LiteratureRe: Saddest Books Read? by blissfullynaughty: 5:15pm On Jun 07, 2009
I remember that as a teenager, books by Danielle Steele were mostly tearjerkers.

One of the books that evoked strong emotions in me was Lynda La Plante's "Entwined" about the lives and ordeals 2 women (identical twins) suffered as children in a Nazi concentration camp. I read this book almost 15 years ago and I still remember it vividly. It was a profound book and I will recommend it to everyone.

I am not a La Plante fan and this is [I believe] the only book of hers that I have read. Also, it has been said that this book deviates substantially from her usual writing style and genre. I guess it was something she felt she had to write.

All na galala, once you have a passion for other women, there is no going back. She will just have to be much more careful and learn better ways and places to conduct her future rendezvous Chikena.

the problem seems to be from you

and I have a feeling that you dont satisfy your wife sexually
Only with Naija people! If a woman is homo or bi-sexual, it is because she has not been shagged into submission or because she is filled with the devil. Abeg make una bite the bullet. The woman loves sleeping with women and that is that.

JustGood:
you should have plotted a way of catching her in the act
And pray tell, what will that achieve sir?

JustGood:
tell her to get a single woman so that you can have threesomes cheesy

Seriously, if she has started enjoying sex with another woman, you're not likely to stop her now. Best to either ignore her or divorce her on the grounds of unfaithfulness.
The last time I checked, in Nigeria (and even here in the UK), unfaithfulness (or adultery) as it is [legally] known can only be a ground for divorce if practised with a member of the opposite sex. The only ground that would be available here will be intolerable behaviour which the petitioner cannot be reasonably expected to put up with.
LiteratureRe: Uwem Akpan wins Commonwealth Regional Prize For his short story anthology. by blissfullynaughty: 8:22pm On Mar 15, 2009
@ Ndipe, your title is a little misleading. Mr. Akpan has not won the Commonwealth Prize. He is just the African Regional Winner. The overall judging is yet to be done. Moreover, his book is not a novel but a short story anthology.

I turn my back for one minute. . . just one minute and you guys have cranked the Bradgelina versus Aniston brouhaha up several notches. Anyway, me I honestly do not give a damn about any of them o. But as for Karma saying that Brad left Jen for Ang simply because he wanted to start a family, all I can say is what a load of bollocks. It was lust; pure and simple. Let us not forget that before she hooked up with Brad, Angelina emphatically insisted that she was never going to bear kids of her own as there were already too many kids in the world without parents who needed to be adopted and loved and she was going to acquire all her children through adoption. If I recall correctly, her ex-hubby Billy Bob Thornton was not happy about this and it drove some sort of wedge between them. At what point did Brad take a look at a self-avowed adoption-only-mum and decide that since Jen was not ready to have kids yet, this woman who had sworn never to bear kids was the one who would provide the fastest route to his getting his own kids? Let's call a spade a spade. It was Lust! Lust !! Lust!!! Getting his own kids was an added bonus. Anyhow sha, na them sabi ojare. It wasn't the first time that a man left his wife for another woman and it won't be the last.

Comot dia! Portman's dress was beautiful, I think its the colour of the dress thats even downplaying the true beauty of that dress.

That your yeye Amy Adam's dress that looks like something that has just seen the business end of a woman's period. tongue
Abeg jo. Which useless colour? Place Rachel Woods dress side by side with Natalie and tell me that Natalie's dress is better. All you pink aficionados, make I hear word ojare. embarassed I did say that Amy Adam's dress was an acquired taste (it has to grow on you. LOL)

KarmaMod:
Dont mind bliss. Marisa Tomei ko. Melissa Torment ni. Susan Saradon is 20 yrs older than her and looks better. Like I said, it wasnt JUST the dress for Natalie, it was the whole thing. Her hair, the makeup, shoes, everything. Gorgeous. Evan Rachel looked good, not better but I'd place her 2nd. Not a fan of Venessa Hudgson but her dress was very nice too.

Amy looked like a used tampon grin

Worst are definitely Tilda and Jessica Biel.
Haba! Haba!! Make una take am easy o. I did not comment on the beauty of either Marisa or Natalie, just their dresses and this one na arun oju o cos Natalie's dress o kin se egbe Marisa's dress. . . at all, at all. That Marisa's dress na gba kan shubu o. LOL. Anyway, I guess everyone has their different tastes. undecided

So because she doesnt take stupid roles/star in shitty movies, that means she's dying for an Oscar? huh

Is Wanted an "Oscar bait" movie? huh

Girl Interrrupted is NOT the kind of movies usually noticed by Oscar voters yet she won hers for it

abeg leave the woman alone jare. at least she's a respectable actress unlike Aniston which is why she's alone
Oh no you didn't. shocked Una tiff person husband finish come dey complain say she day alone. Na wah for una o. Eyin aiye e le o. Though I am fed up of seeing Jen. She should go into hibernation for three years and come back in time for the olympics. We are tired of seeing her looking morose.

why would angelina be mad about Kate's Oscar when she got hers years before Kate?
Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress are not on the same level at all. It's like comparing best single or song to best album. Moreover, winning an Oscar in the past does not diminish the desire to win another nor does it reduce the disappointment when one loses (you need to check out Bette Davis's bitterness when she was deprived of her third Oscar by the machinations of Joan Crawford).

Tilda looked like trash as usual

Best everything is definitely Natalie Portman. Not just the dress, her makeup, her hair, the whole look was awesome.

Kate has dressed well for all the awards this year too
Abeg her dress was not the best. Not even best 3 (or in my personal opinion not even top 5). It is the Pink colour that made it stand out (Take away the colour and I am sure the critics would have barred their fangs at Natalie's dress). Did anyone else notice that there was a sort of similarity between the dresses of Natalie Portman and Evan Rachel Wood? Only that Ms Wood's dress was white. If the truth be told, I think her dress is way better than Natalies too. It has a nice exquisite cut. Marisa Tomei's dress was so much better. The intricacies of the dress, its cut etc was something else.
