Didn't watch the Oscars, but I must say that from the photos, I quite like Amy Adams's dress, but from some angles it looked a lil weird. . . kinda like an acquired taste dress. Really liked Vanessa Hudgens's black and white number and Kate Winslet'd dress was nice if a little boring. Really digging Marisa Tomei's dress which was the loveliest though it is grey. Halle Berry looked quite voluptuous and ravishing, and Reese Witherspoon looked chubbyish. On the whole though, contrary to Spiked's opinion, I feel that it was not as flash as the Oscars usually are. The accessories did not blow one away especially in the jewellry department. |
stillwater:Maybe because just about all the films that that film industry produces is absolutely crap. By the way, how many films from the second largest industry have you seen nominated? And their films are much better than the Naija ones (not that I watch them either). kadman:I was a bit apprehensive thinking that our beloved Katie might be robbed of the honour at the last moment because of het Golden Globe faux pas, but YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, she got the gong at last. If Angelina take mistake talk nonsense ehn, na Sango go soda that im lips for am. Haba someone don lose 5 times, una wan make am six. Eyin aiye e le jo. About Heath Ledger, I have always said that he was going to get the award just because he killed himself. It seems that that is one way to get a gong especially if you had been denied it in the past when you deserved it (okay, I know that is not true, but it might be worth a shot if you are desperate). I was going to suggest that Kate popped her clogs if she lost again this year, but thank goodness, such drastic actions are not necessary. I do however wonder why her nomination came for The Reader instead of Revolutionary Road which was a much better performance. I just feel that they had decided to give the Oscar to her come what may (and I do think she merited it anyhow). As for Slumdog, eight awards. . . now that is quite impressive. And to think that the film was going to go straight to DVD because the big cinemas did not want to show it in the USA. That just teaches us that we should never give up on our dreams. HURRAH FOR THE BRITS!!! ![]() |
Caper143:How long has your relationship been going on for again? You know what, don't bother answering that question. You are still in the honeymoon stage. When he gets what he wants out of you or when you have been together long enough to do those stinky farts in front of each other without being embarrassed, you can come and preach the gospel of the great romantic Nigerian male. Obviously, there are some romantic Nigerian blokes out there and yours could very well be one of them, but predominantly, chivalry is not a word that springs to mind when one thinks of Nigerian men. |
Sisi Jinx:Yes o. That time when my priviledges were summarily withdrawn, I politely pointed out that the offending photograph had not shown any privates and asked that my ID be restored, saying I won't post any Indecency pic on Nairaland. When i didn't get a response after 24 hours, I assumed that my request was being ignored and created another ID, but when I was going through my junk mail last week, I saw that the CEO had actually agreed to lift the ban a few days after my request. So I guess I live to die another day.mellow:Boya lo da mo. ![]() |
Abeg jo. Vivica Fox is hands down the best looking (or was when she was their age mates. That woman was smooooooooking hot, and still is when compared with those others). Next will be Beyonce, then Ciara (whom for goodness-knows-what reason I cannot stand) and bringing up the rear is Ashanti. People do not appreciate the amount of make-up that goes onto these girls. Jeeez. |
She aint bad, but I do not consider her hot! hot!! hot!!! Too much make up and she just overdoes it. Plus, she has a TERRIBLE dress sense too often to be overlooked. |
maedan:And Mariah has a much better voice too. GBAM (Who cares about being in your face? Na that one we wan chop? ).demystify:I know you are not saying that she has the best voice, but I just want to nail even the ghost of any idea that she does because she most definitely doesn't when compared to even today's singers, talk much less of a lifetime of singers. |
tpia:I wonder when all this your bad belle will stop. ![]() |
Walahi, if Ziggy Mama had not posted the second photo, I would have been wondering what all the gushing was about o. She looks good in that second photo, though I must say I have seen better photos of Miss Nnaji. And I cannot believe that a magazine would put a close-up of this second photo in their mag or on their websitw with all the shiny beads of sweat about to erupt on her face. Anyway, Genevieve has always been a very goodlooking lass. |
