Not just Bakassi but even south-western cameroon should be brought back into the fold. Time to start F*UC*KIN with all these F*UC*KERS! |
2015 we will write an obituary for Nigeria and the AREWA can go f*uc*k themselves. ![]() GEJ is here to stay until 2019. |
2015, if Jonathan forfeit than it is Igbo turn to produce president or we scatter the f*uck*in country. |
GEJ MAKE OUR LIFE EASY BY DELIVERING THE BRIDGE AND RIVERPORT PLUS AIRPORT AT ENUGU AND WATCH US DELIVER THE VOTE FOR 2015. That is all. ![]() |
chino11: ^@ Chino11 our own nairaland general. Oduogwu.lol I am trying. This development is not impossible but inactivity makes it seem impossible. We will get their by his grace. There is no point for the GEJ administration to rush and commission a sub-standard project wen their is plenty of time for 2015. A job worth doing is worth doing well. |
^ @ PROUD-IGBO It will be cleared at Onitsha by Nigeria Port Authorities (Customs). At Port Harcourt, such Cargoes will merely be transferred to Barges destined for Onitsha. It will be greatly profitable as most Igbos will now directly cargo goods destined for the East to onitsha from all over the world via Akwa Ibom deep seaport. I look forward to utilising the service but that international airport in Onitsha is a priority, at least one terminal. |
Can anyone in-the-know provide pics of the type of vessels that would be berthing at the Port when it's completed? I'm sure they wouldn't be Ocean-going vessels as the bridge isn't high enough. If the containers would be transferred to smaller vessels at Lagos or Port Harcourt, then is there really any need for a customs post at Onitsha?; and if this is the case, wouldn't a refurbished/new Railway link to Onitsha have sufficed?
Some examples. This is Nigeria and Naval Patrol or Waterways Police Patrol of the Rivers will have to be a priority in the Regional, State and Federal Security Agenda.
|
Nigeria or Anambra State(Port Authority) needs to invest in Dredging vessels to constantly dredge River Niger from time to time. This would be efficient and economical than the private sector contractors or alongside the private contractors. Secondly, If the federal government is building a one terminal river-port at onitsha, then we expect to see the maximum capacity of a single terminal port with at least eight mobile harbour cranes, large tool gate entry into the port and large container terminal stacking area, as Onitsha is a commercial city. We also expect Two large automated port cranes as illustrated below to support Six of the the much smaller ones sited at onitsha river port. Transport minister, Senator Idris Umar disclosed: "I discovered that the stacking area was inadequate for a port of that magnitude. So, we had to increase the stacking area to increase the capacity of the port in that regard. We also discovered that it had no gate and no power generator. So, we had to extend the time to ensure that these things were provided."

In addition to the aforesaid factors considered inappropriate, we also do not expect to have just two mobile harbour cranes at any kind of port. The Child soldier is much more deserving of the hero award, if he still lives. Though, i am against Child soldiers in time of war or peace. |
Juju ministry. May God save us all from this doomsday prophesy. |
author=Odu-toda-iwaThis is very funny. Why? OBJ and YARADUA did far more than just deploy troops to peoples cities, tome and villages. They actual murdered people in mass in their own area code. OBJ is not significant and so i won't waste my precious time, as he can do whatever he likes and face the consequence. GEJ Presidency and accomplishment against the odd with boko haram will be clear in a year or two. Then Nigerians will have the choice to either choose progress or regression. |
The North are not the only ones in Nigeria because their is a South. GEJ is constitutionally allowed a second term. If the situation was reverse, a northerner would also be granted a second term without any threats of calamity from the South. Nigeria no Nigeria the world goes on. Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa goes on with some benefiting more than others. |
keep decieving yourself. Obasanjo is still a force to recon with. And who's going to try him? He's not perfect but he's one of the top 3 presidents nigeria ever had. Do you know how much he left in excess crude oil account? Where's the money now? There's more corruption in the system now than in obasanjo's tenure.
Obj is about to make the greatest mistake of his political life and all you have to contribute is sentiments. O well can't say i am surprised. OBJ has played clever politics no one disputes dat, but to ally with his core enemies(he undid) against the south in the present political climate is suicide. That is all am saying. |
OBJ like Gaddafi will finish the remainder of his life in prison if lucky becos his political significance has been over well before 2007. New kids on the block will deal traitorously with him or IBB, if they dare to resurface 2015. At the end of the day, Nigeria goes on. A word is enough for the wise. ![]() |
yes, he has my vote, support and campaign. just a word from GEJ is all it will take. |
It is not just a Nigeria thing but a black thing. Why? This has to be the question of the century. ![]() |
lollz!Just a year of the oil region stay in power and they are not gaining anything. Hausa-fulani has a great debt to pay the oil rich south before they can leave. Ojukwu told dem but no becos they were gaing everything including peoples life. Pay us back and get lost. ![]() |
GboyegaD: I wonder when people would become more truthful to themselves. Like some posters have said which I support, her candidacy cannot sail through considering the state of her country. How do you expect someone who served in her country as a minister and cannot help reduce the poverty faced by her people to improve world condition? Do we think the world politics thrive on ethnic sentimental like oursSo in your high opinion, America has solved all its problem and eradicated poverty on its soil. Wake up and don't go back to sleep. The world is a place of bigotry and the white man magnified that through colonialism and slavery like never before. In ur high opinion, it is a coincident that all world bank President happen to be Americans or was the newly appointed health expert more qualified than Harvard economist, former world bank vice president and managing director Ngozi? |
What was the problem? A black American President and Black Female President of the world bank, too much progress for the fascist state of America. America should try and practice wat they preach. |
America is the global word for bigotry. Talk about meritocracy but wat does America have to offer, cronyism. |

