Honestly T-pain is not a child's play. Who does not feel it is not living in this country except the super rich.
There was a rainfall that came with heavy breeze on Saturday, in Calabar and many trees fell, some even destroying properties.
What was the touching thing about the incident?
OMG!
On Sunday morning, you needed to see how people were rushing to cut the fallen trees for firewwod. I sad both the poor and the rich were scampering for firewood. You would see someone parking his Jeep, cutting branches of the trees into his vehicle and driving home. He would go offload and return, again and again.
Mama, Papa and pikin, nobody was left out.
A KG of gas now is N1500. A litre of Keresine same amount. Fuel same amount. Rice, beans, Garri out of the reach of the ordinary.
It seems like situations replicate in this life. This vividly reminded me of years back when I was in the same situation. You would think some people are nice until you live with them.
overseasnbeyond: This is a disgrace coming out from the IGBO tribe, how on earth you called this death trap a cruise boat? You claim to be the best in everything, imagine the wood carcass you called a cruise boat. where are thou billionaires that y'all boast about?
So Calabar is Igbo tribe? I keep wondering which school some of you here finished from.
Calabar Boat Mishap: C'River Governor Orders Investigation Into Cruise Boat Accident, Commends Navy, Villagers For Prompt Response
Cross River State Governor, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, has ordered investigation into the cruise boat mishap involving 14 medical students at the popular Marina Resort in Calabar, the state capital.
The governor, who is saddened that 3 of the medical students, who are in Calabar for the Nigeria Medical Students Games, are yet-to-be found, charged security and rescue agencies as well as local villagers involved in the operations to find the missing students and reunite them with their families.
Otu decried the safety standards at the resort, vowing that anyone found guilty to have compromised on safety would be severely sanctioned.
“The news of a cruise boat mishap at the Marina Resort, a tourist and relaxation destination in Calabar, is saddening and calls for concern not only as your governor but as a parent.
“To imagine that the boat was overcrowded and some of those on it were without life jackets is of even greater concern, and the more reason why the state government will be investigating the incident and all those found culpable of having compromised on safety standards will face the wrath of the law.
“As a government, our administration remains committed to protecting the sanctity of life and providing an enabling environment for business, tourism and peaceable living. Therefore, any untoward action that could derail our objective will not be tolerated,” the governor stated.
He further expressed his joy that all but for one of the rescued students were out of hospital and was confident that the remaining one will pull through as doctors say he is stable and responding to treatment.
Governor Otu was full of praise for personnel of the Nigerian Navy and local villagers who responded swiftly to the hapless revellers and rescued 11 of the 14 passengers on the boat.
There was a heavy downpour in Calabar yesterday that got some part of the city heavily flooded. Consequently, some cars were later found in strange positions due.
A Calabar based man has just killed a python this morning and apparently, it seems like a big blessing to the man and his family.
In the Facebook post made by a lady, suspected to be the man's wife or daughter, she tagged the python whose head has been cut off "blessed weekend", meaning, d weekend don set be that.
I know say a certain moderator on nairaland shares in their weekend blessing and wish for some portion when fully garnished.
Talking about dirt, in my area, it became unbearable and we had to task ourselves, hired a truck and pay loader to take the rubbish away. And this is a state managed by someone who wants to be the next president of Nigeria. The thunder that will fire Ayade will be constructed by Buhari in Daura after his return from office.
iTearHerToto: I actually had an idea on how to go about assisting the less privileged and misfortuned in this shiiithole just like you are having right now but the thought of crooked souls disguising and taking all the help killed that idea in a sec
My name is Professor M.E.I. I know you are very knowledgeable and passionate about helping less privileged children, especially these unfortunate ones that have found themselves out on this street, exposed to hunger, crime and worst still, their untimely death in the hands of desperate wealth-seekers.
Over the years, I have seen firsthand some of the great things you are doing for society’s men and women in your Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship foundation.
In my view, I think you should benevolently extend some of that good into helping children. True that you—or anybody else reading this, do not owe these children any allegiance or aid. It is unfortunate that one would never know why their parents have forsaken them in this manner. The individuals they consider their world has let them down. Please, do not let them down.
This is my email address iamvarang007@gmail.com. I'd love to know how I can possibly utilize whatever resources you’ve decided to, in the course of good Justice and natural conscience, help these children. I’m willing to put them through school, and personally ensure that in a decades’ time, we turn around the lives of these children.
I'd totally understand if you cannot respond to this because of your busy schedule, but I will be glad if you do.
The one thing you fail to realize is that not all of these kids you see on the streets of Calabar are actually homeless or orphans.
Most of them actually ran away from homes, most of them still have parents looking for them.
The boys always end up becoming petty thieves and the girls always end up becoming hookers.
Another annoying fact is that most of these skolombo kids love the streets and don't want to leave because believe it or not there are actually making money on these streets from stealing and begging.
They're gradually becoming a nuisance to calabar and i just hope something is done about it fast...
Your last paragraph is the reason for this thread.
