Religion / Why I Dislike Religion But Embrace Jesus: A Controversial Perspective. by bluebutton: 9:54pm On Jun 05, 2023
Religion and spirituality have long been topics of debate, with proponents and detractors passionately arguing their cases. In this blog, I will express my unconventional viewpoint on the subject matter. I must clarify from the outset that my intentions are not to offend or disrespect anyone's beliefs, but rather to share my personal thoughts and experiences. It is important to approach this discussion with an open mind and engage in a respectful dialogue.

Religion, in its various forms, often tends to create rigid structures, dogmas, and rituals that can inadvertently stifle genuine spiritual growth. The human tendency to codify and institutionalize beliefs can sometimes lead to a focus on outward appearances and adherence to rules, rather than fostering a deep connection with one's inner self and a higher power.

Many organized religions also have a history of intolerance, divisiveness, and even violence. Throughout time, religious institutions have been responsible for wars, persecution, and discrimination against individuals who deviate from the established norms. These actions contradict the teachings of love, compassion, and acceptance that are at the core of most religions.

Amidst the complexities and shortcomings of religious systems, the figure of Jesus stands out as a beacon of hope and compassion. Jesus' life and teachings, as recorded in the New Testament, embody love, forgiveness, and a profound understanding of human suffering. He challenged the established religious authorities of his time and emphasized the importance of a personal relationship with God, rather than mere adherence to religious rituals.

Jesus consistently demonstrated unconditional love and compassion towards all individuals, regardless of their social status, ethnicity, or past mistakes. He associated with outcasts, healed the sick, and offered forgiveness to those deemed unworthy by society. His actions were a testament to the transformative power of love and its ability to transcend the confines of religious structures.

One of the main reasons why I am critical of organized religion is the prevalence of hypocrisy within its ranks. It is disheartening to witness religious leaders who promote exclusivity, judgment, and discrimination, all while claiming to uphold the values of their respective faiths. This behavior can drive people away from religion, as it contradicts the fundamental teachings of love, acceptance, and humility.

Jesus himself vehemently criticized religious hypocrisy during his ministry. He called out the Pharisees and religious leaders for their self-righteousness and failure to practice what they preached. Jesus emphasized the importance of genuine faith, compassionate action, and a heart that aligns with the teachings of love.

What draws me to Jesus is the notion of a personal and transformative relationship with a higher power. This relationship transcends the confines of any particular religious institution. Rather than focusing on religious dogmas and rituals, I find solace in connecting with the divine on a personal level, allowing my spirituality to guide my actions and interactions with others.

Jesus' message transcends religious boundaries and speaks directly to the human heart. His teachings encourage us to love unconditionally, forgive wholeheartedly, and seek justice and peace for all. This spiritual connection allows me to find purpose and meaning in life, regardless of the limitations of organized religion.

It is essential to acknowledge that religion has provided solace, community, and guidance to countless individuals throughout history. Many people find great comfort in their religious traditions, and that should be respected. However, it is equally important to critically examine the potential limitations and negative aspects of organized religion.

In my personal journey, I have found solace in the teachings and example of Jesus, who stood against religious hypocrisy and emphasized the transformative power of love. By focusing on a personal connection with the divine and living out the principles of compassion and forgiveness, I strive to embody the essence of Jesus' message, irrespective of the constraints of any specific religious institution.

Let us engage in a respectful conversation about this controversial topic, acknowledging diverse perspectives and seeking a deeper understanding of spirituality beyond the boundaries of organized religion.
Politics / Mr. Eniye Khaki Congratulates Government Tompolo On His Multi-million Contract. by bluebutton: 9:55pm On Oct 04, 2022
Mr. Khaki Eniye has expressed his delight with the Niger Delta ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo over the winning of the Pipeline Surveillance Contract bid. He appealed to all organisations to end all legal issues involving the ex-militant leader, popularly called Tompolo, and pays more attention to the development of the Niger Delta region.

The Director Mr. Eniye, who is also an Ijaw Indigene, in a statement, said Tompolo have made indelible marks in the struggle for the advancement of the Niger Delta region at great risk to his life and family.

