This is why no reasonable Nigerian with education above secondary school level should support Dangote's push for monopoly in the oil and gas industry.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reduced its gantry price of diesel by N200 as importers reportedly receive new shipments.

The refinery cut the price from N1,800 per litre to N1,600 on Wednesday, according to Platts, an independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets.

Confirming the reduction, Joseph Obele, the national public relations officer of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), said the diesel price was reduced on May 26.

The development comes amid a legal dispute on import licences issued or renewed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to fuel marketers and NNPC.

Obele told TheCable that the latest price cut is widely seen as a positive impact of increased competition in the downstream petroleum sector.

“Dangote Refinery recently took legal action after NMDPRA granted five import licences to marketers for the importation of petroleum products,” the PRO said.

“Over the weekend, several of the vessels reportedly arrived, and the refinery reduced the price of AGO commonly known as diesel, by N200. The reduction is from N1,800 to N1,600.”
You may love Dangote for the investments he does in Nigeria while other billionaires take their money to offshore tax havens for investment, but don't take Dangote as Ur friend when it comes to how he prices his products.

Mikel Arteta has been named the Premier League's Manager of the Year
Well deserved!

His team was on top of the EPL table from game week 7 to game week 38. That's a whopping 31 game week on top with jeers from rival fans speculating and praying that you capitulate, lose the league and come second for the 4th year running.....but despite the up and downs he was able to keep the players going. Even when some of the players were exhausted, everyone just kept on going.

Arteta seem like a good man manager Sha beacuse tell me how he didn't use Lewis-Skelly all season and somehow when he called on him in the final games of the season the boy gave us his 100% without having a chip on his shoulder?

The whole celebration that followed the EPL win showed Arteta had a very cordial relationship with almost everybody on our team.

I went to MRS to fill cooking gas on Saturday and cooking gas has moved from 1350 to 1600, I was just shaking my head and hissing. This same cooking gas was 1050 last month, an increment of 550 in less than a month, how do you plan towards that?

The only thing that has remained relatively cheaper this year is foodstuffs like rice, beans and the likes.
It is well bro.

The way even drugs like malaria drug, Antibiotics and common carttarh drugs take expensive now sef, I wonder how people who have serious underlining ailments dey suevive sef.

Even if person go general hospitals wey dem no too dey charge for consultancy, u will still have to buy drugs, drip, pint of blood and injection which are also expensive.

That's a very good way to wipe out money easily.

See the one wey Umahi build for Abakaliki. Billions of naira in his Aza, with no questions

Fayemi too. I remember when Oasis was telling us how the Agro port will boost agriculture trade amongst states.

So, it is Ugu leaf that is 3 for #500 naira, that someone will go and waybill by air. Aviation fuel don cheap like that?
grin grin grin

States wey dey practise agriculture in the middlebelt and core north no build agro airport, na Ekiti state wey almost every every family get one professor dey build cargo airport in the name of boosting agriculture trade. cheesy

I feel those politicians don see our people finish,....They know the lamba our people are willing to believe, they sell the lamba to party faithfuls and their supporters then they wait for them to pass same lamba down to the less educated in the society who will sing their praises to high heaven.

See someone like Umahi, till date he believes he is a good manager of resources due to the white elephant project airport he constructed. He doesn't care whether plane flies in and out of the airport. I'm sure in few years to come he will start campaigning for president and will refer to that airport as one of the projects he "delivered" while he was governor.

Bayelsa to PHC Airport is less than 2 hrs. This is another white elephant project intentioned solely to siphon money. Smaller states should be collaborating with neighboring states for Air travels. The need/ demand for a commercial airline in Bayelsa is nearly non-existent.

Infact, if they invested those funds in improving their waterways travel/ commute, they would have better overall long-term outcomes.
izzou:
To find a direct bus to Yenagoa is not even common. The fastest means is to enter a bus going to PH, and drop at Yenagoa junction.

