Whether there was a massacre at Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.
The atrocious maiming and killing of unarmed, helpless and unresisting protesters, while sitting on the floor and waving their Nigerian flags, while singing the national anthem can be equated to a 'massacre' in context.
"A massacre has been defined as the killing of multiple individuals, which is considered to be morally unacceptable, especially when perpetrated by political actors against defenceless victims" - Wikipedia
The panel considered whether what took place at the Lekki Tollgate on the 20th October, 2020 was a MASSACRE. According to the learned authors of Miriam-Webster online dictionary, one of the meanings of massacre is "the act or instance of killing a number of usually helpless or unresisting human beings under circumstances of atrocity or cruelty. Bump: Seems it took them over a year to see what everyone else saw. I wonder what new evidence they saw that wasn't known to them a year ago. |
Politics › Re: What Happens when Niger Republic Finishes building Kandadji Dam on Niger river? by Blue3k(op): 9:19pm On Nov 14, 2021 |
Bleiz: 6 years is okay. It takes between 5 to 10 years to slowly fill up a dam to prevent shortage of water downstream. It can even be filled faster during the raining seasons we have here in Nigeria.
Remember that many tributaries of River Niger in Nigeria overflow their banks while causing flooding in adjoining plains, so faster filling of any upstream dam will be done during our rainy seasons within those proposed 6 years. First contrarian opinion on the topic. I guess we'll see if Niger's EIA report was correct about its effects being minimal to Nigeria . If there's little threat of anything going wrong who knows why Nigeria agreed to those treaties. Who knows if Benin Republic from doing one next who wants to be dependent if they are successful. The loss, through evaporation and modification of the Niger River water flows, in Nigeria will be low -2.8% at Yidere-Bode, 2.3% at Jebba and 0.6% at Lokoja. |

Bleiz: The Niger dam can be filled up slowly.
With filling it up slowly, downstream won't experience any adverse effects. The timeline has been presented. Is 6 years slow enough for Nigeria to experience no adverse effects? |

Biafrarep: Bottom line, the threat is limited to NW and NC. This will effect the hrdropower plants. All four of them are in the NW. I guess the Niger's exports could cover that shortfall but they probably charge market rates. Who knows if they will prioritize Nigerians over their citizens who don't have access to power. |

This mammoth project of 740 billion CFA francs (1.1 billion euros / $1.3 billion) is co-financed by the World Bank, African Development Bank (AfDB), Islamic Development Bank and French Development Agency. "The only solution that can solve the recurring problem of food insecurity in Niger is the Kandadji dam because there will be 45,000 hectares (111,200 acres) of land that will be developed to improve production," says Ousmane Danbadji, head of the Network of journalists for water and sanitation (Rejea) and an expert on the matter.
The dam agency forecasts that 400,000 more tonnes of rice, corn and vegetables will be produced each year in a country where 80 percent of the population lives off traditional agriculture, dependent on rains.
A 130-megawatt power station is due to be built in Kandadji, aiming to generate enough electricity annually to enable Niger to free itself from its energy dependence on neighbouring Nigeria.
Barely 15 percent of more than 20 million Nigeriens have electricity, according to the Nigelec electricity company. This project will be a boom for these people since they can abandon they dependence on Nigeria. How this effects Nigeria's power and water long term isn't their concern. I just find it interesting it's the evil French that partly financed this project. |

Your big idea to raise revenue is to grant state enforced monopolies to certain countries. What should we expect from this policy besides increased prices because of the monopoly pricing. The consumers lose benefit if having wider market. naijapower: Nigeria export electricity constantly to other country whereas electricity supply is a challenge here in Nigeria. Ok hows that strategy has been working out? Most of those nations owe Nigeria. Even that won't last long considering Niger Republic will eventually build Kandadji Dam and won't need Nigerian imports.

The Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, on Tuesday, in Abuja insisted that capital punishment against illegal miners is the potent way of stopping fleecing of nation’s resources in the mining and solid minerals sector. Nigerian politicians are hilariously stupid everything should be a capital crime to them except corruption. Even of they did make it a capital crime nobody will be executed since the governors dont do their jobs. Lol people foolishly defend them without asking why dont they take the next logical step by banning capital punishments, commuting sentences, or some other reforms. |

Believe this clown at your own peril. He was rambling the election couldn't hold a week a ago think ipob was all mighty. Now he's come with a new story after saying the government has to negotiate with them before an election can be conducted. Validated: How will INEC handle logistics with sit-at-home commencing on Nov 5? If INEC is not deluded, by now it would have postponed the elections by one week to November 13 2031. That way, the trial date for Nnamdi Kanu would have passed and stakeholders' negotiation with IPOB deepened, however, if INEC insists on November 6, then they will meet a deserted state like whar Buhari met on the day he visited IMO state, with only Uzodinma and his family alone around the airport to receive him. Even APC chieftains will not dare go out to vote. Validated: You all will come back in shame when INEC post-pones the election.