He said: “Tompolo is a true hero in the class of the late Major Jasper Adaka Boro, Harold Dappa-Biriye, Ken Saro Wiwa and other Niger Delta heroes.
He added that Tompolo gave everything towards the emancipation of the people of the region.

The Director also condemned the apathetic attitude of fellow ijaw indigenes and sundry organisations towards the demands of the people.

It is no longer news that Tompolo, has consolidated his hold on the coveted multi-billion naira Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s oil pipeline surveillance contract awarded to him by the Federal Government. This is a great feat for an Ijaw man.

This N4bn per month contract, which covers the Ijaw-speaking part of Bayelsa State (Southern Ijaw and Ekeremor local government areas), Delta, Ondo, Imo and Rivers states, attracted a groundswell of opposition from some stakeholders in Bayelsa, Ondo, Imo and Rivers states. Others, including the Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups who questioned the Federal Government’s patronage of Tompolo, who they labelled a fugitive.

Mr. Eniye who also had a vested interest in the bid for the Contract accepted the resolution of the Federal Government to award this contract in a crystal spirit of sportsmanship to work with Tompolo towards building a greater geo-political region

Mr. Eniye is pleased that Tompolo has since the emergence of the pipeline surveillance contract been adroitly engaging key stakeholders in the Niger Delta region, assuring them of his commitment to run an all inclusive operation to stamp out pipeline vandalism, oil theft and illegal bunkering in the region. This measure sparked a well deserved interest which Mr. Eniye intends to fan into a flame of development.

Holding Tompolo to his bond to reach out to all stakeholders and pointing out that “the business of pipeline surveillance is all inclusive.” Mr Eniye intends to engage Tompolo in further discussions in furtherance to the contracts and noticeably falling in line with the newly-found peace-building processes.

It is a thoughtful decision that holds the promise of impacting positively on constant efforts by the Federal Government to curtail avoidable disruptions in our crude oil production and improve our national economy, security and stability and we are into this development together.

Politics / Inec Online Database Hacked by bluebutton: 8:52am On Feb 02, 2019
The online database of the Independent National Electoral Commission was breached on Thursday, the 31st day of January 2019 by a popular hacktivist with handle “#777”. It can be recalled that this handle first appeared in 1999/2000 during the Savannah Bank saga.
Our sources gathered that private information, including but not limited to names, addresses, phone numbers of millions of registered voters had been extracted during the breach. It is unclear however, if the hacktivist is a lone wolf or this is a sponsored attack by a political party.
All attempts made to ascertain the level and severity of this breach from senior officers working at the INEC headquarters has been met with “no comment” responses.
However, it is important to find out how vulnerable INEC servers are, as well as the safety of citizens who in the course of obeying their civic duties, are now victims of the commission’s carelessness.

Crime / Court Attacked By Hoodlums In Rivers State by bluebutton: 8:42am On May 15, 2018
9am. Official court business time. Court filled to the brim with Lawyers and Litigants agog to have their cases heard and determined. Another bright day for official business.

Pending when the Trial Judge comes out of his chambers the lawyers and litigants will be seated . Lawyers seated at the Bar going through their files making last minute adjustments.

Litigants come in seated at the place meant for them. It continues like this the ingress and egress till the Court rises. Perfect court scenario.

On this particular day in the Garden City, the oil rich state of Rivers it was a pathetic story. Youths several in number thronged the court. Mayhem was their agenda. Taking advantage of the lapses in security they had a field day.

They shelled the Court buildings. Made way to the file rooms ransacked the place carted away vital files and exhibits. There was pandemonium. Lawyers and Litigants scurried for safety. The Trial Judge did in like manner. The concern is safety. Life before justice.

Natural scheme of things in the prevailing circumstances. Rivers is not the first. It may not be the last unless concerted efforts are made to nip a repeat in the bud.

In the hey days of the slain villain and kidnap linchpin, "vampire " his arraignment was scuttled in Owerri High Court. His confederates in crime came shot sporadically and succeeded in giving him a temporal lease of life. There are other instances in other parts of the country.

