Thank you so much for detailed advice.

Yes...all her letters go to same address.

We will also try get her name on any of the bills.

Please can you advice on how long it took to get the inspection done and the procedure...house is in Essex.

As per inspection report some surveyors offer same day service. Just google it, and contact the ones that provide services in your area. They should provide you with timings

hi guys...its very impressive how you all help each other out here. I have learnt a lot just by reading through...thank you all!

My wife is British. We are planning to make our application in a couple weeks. All other documents and requirements are met and readily available, we only need some clarifications as per accommodation. Please can you advise what documents are sufficient for accommodation as my wife lives with her mother at the moment in a 2 bed house mainly because I am not there with her yet. Please note she doesn't have any utility bills to her name in the said apartment. Her phone is pay as you go.

Would
- a letter from the landlord (her mother) stating I can live with them
- all utility bills ie water, electricity, tv licence
- birds eye view
Be sufficient

OR

Would you rather advise she goes ahead to rent an apartment for us and include just the tenancy agreement and birds eye view as bills can't yet be provided at the targeted time of application?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Letter from the landlord stating she lives with her, if she isn't paying any rent that should also be stated and that she has no tenancy agreement as she doesn't pay rents or bills. Also the letter should state you can live there without problems and living agreements unaffected. If she can be added to a bill , good . If not , it's not a biggie at all.

Also I believe her letters are addresses to that address , right?

You must include the a property inspection report . This is required when living in a shared accommodation to prove there isn't any over crowding .the report also does number/show names of people living in the accomodation

In addition , let ur wife mention the living arrangement in her cover letter if she is putting one. The key is to be as clear as possible so the person processing your application understands your situation as you may not be called for an interview. All the best

Please, after submitting my application online. Do i need to send all my documents to Sheffield from Nigeria OR VFS here in Nigeria and my wife need to send her documents to Sheffield too?

by the time you are going for your biometrics, make sure your sponsor in UK already have you documents ready. The issue is depending on the VAC centre you are using they will not take some docs from you , they will ask that it gets sent directly to Sheffield. For instance we used IKeja this FEb, they only took the TB cert and the forms from my hubby and asked that all other docs gets sent to Sheffield.
My advise is after your appointment wrong the VAC, send whatever they didn't take from you , including your docs by DHL same day to your sponsor in the UK. DHL take just takes 2 - 3 days to get to the UK. Your sponsor should the. Add those your documents to theirs and send off to SHeffield.
Don't send docs separately . HO may not be bothered to collate it.

Also about our phone logs, we don't use to talk on phone but we use Facebook chat every night and whatsapp chat too, what can we do?

Present both the whatsapp and Facebook chats as evidence. print out atleast 4 days a month (1 day each week from your Facebook chats and same for your whatsapp chats. Keep them separate , with a cover page showing whatsapp chats and Facebook chats. Explain you have printed x number of days per month and that you can provide the entire chat history which is of xxxx pages if required, you can also add screenshots if you like. .

To God be the glory!!! I got my spousal visa today!!!

Where do I start from? I have been denied 3 visiting visa, all within 1 year in the past based on some flimsy excuses. So I gave up, I applied for spousal visa in August 2015 and in November I was denied based on 2 reasons 1. We submitted 3 months payslip and bank statements instead of 6 months. Secondly, we didn't put my hubby letter of employment nor letter from employee stating his salary etc.
so we decided to appeal and got a lawyer, the lawyer insisted we should reapply and add the extra documents that the ECO may not overturn the decision because we are submitting new documents blah blah.

So we reapplied first week in December, the lawyer collected about 1000 pounds, even though reapplying was so expensive and wasn't guaranteed we just had to do it.

I just want to tell everyone going through a refusal or denial not to give up, it will happen as far as you believe in God and your documents are consistent.
What will be will be!
For everyone waiting, God will answer you sooner than you expect. God bless you all!

So excited!!!!!
@thalula @blza, am so happy for us!

