop your manifestation. You may not be able to make it happen, but the supernatural will make it happen.