A Court is a solemn place where peoples destinies are sealed via verdict. Without mincing words if we are serious we can't afford to have it ill equipped security wise.

The reality on ground debunks a serious security proof attitude. A middle aged man without any weapon who locks the gate earning a meagre sum and dependent on tips to survive.

A lanky or obese police orderly with a pistol, who sits in a corner and sleeps most of the day nodding like Agama lizard at intervals. An errand boy in security costume. Should a situation occur he can't guarantee his safety let alone the Judge.

Sometimes female police officers are posted one per court. They look everything but serious. Sitting lackadaisically at the back seat lacking in elegance bereft of firearms.

The number cum appearance of the officers shows how lax we are security wise. Surely there is more to a court security than asking litigants to stop making noise and confiscating phones that disrupt proceedings.

Until we beef up our courts security properly more disaster awaits!!!

With respect to the establishmentof criminal intent, what was your offence again? To defraud right? My friend better see out a library or better still go and do your BAR 2 again get called properly. You are neither fit nor proper to speak about this matter until the filth that oozes out of your brain begin to make sense, maybe never.

My friend don't come here to lie against an innocent man. Here is a 39 years old accomplished young federal lawmaker. Remind me how old are you. FYI I'm very well acquainted with that matter and was going to ensure your criminal friend get a jail term for cyber bullying. Your friend's attempt to cheat and criminally extort him failed and he resorted to casting negative aspersions online. Did your friend tell you how he inflated his items above the agreed price?
Did your friend tell you that the Honourable asked him to go and carry his items when he discovered the change in prices but he refused because he knew what he did? (Considering the were not perishable items)
Can you provide any invoice or proforma invoice with the Honourable's signature agreeing to pay the ridiculously inflated prices eg. Footmat @ N30,000?
Your friend, just like other criminal minds, extortionist and opportunists took advantage of his trust and position.
When your friend threatened to report the Honourable to a shrine or deity as he is known for and the Honourable obliged him to why didn't he proceed? And if he did how come the Honourable is still very much alive and waxing stronger after he threatened that his deity will kill him. It's obvious his demons and deity is powerless to the Living God the Honourable worships.
Did your friend also tell you that the Honourable was so nice to him that even the Microwave he uses at home was bought by Hon Tony Nwulu as a gift to his wife? I'm sure he won't mention that.
Unfortunately your friend is not only an ingrate but one of those cheats without conscience. Obviously he didn't tell you the whole truth.
And there was never a time your friend flew to see him. Pls verify your claims and stop telling lies here.
Did your friend inform you that when he reported the Honourable to Ahmed Isah of Brekete in Abuja, known for his firm and resolute intervention. Ahmed subsequently reached out to get the Honourable side of matter, was so disheartened at your friend's dishonesty and even wanted to get him arrested for false allegations and character assassination but for the appeal by Hon Tony.
Everyone already know that people occupying sensitive or high positions are easy targets for extortionists and blackmailers so your friend's failed attempt isn't a surprise but to don't come here to sell your criminal friend's cheap garbages to enlightened minds.
The power of social media should be channelled positively and not negatively or criminally.
Like Chimamanda says, Beware of the dangers of a single sided story.
I advice you invest your time in more productive ventures. A million of your type can never be an obstacle or hinder him from attaining higher heights afterall you're not his God. Oga Go and discover your destiny or rent from someone if don't have before it's too late. My One Kobo advice.

Sure you still have kobos to spend.
If your friend said thought it expensive, why did he not return it.
You can't come here and open your N100 MTN recharge card mouth and run it like an unchecked tap.
For your information, I am well versed with the law on cyber bullying and I'm sure this tortfeasor knows that it isn't character assassination when you speak the truth.
I have copies of all my conversation's with him.
Better check your facts Mr.
Here's my One Trillion advice. From the same Chimamanda, Bath a pig, it will still go back to filth.
As for th Hon. Which you claimed to have been reported to, why then did your so-called truth teller send a PA.
BTW it isn't extortion when all you've asked is your money.
I oblige you to commence a suit against my friend. Not after the elections but before. I promise to shove all the remaining unpaid debt and claims up your Tony''s behind, he'll be too scared to touch an LGA ticket.
You think you are well versed to throw jail threats.
Be seriously guided and ask your Tony before you babble nonsense here.

