Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is There Any Hope For A Third Class Bsc Holder? by Blow(m): 5:34pm On Dec 02, 2009
Yes you can!
Being awarded a 3rd Class is devastating.
There was this joke we use to make.
If you have first class or 2:1, you'll say I made a 1st Class or 2:1.
But if you have third class or pass, it is "They gave me 3rd class or pass.
Such is the stigma attached to 3rd class or lower grades.
Now I know you are asking this question within the Nigeria context.
The way forward has been postulated many nairalanders.
The Postgraduate escape is a good one though I didnt take that.
My advice is you need to be confident in your ability
And consciuosly separate your capability from your academic result.
Also prayer is very important in this matter.
Look for and get a job in your field, prove yourself.
You will definitely get over the 3rd class hurdle.
Travel / Re: Why Do People Back Home Think Money Grows On Trees Abroad? by Blow(m): 4:30pm On Dec 02, 2009
I think the nigeria bashers might have a point.
Life really looks frustrating even for people that are comfortable in nigeria.
As I'm hitting this keyboard a lot of nigerians are suffering.
We cant fuel our vehicles because petrol is scarce in Nigeria! You need to see long queues at fuel stations in town. But in all these problems we smile. Why! we have learnt to survive.
That is the driving force for many of us in Nigeria. It took some of us quite some time to get a good job, but we did get a job and life continues. We looked out for our folks, brothers, cousins though it wasnt convenient. But they appreciate us. In a nutshell we believe that things will get better while we suffer and smile for now.

@Poster,  Maybe people abroad just have that misconception that people back home thinks money grows on tree abroad.
Travel / Re: Nigerians! How Far Will We Go! Man Marries Daughter So She Can Get A Visa! by Blow(m): 3:30pm On Dec 02, 2009
Desperation will make you do anything.
But lets not make this nigeria problem it happens all over.
Then it's just that the rate at which it happens (among nigerians) is quite high.
We need to stop the craze for foreign countries.
Career / Re: How Do I Meet My 200 Million Naira Target By December? by Blow(m): 3:01pm On Dec 02, 2009
Meet 200 Million naira?
I suppose you've been in the system for awhile,
so my advice is you need to strategize well.
Look around you, family members, friends, place of worship, contacts etc.

Now If I were you I won't even take the job in the first place.
Begging people in the name of meeting target is not my style.
And if I found myself in your position it wont take long before I resign
because I would know that the job is exposing me to too much danger.
Cheers.
Webmasters / Re: Punch Newspaper Website Free Again? by Blow(m): 2:45pm On Dec 02, 2009
They might have learnt a bitter lesson.
They punched themselves in the face by their earlier action.
Sometimes Management fails in managing perceived success.
Travel / Re: How Expensive Is Nigeria At Present? by Blow(m): 2:39pm On Dec 02, 2009
OK, Considering your budget and spendings so far, I think you are well prepared for your homecoming.
200K is quite enough for your spendings in 9 days even in a costly city like Abuja.
You can get reasonably good hotels for Eight (8K) per night on the average.
Visit nice places and hang out with friends at the new Silverbird, Ceddis, lounges in town.
These places are not so costly.
Eat out at the eateries, Southern Fried Chicken, Mr. BIGS, Tantalizers. There are a whole lot of unknown names. Quite affordable and good food.
You can also patronise some of the Abuja gardens in the evenings. They sell food, pepper soup, smoked fish etc.
You'll enjoy self really well in naija. Expenses depends on what you want.

Lol. Abeg free the hostess. Sometimes some situation catch you unaware even though you are prepared for them. The whole story leaves a bad taste. Aircrafts flying blindly! Imagine that. I dont want to believe many Nigerians will be flying blindly this December. Our help is in the name of the Lord.
Career / Re: Wema Banks Sack 500 Workers by Blow(m): 3:35pm On Sep 08, 2009
This is very bad,

Although We know the economic recession just kicked off last year in some advanced countries.
The government of these countries are making efforts to cushion the effects,
These countries are better off before the recession period,

But Nigeria has been in economic recession since the 90's,
So trying to worsen the situation bcoz of the so called global problem is not acceptable,
The employment rate in Nigeria has not been good since I can remember,
Why should we allow it to get worse.
This whole financial problem in the country is some kind of set up to further impoverished the already poor and average nigerians.

I thought the government said they had pump in some bailout fund to the financial industry,
Why these alarming loss of jobs, ? There is more to it than met the eyes,
I rest.
Sports / Re: It's The Fault Of The Fans We Lost: Joseph Yobo by Blow(m): 3:06pm On Sep 08, 2009
It was on TV(AIT) last nite. At the after match press conference Yobot actually said they loss becoz they were playing to the gallery(Fans of course).
Imagine that. Which gallery? most of the players except a few were just running and roaming about the pitch without any impact.
TV/Movies / Re: Voltron Defender Of The Universe by Blow(m): 6:39pm On Jan 25, 2008
My brother and I could give anything to watch
Voltron back in the days.
And we used to draw the lions and voltron.

Voltron represent the forces of good fighting
the evil forces,

I love Keith the rider of the Black Lion most
and also the kid,

Politics / Re: Can Someone Explain The 53 Suitcases Scandal To Me? by Blow(m): 4:29pm On Sep 26, 2007
Objectively,

Who is the author of the wikipedia article.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atiku_Abubakar

Which source could be more authoritative on nigeria events: wole soyinka or wikipedia faceless author.

Now
There are two sides to this 35 or 53 suitcases scandal.

Another angle to it was that Atiku was aiming to be Director of Customs, while Abubakar Musa was Director of Customs. If he was painted in bad light, if Atiku presented himself as the champion of the discovery,,

Then, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the present Vice President was Area Administrator at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport. He was the one who came on air to say it was an Emir from the North who brought not 35, but 53 suit cases.
From the above (Maj. Mustafa Jokolo account)
Atiku Abubakar is obviously on the side of justice, perhaps his motive may not be justifiable.
This coroborate Wole Soyinka's account that Atiku was actually on the side of justice.

I can see that some suitcases - exact numbers in question - were smuggled into the country.

And the Emir of Gwandu and some other government topshots were at the scene.

But let truth be told in this particular case Atiku was on the right course. we learnt he stood his ground against the entrance of the suitcases until orders came from above and he has to bow out of the way.

That wikipedia article was written to discredit Atiku. I don't know the reason for this anyway.
Atiku might not be good news all the time, he sure has some positive parts.

Nigeria is sure an interesting country.

Naija gofment misfire again!
which student will use the science package,
an average naija secondary student no sabi use computer.
On which computer or dem think dey can run computer softwares on blackboard or thin air

Let the government be serious about providing IT facilities first.
IT teachers, Computers, should come and then all other things will fall in place
straight man.

Computers should be made available to all (parents and students) anyhow

I think United needs to pray for luck too,
Bcoz thats the only thing Chelsea has gotten now

Beside that United is far ahead of Chelsea in
pattern of play and skill display on the field of play
