His accident was not as a result of any other thing in his life before meeting Dangote, was not as a result of getting fired by the other company, not by anything wey happen since he got to Portugal and not that he got distracted thinking about Dangoe(Not GF wey leave am or FC Porto losing to Benfica) while riding bike or the truck driver being reckless. Friends and families of Dangote’s former head of security are dragging him for alleged complicity in his death in Portugal .

The Portuguese was employed as head of security on 3 year contract . At the expiration of the contract , he continued to work while waiting for the contract to be renewed. They paid him only basic salary but other benefits and bonuses that he enjoyed while he was still on contract did not come along with the basic salary .

The guy got frustrated after a year and got a job in Abuja with another company which prompted him to resign at Dangote . The HR team accepted his resignation but Dangote later called him for a meeting . It was at the meeting he was arrested and was accused of sabotage .

The whole arrest affected him psychologically but he was later released after the police found out the allegations by Dangote could not be proven . He later lost the Abuja job offer and had to relocate back to a Portugal in his depression .

The guy was knocked down by a truck while on his bike in Portugal . His lawyer friend has claimed that his work issues that drove into depression was likely responsible for his death .

Dangote Brand and communications team go really see work do o, especially this period that he is planning on expanding his refinery business to other countries .

His international lenders too will be raising serious concerns about his staff welfare going forward

like i said earlier this year at 2 am thieves broke into my neighbours house. the man was out of town but he had cctv. he called me. i started banging on his gate and i woke up everyone in the estate, the guy called opc and police. they caught one of the robbers in the house. as the dragged the guy out he was talking gibberish and nonsense. but he was clearly educated and had a dhl uniform. i assumed he was high, but someone else said no, he is just pretending to be crazy. the fact that the police who are normally violent started handling the guy with kid gloves say to me that this is a game they all understand

I can’t invalidate your experience and I also don’t trust Nigerian police

I don't think police alone can release him, especially for a case of this nature. It has to go through the courts.

Let me tell what you what I know from reading crime section of Nigerian newspapers from a very young age .

When Nigeria police arrests a suspect for a serious crimes like robbery, gender based violence , kidnapping , etc ; they would usually send the file of the suspect to Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) of the state where the crime took place .

The DPP will now advise the police on prosecution or otherwise .

I don’t know if that happened in this case , but I believe if it did the DPP will clearly let the police know that prosecuting the guy may just be a waste of tax payers funds cos his lawyers might plead insanity and he may likely walk .

I can’t vouch for Nigerian Police’s credibility , but I struggle to see what financial inducements the relatives of the suspect can offer which the police cannot get more from the victim car dealer .

A diagnosis patient who is demonstrably a danger to society cannot be left alone. Arguing that Dayo and nihilistijnr are the same person is not the same scale as arming yourself with juju, driving through a barrier and running people over with a car.

Personally I would say the guy first needs to be tested by a court appointed psychiatrist. He was stable enough to arrange for juju, stable enough to con and woo a dealer into handing a car to him. To me it is more a case of failed parents who deploying their black sheep's escape plan.

At the risk of sounding like defending the suspect , I hope you know that it’s only the police that can charge him to court . And it’s only when the police charge him to court you can start talking about court appointed psychiatrist.

I don’t know what evidence the police relied on before releasing him , but I want to believe the police would at least do due diligence before releasing him .

In fact, the police has a lot to gain if they charge him to court instead of releasing him. The guy and his family are poor and have absolutely nothing to offer the police to facilitate his release on grounds of insanity . The car dealer has deeper pockets to fund police to “deal” with him .

Methinks the police just don’t want to do exercise in futility by charging an obvious insane person to court knowing he would still walk anyways .

Just type “Motor Traders Insurance “ on your Google search , you will see Nigerian insurance companies who sell it.

Of course , before you allow a buyer to test drive ur car as a car dealer u should ask for their license . It will be foolishness for a dealer to give a car that’s not yet sold to someone who is not licensed to drive na

This is like all those medical condition politicians suddenly manifest when facing trial.

A guy was arrested in an attempted theft, vehiclar homicide and the police let the person go after a so called revelation that the man had a mental condition?

If that is the case the guy should have been sent straight to an asylum. You cannot pull the mentally unstable claim for grand theft and property damage and homicide and then go back home. Well at least not in a society with backward crooked cops.

So you think the relatives claimed he was mad and State CID just released him based on their unverified claim?

Even the car dealer while speaking with Punch said police investigations confirmed his psychiatric condition.

Was it not a day or two ago we were all wondering why the guy behaved like that and even suggested maybe he was on drugs because the whole crime deoesn't make sense?

Option b the family that recovered the guy should be sued. If they failed to take care of their ward then they should face the consequences of their actions. They allowed their son with mental issues to move to another state and become a danger to everyone

Baba calm down, Psychiatric hospitals dey do outpatient treatment too.

I know of someone whose adult daughter was treated at the Neuropsychatric Hospital Yaba and she was never admitted. Initially she was always taken to the hospital by her mum on her appointment days. As she was responding to treatment, it got to a point they told the mum to allow her come by herself without anybody coming with her. They just do a cab/uber for her to and fro. She got better and living a normal life now.

So it's possible the guy was an outpatient before he relapsed or stopped taking his meds.

They said the guy’s relatives claimed he was a psychiatric patient and the police investigations confirmed it to be true .

I’m guessing the guy’s relatives brought documents along with them and maybe police called the psychiatric hospital confirm it to be true .

It’s just like someone claiming their relative is a patient at the neuropsychiatric hospital Yaba with evidence and the police puts a call through to the CMD to confirm same . At that point they have no choice but to release him .

It was state CID that released him , so I believe they would’ve consulted their legal unit before releasing him

The greatest punishment he can receive is a prison sentence.

Police station is not a psychiatric home na , police have no choice but to release him.

If the police try to charge him , it will be exercise in futility . His people will get lawyer who will provide his card at psychiatric hospital and other documents confirming he’s actually a psycho . The court will throw the case out and the man would’ve wasted more money in mobilizing police and all .

As unfair as it may sound , the man should just count his losses and move on

In Nigeria the police fit even they ask you who lost money for more money to help prosecute your case.

Its a terrible thing for the car dealer. Its almost like your drunk personal driver bashing your Gwagon, or an aboki Okada rider crashing into your luxury car he is too poor to pay for anything. If you too manhandle am the thing fit turn on your head

There’s actually an insurance policy specifically designed to cover motor traders . The insurance policy will cover the vehicle while it’s in the car lot as well as when customers take it out for test drive .

The issue is Nigerians don’t really see insurance as something they will need until they suffer a loss they never imagine was possible .

As regards the police releasing the guy , this is the first time I will see police following the law ; even though the outcome no favor the complainant . Normally u can’t really charge someone who has been clinically confirmed to be mentally unstable , It’s just the way a contract entered into with a mad man is not binding under the law

I guess everyone is allowed to dream, but the reality is only few dreams come true.

There are quite a handful of ladies I know personally who are in their early to mid 30s actively looking to settle down. The problem is most of the men that have been coming their way have one or more "comma" that makes them unsuitable for marriage. The guy may have a decent job with a roof over his head, but turn out to be AS genotype while the lady is also AS. There are those who are unsuitable for marriage due to religious differences, tribal differences, etc.

Imagine having all of those factors stacked against you, only to see a decent guy who tries to plan ur future with u and u call him stingy because he's not spendthrift .
