I googled the story and confirmed that BBC and other mainstream media platform reported the case . So I guess it’s not fake news fabricated on social media .

What I’m not sure of is whether the couple are are pilgrims or immigrants living and working in Saudi . The Saudis are also not saying the exact indecent act they performed in the mosque (whether it’s kissing as claimed on social media or it’s shagging )

I just feel prison sentence would’ve been the right punishment if indeed they even shagged .

My fear is that such sentencing in far away Saudi will have serious effect in Northern Nigeria in the future . It just feels like it will give some of those sharia courts in Nigeria power to pass that kind sentence in Nigeria for anybody unfortunate to be docked in sharia courts .

This Trending story about the Bangladeshi couple that were convicted and executed by beheading in Saudi Arabia just doesn’t sit well with me .

As much as I understand they have a strict sharia law in Saudi , I just feel it’s not right executing foreigners who came for pilgrimage in your country over something as silly as a forehead kiss inside a mosque .

They didn’t even leave room for diplomacy at all , they just summarily executed the suspects like they were either planning to overthrow their government or they are the most wanted terrorists in the world .
