Nigeria is a share share economy. Sharing proceeds from oil. Therefore whatever people may say the only region that may truly want out is the south south. And that is a may because some may realise that a South south on its own may now descend into even more balkanization

The first thing I think we need is fiscal autonomy of different regions. Which may be achievable if the leaders are not playing their own games
Fiscal autonomy under the current system is a dream that will never come true. Nigeria is too dependent on natural resources which the country is rich in but not evenly distributed across different regions. While the southern parts and Middlebelt have majority of the natural resources that are economically valuable, the north is not so fortunate.

How can you ever achieve financial autonomy with that realization? Maybe if the country had not deviated from the old regional governments, we had post-independence things may have been better. Maybe if each region had decided to invest in whatever resources they have comparative advantage in , things would've been better.

Imagine if the north had invested in human capital and taken Agriculture more serious like they do in countries like Netherlands, they may not even have to look-up to FG's sharing formula to get their share from the South-South oil sales.

Balkanization of the country in its present state is the only reasonable chance of pressing a reset button over the forceful union that has not yielded good fruit to all parties.

U literally confuse the Hindu religion with Hindu language which is incorrect. If 80% of Indians speak Hindu then they should have Hindu as their national language
Hindu is not a language , Hindi is .

Hindi is the official language of India . Hindu is a person practicing Hinduism (the religion with the most number of adherents in India)

I honorably disagree with you here. India is a diverse country with thousands of languages & ethnicities
You can't be disagreeing because you feel like disagreeing with something that is a fact. Nobody is arguing with you whether they speak one thousand languages in India or not.

Don't you understand what it means when they say people share cultural ancestral history ? The Central government in India uses Hindi as the official language and the language spoken in the Indian Parliament. Nigeria adopt English as official language because a Calabar man in Nigerian parliament has no business with speaking Yoruba, A TIV man shares absolute zero cultural values and language with the Igbo man.

If u meet a man from Southern India and another one from Northern India you will hardly know the difference as a foreigner, same cannot be said about Nigerians from different parts of this country

Well, that's the game that has to be played even by good actors. Which makes it worse when bad actors like Tinubu get into the system
The structure does not incentivise continuity, does not incentivise nation building, does not incentivise long term planning, and does not incentivise finding like minded partners.

It starts with north Vs south, Christian Vs Muslim, then sub-regional rotation. Obi's travails are the perfect microcosm of the irredeemable flaws of the system - at some point Obi was even promising to do only ONE term to try and garner support NOT with the electorate but within the political system.

There's no hope
On this we agree.

I think the president that takes the bold step towards Nigeria's disintegration will be the best president Nigeria ever had.

OkpaNsukkaisBae:
India is not different from Nigeria.

Great Britain also colonized India.
Britain merged different cultures, ethnicities, languages to create one State called India.
Today, India is the largest democracy in the world
For starters the British employed Indirect rule in Nigeria while they adopted direct centralized rule in India. They unified the Indians under a centralized government and gave them a national identity forged out of their ancient civilization. India is an ancient civilization unlike what we have back in africa with different tribes and ethnic groups that don't share any sort of identity culturally .

The British actually left a functioning state when they were exiting India at Independence. They actually built a state out of India which is in contrast to what they did with Nigeria. They practically left a divided under developed state comprised of culturally heterogenous groups that were forcefully amalgamated under one country.

You really need to understand how terrible the idea of Lord Luggard's amalgamation was to understand the crime the British committed here. Nigeria was created for them to just extract our resources and nothing more.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:03am On Jun 01
nihilistjnr:
Lord Lugard is representative of the colonial legacy that has destroyed any prospects of Nigeria surviving as a state.

When you artificially create a state to include ethnic groups that historically had little contact with each other, share almost no culture, language or religious principles and then disappear - the only way for those groups to stay in the single country is federal character.

The British implemented direct rule in the south, and indirect rule in the north creating the educational divide that exists today - yet the largely uneducated North must be represented in government regardless of their lack of education, skill, exposure, or experience.

The argument for representation is what has led Nigeria to go from 3 regions to 4 regions to 12 states to 19 states to 30 states to 36 states, and has given us the ridiculous concept of a 'South-South' geographical reference.

It is impossible to move to a political scenario where anyone can consider what is best for the country when the starting line is the consideration of what is best for each individual nation state.

When the political equation forces a southerner to cut deals with northerners to buy support for a national election that cannot be won solely on the merit of the manifesto, then the Defence portfolio HAS to be for sale, same as all other ministerial and legislative slots.

Make no mistake by thinking Tinubu is uniquely at fault here - he is btw, but the political fragmentation in Nigeria means that Democracy is ironically the worst possible political system to practice in the country. If political thought cannot be debated by a majority culturally homogeneous which we clearly lack, the only option to keep Nigeria as a single country is consolidate political thought and power into a small centralised axis like we had during the military era. I don't believe that's what any rational and right minded person should be subscribing to.

However I do believe it's the only option with a reasonable chance of keeping Nigeria as a single non-failed state long term. The alternative which is what I believe in, is to break the goddam contraption into pieces and try to undo the havoc of the colonial administration that created it solely to streamline their resource extraction efforts more efficiently.

There is no hope. The previous 'improvement' in the administrations post Abdusalam Abubakar were just the consequence of the lag between the effects of the centralised government winding down and the effects of proportional representation catching up.

Nigeria has always been doomed. Tinubu or no Tinubu.
I agree with ur post 98%. The only point I disagree with is that "Nigeria has always been doomed with or without Tinubu". It gives a feeling like Tinubu can be absolved of any blame for the shambolic state we find ourselves as a people today.

