Reactions have trailed the declaration of support for President Tinubu in 2027 by Anambra state Governor, Charles Soludo.
Recall that ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Bola Tinubu’s second term got a major boost as Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, yesterday, declared that the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has adopted him as its presidential candidate (Tinubu).
APGA’s adoption was received with mixed reactions from stakeholders in the South-East.
While it is seen as a major boost for the president as his support base continues to widen in the South-East and South-South zones, critics argue that adoption was done in desperation.
Already, the All Progressives Congress, APC, controls two (Imo and Ebonyi) out of the five states in the South-East zone.
As it stands, the President may be having an edge in the zone as another South-East governor, who is seen as his close ally, may support Tinubu’s second term ambition.

The Nenadi Usman has showed his Labour Party membership card, following accusations by Julius Abure, the embattled national chairman that she is not a registered member of the Labour party.
“It will surprise Nigerians and party faithfuls that the name of one Nenadi Usman was conspicuously omitted from the list of the suspended members of the party. First, we have said repeatedly that the said Nenadi Usman was and is not a member of the Labour Party being not a card carrying member of the Party.
“We are aware that she is a member of the Obidient Support group that worked and is still working for the party’s 2023 presidential candidate. We will therefore not honour her with any sanction being not a member of the party," he said.

Dpaulie: I bet he's just doing that to fulfill all the righteousness...South Eastern votes made any impact on Tinubu being a president in 2023, yes or no?
Traditional rulers in Anambra State on Thursday conferred a chieftaincy title of ‘Dike Si Mba’ of Anambra on President Bola Tinubu.
The Traditional rulers led by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka of Obosi, gave the President the title in Awka during his official visit to the state.
‘Dike Si Mba’ loosely translates to ‘Hero from another land’, was given to President Tinubu by the traditional rulers representing all the communities in Anambra State.
Tinubu, who is in Anambra State on official visit, arrived at the Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri around 12:15pm, and was received by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim and other government officials.
Tinubu inaugurated Anambra State’s first-ever Government House on Thursday, marking a historic milestone more than 30 years after the state’s creation.
Tinubu also inaugurated several other projects done by the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
It is the President’s second visit to the South-East this year after visiting Enugu State in January.
President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, Anambra State, for an official visit to the state.
On the President’s entourage was the special adviser on security, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, among others.
The Nigerian leader arrived on board the Nigerian Air Force Airbus at about 12:17 pm, wearing the Akwete Igbo fabric with a red cap to match, and headed straight to the podium where the national anthem was sung.
Present to receive the president at the airport were the Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; his Deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim; members of the House of Assembly; top dignitaries from the state, among others.
Tinubu, after receiving some gun salutes from personnel of the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, entered into an official car waiting for him with Soludo, where he is being taken to where he is expected to commence the business of his visit.
The president is expected to commission some “legacy” projects completed by the Soludo administration.
Among the projects to be commissioned by the president are the New State Government House, Solution Fun City, the New Governor’s Lodge, built for the first time in 34 years, and the revamped House of Assembly, among others.
According to a statement by the special adviser to the state governor on political matters, Dr Alex Obiogbolu, on Thursday, Tinubu, during the official working visit, is expected to host a high-level town hall meeting between the president and key stakeholders in the state at the newly refurbished Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Obiogbolu had reportedly warned party members not to wear party uniforms at the venue.
At the moment, everywhere is wearing a new look in Awka, the state capital, in anticipation of the arrival of the president.

The Kano State Government has announced sweeping new regulations aimed at controlling media content across the state.
The move has sparked controversy and drawn criticism from civil society groups and political commentators who say it threatens free speech and democratic engagement.
The statement announcing the resolutions was signed by Sani Abba Yola, Director of Special Duties at the Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.
At a high-level quarterly meeting convened by the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, the State Commissioner, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, said the initiative is intended to "safeguard Kano’s cultural and moral integrity."
Media executives from various outlets were in attendance at the meeting, “aimed to reinforce ethical journalism, promote mutual respect, and strengthen collaboration between the media and government”.
Waiya commended media leaders for their role in curbing what he described as "unethical content" and noted a reduction in the use of abusive language on public platforms.
He emphasised that the new guidelines are not designed to stifle free expression but to ensure responsible communication in line with the values of Kano State.
However, several of the directives announced have drawn criticism, with some observers describing them as veiled attempts to suppress political opposition and limit critical voices in the media.
Among the key provisions is a requirement that all guests on radio and television programmes sign an undertaking to refrain from making remarks considered abusive, defamatory, or offensive to Kano’s cultural values.
The directives also include a blanket ban on live political programmes across all media outlets and prohibit presenters from asking provocative questions or making gestures that could be interpreted as damaging to the image of the state.
The government also disclosed that it has conducted sensitisation campaigns targeting political broadcasters, media commentators, and religious figures to promote what it calls "responsible communication."
While the government insists the policies are rooted in a desire to uphold social harmony and cultural values, opponents argue that the bans and undertakings amount to censorship and undermine the role of the media in holding power to account.
Despite the backlash, media executives at the meeting expressed a willingness to continue cooperating with the government. They also offered recommendations on improving content standards and fostering a peaceful media environment.

Brenbentondiaz: It's funny really. The people you call cowards came out and protested and made sure a president they didn't like was kicked out of power, while you creatures that chestbeat regularly on how brave you are are wailing and weeping in hiding about a government that you don't like, but you dare not protest because you're a bunch of wimps and pansies. Lolz.
BlessedGift: “where are those who protested during Jonathan? Where are they?” “People protested when petrol went from 87naira to 120naira, now 900naira no protests. People protested when 1$ was 180naira, now 1,500Naira to 1$.”

Golde58: Keep deceiving yourself with your fake SW affinity with SS. The SS has a more natural affinity to SE because there are more than 9 million ethnic igbos who are indigenous to the SS. Also, it is obvious that your fake love for SS is motivated by oil, and I can tell you for free that you're on your own. Also, Igbo people make their money through hardwork and grit, not the so-called fetish things. And as far as money r*tuals go, SW is the skull mining capital of Nigeria.
BlessedGift: The senator representing Edo North of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, Wednesday, stated that the media committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) mischievously attributed the “join APC, your sins are forgiven,” comment to him.
Oshiomhole stated that he never inferred such statement, adding that his comment was mischievously twisted.
The “join APC, your sins are forgiven” comment was reportedly made at a political rally in 2019 where the APC received PDP defectors to its fold.
The reported comment at the time drew wide condemnation from Nigerians and is still being referenced sarcastically in political discourse.
Six years after, Oshiomhole said; “I have issued statements to deny it. They (media) don’t have the proof. I have asked them to provide the video clips where I made the comment.”
He continued, “A man, Patrick Iluobe was defecting from the PDP to APC and his father’s name, Iluobe in their dialect means: I have stopped doing bad.
“So, I said now that you are leaving PDP, a party that deceive people, you will stop doing bad.
“The media guys who are committed to the PDP mischievously twisted that Oshiomhole said once you join APC, all your sins are forgiven.”

Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has asked Nigerians not to blame the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for inheriting a struggling economy from its predecessor.
According to him, when they say President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR should return Nigeria to where he met it, I wonder if they really understand exactly where Nigeria was before Asiwaju came to the rescue.
