again, i'll revert to the traditional yoruba wedding,
obviously you can't invite people to your house and still expect them to feed themselves so you feed them. The guests from the husband's side will be fed by the husband's people. Nowadays the two families contribute together so the whole ceremony goes as one, afterall isnt the ceremony about the joining of two people and their families by proxy?

in Yoruba land, the bride's family foots most of the bill since the wedding is traditionally done at her place (traditional wedding i mean)
