Politics › Re: South-West Likely Decider In 2027 Presidential race - Nairametrics by Bluna:
Southwest will likely experience low turnout in 2027. Many people that voted in 2023 have already lost interest in this next election.

The reason Tinubu will likely be reelected is not because he is popular, but because Atiku and Obi won't contest together on a joint ticket. This would've been the only combo to unseat Tinubu and secure victory for the opposition.

There was no Fulani. The culprits are Yoruba and Igbo. This is what I've been saying for long. Fulani are not the only people responsible for kidnappings in the southwest.

Obi and Atiku are just deceiving themselves. Failure to work together as a winning team is the begining of their downfall. Both are losers.

Always unimpressed with this man's mode of dressing. You are addressed the way you are dressed. Somebody cannot just dress anyhow like agbero and expect sane people to take him serious. Fine feathers make fine birds.

The percentages differ greatly. Ronaldo 66%, Jesus Christ 93%
You are wrong! People that know Ronaldo are far less then 63% of the global population.
BTW, why are you comparing a mere mortal like Ronaldo to the Messiah (the son of God)? You are not okay.

Oga calm down small. I've met people that don't know Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, especially those men and women that don't watch football.
You should know that it is not possible for the whole world to know one person. Even Jesus Christ is still unknown to some people till today

Atiku and Obi joint ticket would have been the only combo to unseat Tinubu. Both Atiku and Obi should just say bye bye to presidency.
👇
sioniboy:
As Buhari don die, Atiku is now the biggest politician from the north. In the south, no other politician is as big as Obi (apart from the incumbent president). Imagine both of them now contesting together on a joint ticket; it will be impossible for Tinubu to defeat such a combo.

We are all disappointed in this current government. But that's not even my worry. If we should vote them out, who and who are we voting to replace them? Don't mention Obi and Atiku please. You can't use fire to quench fire.

.. this has been my biggest worry

I suggest we allow expatriates to run this country

brain54:
Westahoff really did a great selection with that team...

We had freaking quality!
Yes, I agree 💯
Even looking at the Olympics winning squad of 1996, the big players that propelled that team to success were mostly from 1994 squad. Players like Okocha, Uche Okechukwu, Oliseh, Amokachi and Amuneke made so much impact in Atlanta.
Sports › What Happened To Diego Maradona In 1994 After Playing Against Super Eagles by Bluna(op):
Diego Maradona was expelled from the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States after testing positive for five banned substances, primarily ephedrine, following Argentina's group stage match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. FIFA subsequently suspended him from all soccer events for 15 months, effectively ending his international career.

The clash was a legendary Group D encounter where Argentina defeated Nigeria 2-1. The match pitted Nigeria's debutant golden generation—featuring the likes of Sunday Oliseh, Austin "Jay-Jay" Okocha, Daniel Amokachi and Rasheed Yekini —against the veteran Argentine maestro. Though the Super Eagles struck first through Samson Siasia, Maradona's vision and experience shone through. He provided the decisive play for Argentina's equalizer and set up Claudio Caniggia for the winning goal via a clever free-kick. The game ultimately became his final international match.

⚽ The Tournament Run
Maradona arrived at the 1994 World Cup as Argentina's captain. Despite having faced legal and fitness issues leading up to the tournament, he shed a significant amount of weight and was the driving force behind Argentina's early momentum.

⚽ The Greece Match:
Argentina defeated Greece 4-0 in their opening game, with Maradona scoring a spectacular goal. During his celebration, he sprinted to a sideline television camera and yelled directly into the lens.

⚽ The Nigeria Match:
Argentina then played their second group match in Boston, defeating Nigeria 2-1. It was after this game that Maradona was selected for a routine, random doping test.

The Doping Scandal and Expulsion
Both the primary and backup analyses of his urine samples tested positive for five variants of ephedrine, which was classified as a performance-enhancing stimulant. FIFA announced the failed test shortly before Argentina's third group match against Bulgaria.

While Maradona and his representatives claimed that the stimulant was inadvertently taken as part of an over-the-counter weight loss supplement (such as a nasal decongestant), FIFA upheld the suspension.

The Aftermath
Maradona was banished from the World Cup, and left the United States to return to Argentina. His expulsion severely demoralized the Argentine squad. Without their talisman and captain, Argentina lost their final group game 2-0 to Bulgaria and were eliminated from the tournament in the Round of 16 following a 3-2 defeat by Romania.
