My experience with watermelon in 2017 was awful... I planted half hectare then, and gray squirrel ate everything. I will be planting just 90 seed to taste the water once more. I will use manure,npk 15:15:15, potassium nitrate, fungicide and insecticide. Since it is not on commercial scale, I will only be making short video which will be available only on my IG. So I do the nursery today...

Some questions though. Why do you have to add glyphosate to 2,4d for your second spray? I think glyphosate is already a total systemic herbicide on its own.
2. It seems you planted your maize 1 per stand? Don't you think you will get a better yield if you plant 2 per stand?
3. You stated that you waited for 2 weeks or so before you planted your maize. I would rather plant immediately after ridging and spray a pre-emergence herbicide like altrazine before the soil begin to cake (though it may not be an issue where your soil is forest or virgin soil).
What do you think? I'm ready to learn more under you sir.

yes I don't heap nor ridge, just plough. This year am doing ploughing and ridging which is the best!

Can ploughing for maize be done manually?

For maize production ,understanding weed biology and pest management is very important . After your land preparation, thesame day you sow,(please spray within 24hrs) using altrazine and paraquat( mixed the 2 chemical). Thereafter you can glyphosphate herbicide to control the weeds till you harvest . please make sure your maize are in rows for easy spraying and walkway .