When was she kidnapped?
Who was there with her at the junction (cos a 3-year old girl shouldn't be at the junction alone)?
You should be able to tell her exact age.

This can help in tracing her more easily.

Her teenage aunt.

Speaking from a legal point of view... Indonesia has a high rate of death sentences via lethal injections.
If you go there, you may end up in a prostitution ring and end up just like him.
Before being convicted, he must have been given a fair hearing. For offences racking up to 14yrs and above, he must have committed a serious felony.
You are 29 +15 that's like 44. Almost 1 year away from the menopause mark. You want to spend your life waiting for a felon?
The truth is, yes you obviously love him and would catch that grenade for him but my dear 15years to life is not a grenade. It's a flipping nuclear missile. You fell in love with a man not a criminal. When you look at him, you remember the man not the criminal but in prison, he is a criminal not the man you loved. The high rate of committing an offence in an indonesian jail can make him serve a life sentence.
You don't need prayers for God has given you the tool to sort this out. It is called a BRAIN.
Send him postcards. If he loves you, he will ask you to move on with your life. I know I would. Except if he is selfish.
By the way, 29 is like 1/3 of your life span gone. You want to waste another 1/3 be my guest.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
I came home from England few years back and I was told that my cousin's child got kidnapped.
This incident happened along Osisioma Ngwas junction in Aba, Abia State.
All attempts to find her is futile. I have now resorted to Social Media for aid.
Please, she was abducted when she was three years old. Now she's about 4 or 5 years old.
Her name is Chinwendu. I have faith that she will be found.
I also appeal to whoever has her to please return her to the nearest police station. Her uncle misses her. The gifts are still packed and waiting.
In God's name, if any one finds or has seen little miss Chinwendu, please report to the nearest police station of the Area Command in Aba, Abia State.
Thank you ever so much for your help.

Family / Marrying A Divorcee. Advice! by bluebutton: 2:35am On Jan 25, 2018
Yesterday I had the most wonderful time in my life. I spent time with my childhood crush. We had a lot of stories to tell but I could feel the years of hurt she has had to endure under her husband's rule and roof.
Life had not dealt her the best hand but I'm glad she bounced back. She is the most amazing girl I've seen.

I can't remember when I fell in love but I was too young and too naive to act on it. Maybe then I would have messed up that which I cherished so much.
Yesterday was a decade later after we saw each other, I linked up with this mother of the two most amazing princesses. Super brilliant kids. I spent some time with them. One could feel the void the enstranged dad left when another woman's body became his temple.
I've asked a lot of questions concerning getting married to a divorcee. Apparently no Nigerian mother wants her son to marry one but every Nigerian mother would want her daughter to try again if luck ran out. Seems a bit selfish.
I love this woman and the baggage that comes with it. I don't know if I should go ahead and get married to her.
Don't get me wrong. I have my fears too. One of which is that she may deal with me cos of what she went through with her ex-husband and secondly, will her priorities be on the family we are about to start or on mending her lost marriage hence a rebound.
I don't expect to find divorcees here but I think positive criticism will help. I really want honest advice from you guys.

Crime / Legal Rights Of Nigerian Citizens - Sphinx Esq. by bluebutton: 4:06pm On Nov 20, 2017
Subject to Section 214 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, the Police Force is an important and somewhat necessary institution. In Nigeria however, the police force has a somewhat jaded reputation and has been associated with inefficiency, corruption and indiscipline.
The average citizen resident in Nigeria, would have had at least one run-in with the Police Force and view them with a certain degree of caution.

