BlessedGift: Over 80 staff at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the Wadata Plaza secretariat, on Wednesday appealed to all waring factions in the party to sheath their swords, to save the party from from further acrimonies.
In a statement signed by all 83 staff, including members of the management staff, they said they were appealing to the interest of the sustenance of democracy and the interest of our nation, Nigeria
The management and staff of the National Secretariat of the PDP, being Political stakeholders in the affairs of the Party expressed deep concerns over the crises that had rocked the party for the past few years, especially since the 2023 general election
“The management and staff of the National Secretariat of the PDP are deeply concerned that in the last one year, the PDP has been engulfed with very disturbing leadership issues, particularly over the office of the National Secretary.”
The staff noted that the disputation was worsened by protracted litigations, violent disruption of activities at the Party secretariat and damaging media narratives which pose a serious threat to the stability and survival of the Party, as well as the credibility of its internal processes.
“It is to be noted that staff of the National Secretariat are among the key Stakeholders in the affairs of the Party because many of them have spent 20-25 years of their working life striving to establish and grow the bureaucracy of the Party and are bestowed with the institutional memory of the Party.
“Therefore, members of staff are desirous and concerned about getting these problems solved without further delay.
The workers recalled the origin of the contentious issues, starting with the struggle for the position of the National Secretary of the PDP, which started in April 2023, after Samuel Anyanwu contested and won the nomination as the candidate of the PDP for the November 11, 2023, Governorship election in Imo State.
“In the belief that upon his nomination as the Gubernatorial Candidate of our Party, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu has automatically resigned his position as the National Secretary, the South East Zonal Chapter on the 20th of October, 2023, passed a resolution approving and forwarding the name of Hon. S.K.E. Udeh Okoye to the NWC as replacement for Senator Anyanwu.”
They noted that this development sparked off a disputation including series of litigations from the High Court of Enugu which on 22nd December, 2023 delivered judgement in favour of Hon. Udeh-Okoye, to the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which in its judgement delivered on 20th December 2024 upheld the judgement of the Enugu High Court.
“Upon the judgment of the Court of Appeal, the organs and leadership bodies of the Party, namely the Board of Trustees, the NWC, the South East Zonal Caucus and the PDP Governors’ Forum recognised Hon. Udeh Okoye as the National Secretary of the Party.
“Dissatisfied, Senator Anyanwu went to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court, in a landmark judgement delivered on March 21, 2025, affirmed that the issue of Party leadership positions, including that of the National Secretary, is entirely an internal affair of the Party, requiring only the Party’s internal mechanism to which the courts have no jurisdiction.

A former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman and senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has dismissed concerns that the growing number of lawmakers defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) poses a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
Oshiomhole responded to questions regarding the recent defection of three senators to the APC, bringing the party’s total strength in the Senate to 68, edging closer to a two-thirds majority.
“Whether this is a danger to democracy? No, I don’t think so,” he stated on Tuesday.
According to him, an APC majority will not eliminate debates or dissent in the National Assembly, noting that lawmakers often vote based on issues, not party lines.
“If you’ve been following debates in the Senate, sometimes you can’t even distinguish who is PDP or APC in terms of the positions people take,” he said.

BlessedGift: “We need to be focused; our evening here is about Pa Clark. It’s not about Fubara, please. And like I said, it’s about Pa Clark; every other thing that is said here, every other admonition by whoever, is your personal view, and it does not speak or does not present the purpose of this evening,” Fubara said.
The embattled governor disclosed on Sunday at the service of songs held in honour of the late elder statesman, Edwin Clark, organised by the Rivers Elders Forum in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
“It’s not about shouting ‘Oshobe, Oshobe.’ At a point, that doesn’t solve anything. I had to be here because Pa Clark was special to me. My presence today is the most significant contribution I can make to honour him.”
He cautioned that the event’s focus should remain on paying tribute to the late Pa Clark and not veer into political territory.
“This programme is a tribute to Pa Clark. It’s not about Sim Fubara,” he stressed. “Even though I respect the message from the bishop, today is not the time for political declarations. Otherwise, people will leave here saying Fubara gathered his supporters to attack the minister or the President. That’s not my mission.”
He also stated that he now enjoys peace of mind and better health and called on all to draw inspiration from the late Chief Clark’s life, particularly his dedication to unity, justice, and peace in the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
Accompanying Governor Fubara were Senator John Azuta Mbata, Senator Adawari Michael Pepple, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka, Chief Hanny Woko, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Dr. Edison Ehie, and Chief Theodore Georgewill.

