donborg:
Is it not the same IREV davido's Uncle Adeleke used to win the gubernatorial Election in Osun state?
If you followed the Adeleke court case very well,, it was even that Adeleke’s supreme court judgement that dealt IREV-Portal the very first serious blow.

Contrary to most belief, Peter Obi never took the IREV seriously else he would have won at the court. This is because he never asked the court to make him President rather he tacitly' admitted 'defeat' by asking the court to disqualify Tinubu and Shettima and for a new election to be done_ an impossibility that ll surely lead to chaos if implemented.
I guess Peter-Obi over-trusted the IREV-Portal actually, because he was hoping the IREV to have ALL the results clearly uploaded to it, so that he can then gather all his evidence from there., And even use it to prove that je won..
You can imagine that.
He never knew that INEC had other plans for him.
The INEC struck him badly by making the IREV-Portal totally useless to him.
He couldn't get all the results of the polling-units from the IREV (even up till this very moment)..
He cannot even use the faulty results in the IREV-Portal to establish that they were wrong results or mutilated results, because he so much trusted that all the data in the IREV are going to be the clear results that were electronically transmitted from the polling-units without any interference from anybody..
Thus, he believed that he would get all the data he needed from the IREV-Portal.
He had no other independent sources of data to back himself up...
Anyways, let us assume that he had learnt his lessons though.

I don't know if Obi took bribes from Tinubu because for him not to have asked the courts to make him the winner with more votes according to IREV is very suspicious and would have only benefited Tinubu
Going by the available results on the IREV-Portal as at this very moment, Tinubu still came first, Obi came second, Atiku came third.
That's why he knew that going that angle wouldn't favour him, and he dropped it.

And then, while analysing the IREV results properly,, there are serious proofs that there were over-voting in lots of polling-units,, INCLUDING LOTS OF POLLING-UNITS IN THE FIVE SOUTH-EASTERN STATES TOO WHERE HE WON WITH VERY HIGH MARGINS..
But then, if he had really wanted to have all those polling-units where over-voting occured to be cancelled, and fresh-elections conducted again in such polling-units, and backed himself up with the sufficient evidence in the IREV-Portal, he might have had a very good case.
Nevertheless,, the election is behind us now.

Future elections are ahead.

IREV has come to stay. In 2027 a serious Politician from perhaps the North will definitely use it to win the election against Tinubu
Let's keep watching and observing, and also learning at the same time.

The problem we should solve first is accreditation, we can handle transmission later.

Because without BVAS ONLY accreditation, issues of over voting, ballot stuffing and hijacking of election materials will still affect the outcome.

If we can make sure that only real voters are counted, I'm sure we won't mind how the result are transmitted
I agree with this.

So you get this kind knowledge?

Funny but if I may ask where were you when Labour, PDP and co where looking for lawyers to represent them in court? Let INEC make the choices the law permits them to make. What you think as what they should do, does not count
If you have the time to scroll through my topics,, I had been making topics similar to this, even before that particular controversial election.
And even before they went to the tribunal.

But the LP, PDP, and Co were so busy trying to prove something else.
And I could guess why.

They couldn't directly come out to probe the dirtiness of the entire process, because all of them did some sorts of rigging in their stronghold areas and zones.

If they probed the election fully, they would expose themselves.

Even this thing I am suggesting now,, all the political parties have already seen this and read it.. But they cannot do it. Because, they themselves are also planning to rig again in their stronghold areas and zones..

Whether you use manual or electronic transmission in an election, the outcome will always be the same as long as the appointment of an INEC chairman or REC officials is under the authority of the president according to the constitution!
Same is applicable to the judiciary!
The president is the one that chooses and appoints the CJN and the same CJN is saddled with the responsibility of selecting tribunal, appeal and supreme court judges!
How do you expect them not to be partisan?
The system is corrupt.

Even if the people there were Not put by the president,, so far they are corrupt, then all they need is a good bargain, and they are bought over.

If we must improve and go forward in a positive direction, we must clearly eradicate such areas, especially in our laws.

Let me help you people
The way forward:
-- Automate the whole voting process
The Nigerian Legislature won't even allow this, even though they know that it would go a long way to solve lots of problems, but they won't just allow it.
They would say that Nigeria is not yet advanced enough for a fully automated process.

-- No manual injection of whatsoever data into the voting machine except during the real time accreditation process.
Even the ICT-staff of INEC themselves would would input a bye-pass schedule for the sake of unforseen circumstances,, but trust me, they would rush and activate that bye-pass (whether there are any unforseen circumstances or not)

-- the voting machine should be chipped for automatic transfer and counting of votes from the voting machine into the counting device in real-time.
This would be very good, but trust the Nigerian elites, they wouldn't want any system that is smarter than them.
They want systems that they have some human controls over.