The Nigeria Police Force has a wide range of powers conferred by Section 4 of The Police Act, which have been abused by certain officers of the force thus leading to the general distrust among the public.
The seemingly vast powers have led the erroneous belief that citizens have no rights against the police while they perform their duties.
This is not the case. The average Nigerian does have certain rights the police cannot ignore:

SEARCHES
The Nigeria Police do not have the right to search your premises without a search warrant or an authorization written and signed by a superior police officer of a rank above cadet assistant superintendent of police. You have the right to demand to see and read the warrant or authorization for the search.
Denial of this right is a violation of your rights. The police cannot confiscate any properties unrelated to the alleged crime that led to the search of your premises. You have the right to retrieve any property unlawfully confiscated during a search and claim damages against the police.

RIGHT TO BE INFORMED OF YOUR OFFENCE
Should the police attempt to arrest you, you have the right to know what offence you are being accused of. There has been various cases of people being arrested by the police without being informed the reason for their arrest. The most they were told was "When you get to the station, you will be informed" DO NOT GO ANYWHERE UNTIL YOU ARE TOLD YOUR OFFENCE OR WHY YOU ARE INVITED.
The police do not have the right to hold you or question you without telling you what offence you are suspected of committing.

ARREST IN LIEU
The police do not have the right to arrest you for an offence committed by another person no matter your relationship with that person. Stories abound of family members of suspected offenders being detained by the police when they are unable to find the suspect. You cannot be held accountable for the crimes committed by another person. No matter the harassment you receive from the police or the offence you are accused of, YOU ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY BY A COURT OF LAW! This right is guaranteed by Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

WRITING STATEMENTS IN THE POLICE STATION
You cannot be forced to write a statement without seeing your lawyer first. You have a right to have your lawyer present with you if you are arrested for a suspected crime and cannot be denied the right to consult your lawyer before writing any statement. Any statement you are forced to write after being denied this right is inadmissible against you in court. If you want to write a statement with the police, ensure you write the statement yourself or confirm that the written statement is accurate, before you sign it.
When signing your statement, make sure you date it. It is your right not to be forced or make a statement under duress by the police. A statement must be given voluntarily by the person making the statement without physical coercion or threats. It is your fundamental right not to be tortured into making a statement or confession. The 1999 Constitution grants you the right to dignity of human person which prohibits anyone from torturing you.

UNLAWFUL DETENTION BY THE POLICE
If you are detained by the police for any offence other than one punishable by death, you cannot be held for more than 24 hours before being brought before a court within forty kilometers having jurisdiction or a period of two days in any other case. You have the right to be released on bail with or without sureties.

THE ISSUE OF BAIL
Bail is FREE! It is a promise or undertaking made by an accused person to appear in the court of law or police station or any place required under the undertaking. The amount entered in the undertaking is a guarantee recoverable by the court from the accused or his surety on default of the accused.
You are not meant to pay the sum before being released. Sadly, a lot of Nigerians have fallen victims to corrupt police officers who demand that bail be paid before the accused is allowed to be freed.

DETENTION PROPER
While in detention, you have the right to see your lawyer, doctor or family members. You have the right to bring a civil action against the police for damages suffered from a violation of your fundamental rights against the police. You also have the right to a public apology from the police if you are unlawfully detained.

Most Nigerians have erroneously made their lives so vulnerable to all sorts that some corrupt policemen capitalize on their ignorance to unleash terror on them. The powers conferred on the police by the law are meant to protect the citizens and not bully them. This is one of the services we pay taxes for.

Education / Law School Student Drowns To Death by bluebutton: 9:21am On Aug 20, 2016
Following the end of term football matches organised by his fellow Bar One student, WAREBI AREBI, a Coventry University UK alumni attended a party at the Elim Tops Suites opposite the Law School in Bwari, Abuja to mark the end of lectures and the beginning of mid-term holidays.
At around 1-2pm, with no life guards on site and no proper signage, some students started taking skinny dips in the pool. It was a pool party after all and no one cared if the pool had any lighting at all. It didn't.
Warebi wasn't left out. In a drunk state (he had dilated pupils which indicated alcohol in his system), he jumped in. It was sure if he had cramps underwater but no one noticed his absence until he gave up his ghost in the watery grave.
A commotion ensued when the manager pointed out that what was thought to be a faint shadow was actually a lifeless body.
All attempts (CPR) to revive him proved abortive.
He was rushed to Bwari General Hospital and the Doctor on-site confirmed him BID(brought in dead).
The next day, Elim Tops suites brought in a life guard and told him to claim that he was there but not within proximity.
It is sad.
Warebi was more of a brother than a friend.
May his soul rest in peace.

