2023 Presidency: Cleric Urges Tinubu To Engage DG CNNI, Prof. Zakari Jiya For A Robust Political Masterplan

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the Senior Pastor Yoke Breakers Prophetic Ministry Abuja, Bishop Ugokwe Ugo Prince has called on the national leader of All Progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to engage the services of of the Director General of Council for New Nigeria Initiative, CNNI Prof. Zakari Aliyu Jiya for a more robust outreach and engaging political campaign, saying the professor of Pharmacy has what it takes to sell the manifesto of the former Lagos State Governor to Nigerians.

According to Bishop Ugokwe Ugo Prince, the president/founder of Muslims and Christians Love Foundation, Prof. Jiya is a renowned political strategist who has a track record of proven integrity to deliver a Tinubu mandate.

In a release on Sunday, 6th February 2022. the cleric noted that the Director General CNNI a Kogi born political master planner has friends across the country country who make up his political structure in all states of the federation.

Prof. Jiya he also added is well accepted because of his ability to easily mix with the people, identify with their culture and way of life and speak their language, particularly Nupe,igala ,hausa ,igbo and Yoruba.

Bishop Ugokwe Prince therefore urged the former Lagos State Governor to solidify his campaign base with men who have sell his ideology to the masses, emphasising that Prof. Jiya is an outstanding authority in this regard.

The cleric reiterate that Prof. Jiya, a stalwart of APC was instrumental in ensuring the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019 with a strong structure he has nursed and built over the years. with his political mentor Senator ABU IBRAHIM from KATSINA who is the Chairman and the founding father of CNNI worldwide .

He also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to involve Prof. Jiya especially at this challenging moment in the nation's history so that grey areas of governance will be fixed to enable the President finish stronger as his administration comes to end in 2023.

NUJ Elect New Executives As Odogwu Emeka Odogwu Emerges Chairman Of Anambra Chapter

The Anambra state chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ has elected new leadership with a senior editor with Authority Newspaper, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu emerging as the chairman.

The new exco is to pilot the affairs of the chapter in the next three years.

The election which was held at the NUJ Godwin Ezeemo Press Centre, Awka, on Friday, saw Odogwu beating his close rival Sir Abuchi Onwumelu of Fides newspaper with 110 votes to 103 votes.

Also, Mrs Ngozi Obilrri of Anambra state Broadcasting Service ,Awka emerged as the Vice Chairman of council defeating Mrs. Betty Onuchukwu of the Pointer newspaper.

Others officers of the council elected are: Mr Aloy Ofordile as Secretary, Mr Ogemdi Ozoemenam as treasurer, Mrs Ifeayinwa Iloanya as auditor, John Ndu as financial secretary, and Mr Okechukwu Onuegbu as assistant Secretary.

Odogwu’s rival, Mr Abuchi Onwumelu, a senior reporter with FIDES Newspaper polled 103 votes, while the state secretary of the union, Mr Emma Udeagha, who was contesting for the same chairmanship position failed to attract any vote.

Also, Mrs Ngozi Obileri, an editor with Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) emerged as the Vice Chairman of the council, after polling 142 votes to defeat her rival, Mrs Betty Onuchukwu who polled 71 votes.

Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA Abuja chapter has secured a free meeting venue for its literary and other activities at the Wuse area of the nation's capital FCT.

This is even as the chapter commends owners of the facility, Major General Mamman Vatsa Foundation for granting her opportunity to make use of the tastefully furnished structure in an effort to support knowledge acquisition and development.

Late Major General Mamman Vatsa, a former FCT Minister and member of ANA while alive made significant contributions to ensure the growth of the association, including donation of land along Mpape road FCT currently housing the national secretariat of ANA known as Writers' Village.

Executed on March 5, 1986, Major General Mamman Jiya Vatsa was passionate about education and human capital development in his native Lapai local government of Niger state and Nigeria at large.

With the desire of keeping some of the legacies he stood for while alive, his family set up a foundation in his honour which seeks to among other things advance the opportunity for the less privileged children in the society to have access to quality education and improve quality of life generally.

Speaking on Saturday at the location of the expansive edifice located at Zone 2 area of Wuse Abuja, chairman of ANA Abuja, Halima Usman described the late FCT Minister as a great supporter of education, noting that it is on the strength of a new understanding with the foundation that the chapter held her first official meeting in 2022 at the venue.

She said the dreams of the foundation of promoting education and humanity is in line with what ANA Abuja and the association generally stands for.

Prior to this moment, the FCT chapter of ANA holds its various literary engagements at rented venues with huge cost implications.

The chairman says the chapter is poised to do more with the resources that will be saved from payment of meeting venues and other logistics.

"The family has invested a lot to put up the structure you are seeing here. The intention is to continue to promote education, continue to support writers, continue to support less privileged children to make our society much better.

"That is why they have built this foundation and graciously said that the vision of Association of Nigeria Authors and theirs align. They have taken off a lot of burden from us especially in terms of sourcing for meeting venue for our monthly events," she said.

At the meeting which centered on reading and critiquing, members were unanimous that writers should invest more time and resources in research and innovation to churn out quality books.

While also decrying the activities of pirates, the authors want publishers to deploy more creativity in improving the aesthetics of intellectual materials.

