Abaki5: Of what use is this power they always want to hold just for nothing rather than their own interest not for Nigerians as a whole no future plan to ease the stress they are putting us all
Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, does not honour agreements.
As at 2023, APC was down because the Buhari government was not doing well.
“A decision had to be taken on who to support and when I looked at it, Atiku was not an option, so it’s a no-go area.
“One thing you must know is that Atiku does not keep to his words, I can tell you authoritatively what happened in 2019. Atiku, Saraki, and Secondus came to see me that I was going to nominate Attorney General and Minister of Petroleum.
“When we lost the election, the man who was supposed to be the Attorney General did not know when the legal team was constituted.
I called Saraki, you people constituted legal team but you said I was going to bring the AG — that’s the point I’m making, people don’t keep to their words.
“I know from day one that Atiku will never keep to his words and I have never banked on that, it was very clear that I made the right decision and you can’t see me now saying I will support who for president? How?”
Wike insisted that his decision to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election was the right call.
“PDP is not ready and it’s very obvious,” he said.
“You don’t need to like me, what I’m saying is that, is it going to help the party? All this power struggle is not going to help us.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will remain in power until 2031, adding that no political argument can change his position.
Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday, Wike said Tinubu almost lost the 2023 presidential election due to policies introduced by the former All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, which, according to him, were targeted at making him fail at the polls.
“Whether APC liked it or not, it was very turbulent for Tinubu to have scaled through that election.
“You could see that he could have failed the election woefully. The fuel crisis, the naira issue was terrible,” Wike said.
“No party in government would at that time bring such a policy when you know you are running an election, but everything was done and he survived it.

Reiterating his support for Tinubu, Wike insisted that the South should retain the presidency until 2031 before any consideration for a power shift to the North.
“I have said it in 2023 and I’m saying it again that until 2031, when the position should go to the North, there is nothing anybody will say to me now.
“It’s not anti-party, it’s harmonious living together, you can’t tell me that it’s your own prerogative to be producing president; let’s all live,” he stated.
On the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike issued a warning, threatening to withdraw support for the party in the forthcoming FCT Area Council elections if it fails to put its house in order.
“If PDP does not put their house in order, I’m not going to support them in the area councils election. If PDP goes the way they are going, I will not support them.
“This crisis will consume this party until the right thing is being done. I have never recommended anybody to these governors but that does not mean that I don’t play any role.
“Like the governor of Bayelsa, I played a fundamental role, he can’t deny it,” he added.

Owontime: Na so thus rascal push Fubara to his end,he has started again. When State of Emergency was approved in the House of Reps I didn't hear him say Nay.
Nigeria’s Opposition Lawmakers Coalition has accused the Rivers State sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), of allegedly administering crisis in the state with his pursuit what they called ‘Pro-Wike interest’ in an attempt to provoke the people and through the backdoor to continue to exercise authority over a people that did not elect him.
The Opposition lawmakers coalition in a statement by its spokesperson, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, on Wednesday, warned the sole administrator to stop the reckless actions before he ignites crisis, urging him to leave Rivers and go contest for election if he wants to be president.
The Opposition lawmakers stated that Ibas lacked the powers to even dream of inviting the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara in decades to come, saying that the news of such invitation was a childish baseless joke from the group loyal to FCT minister Nyesom Wike and Ibas from Cross Rivers State.

Mbanda: The difference between NBA and supreme court judges is that supreme court judges made themselves government puppets which is not suppose to be so. While NBA has proven to be an independent body.
House of assembly members and the senate are the legislative body in government but today, they now dine and wine with the executive to the extent that, the executive is not afraid of them anymore. They are now more of a puppet than a respectable legislative body. So you see, the bodies you mentioned are nothing to write home about because of the way they gave their birth rights to the executive which is the government of the day.

Bukayo Saka had a penalty saved before scoring the opener as Arsenal reached the Champions League semi-finals with an assured display in Madrid.
Arsenal completed a 5-1 aggregate win over holders Real Madrid to end their 16-year wait for a Champions League semi-final appearance, Bukayo Saka recovering from having an early penalty saved to put the visitors on their way to a confident victory.
While Arsenal named an unchanged side from their 3-0 first-leg win in London, Madrid restored Aurélien Tchouaméni after a ban - replacing the suspended Eduardo Camavinga - and brought in Lucas Vázquez for Luka Modrić, allowing Federico Valverde to advance to midfield.
If the visitors' selection reflected a desire to continue where they left off, their bright start answered that wish. Key creative presence Bukayo Saka proved their greatest threat, arrowing a fierce shot wide before forcing Thibaut Courtois to beat his drive from distance away.
Saka's best chance of the half would arrive shortly afterwards when Raúl Asencio was adjudged to have impeded Mikel Merino inside the penalty area, only for Courtois to turn the England international's chipped penalty behind and revive the chants of belief emanating from home fans who had been used to seeing their side secure sensational comebacks in the competition.
Canny Arsenal stopped Madrid from producing an attempt on target during the first half, testing Courtois again with the break approaching when Rice - scorer of two superb free-kicks during the first leg - fed Gabriel Martinelli inside the box on the left, the recipient responding with a powerful shot that stung the No1's palms at his near post.
The holders made David Raya make a save when Vinícius Júnior curled a strike into the goalkeeper's arms but Arsenal's continuing comfort level tempted Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti to enact a triple substitution, including the introduction of 18-year-old striker Endrick.
Four minutes later, Arsenal had their fourth goal of the tie and Saka a measure of redemption courtesy of a slick move started by the forward, who set off inside the penalty area to collect Mikel Merino's pass and chip a composed finish beyond Courtois following a beautiful exchange between Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard.

Aliyu, a former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, said Buhari did not endorse former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai’s defection from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He said El-Rufai should not bring down the roof because he did not get a ministerial appointment.
Aliyu, however, urged the APC leadership to engage all blocs within the ruling party to whittle competition and strife before the next poll.
“Politics is about engagement. Politics is about the interests of groups, people, and so on. That is what we are saying: engage more; not only with people from the defunct CPC, but even from the PDP. So that in 2027, there will be less competition,” the Jigawa powerbroker said.
Aliyu said the APC won’t “just sit by and allow” the Atiku Abubakar-led coalition “to take over the government”. “They are strange bedfellows,” he said, adding that the selection of a presidential candidate would thwart the Atiku coalition.

jayce232: Were u the one that drafted the agreement?? Didn't u hear when Rufai said NBA clearly stated there was no binding agreement?? Let Fubara come out & say there is a binding agreement. It is not the position of the sole administrator to decide.
Oscarchims: What is the reason for EFCC.... How una dey reason for this nairaland self... So deep rooted in politics without any sense of reasoning. So bias, talking without thinking

onatisi: This man is an hypocrite ,liar and a betrayer. From all indications he has the interest of Tinubu at heart . How can anyone talk of reconciliation in PDP and talk of making PDP a string opposition party when Wike is still in the party . Wike that controls majority of PDP senators and governors and they listened to him during the last elections . The same Wike has said that he is going to work and ensure that Tinubu wins again in 2027 , so the same Seyi makinde that worked for tinubu to emerge as the president when Tinubu didn't have any presidential powers will now work against Tinubu in 2027 when Tinubu is the sitting president ? This old man knows the truth but he will never never rebuke Wike . As long as Wike remains in PDP ,PDP will work for Tinubu or at worst present a weak candidate . They know that some PDP members will leave for other parties and this will in turn make PDP weaker .