Na the same people get airport and airline.
It just seem Nigerian governors are fantastically wicked with the way they come up with these white elephant projects to siphon money from their respective states especially once they are in their second term.

There's no justification for that Bayelsa airport at all.

I know we have people who believe we have infrastructure deficit as a country o, but I don't think absence of airport should be counted as infrastructure deficit.

Bayelsa state owned Pioneer Airlines has commenced non-scheduled flight operations with one of the aircraft acquired by the Bayelsa State government, an ATR 72-600, and operated by the private airline.

The flight was flown by Captain M. Ibrahim and First Officer Joyce, a female co-pilot, in the cockpit.

The aircraft taxied off the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 11:00hrs and, following clearance from the control tower, was airborne at 11:10hrs en route the Bayelsa International Airport.
I never knew Bayelsa had an airport(International Airport at that ) until today. shocked

An international airport that has just two airlines flying that route; Ibom Air (Abuja - Bayelsa) and United Nigeria Airlines( Abuja- Bayelsa, Lagos-Bayelsa).

What's this craze with every state building airport at all cost? Can't they use these monies to develop other sectors of their local economy?

As small as Bayelsa state is, if they put the money used to construct the airport in 2019 to develop other sectors of the state economy, I believe the people will be better off for it instead of Airport that people hardly use due to close proximity with Rivers state. Now dem don float airline again. cry

I think trying to do all reforms at once is the Achilles heel of this administration. It just doesn't make sense that you keep pushing people more into poverty in the name of reform.

The annoying thing is even the slow pace they are going about it as if people's lives is not at stake.
That's the thing! People are in serious poverty, people are losing jobs and the president will say he understands how they feel. Lies!

Even for people who seem to have good jobs & living comfortably; the pressure from family, friends and even strangers looking towards them for financial help dey make almost everybody feel am one way or the other.

Exactly

Na why Uncle Jimi believe say there's something else apart from what they want us to believe

The other day on Arise, they asked Bwala about the situation on the APC primaries. He answered, and then began to mention how Obi was unserious to be a president.

The same ADC that cursed him for leaving, cannot even conduct a primary (transparent or not).

Na Obi still be the problem
Anytime Jimi Disu tries to raise these obvious points, u will see paid bots cussing him and trolling Obi in comment section of Nigeria Info either on FB or Youtube. Sometimes I wonder if those guys are really paid to do that or they are just doing it for the hatred they have for anything that has to do with Obi?

As regards the ADC, one would think now that Obi is out of the party shebi Atiku will clinch his consensus ticket and nobody will have issues with him . But see the same ADC having two factions; even Atiku's faction still have issues with Amaechi kicking against the same consensus they were forcing Obi to kiss the ring and accept.

Many Nigerians lack discipline in billing

For my grandmums funeral, I had gone round all her children and grandchildren abroad and gathered contributions which covered almost all expenses, tagged it as contribution from "her children and grandchildren" covering everyone so those less well-off are covered. . . . while other extended family members, friends and adopted children put their own contribution to the point contributions exceeded budget by a few million.

Because list of contributors is published in extended family WhatsApp group, one of my uncle I have already covered under our contribution went to put in N250k so his name can be published separately from "children and grandchildren", now just couple weeks later his family are billing me for feeding money. I had to be very abrupt with them and give them a piece of my mind.
Some people are like that sha, they like unnecessary show off even when they have other serious pressing needs.

1. If I remembered correctly, I once posted here that Tinubu and Cardoso are intentionally keeping the exchange rate at that 1300 - 1400 range to enable them actually fund the budget. Personally I feel a stronger naira means cheaper dollars and that's why they celebrate it.

2. It's in terms of Naira equivalent, the dollar equivalent is most likely the same or even lesser. It's also why I don't parrot that nonsense anymore because when you factor in the increase in price of most goods and services due to the exchange rate, you will see it cancel out wherever increase in FAAC allocation that they get.
Your honesty is well appreciated 🙏

Despite keeping the Dollar at 1300 - 1400, we still read of how they struggle to fund the budget with paltry 36 million was the fund released to ministry of health under 2025 budget out of ₦218billion budgeted for capital allocation.