-- no online vote transmission to avoid server glitches, cyber security concerns, network issues or other excuses.
They would easily accept this one.

-- after the voting process, the voting devices should be traported immediately to a secure and fortified central location with each party represented, vote automatically counted in real-time and on live TV streaming.
Well,, I don't know whether the elites would allow this or not.
But this type of system would definitely keep all the manipulators away.

-- during counting, switch on the voting machine, bring it close to the counting machine, and it will automatically read the votes and count them within a second.
I am very very sure that the current crop of Nigerian Elites wouldn't want this type of automatic reading of results.

-- on no account should anyone know the results at the polling stations. Infact all inec field staff should be denied the privilege of knowing the results in the polling stations
Trust me, the current crop of Nigerian Elites wouldn't want this type of anonymity. They would want everything to be bare in the open.
If not, they would say that it is an avenue for the opposition to add any number of “hidden votes”,, and say that it is the machine value., And then, use such hidden values to win.

-- close all loopholes that may lead to manipulation
The loopholes are naturally not there,, it's just that the politicians, in connivance with the INEC officials, try to puncture holes where there were no holes,, and thus, making a clean system to start behaving like it is no more clean again.

-- all inec officials must adhere to vote starting and closing time
This is a good way, but then, there are some Polling-units with so many people in them. Some other times, the election device may be wasting time.

-- there should be enough machines and voters allocated to machines according to timing
This is a very good suggestion.

-- lawyers shall be hungry post election as everyone will be satisfied
If all the INEC staff adhered to the laws and rules of election, especially this past 2023, the lawyers and judges wouldn't have had much clients and customers in the Post-Election Election Petition Tribunals.

OP is on the same side as I am. Except for Yakubu or whatever his name wants to end as Humphrey Nwosu IBB used for his evil agenda, he should do this sh.t he did in the last election. The reason I wasn't concerned was that all the candidates took advantage of the porous system (Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso) all rigged at their places. So, the best rigger won the election.

This time, let us see a real election and then, we can have good people come into the game. This is just my concern. I want to see riggers (good people will still not contest in 2027) come together again, but let us see the real ([true]) winner among the riggers. When good people see that the voting system is almost perfect, they will join in 2031.

If Yakubu plays this stunt again, the curses of the masses will make him another Humphrey Nwosu.
You're very very correct.

That means rigging continue
I need you to explain why you think so..

Because the only repercussions I see here is that:
The collation of results will be wasting more time this time around, due to verifications and counter-verifications at every level of collation.

Any rigging that is recorded, and there are no checks-and-balances to identify them, then it means that it is allowed by the agents of the political parties, either by their actions, or by their negligence.

This is already embedded in the Electoral Law and already takes place.
It is embedded in the Electoral-Act quite-alright,, it is not being practiced..

For instance,, how can the verification and confirmation of the accredited voters be practiced in a situation where the party-agents of some other parties are forcefully excluded from the ward-collation-centers??

This also depends on Party agents.
This is why I am trying to urge the political parties and their party-agents to wake up and start doing more.
There are things the parties and their agents are supposed to be doing, which they are not currently doing, and it is seriously affecting them.

All in all, the way out here is to yank IReV out of the Manual Guidelines & Regulations and introduce same into the Electoral Act.
I support this one too.

However, there must be another option because someone can just take out the IReV like it happened in the last Presidential Election and chorus technical glitch, it becomes a problem.

Political parties should start educating their Party Agents.
This is the right time to even start all-over afresh to educate the political parties (all of them), on the best approach towards the Nigerian Elections.

It is time to say “Enough-Is-Enough” to all the laxity which the political parties and their agents are exhibiting.

• First time Dangote refinery buys any non-Nigerian crude.

Nigeria’s giant new oil refinery Dangote, the largest in Africa, is set to import crude from the US in the coming months, a sign of just how competitive American barrels have become in the global market.

“Trafigura Group sold 2 million barrels of WTI Midland to Dangote refinery for end-February delivery”, - said traders with knowledge of the matter.

This is the first time that the giant refinery has purchased non-Nigerian crude, traders said.

It is surprising the Makinde who looks for every flimsy and useless excuse to avoid Atiku even when the former Vice President is within his own state is suddenly looking for imaginary phone calls or text messages

For the records Atiku, was one of the first Nigerians to commiserate with the Oyo State government which Makinde heads, and people of the state over the sad incident. His well-circulated message on the 17th of January (See Time Stamp) is reproduced below:

"I wish to express my condolences to the good people and government of Oyo State over the explosion that rocked the capital city of Ibadan late yesterday night.

While the government continues to provide humanitarian support to victims of the explosion, I commiserate with the families of those who might have lost their lives and property to the explosion. -AA"