Funflipper: The economy didn't cause anything. These are people who have no proper foundation so there is nothing to build upon intellectually. That is why they go into prostitution, armed robbery and all forms of social vices. They can't make a decent living because they don't have the intellectually capacity and are morally bankrupt with zero self esteem and to cap it all, they are filled with empty pride so rather than do menial jobs to make a decent living which is the only thing they are cut out for in all honesty; they go for the quick fix and that is why Nigeria is where it is today because we have too many people in that category.
The President, Nigerian Community, Cote D’Ivoire, Micheal Emeka Onwuchelu, noted that Nigerian girls are trapped in forests in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali as gold miners.
Onwuchelu disclosed this on Saturday night when the Nigerian government received 78 out of the 115 victims rescued from the bondage of human trafficking in Cote d’Ivoire.
Air Peace has airlifted 78 trafficked Nigerian women from Côte d’Ivoire, providing free evacuation, medical support, and psychosocial assistance.
He explained that many of the girls were subjected to horrific experiences including being forced to marry to farmers, calling on the federal government to pay attention to its female citizens.
“I know very well and they know too well. I have sent this message to the appropriate authority that Nigerians, mostly minors, are trapped in Cote d’Ivoire. Where they were trapped is in the forest.
He said the exploitation in the gold mining business is rooted in Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
“These are the four major countries in West Africa where you know that gold is being mined. So these are the areas where you see them in thousands.
“There is a city, or a camp, that is where you get over 200 Nigerian girls and a greater number of them will be mining over there,” he said.
“It’s only in the forest that’s where they mine gold. So I think the federal government of Nigeria will pay serious attention because most of these girls die in this cause,” he said.
The 78 victims who returned via Air Peace Airline landed at Terminal 2 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos included 75 adults and three children. Out of them, 73 were female while two were male.
The returnees were received in Lagos by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Nigerian Community in Cote D’Ivoire.
Speaking about the ordeal of the victims, the representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Regina Ocheni, stressed that some of the rescued victims rescinded their decision to return to Nigeria at the airport.
She emphasised that the ministry in collaboration with the NAPTIP would ensure their return to the country.
“At the point of getting to the airport, some of them had a change of mind. That’s why I said the mission is still working on that and with time we will bring them back to Nigeria,” he said.

Sheuns: It’s sad. Our politicians have over the decades purposefully crippled public education systems that they are far from what they used to be when they were younger.
The effects are what we are seeing now, mass failures, students not interested in learning etc.
They know if they invest a lot in education, they would have less sycophants to sing their praises and cheer them on when they build a few kilometers of roads and tag them “projects”.
Sapeleboy911: Use your brain if you have any. Yes, he can sue EFCC just as others have sued him for various comments he made about them. You are a typical example of a slave valuing his chains more than his life.
BlessedGift: A viral video making the rounds on Friday captured a heartwarming moment as Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stepped back into the classroom to teach at an as-yet unidentified school.

Popular activist Martin ‘VeryDarkMan (VDM)’ Otse has broken his silence two days after his release from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody.
It was reported that the anti-graft agency arrested and detained VDM for six days over alleged financial crimes.
Since his release, the activist has remained silent until Friday, when he posted a video on his Instagram page revealing that his mobile phone is still with the EFCC.
He further alleged that the EFCC logged him out of his iCloud account and threatened legal action against the Commission if it published his mugshot alongside an alleged ‘money laundering’ charge.
This newspaper also gathered that on the day of his release, VDM claimed he was arrested and detained on allegations of money laundering.
He questioned how someone as poor as himself could be involved in such an offence.
He said: “EFCC, now that we’re trying to become friends, let me be honest: what could ruin this new friendship is what I’m about to say. If you (EFCC) release the picture you took of me (the mugshot), and I see ‘money laundering’ written on it, that’s where the problem will start. If we’re going to be friends, where I can help report scammers and other issues, and you arrest and prosecute them, then let’s keep it that way. But if you (EFCC) release my mugshot with ‘money laundering’ on it, you’ll have to prove that charge to Nigerians.
“That might be the first open case we’ll do with every detail posted online. We’ll go to court repeatedly. The EFCC is powerful because it’s the government, but I’ll stress that it damages its reputation and integrity. It will show that many things they post online about people are untrue. They will prove the money laundering; otherwise, it will cast doubt on all the people they’ve arrested and prosecuted for similar charges. If this friendship is genuine, that label, money laundering, has to go. I saw it in detention and told you I would discuss it.”
Money laundering Meanwhile, the activist said the anti-graft agency can release his mugshot alongside any charges, but gave conditions.
“If the charge is tax evasion, I won’t argue. But if it’s money laundering, if they don’t prove it, then as far as I’m concerned, every charge they post against anyone is questionable. I’ll consider it false, just like what they’ve done to me.
“Now that the EFCC has logged me out of my iCloud, they control everything on that phone, which contains a lot of evidence. That phone is gone, and I suspect they don’t want me to publish anything from it”, said VDM.
Enter GTBank Additionally, VDM vowed to reveal what transpired at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank).
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, and some of his supporters alleged he was arrested at GTBank, an allegation the bank debunked in a video that showed when VDM left the premises.
This newspaper learnt that before his arrest last Friday, VDM posted on his Instagram page that he was at GTBank with his mother to complain about continuous deductions from her account.
Speaking about his intention to expose what happened at the bank, he said: “As for GTBank, I’m coming for you too. I will expose to the world what you people did. It’s wild. I saw the videos you posted online and thought, ‘What the hell are they doing? Did they think I would die in EFCC custody?’
“The only thing that can save GTBank now is if the EFCC deleted the video. If the videos are still on my phone, GTBank is in trouble. And if the EFCC deleted the video, that’s another problem for the EFCC. “
