Congrats to China they get Ugandas airport and other assets for 200 million dollars. Lol they probably pledge mines and drilling rights to China. No way the big prize is a Ugandan airport.

Caboceer: According to Ganduje, a convicted criminal was once found not guilty and exonerated after the death sentence had already been carried out. Oshiomhole was the one who signed off, according to him
That is why they don't sign anymore.
Its a really stupid excuse that only makes sense to unthinking guys. The altruistic governors refused to end death penalty in their states, commute sentences or make other judicial reforms. If the FG was smart they fine them for clogging up prisons. This is one reason why prisons should be decentralized.
The Kano Governor made a stupid excuse about faulty Judgements.
“At one time he signed the warrant and somebody was executed judiciously. Later on, it was discovered that he was not supposed to have been executed. The judgement was faulty,” Governor Ganduje
He's right about governors impeding these sentences. If you were smart you would demand they be removed from the process.
GreyLaw: No governor will sign it. He will be in an executive branch of some prison and live out his life. Governors don't sign death sentences anymore.
Exactly the governors are Unnecessary bottle neck impeding these sentences. Idiots claim its a good thing because the judicial system is broken but forget governor have power to commute sentences if necessary. Lastly they could submit law change to end capital punishment in their states. The best solution is to simply get the governors out the process if you believe in capital punishment.
Blue3k: The federal government should deduct those cost from the allocations those states since these altruistic governors are intentionally delaying justice and causing prison congestion. The best way to eliminate the bottle neck itself is to get the governors out of the execution process. Trial judges should simply be tasked with carrying out the process since they convicted the person after hearing all the evidence. They legislator will simply need to stipulate a time frame when execution date needs to be settled like 90 days after convictions barring any appeals in between.
A guy took you for vacation outside the country, all expenses paid by him, not even a business trip... Are you not suppose to force the sex on him even when he's down and not in for any knacks?
Someone like me, she will not sleep in that same room with me. "Suffer not the witch to sleep"
Lol only dumb simps blow thousands of dollars on a random chick then cry about it. These girls driving clowns into bankruptcy.
MIKOLOWISKA: Dang That's a lot of judges in Yankee fa
This one reason I believe cases proceed much quicker. The kyle rittenhouse trial only took a year. He was granted bail and was able to live his life. There was no funny business with adjournments even though the prosecution was inept for even bringing the case to court.
vanunu: The killing of Shi'ites and the destruction of their mosque is a good example, another one is the destruction of Jewish synagogues in the eastern part of Nigeria by Buhari. and the indiscriminate arrest of they members.
Most of the discrimination if any is usually directed at small groups instead larger ones like mainstream Christians. There's too much media attention generated by CAN. I never heard about the Synagogue incident. I just find it interesting Iran doesn't say much of anything to Nigeria regarding the shiites.
PDJT: -Never said that. You’re just unknowingly displaying your insecurities- Freudian slip.
-Keep your faith in your “One Nigeria”. I bet, you have seen an army win a battle with enemies within the rank?
I didn't claim you said that. I asked you a question about reasonable alternatives? You seem insecure over simple questions IPOB. Bala's case will probably make it to the Supreme Court so we can expect a landmake case on this issue for better or worse. Anyway do you have examples of state sanctioned religious intolerance?
PDJT: -If you think Nigeria will ever get better with respect to Religious Freedom or human rights in general, then, I doubt your critical thinking ability.
-You better get used to it, as Nigerian commonwealth has been used to empower one of the most backward tribes in Africa to rule and subdue others for the benefit of the Imperialist Nations. Well, let’s leave it at that...
Lol I need put my faith in the foolish biafran commando that got captured twice instead? Yeah the state empowers religious zealots thats why I hope atheist win at the Supreme Court. I do think they have a shot.
yanabasee2: We'll never get passed this stage... because these people are the ones controlling this country and they'll ensure that their religion is put first before a man's life...
I agree the Islamic zealots are the worst when it comes to state sanctioned religious bigotry. I believe their still hope regarding the Supreme Court. Blasphemy laws are unconstitutional but nobody challenges these laws..
I noticed nobody giving examples them not being allowed to practice their beliefs. Anyway the only examples I have is akwa ibom building their church. Fact is people just like using the state to waste cash on the religious pet projects.
Nyanabo: Sir, won't dismissing those case defeat the aim of the judiciary? Then the victims won't have access to justice simply because of the shorting comings of the court/police.
I would profer training and retraining our officers for global best practice for investigating a case with many block ends. (Though not all can still be solved)
Regarding the welfare of judges in my state, I wouldn't know. But what I meant by 'taking care of' does only mean the financial aspect. It means allowing them do the job without oppression/intimidation/or interference. I believe our judiciary are simply no well separated from the Executives.
Cheers.
I agree with your answer regarding training police but don't believe its mutually exclusive regarding dismissing the bad cases. The accused will be found innocent anyway if there no evidence and every person is innocent until proven guilty. The court has to be fair to accused and the accuser. Police incompetence can't be used as an excuse.
Nigeria a country filled with religious zealots its no surprise there's a lot of discrimination. Look at Mubarak Bala not being charged to court after year in dentin because he doesn't care for someone's story book.
Section 10 of the Nigerian Constitution stipulates that the Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any religion as a State Religion. In addition, Section 39 (1) provides that every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including the freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference.
