WhatsApp, the instant-messaging client beloved of people too cheap to text, appears to contravene international privacy laws because of the way it forces users to grant it access to their entire address book.

Reuters reports that both the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Dutch Data Protection Authority have released reports explaining that the app violates privacy laws. They explain that the way the app takes control of the address book, commandeering all the phone numbers within — including both users and non-users of the app — is unlawful. Jacob Kohnstamm, chairman of the Dutch Data Protection Authority, explains:

“This lack of choice contravenes (Canadian and Dutch) privacy law. Both users and non-users should have control over their personal data and users must be able to freely decide what contact details they wish to share with WhatsApp.”

The agencies claims they will continue to monitor WhatsApp, and may even begin to impose penalties upon it if it continues to use the same model. So far there’s no word from WhatsApp about the allegations.

Obama's election will actually slow down any aggression of against Tehran from Jeruselam. Which is good news. There should be other ways of dealing with the Persians, not outright war. Obama uses better and strategies to solve issues like Iran without endangering or getting Americans hands dirty. The arab rising is an example. Tougher sanctions against Iran can put paid to their Nuclear arms ambition. Intelligency solves problems better than aggression.

Microsoft may be working to completely retire Windows Live
Messenger (formerly named MSN
Messenger) in the coming months,
with plans to integrate the service
into Skype, reports the Verge. An official announcement revealing
this change could come as soon as this
week, although Microsoft has yet to
confirm or deny anything. This
decision would make quite a lot of
sense, if true, as Microsoft has been in the process of retiring the entire
Windows Live brand for months. Windows Live Messenger relies on
Microsoft’s Messenger service — the
same service that is already being
used to support Skype. Having a
shared architecture could be an early
sign that a merger is coming. Additionally, consolidating services
like this would reduce the potential
confusion that duplicate options often
cause. Microsoft only released Windows Live
Messenger 2012 back in August,
which suggests that the company is
taking its time moving things over. As
of 2009, Windows Live Messenger had
over 330 million monthly active users. At the very least, this means that Skype
will soon see a major jump in
numbers. Microsoft first acquired Skype back in
May 2011 for 8.5 billion.

May D may or may not know what he has done; but the tides are already heating up and soon, there may be just another messy war between him and Square records barely two months after he was dropped by the label.

At Felabration 2012 held recently at the New Afrika Shrine, Akinmayokun May D Awodumila was one of the selected artistes to perform and indeed he performed.

May D threw caution to the wind and stormed the stage with P Square’s Do as I do which featured Tiwa Savage and himself.

He didn’t stop there as he went quickly into his award winning single Soundtrack before diving headlong into Chop my Money. May D wrapped up his act with his hit single Ile Ijo.

In all of P Square’s songs performed on this night, May D didn’t stick to his lines, rather, he took the entire songs from start from finish.

The crowd, however, didn’t seem to notice or perhaps were not bothered as they hollered and danced away the entire time.

Square Records boss Jude Engees Okoye had in a statement issued in August this year, announced that the label was severing ties with May D due to irreconcilable differences. A month later, May D launched own label Confam Entertainment.

His single Soundtrack fetched him the ‘Best R&B Single’ award at The Headies this year.
