The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has apologised for the logistics delay that forced candidates to write the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at night.

The Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Amos Dangut, said that the examination body got information that the paper to be taken on Wednesday was about to be compromised, hence the need to take immediate action.

Many had raised concerns when videos showed some secondary school students in Taraba State, North-Eastern Nigeria, and Ogun State, in the South-West zone of Nigeria, sitting for WASSCE at night on Wednesday.

Addressing the matter, the WAEC boss apologised and stated that the incident won’t recur.

The presidential plane conveying Tinubu landed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja at 4:15 pm.

The president was received on arrival by a delegation led by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

There was also a military honour for the president.


Tinubu will join other regional leaders and dignitaries to celebrate the 50-year existence of the regional bloc.


While in Lagos, Tinubu will on Saturday also inaugurate some projects undertaken by his administration.

Among them are Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road, the flag-off of Section II of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, and the 7th Axial Road.

Tinubu will observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House, Dodan Barracks, before returning to Abuja.

Ahead of the 2027 general election, Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party has told the North that it is time to build trust and remove division between them.

Obi also suggested that the insecurity in Nigeria, especially in the North, rests squarely on the issue of poverty, insisting that Nigeria could be great if its leaders change and invest in humanity.

The Director, Federal Housing Authority has said the 753 duplexes confiscated from Former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, cannot be occupied by the poor.

This statement came after the Federal Government has said it would make available for sale the 753 housing units confiscated from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, to Nigerians.

The development was revealed in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, when the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, alongside the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukoyede, led a joint team on a physical site inspection of the ceased housing estate.

A member of the People Democratic Party, Segun Sowunmi, has said his party needs to explore possible means of bringing back the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, into its fold.

Obi left the PDP in May 2022 for the Labour Party, reportedly complaining of massive bribing of delegates and vote buying during the party’s presidential primary. He also cited the existence of a party clique collaborating against him.

But three years later, Sowunmi is asking the PDP to work to bring Obi back.
