After President Bola Tinubu brokered pace between Suspended Governor of Rivers State and the FCT Minister, the duo have been getting along in peace. Fubara was in the former Rivers state Governor's residence in PortHarcourt.
Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers, says no sacrifice is too big to ensure peace, stability, and progress in the state.
Speaking to his supporters some hours later, Fubara reassured them that his recent reconciliation with Wike was made with the collective interest of Rivers people in mind.
Acknowledging the disappointment and anxiety among some loyalists over the peace deal, Fubara said difficult times require difficult decisions.
The suspended governor admitted that the new political realities may be hard to accept, especially for those who have stood by him through the crisis, but said the ultimate goal is peace and stability in the state.
Former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has warned that the worst of defections from the party is yet to come, but maintained that the PDP remains committed to rebuilding and repositioning itself for the 2027 general elections.
He also cleared the air on the unresolved position of the party’s National Secretary, saying, “As far as (INEC is) concerned, the person that they see as a secretary, as of today, is Senator Sam Anyanwu.”
As head of the reconciliation committee, Saraki said the team has not failed and is laying groundwork for unity and structure. “Until this point, none of us had accepted any secretary. We’re starting the process of doing the right thing. So if we can address the issue of the secretary, then we can go to NEC, then go to convention, and then hopefully at convention we will have a newly elected executive.”
He also saw opportunity in the ongoing turmoil. “Those that want to leave, let them leave. Maybe it’s an opportunity… those who are staying, clearly they’re staying, they’re very committed. Let’s use this opportunity to start to rebuild for the future,” Saraki said.
Looking ahead, Saraki confirmed that the PDP is already preparing to field a strong presidential candidate. “Exactly. We are thinking to ensure that we have a credible, serious candidate… We’re not yet at home, but we’re laying foundation to make PDP a good and attractive platform.”

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bode George, said that the next National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the party will deal decisively with all those found to be working against it.
This is even as he said that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, doesn’t own the PDP, claiming the party is not like the All Progressives Congress, APC, which, according to him, is owned by one individual.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has lamented the show of ego by some party members saying that “Money does not solve everything”.
He further said that there is no need for a directive to reinstate Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as he had already been functioning in that role.
Wike stated this during the inauguration of the newly constructed Interchange Bridge from Wole Soyinka Way to Murtala Mohammed Expressway in the FCT.
“Samuel Anyanwu does not need anyone to direct him to resume,” he said.
Speaking further he said, “If you want to learn, come, we will teach you.”
As tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party escalate, former National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, has criticised the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, over his comments directed at the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
Ologbondiyan condemned Damagum’s action as unacceptable and a direct challenge to the authority of both the National Executive Committee and the National Working Committee, as well as an insult to the sensibilities of party members.