African viewpoint: Banking on change? COMMENTS (43) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala could make history on two counts Continue reading the main story African Viewpoint Goodbye to Bush House Revealing all All hype, no justice? Are birthdays overrated? In our series of viewpoints from African journalists, writer Sola Odunfa considers whether the US has the stomach for change on the global financial front. In the next few weeks a new president will be announced for World Bank in Washington DC. Ordinarily this should not be something that excites anybody outside the inner recesses of governments. But this time it does - because it offers an opportunity for historic changes. Firstly, it gives the possibility of having the first non-American as president in the history of the institution. Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote We are not asking the US not to compete, we are just asking for a level playing field where candidates can be evaluated on their merits” Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala And that possibility is strong, considering that the most outstanding candidate, technically, for the position is an African. Secondly, that candidate is a woman - Nigeria's Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former vice-president of the bank. She is jointly nominated by Angola, South Africa and Nigeria and sponsored by the African Union (AU). The two other candidates are Jose Antonio Ocampo, Colombia's former finance minister and university professor - nominated by Brazil; and Jim Yong Kim, a doctor and leading UN health official - nominated by US President Barack Obama. The presidency of World Bank has been exclusive to the United States since it was founded in 1944 - and has never been held by a woman. Although the office is filled by election, the process is weighted in favour of the major economic powers, just as free, fair and democratic elections in many African countries are programmed to favour particular parties or ethnic groups. Swallowing the medicine Uncle Sam, being the largest contributor to the bank's funds, has about 16% of all votes in its hat. Added to those of its traditional European allies, the votes give its candidate an unassailable advantage. US President Barack Obama favours Jim Yong Kim (C) for the World Bank position Whenever the coast is stormy US officials dip into their diplomatic hat and wave a warning to everyone that if the American candidate loses there will be no guarantee that the US Congress will continue to fund the bank. But after having produced the bank's first 11 successive presidents, America is now under increased pressure to support the election of the 12th from a developing nation. This time other countries are hoping that they can persuade the US to subtly allow the selection to be based on merit, arguing it would be in America's own interest to have a better-performing bank - and, in exchange, secure future political support in other areas. Proponents of this idea say such a change has the potential of making the bank more responsive to its founding objectives. Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi says even the acceptance of the candidature of Africa's Ms Okonjo-Iweala is "clear evidence that the bank is prepared to embrace a paradigm change from perceptions that have not been of benefit to the global economy". Continue reading the main story “ Start Quote There is a tradition amongst the Hausa of northern Nigeria that when you offer them a drug for an ailment they ask if you have administered it on yourself” And the lady herself says "we are not asking the US not to compete, we are just asking for a level playing field where candidates can be evaluated on their merits". The two other candidates are not without merit. Dr Kim, a former director in the HIV department at the World Health Organization, delivered life-saving anti-retroviral drugs to three million people in poor countries within three years. Professor Ocampo's stint as Colombia's finance minister was highly regarded. However, neither has Ms Okonjo-Iweala's international economic exposure - and she is the only woman. There is a tradition amongst the Hausa of northern Nigeria that when you offer them a drug for an ailment they ask if you have administered it on yourself. That way they determine your knowledge of their ailment, the drug's potency and its side effects. Of the three candidates, Ms Okonjo-Iweala has been a participant at some level in the formulation of World Bank policies, an executor of those policies in a debtor country and a victim of the side effects. Kobojunkie: See additional Changes to my post.Ok i just used the term light railway becos i don't know wat it is. U do make a good case, but monorail could also serve a metropolis that are commuting along its route keeping the network busy at all times and generating profits for the transport administrator. |
Onlytruth: Bliss, do you know the route of that Eastern railway line you are talking about? It starts at port harcourt and ends in Makurdi with extension proposed to the Abuja rail line. |
Kobojunkie: um . . . the rail project have been ONGOING for a couple of years now. So lets not now pretend these things are brand news ideas come down to us. And still spending MORE THAN HALF A BILLION DOLLARS on light rail when the rail project is still NOWHERE makes little sense, especially considering limited resources the state is working with. The term light railway was applied becos of the aforesaid fact u have stated. I still think a light railway service in a key city like onitsha would be viable. As for the eastern railway line, that is 60% finished with November 2012 deadline, the last time i checked. |
Kobojunkie: Essentially wasting $500 on a monorail project when the same state could greater benefit from plugging those funds into putting in place the foundations of a solid commuter rail system?? Well, the people seem to be on track to getting exactly what they want from this man . . .The rail project u are talking about is presently on going in the south east. The light railway project is the second phase in rail transport development and all states ought to pursue such agenda. The third phase would be underground rail services. |
The southeast states should pair up and commence work on international airport projects with private partnership. There is no reason for such projects not to be set into motion. We want bold steps with vigor. Just start the project. No federal gov can tell a state gov not to build international airport wen the feasibility study proves they are viable. Rather they compete to fund such project as it is a guaranteed source of income for the state. |
^^That federal government is now in our backyard. Major ministerial positions under southeastern belt. All we need is our govs to take bold steps and the center will endorse. Three international airport in the south east is really not too much, small Lagos is aspiring for two. Oguta lake should be a developed destination of choice for Nigerians, Africans and the world. What serious infrastructures are south eastern govs clamoring for in a PPP Venture? I need our govs to wake up a seize the day or step down. |
lollz We graciously await Gen Buhari at the polls, hoping he reciprocates a gracious consensus. ![]() |
^No reason why Rochas can't build terminal one of Owerri International Airport and a mere mall together, is there? I really do not want to believe that southeastern govs are all useless bunch. Oguta produces a lot of oil. It makes sense to translate that wealth into infrastructure that will in the long run support the state government even after the oil age. |
