BlessedGift: Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, received the Premier League trophy at the State House in Marina, reiterating his administration’s commitment to using sports as a tool for youth engagement and social development.
The trophy was presented by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr Girish Sharma, as part of the company’s efforts to connect Nigerian football fans with the globally celebrated football league.
This was contained in a press release signed by the special adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.
Speaking during the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu described the Premier League as an inspiration to millions of young people.
He said, “We are excited that Guinness identifies with us by bringing the Premier League Trophy to Lagos. It is a trophy that everybody believes is inspirational. It is about using sports as a change agent. It is about using sports as a way of connecting to the youth demographic that we have.
“It is about using sports as a weapon to be able to identify the skills, capacity and capability of our young people. It is about using sports as a strong connection to be socially responsible citizens and individuals and to use it as a means of engagement.”
Sanwo-Olu also praised Guinness Nigeria for its investments in sports and social initiatives, urging the company to consider facilitating visits by Premier League teams to Lagos during off-season breaks.
He stated, “One of the things that I am going to throw back to you is to see how some of the teams, during their summer break, can come around for two or three days. We don’t bite people, we don’t eat people, we are just fans. We just want to hug them and take a selfie with them. We want the teams to come and see millions of their fans and identify with the country and the State.
“We want to assure you that we will continue to make Lagos hospitable and habitable for businesses to do well and thrive. We will continue to make the environment worthwhile for every corporate organisation because we know that it is by doing that that we can develop the economy, we can grow, and people can see a better life for one another.”

During the meeting of President Tinubu with the Alaafin of Oyo and some Yoruba traditional rulers, this leadership concept was interestingly displayed.
While the President was thanking the Alaafin for fostering peace and harmony among Yoruba traditional rulers, his Aide-de-camp, who doubles as the Elemona-elect, interjected.
President Tinubu beckoned him to come and speak to the mic. He said "come, come and tell them".

Bobloco: Tinubu is Nigeria’s de-marketer-in-chief.
What serious foreign investor would commit capital to a country led by an individual whose early life remains shrouded in mystery where the first twenty years of his life are undocumented, his biological parents are unknown, and there is no verifiable record of his primary or secondary education?
Which investor would trust a nation led by a man once implicated in narcotics trafficking, who forfeited over $460,000 to the United States government in connection with drug-related proceeds, and who remains visibly unsettled whenever legal decisions from the U.S. threaten to unearth further details?
Who would risk investing in a country where the president routinely travels to Europe for holidays while the nation grapples with deepening insecurity, widespread hunger, and increasing poverty?
What confidence can investors have in a government where the president’s son, holding no constitutional office, can allegedly order violent attacks on citizens, threaten lives, and boast of impunity, simply because of his father’s position?
Why would anyone invest in a country where the president openly disregards the rule of law, violates constitutional provisions, and acts as the chief lawbreaker in a system that demands his protection of democratic norms?
And finally, who would invest in a country where the president can unilaterally declare a state of emergency, remove a duly elected governor, deputy governor and members of a state house of assembly without any constitutional backing, while the National Assembly watches in silence?
This is the image Nigeria currently presents to the world under Tinubu's leadership, one of uncertainty, lawlessness, and institutional decay.
these people think say na everybody no get sense like them. And they will even be bold to call anybody names, people wey supposed to hide their faces in shame
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, says he thinks of President Bola Tinubu as Joseph the dreamer because he has the courage to achieve many goals.
According to Umahi, God has helped Tinubu to actualise all his dreams.
The minister said this while presenting his ministry’s performance at the Ministerial Press Briefing in Abuja.
He said when the President tasked him with the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project, he drew inspiration from the Eko Atlantic project, the success of which is attributed to Tinubu’s performance as Governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.
“Mr. President is a man of courage. I call him the Joseph the dreamer, and God has helped him to make flesh all his dreams. I commend him very highly,” Umahi said.
Earlier in his presentation, Umahi commended Tinubu for commencing the Sokoto-Badagry road project, which according to him, was an idea that former President Shehu Shagari conceived 47 years ago.
He said, “The good news is the Sokoto-Badagry. This was a dream of the Shagari administration about 47 years back. And it was supposed to be Badagry-Sokoto, but a very detribalised President directed us to change it to Sokoto-Badagry.”
Umahi said only a man with great courage and the power of dreams could engage in such a project.
The former Governor of Ebonyi further praised Tinubu for his performance since he assumed office in May 2023.

BlessedGift: Media personality Enioluwa Adeoluwa has joined the growing list of public figures condemning the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its handling of the 2025 UTME crisis.
Enioluwa expressed outrage at the exam body’s tweet that read in part, “Man Proposes, God Disposes," stressing that it was utter wickedness to say such over the mass failure.
The actor went on to say that their response reflects the callousness and irresponsibility with which life-changing errors are often handled in Nigeria.
It’s the levity with which we treat serious issues that’s heartbreaking. People are saying they’ve been stuck at home for three years, unable to go to the university because of an exam body’s failure. That’s someone’s entire future being stolen—because someone simply refuses to do their job.
And instead of outrage, he’s crying and people are clapping. I always say it: many Nigerians have never lived or worked in a functional system, and that’s why we’ve normalised dysfunction. We think it’s okay—but it’s not. This is terrible!
I’m honestly so angry. It means you simply don’t care. To look at all those affected by the issue—people who have lost children, people whose children have sat at home for years doing nothing—and still tweet, ‘Man proposes, God disposes,’ is pure wickedness. What an unkind thing to say at a time like this.