In her remarks, the Director, Research and Documentation, National Council for Arts and Culture, Dr. Lizi Ben-Iheanacho emphasized the need for adequate marketing strategy to give writers reward for their works.

ANA Abuja had last year rounded off activities with a posthumous 81st birthday in honour of the late Niger born military officer, Vatsa where the family pledged to ensure the sustenance of his visions.

They had earlier donated a state-of-the-art ICT hub located at Government Day Secondary, Gulu Lapai local government area of the state.

As part of its contribution to reduce incidences of drug and substance abuse in the country, a non-governmental organisation, Emmanuel & Rachel Foundation has taken the anti-drug campaign to secondary schools in Lagos and Ogun states, South West Nigeria.

The 3-day advocacy campaign seeks to bring awareness to the doorstep of the younger ones in the society to realise the dangers associated with drug and substance abuse.

The pupils were also taught tips to healthy lifestyle.

The benefitting pupils who could not hide their joy expressed gratitude to the foundation for the sensitization which they say has broadened their minds on the risks associated with drug abuse.

In acceptance of the message, they carried various placards such as 'Drug ends all dreams', 'You don't need heroin to be a hero', 'drug kills', 'it is easier to stay off drugs than to get off drugs' and many more.

Drug abuse has been identified to be an enabler of crimes and insecurity.

Among dangers associated with it is the reduction in productivity, health related issues, and many more.

The country has intensified the campaign against drug with the NDLEA being the lead agency.

Under the leadership of Gen. Buba Marwa, the agency is believed to have made a significant milestone in the fight against drug.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Ben Nwankwo and 79 other prominent Nigerians were on Thursday inaugurated as members of Prof. Charles Soludo Transition Committee.

The committee headed by former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili was inaugurated at Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu in Anambra on Thursday amidst high expectations by the Anambra State Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Soludo.

Hon. Nwankwo who twice served in the House of Representatives representing Orumba North/South Federal Constituency (2003 to 2007 & 2011 to 2015), both under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) made the list of the carefully selected Transition Committee members.

Among other things, they are expected to work out modalities to aid easy transition from the governor Willie Obiano-led exco to the incoming state executive Council to be led by the Governor-elect, Prof. Charles Soludo.

The Transition Committee according to Joe Anatune, Media Assistant to the Anambra State Governor-Elect, Chukwuma C. Soludo will also liaise with a team set up by the government of Anambra State to ensure a seamless transition from the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration to a Chukwuma Charles Soludo-led administration as from 17th March, 2022.

Members were selected based on their achievements in their various fields of endeavour and across political parties and states to set a strong footing for the incoming administration.

Hon. Nwankwo, an Orumba born successful businessman, an administrator, politician and lawmaker is expected to bring to fore his reach managerial experience in the committee which is expected to form about 28 sub-committees.

Hon. Nwankwo worked as a Special Adviser to The Governor of Anambra State from 1999 to 2000. He also worked as a Commissioner in the State, serving in three different ministries; Works & Transport (2001-2002), Housing & Urban Development (2002-2003) and Finance & Budget (2002-2003).

There is no doubt that he is a perfect fit for the quantum of assignment the Transition Committee is expected to carry out.

There are indications that the Committee will go beyond just producing a blueprint for the transition to monitoring progress of the incoming government in its first 100 days in office.

Inaugurating the Committee, the Governor-Elect, Prof. Soludo, expressed gratitude to the people he described as wise men and women for accepting to pay service to the state.

He said, "This committee comprises some of Nigeria’s best, and Anambra is deeply grateful that you are sacrificing your time and talent pro bono, to help our journey to a liveable and prosperous smart city.

"This is a friendly transition, it is an APGA government to APGA government, and we expect nothing except the level of cooperation expected among members of a family. And that we are having this at this transition committee jointly, being inaugurated, speaks eloquently. It is almost like a combined transition committee and it is a testimony that this is a family affair.

"Some commentators have observed that the number of the transition committee is large in their estimation, even without seeing the terms of reference, or the task, or that the members are offering their time and talent without remuneration as it were.

"Some were already computing the amount of money that each of you would be paid. If Anambra accepts to pay or remunerate the calibre of people here, I’m sure even a world bank facility would not help us. Despite those observations, I must advise that you should feel absolutely free to bring anyone else that you feel can bring great value to this work" he said.

Multi-talented comedian, Onwunarugwu Ndubuisi Joseph, known by the stage name Shortcut is now a proud father as he and his dear wife have just welcomed their first baby. Both mother and baby are in perfect condition.

Shortcut, one of Abuja comedians has in the past 14 years thrilled fun seekers to festival of laughter with his funny jokes.

His experience cuts across on-stage and backstage in the entertainment industry.

He stands tall among contemporaries with his analytical skills and humorous way of doing so, captivating audience with his talent.

Shortcut among other engagements is one of the hosts of Capital Club, a comedy and music platform to entertain fun seekers and discover new talents in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He is also the convener of popular Nigeria Comedy Event “ Leave Comedy For Shortcut show". He has performed live in countless events including the Sparkle Rekindle Event, BSTAN Easter Fiesta and Opa Williams Nite of a Thousand Laughs.

He was said to have got his stage name far back as his secondary school days where he always provide a short cut solutions when confronted with challenges.

His innovation and versatility stands him out in the industry.