PEDDLING NUDE PICTURES COULD RUIN YOU. MY FRIEND'S BRIDE'S PICS WAS REVEALED BY HER EX 2 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING AFTER SHE CLAIMED TO BE A VIRGIN AND LOCKED MY FRIEND OUT OF SEXUAL FAVOURS FOR YEARS OF COURTSHIP.

naijaboiy:
The simple reason why you are able to attract all those girls is because you are now made.
Bro,,don't jump anything. Settle down and search one last time. You may find the lady that finally ticks your fancy.
But if you must pick one i'd say I prefer a faithful wife than the rest.
You should also know that there is nobody without flaws. So pick one and try to see how you can overcome it.

Exactly my fear. I'm scheduled to come home this September to make a pick. I just might dismiss all of them. It might get ugly but hey... better a failed relationship than a broken marriage.
Thanks... oh btw... VIP Inv. Passes to All Nairalanders When I finally meet the one.
Romance / Advice Of The Next Step Before I Jump. by bluebutton: 9:46am On May 12, 2015
Let me begin this way...
I am a comfortable man with a comfortable job. I can carry my own weight. Before all that, I was just seen as a prospective pauper. To this end, I knew a few ladies I was attached to (sexually). The intention was to pick one that rocked my boat.It is note worthy to state that none of these ladies considered that I would get to where I am today now they claim that they cant live without me.

Girl 1. - She is a mummy's girl. Does everything her mum dictates. Mum says that I must be of the catholic denomination before she even gives it a thought. I eavesdropped on a conversation and overheard her mum advising her to end the relationship. She lives above her means and lies a lot. She told me to buy UK sanitary pads for her that she is allergic to Nigerian products. we fell out when I asked her if she has been using cocoyam and plantain leaves before we met.

Girl 2: Sister owned a company I worked in. We were lonely in the office one night and the rest is history. 2days before travelling out to the UK, I feigned my voice to be a strange caller... called her with my friend's phone. When I travelled out, my friend sent me a nude picture of her. Minutes after calling her. So she dropped her call to me and sent my friend a nude picture. Not been able to shake that off my head.

Girl 3: Know her for years, she is stingy. I think if we get married she will count the peices of meat my visitors will have. She has the ideology that her man must produce everything and spend while she hoards her finances for personal use. She is in-tempered and can poison someone with a smile. I feel uneasy when she gets angry. Again, she is very stubborn and territorial but very faithful.

Girl 4: I dont know how to put this that will sound right. She is my late ex - girlfriend's friend. She is very troubled due to her childhood experience with her uncle. At least that is what she told me. I have not been with her long enough to trust her but I feel she wants to get married for the sheer sake being under a man's roof. Beyond that, nothing else interests her in all our discussion.

Girl 5: Was introduced to me by a senator's daughter. She is humble. Met her a virgin. I just have the issue of our interactions. She has this nossy bff that dictates when and how we live out our relationship. If I try to communicate calmly about the fact that I am uncomfortable with the intrusive nature of her friend... she doesnt want to see reason.

Girl 6: She is young and naive. I know her mum and the marital history isn't a bright beacon. Survey reveals that she was queer at some point in her life. Call me homophobic but I could react badly if I discover that I married a lesbian.

Girl 7: She's a British citizen of RSA decent. she helps when she can I cant stand how she distrusts Nigerians. I have walked out of the door cos of her comment. She is very jealous and extremely territorial. Sneaks out of my bedroom to go through my phone in the living room.

I know having 7 ladies can be bad but guys (we all have options) and ladies (following your reasoning-you like to keep your options open).
Call it love or lust... the fact is I know these girls. Picking one is like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea. Both kill. All I ask is for you to help me pick the lesser devil.