You would agree with every well meaning Nigerian that Buhari's government was the worst thing that ever happened to this country. Then Tinubu's administration taking over from Buhari hasn't really done better like most pro-Tinubu pseudo analysts want us to believe.

I just don't like it when start muddling waters to make it seem like the country was in ruins before APC took over. No it wasn't! We were expecting something better, not worse like it has gotten in the past 11 years and counting.

I was listening to Jimi Disu some weeks back when Obi went to NDC.

Jimi said that even though he doesn't know whether Obi will fix Nigeria or not, he is now convinced that Nigerian politicians don't want him to contest. They keep dragging him, even though other contestants are there

They roasted him for dodging primaries in ADC even when it was untrue. Now, the same ADC cannot even organize its own primaries. Two factions with two different results, and Obi isn't even there.

The same APC insulting him about primaries have conducted their own; Inflated and false figures everywhere. So the purpose of the primary was never about transparency.

The man has left all of them, yet they won't let him rest.

Na here I see say Donald Duke and Makinde go pull votes. Nobody dey drag them for contesting. Nobody is dragging Amaechi and Jonathan. It's only one person that is the problem.
That's why I say u must really have time to try reasoning with someone like Elder who is clearly disillusioned and obsessed with Obi.

He somehow thinks Obi is a threat to Atiku's life long ambition of becoming the president of this country. The only thing that will pacify him is for Obi to accept to be Atiku's vice and somehow use "juju" to command his supporters to cast their vote for Atiku who has been rejected by the electorate since 1992/93 general elections.

He never has problem with other southern candidates who have chosen to distance themselves from Atiku the unsellable product.

I actually went back to the link you posted and I just realised the guy that made that statement was just looking for a banger headline. The facts don't align.

First, our debt profile is not a hidden document, it's open for anyone to see and scrutinize for themselves. Our total debt today is 159 trillion naira.

Secondly, Buhari handed over a total debt of 87 trillion naira to Tinubu. That's around $103 billion.

Thirdly, when Buhari was leaving office, he used Emefiele to pin the 25 trillion ways and means payment into public debt further increasing the domestic debt.

Fourth, Buhari left an external loan of $43.16 billion, as at today, our external loan is $51.86 billion which means this administration has borrowed $8.7billion which if you use today exchange rate is 11.9 trillion naira plus another 15.3 trillion on domestic debt which brings his total debt to 27.2 trillion naira

Fifth, the writer of that post was being deliberately mischievous using a base of 12 trillion debt which Jonathan left in office when Buhari already balloon the national debt to 87 trillion naira before he left.

Of course exchange rate is an important part of national debt, the debts that Jonathan and Buhari left that Tinubu is servicing now, he will still have to source the $$ in today's exchange rate.

To make it eve clearer for you, when Jonathan handed over to Buhari, the total national debt was $63 billion which in naira was 12 trillion naira that the mischievous man quoted. According to Okonjo Iweala, Jonathan only borrowed $21 billion out of this $63 billion debt.

When Buhari left office, the total national debt is $103 billion which is 87 trillion naira using the official exchange rate then. If you look at it critically, Buhari didn't borrow X2 of what Jonathan left but the naira equivalent is x7. Why is that? Because Buhari exchange rate at the end of his tenure is significantly higher than GEJ own.

If you keep going downward further, you'll notice the same pattern. 1 billion dollars under Obasanjo is not the same as 1 billion dollars under GEJ. Same way 1 billion dollars under Abacha is not the same as 1 billion dollars under Obasanjo

Time value of money, inflation and exchange rate all play a part.
1.Why do you think each government including Tinubu's always celebrate when the naira gains against the dollar in the foreign exchange market?

2. When FG claims governors now have as much as x3 of previous FAAC allocations under Tinubu's government, are they referring to Naira or dollars?