Nenadi Usman, Chair of the caretaker committee of the Labour Party, has blasted the embattled Chairman of Labour party, Julis Abure, for acting in a way to send away the only Governor the party has.
She also challenged Abure to expose Peter Obi if he has anything against him.
Recall that Abure had threatened to expose the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi
The factional national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), publicly challenged Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti to name any party member who received funds meant for the last general elections.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday at the LP national secretariat in Utako, Abuja, Abure accused elected LP officials of plotting to unseat the national leadership despite the sacrifices that brought them into power.
“We rejected billions of naira, we rejected offers because of their positions, but today, they are at the forefront of those who want to throw us out of office,” Abure said.
He said that the party did not receive any money from Otti for his governorship ticket, insisting that the leadership made no financial demands in return for support.
The chairman challenged both Obi and Otti to publicly declare what they gave to the party, and whom they gave it to.

The House of Representatives has passed the second reading of a bill seeking to amend the Electoral Act 2022 to make voting compulsory for all eligible Nigerians. The proposed law aims to combat voter apathy and deepen democratic participation across the country.
The bill, jointly sponsored by Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and Hon. Daniel Asama Ago, mandates that all Nigerians aged 18 and above must participate in elections or face legal consequences. According to the provisions of the bill, failure to vote without a valid excuse could attract a fine of up to ₦100,000 or a jail term of up to six months.
Lawmakers backing the amendment say the move is necessary to boost civic responsibility and ensure broader representation in governance. “We are witnessing alarming levels of voter apathy. This bill is a proactive step to reawaken civic consciousness and protect the health of our democracy,” Hon. Ago stated during plenary.
The bill also outlines acceptable grounds for exemption, including health challenges, religious beliefs, or being resident outside the country. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will be tasked with managing exemption requests and ensuring enforcement is carried out in line with citizens’ rights.
Supporters of the bill cite examples from countries like Australia and Belgium, where mandatory voting has led to high voter turnout and more accountable governments. They believe Nigeria can adopt a similar model to curb electoral manipulation and vote-buying.
However, not all lawmakers are on board. Some members raised concerns about the bill’s feasibility, citing infrastructural gaps and existing mistrust in the electoral process. “We cannot compel people to vote in an election they do not believe in,” one member argued.
With the bill now forwarded to the House Committee on Electoral Matters for further scrutiny, its fate will be determined in the coming weeks. If passed and signed into law, Nigeria could join the ranks of countries enforcing mandatory voting — a move that could significantly reshape the nation’s democratic landscape.

BlessedGift: Peter Obi has commended the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, for admitting to glitches in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but said such errors should be avoided in the future.
Peter Obi has commended the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, for admitting to glitches in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but said such errors should be avoided in the future.
Oloyede had, in a rare admission while fighting back tears, said some errors affected candidates’ performance in the examination, which was conducted across the country earlier in the year.
Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, while lauding Oloyede for admitting to the mistakes, said efforts should be made to prevent a similar recurrence.
“His open admission of fault and the expression of deep remorse stand out as a rare but commendable display of accountability in our public institutions,” Obi wrote on his X handle on Thursday about the entrance examination into tertiary schools, saying it “raises a very concerning issue on glitches and the grave havoc it’s creating in our country, even in critical institutions like JAMB”.
“There must be no room for further glitches – not in JAMB, not in any arm of government. The cost of repeated failure is simply too high,” he said.
The former Anambra State governor said JAMB’s willingness to own up to its shortcomings is worthy of recognition, but “the incident has brought to light a far more troubling reality: the persistent fragility of our institutional systems”.
“The emotional and psychological toll on students, and even parents, some of whom have reportedly suffered severe trauma, and in heartbreaking cases, even death, serves as a reminder of what is at stake,” the LP chieftain said.
“The integrity of examination processes and the reliability of public institutions are not optional; they are foundational to any nation’s progress.”
He called on JAMB and other similar agencies to “adopt comprehensive quality assurance frameworks”.
The LP chieftain listed these to include “rigorous testing and constant auditing of technical infrastructure,” asking for “transparent communication with candidates and stakeholders” among others as “essential to restoring public confidence”.
During the press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the JAMB registrar said, “It is our culture to admit errors because we know that in spite of the best of our efforts, we are human; we are not perfect”.
He announced that about 379,997 candidates in the just concluded 2025 exercise would retake the examination.
His admission followed an outrage and outcry over technical glitches, unusually low scores, and alleged irregularities in the questions and the answers in the 2025 UTME.
That prompted JAMB to review the conduct of the examination after establishing that a technical glitch affected 157 out of the 887 centres.
A breakdown of the 2025 UTME results by the agency had shown that over 1.5 million of the 1.95 million candidates who took the examination scored below 200, prompting outcry from Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Many parents and students are protesting the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), citing unusually low scores.
Parents stormed the JAMB office in Lagos to express their displeasure, noting that over 78% of candidates scored below 200 out of a possible 400 points. The students and their families have also taken to social media to demand a review of the results.