Despite this assurance, Mubarak Bala, the President of the Humanist Association of Nigeria was arrested on April 28, 2020, for making a Facebook post that was critical of Prophet Muhammed. Because of the pressure from Islamic zealots, he was denied basic human rights such as the right to counsel, and fair treatment in accordance with the principles of rule of law.
After more than 17 months in detention, Bala has not been brought before a court and his lawyers were not informed of the charges against him for more than 14 months. The constitution of Nigeria, however, dictates, detained suspects must be charged and brought before a court within 7 days. In December 2020, the Abuja High court ordered the authorities to free Bala “immediately and unconditionally”. The court order was disobeyed. Bala is still unlawfully being held in prison.
Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, a 22-year-old singer, recorded a song and circulated it on WhatsApp. The song was deemed derogatory towards the prophet Muhammad by a Muslim mob. His home was attacked. Instead of protection, police arrested him on blasphemy charges and later a court sentenced him to death by hanging. Atheist Alliance International has secured a team of very experienced lawyers in Nigeria and lodged an appeal on behalf of Mr. Sharif-Aminu. His conviction and death sentence were quashed but the State seek to re-try him in a Shariah court. This legal battle is currently ongoing.
Compared to Mubarak and Sharif-Aminu, Omar Farouq was lucky. He had a narrow escape from 10 years in prison. He was 15 when he was charged with blasphemy and sentenced by a court. Atheist Alliance International, along with its partners in the region, appealed the case and the initial verdict was annulled.
Nyanabo: My guess on why we have numerous adjournment in Nigeria judicial system is because proper investigations are not been carried out to expedite the judicial system. The police and sss still use stone age formats to investigate cases and to get truths from suspects. It's not about the number of judges in the system (to that can play a key role in the latter stages)
When the current ones are not properly taken care of should we then employ more ? No way.
Those sort of cases should simply be dismissed then problem solved. The police don't need to waste the courts time. Are the judges not being taken care of in your state? How much does a judge need to be properly compensated?
nienam: just two, always busy judge , that shows up only twice a week
Sounds like some lazy people. They should be fired and sent to a retirement home.
Mayour11: Even when we have enough money for judges, the police also need money for money to carry out investigation.
You're putting the cart before the horse there. Investigations are supposed to come before charges if you plan on winning. Other wise its just a time wasting strategy.
Reflect7: Right. So, so far Davido has raised approximately 74 million US dollars (so far) from Nigerians, after he tweeted that he needed money to clear his Rolls Royce from Apapa Port, Lagos.
Just yesterday he raised over 5 million dollars.
Lol the OP must be retarded or a liar. He hasn't raised up to a million dollars. Next how do these charitable donations disprove the economy is in bad shape? Lastly do you know who donated to Davido? You act like he revealed those details.
backbencher: With the number of 'awaiting trial' prisoners in the system.,...no , Nigeria does not have enough judges.
Yeah, the awaiting trail issue will require other little reforms. I mainly attribute that to the ridiculous bail conditions set by judges and facts there isn't a set bail schedule. Other than that time served for guilty verdicts would help.
Kinematics: Well I don't think the reason for case adjournment is entirely due to lack of judges rather I think its due to our poor judicial system.
Lol this is what happens when u you centralize power at the top. If individuals were allowed to defend themselves properly most of you would realize how useless they are. This is why Decentralized policing is important. Put these lazy idiots out of job. They don't have to exist.
Christistruth00: Let him first pleaded guilty in Court and show remorse
What happened last time he got released ?
Then FG will begin from there
Why bother with the song and dance? If he's guilty of murders, mayhem and everything else you guys claim sorry shouldn't be enough. You guys will wonder why criminality is out control.
xborr: Was Niger Delta militants convicted before the government granted them amnesty?
Such is the paradox of Nigeria system.
Didn't the ND militants have to surrender before they were granted amnesty? I see your point though. Nigeria coddles criminals that's why the society lawless.
How do you pardon someone who hasn't been found guilty of anything? You guys are putting the cart before the horse. The state can drop the charges admitting they're wrong and had no case.
SUB: The Katsina state government has said bandits have devised new strategies to circumvent telecom ban by acquiring walkie-talkies....
The Katsina state government has said bandits have devised new strategies aimed at circumventing the impact of the Security Challenges Containment Order, by acquiring walkie-talkies.
The Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, made the disclosure Thursday at a press briefing organised to give an update on the Executive Order imposed to address problems of insecurity.
"A recent and most worrisome move by the criminals is the observed acquisition of Radio Frequency Walkie-Talkie Transceivers by the bandits, which they have started using. Security Agencies are however on their trail with a view to bringing the malpractice to an end," he said.
While giving more insights, the state Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, said the walkie takies were short range communication gadgets that the criminals usually acquire through online shopping platforms such as Jumia.
He said the police and other security agencies are working assiduously to ensure that such supplies are prevented from getting into the bandits and other criminals.
The SGS said monitoring of banditry related activities in the State has revealed that, the months of September and October, 2021 witnessed a decline in activities of bandits as it relates to kidnapping, cattle rustling and other forms of criminality, when compared to previous months.
"The State Government appreciates the support and understanding being given by the general public and other well-meaning individuals and groups; and we seek for more."
"The Containment Order is a child of necessity, and has not been put in place to hurt or cause hardship to the citizens of the State. The driving objective was to arrest the emerging situation that was becoming a threat to peace, order and our collective well-being," he said.
The state Assembly members called on the executive arm to review the order, particularly the aspect of GSM network shutdown, which they said was counterproductive.