~Sauron~:Oga, so you be one of them. O ga o(Afefe ti fe. A ti ri furo adie). ![]() |

@ Topic, Because they are assholes. |
I will slap her if she slapped my mother (or insulted her grossly). And that I believe might well be the end of the relationship. |
earTHMama:Sincere about what? Is it about the fact that you have a limited perspective or what? How many races and nationalities have you observed to make such a general sweeping statement? You want sincerity? How about this for sincerity - Maybe those women who act like you specified feel the need to lord it over their husbands after extended periods of oppression. Maybe if the man (who was earning less or who was not paying his way) kept house, swept and washed clothes and dishes, ironed, looked after the children and helped them with their homework, looked pretty, made sure that there was hot food on the table, bit his tongue when the woman rolled in at odd hours of the night, woke up in the night to feed the baby irrespective of whether or not he was tired or whether or not he had a job to go to in the morning, turned a blind eye (or was willing to forgive easily) acts of infidelity, grinned and bore it while their wife brought home a younger man as a 2nd husband, put up with it when their wife had a child (or children) by another man, bore it while their wife beat the shit out of them (as millions of women do. Not that I am advocating or condoning violence in any way, but that is the horror millions of women have to deal with from their abusive husbands all over the world) . . . maybe, just maybe if the men did or put up with all these, the women you complained about would be more humble and reasonable about being the sole or main breadwinner in the family. When men readily carry out all the household chores as well as hold down jobs without complaining, like many women do, you'll find that what you complain about will become rarer (not that your complaint applies unequivocally or universally anyway). Regarding the issue of female managers or bosses, any woman would tell you that it is harder for a woman to work her way to the top. You will always have people who will try to undermine her, patronise her, make her job difficult. A great many successful women find that in other to break the glass ceiling, they had to become hard nosed bitches to be taken seriously and survive in a male dominated role. Often, male workers resent a female boss. The sad thing is so do other female workers and they all resent being "bossed about" by a woman. And yes, female bosses tend to be harder and more difficult than their male counterparts, but often, they are this way because they feel that they might not be taken seriously if they do not crack the whip. |
earTHMama:Funmi, Do you just post these topics because you like being controversial? ![]() Maybe you should qualify your statement, cos the last time I checked many many women in the west are bosses and/or breadwinners without complaining and they manage their teams excellently. Moreover in the performing arts, many women are the main bread winner or make more than their spouses and do not act like you have stated. Isn't this a case of giving a dog a bad name and hanging it? |
Growing up in the 1980s and 1990s, there was some songs that were just the business back then. Anytime I hear some of these songs nowadays, they bring back some great memories. Feel Free to Share Songs From Yesteryears Which Have Some Meaning For You. You Can Also Share Why The Songs Are Special. And Post Links To Their Videos If You Have Them Too. I'll Go First. From the 1980s, I Loved "Trapped" by Colonel Abrams. Parties in 1996/97 were not complete without this song. ![]() [flash=425,344]http://uk.youtube.com/v/uB1D9wWxd2w&hl=en&fs=1[/flash] SHARE YOURS! ![]() |
This line is from one of my favourite films and boy were there lots of lines I could have used (Brilliant Movie) - "When the shit hits the fan, some guys run and some guys stay." |
By the way, why isn't this useful thread on the Front/Main Page of Nairaland? ![]() |
@ Naijacutie, Shebi you moderators can see the IP Address of everyone. Block all the IP addresses of the scammers (and keep doing so as often as necessary). |
Sisi Jinx:Is this for me? If it is, you have lost me for sure. . . LOL. And why don't you just put up a clear photo? Afterall, you have refused to do anything controversial on Nairaland which may come back to bite you in the butt. ![]() Sisi Jinx:Ans = About a Boy na2day?:Ans = Transformers @ Topic, "If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?" |