Tinubu himself made strange bed fellows in the name of playing politics and forming master strategist. For starters what business does a fellow like Bello Matawalle have with being appointed Minister for state for Defense? What is the pedigree of the man that made him fit for that role? He literally appointed as defense minister a man whose state was overrun by terrorists while he was governor.

There are quite a number of these guys in his government that gives the feeling that he is more interested in politics than governance and that is showing in the results we see every day. He appointed Atiku Bagudu as his minister for budget despite that one being known as Abacha's bag man.

No point here.

India has more than 1000+ different spoken languages.
India has more than 2000+ ethnic groups
They also have more than six major religious groups.

India is flourishing and seeing economic growth, development & prosperity.
India is very much different from Nigeria; I don't even know where to start explaining this to you.

Lol clearly you're the emotional one here. Why are you angry that Obi is contesting when it's clearly the turn of the South? Can't your greedy mumutiku support a Southern candidate and take over 4 years later...and make sure you tell your selfish boss to also choose a Northern running mate since he doesn't care or believe in zoning.

cheesy grin
Simple!

Since Elder like his irresponsible principal thinks talking about southern or Northern politics is about emotions, let Atiku kukuma select another northerner like himself as his VP candidate na.

Maybe if he does that he will win his first presidential election in over 30 years and stop being the serial failure we have come to know him to be.

Some of the rival fans are just plainly shameless and hopeless, hence their wailings from the place of pain!

Prior to the match rival fans both offline and online were predicting arsenal will be whitewashed by PSG the way Inter Milan swallowed goals in the final last year. Chelsea fans whose team were drubbed home and away on heavy goal difference by PSG hoped we would share in their misfortune while the other ones that either didn't qualify for champions league football or lost on the way thought PSG would give arsenal a humbling defeat so they can claim we didn't deserve the EPL like some dumb ones have been parrotting.

When the match start reality hit everyone. They saw arsenal holding UCL champion to the jugular for 120 mins till the penalty shootout.

Now the fear of what arsenal has become has not allowed them rest even when arsenal has moved on to relish the wonderful season they just had.

Make no mistake, there will be more wailings in the coming days but be rest assured it is from a place of pain and copium!

Arsenal tí di araba, inu'n bi old school ìrókò tree wọn! 😜

No be the same military wey he say dey overstretched Tinubu deploy to Benin in April 2026 for inauguration of government officials in Benin Republic? last year we saw Naija airforce fighter jets in combat operation in the same Benin to quell military coup. This argument of military been overstretched doesn't hold.
This is why I told GloriousGbola those excuses he was giving on behalf of FG are actually not it. The government just chooses what it decides to prioritize while other issues are left unattended to.

It's just the same way Buhari government left a lot of roads not repaired and then decided to start constructing railway line to Niger republic and we have people making excuses on behalf of Buhari's government explaining the benefits of constructing that railway line.🤦‍♂️

Come to think of it, I never believe Havertz had it in him to score that type of goal he netted yesterday with the pressure and all.

In fact, when he hit that shot I thought he side-netted. At the open air sports arena I watched the match, we were all in shock when he hit that ball. We couldn't decide if the ball hit the back of the net or if it was just a case of side netting. It was when the replayed was shown the reality hit us all.

I believe yesterday's match was a lesson for all members of the team and the management Sha. Mosquera has definitely learnt his lesson and would time his tackles wella going forward.

I'm proud of the team for how far we've come over time!

Well Done, Gabu, Rice and Raya.

Well deserved.
Congratulations to Rice, Gabriel and Rice ; they all deserve the special mention. If Timber wasn't injured he would've made the RB slot I'm very sure.

We really had a fantastic year honestly! All our players did really well. I like the fact that there's a great team spirit around the team.

and did the military boys win?

does a sit at home look like victory?

coordinating security for protest is different from fighting terrorists who have a completely different agenda and are armed and supported by foreign interests
Sit-at-home is a non violent means of protest; no government can force people to go out if tbey choose not to. Freedom of movement is a fundamental human right guaranteed by the constitution.

I am simply telling you that the government chooses what it decides to prioritize (quashing peaceful protests that are legal) and you should stop making excuses for them. It's irksome reading some of those excuses.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 1:36pm On May 31

you have 10 police men and you have robberies in 6 estates at the same time. you need to deploy a minimum of 5 policemen to each robbery. so where do you sen dteh police men to, knowing that at least four of these robberies are by the same gang who are coordinating with each other?
But when there's protest for good governance in 36 states of the federation the police always have enough men to disrupt all the protests despite protests being guaranteed by the constitution.

All these excuses no be am at all.

If this present government has the willpower to fight banditary/terrorism/fulani militia to a stop, they will get the job done. When Buhari was interested in fighting IPOB in the southeast, didn't he send the miliary boys gun blazing after them?

I don't really like the ref talk because it might sound as an excuse.

But awarding a corner kick and later blowing the whistle for half time before we even play the kick. Na that one funny pass 🤣🤣🤣
Like how?

Then there's Mosquera's yellow. Doue sliding tackle on Saka only to award a yellow card to Saka. Omo
The ref just officiated as if he has something against Arsenal as a team. Mendes clearly impeded Madueke right inside the box in the extra time, yet he just waived play on without even considering the incident for review.

Anyways, we move! Our players tried and should be proud of themselves, that match was our 63rd game of the season. Apart from that penalty miss, Gabriel gave a good account of himself all through the night.

One player that disappointed me was Eze and his wack PK. I saw clips of him playing similar PK while at Crystal palace which he lost too. The guy really needs to step up his overall game next season to justify he deserves to play in a big team like Arsenal.