The man, identified as Alex, stood and acknowledged the applause. However, the president’s comment swiftly ignited scrutiny online and among political observers.
Media Personality, Vimbai Ekpenyong has said Alex, Tinubu's Chicago School Mate has shady deals in Zimbabwe, Zambia and not new to Africa.
Fresh controversy has erupted over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records after he introduced a Belarusian businessman, Alex Zingman, as his former classmate at Chicago State University during a public event in Abuja on Monday, June 23.
Speaking at the launch of the Renewed Hope Agriculture Mechanisation Programme, President Tinubu pointed to a man in the crowd, stating, “To all of you, Alex was my very good neighbor, and went to the same school with me in Chicago. Never did we dream that I would be in this position as President of Nigeria and Alex, a successful businessman from Belarus.”
The man, identified as Alex, stood and acknowledged the applause. However, the president’s comment swiftly ignited scrutiny online and among political observers.
Investigations quickly linked the man to Alex Zingman, a Belarusian national allegedly involved in controversial arms deals and financial activities across Africa.
The 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran also known as Jandor, says President Bola Tinubu, unlike his predecessor Muhammadu Buhari, won’t hesitate to remove any service chief who isn’t performing.
Media Personality Ruben Abati has said that the then Governor Bola Tinubu, now President of Nigeria, was made Lagos Governor in recognition of his June 12 struggles.
Recall that Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa state, claimed President Bola Tinubu threw his weight behind the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Lamido said Tinubu’s late mother, Hajia Mogaji organized market women from Lagos to Abuja to show support for the then head of state, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.
He said he feels highly entertained by Tinubu’s rhetoric and the way he’s dramatising his role in Nigeria’s democracy, hence his decision to make the bold statement about the President’s involvement in the June 12 annulment.
Tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) reached a boiling point on Saturday as Vice President Kashim Shettima pointedly refused to shake hands with the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, in what many see as a public display of dissatisfaction amid a growing rift over the 2027 presidential running mate ticket.
A member of the new political coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said that the presidential ticket of the political alignment will not be zoned to any region in particular.
Okonkwo, who was the spokesperson for the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, said that aspirants from both the Northern and Southern region of the country would be allowed to contest for the ticket.
“I have said it clearly, nobody is going to stop anybody from contesting for the presidential ticket in the coalition, nobody,” he said.
Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu threw his weight behind Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida’s decision to annul the June 12, 1993, election won by the late Moshood Abiola.
In an exclusive interview with AriseNews on Sunday morning, Lamido stated that he feels highly entertained by Tinubu’s rhetoric and the way he’s dramatising his role in Nigeria’s democracy, hence his decision to make the bold statement about the President’s involvement in the June 12 annulment.
He stated that President Tinubu was in the Senate as the secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), after which he became more prominent and noticeable in Nigeria’s politics following the takeover of the government by the late Gen. Sani Abacha.
”I feel highly entertained by Tinubu’s rhetoric, the way he’s dramatising his role in Nigeria’s democracy. Tinubu became relevant and noticeable after Abacha took over the government; before then, he was in the senate while he was the secretary of the party. He was part of those who supported IBB’s annulment of the June 12 election.
”His mother, Hajia Mogaji, was organising Lagos market women to come to Abuja to pledge support for Babangida. Tinubu was actively hand-in-glove with Babangida. NADECO was postulated to fight Abacha, not for June 12,” Lamido revealed.
Last month, Lamido also charged President Tinubu to be courageous enough and pay the alleged N45 billion owed to the family of Chief MKO Abiola by the federal government. He believed that paying the 45 billion debt to the family would offer symbolic closure to the June 12 struggle and acknowledge Abiola’s unjust treatment.
“When General Murtala Muhammed died, Abiola came in with a claim that he was owed, I think, about N45bn for contracts executed by International Telephone and Telecommunication for the Ministry of Communications. The military high command at that time said no. He went around the emirs in the North to lobby, and the emirs asked that they, the military, please pay the money.
“They said they cancelled the June 12 elections because if they made him president, he would take his money and the country would become bankrupt. Those who were close to Abacha should know this because Abacha was then one of the big shots; they were all aware.
”I want to appeal to President Tinubu to finally close the chapter on June 12. In his book, General Ibrahim Babangida acknowledged that Abiola won the election. When I visited him, he also confirmed that Abiola is owed N45 billion. He was doubly punished: first, denied the presidency, second, denied what is owed to him,” Lamido said.

Dr. Lelonu Nwibubasa, Former Commissioner of Empowerment and Employment Generation, Rivers State has said Rivers' alien electoral Chair appointment is embarrassing, and complete disrespect from the Tinubu's administration.
According to him, "I'm surprised that the President hasn't reviewed the state of emergency declaration, despite widespread condemnation. Instead, the administration seems to be exacerbating the situation by dismantling Rivers' political structures and appointing outsiders. The appointment of a non-native chairman for the state electoral body would set a concerning precedent."
The governor of Kaduna, Uba Sani revealed that the new CNG buses would be made free for students, civil servants and pensioners for the next six months.

He highlighted sweeping reforms in the state in education and rural development, saying over 535 schools shut due to insecurity have now reopened, and more than 500,000 hectares of farmland have been revived.

Queued to receive him were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; the host Governor, Uba Sani, and the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

The charges stem from comments the senator allegedly made during a televised interview and a separate private phone conversation, which the government claims were intended to damage reputations in violation of sections 391 and 392 of the Penal Code, Cap 89, Laws of the Federation, 1990.

According to Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Former Head of State, "I had a responsibility and duty as a loyal Nigerian to keep the country whole. From the beginning, I ensured that this was not a war against Igbos as such, but one to stop the breaking up of Nigeria. I gave a code of conduct of how the operations were to go; soldiers on the Nigerian side were to protect the people, especially women and children, and take up arms only against those who had taken arms against them. The number of people who were casualties of the war is not in millions. The other side also refused all attempts to send aid into their camp."

He made the pledge during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network.

Shawarmagirl: We all know the reason. Not enough content kpai you there.
I stand before you today to flag up the construction of a new national office, the INEC of the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, right here in Abuja. Today’s ceremony is not merely about bricks and mortar, it is about the strength of our democracy, the independence of our institutions, and the future of our electoral integrity."
VladimirTheGrea: Which democracy? The one you were never voted for? You didn't win key states, so how did INEC perform the magic for you?
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said the construction of the new National Headquarters Annex of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja is more than just a physical development project, it is a bold reaffirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to democracy and electoral integrity.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, Tinubu described the edifice as a symbolic and strategic investment in the nation’s democratic future.
He said, “I stand before you today to flag up the construction of a new national office, the INEC of the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, right here in Abuja. Today’s ceremony is not merely about bricks and mortar, it is about the strength of our democracy, the independence of our institutions, and the future of our electoral integrity.
“INEC has been and remains the backbone of Nigeria’s democratic journey. Its role in conducting free, fair, and credible elections is central to the trust our people place in their government and in our democratic process. For this reason, it is only right that such a pivotal institution is housed in a structure that reflects the dignity, responsibility, and national significance of that institution.”