Super duper ! Congratulations . What a happy ending

Hi everyone, I have a funny question to ask...lol. Is it possible to know if your visa was granted base on the package? I heard if the spousal visa is given, the package won't be flat because some books welcoming you to Uk and showing destination places will be added, so it won't just be ur passport and TB cert. How true is this?

Haha. Funny question indeed but believe me, I asked more funny ones.

The only way to know if you got ur visa is when u open your package. There isn't any booklet in it.

Hi guys, I have a question regarding spousal sponsorship.

I should be inviting my fiancé over ( hopefully husband by then) in the nearest future.
My situation is such that I will be moving in with my mum (she lives alone and has a three bedroom house) and she's currently responsible for the payment of all the bills.
I intend taking up some bills when I move in with her.
Would it suffice to present my mother's house as proof of my accommodation with her being the sole owner /mortgage payer ?

Although, I will be responsible for the payment of only a few utilities. She will still be responsible for a majority of the bills. Would that in anyway affect the chances of my eligibility for sponsorship.

I will be earning just about the threshold salary requirement, so I have that bit covered.

There isn't any problems , you will need bills in your name or atleast in joint name. See if she can add you to the council tax bill as I presume you have no tenancy agreement? .
She needs to write a letter confirming you live there, and that your wife/fiancé can also live there without your living terms affected.
The. Get the property inspection report done as you are house sharing , this will be a requirement to check there isn't any overcrowding .

Mrsbebe:
Hi Guys,

Thank You for all the good work you guys are doing here. I was lost but now am found. Please my Hubby is a UK citizen and would like to apply for a spouse visa and need your advise on the following;

1) Is it absolutely necessary for me to take the English Test as I am a graduate from a federal University in Nigeria. If Yes,where do I take the test and how much.

not quite. You can go down the exemption route if you hold a degree taught in English language that is equivalent to UK degree . See link for more info:
https://www.gov.uk/remain-in-uk-family/knowledge-of-english

OR

You can take the IETLS A1 life skills test , which can be taken at the British council in Lagos,Ibadan, Abuja, PH. Booking can be done and paid for online. Cost is £150

Shockingly the British council site in Nigeria doesn't show this test so you can use the link below to book for your test .:
http://www.ielts.org/book-a-test/find-a-test-location

My hubby is a medical dr. We choose to write the test cos of the hassle of going down the exemption route. It's up to you.

2)Can Hubby pay for the Visa Fee from The UK.

Yes, that seems to be the feasible way now with all the saga going on with the finance sector in Nigeria in terms of credit card spending. Rounding it up , here is the fee as there seem to be hidden charges visa + service charge £1100 , if you want priority processing £360.

3) Is the health surcharge a must pay to get the visa

Yes, there is no way round it + the hidden charges£655 . Your online application won't even get to the payment stage if you don't first pay for it.

4) hubby is changing jobs and moving house next month will that affect our visa application in anyway?

as per the changing jobs, there is no requirement to be in constant employment for a certain duration , apart from cat 3a which is for salaried employees working for same employer and earned same salary for the past 6 months. Other than that, requirement for a worker is to show they have earned at least £18600 gross income before tax in the past 12 months. I will advise you to read about the finance requirements and see the category your husband falls under and what proof are required. See link
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-fm-se-family-members-specified-evidence

With respect to the house move, not an issue. So far he has evidence he lives there , and that the accommodation is suitable to accommodate you or any children (if home owner, mortgage , bills. If a tenant, evidence like tenancy aggrement, letter from landlord giving consent to the extra occupants moving in, maybe council tax, if a shared property, property inspection report that shows no over crowding will be required. )

Hope to hear from you soon.

Keep up the good work.

Any advice from people who has passed through this process?

I am supa scared. My hub submitted his app on wed last week and asked to send his test docs to me . It's interesting they didn't even collect the English test . So he sent via DHL and I got then yesterday. Going to post office to post via SP for Wednesday delivery,. Just to add we paid for priority.

Just red on a forum were UKvi take decision on apps 2 days from submission.

This isn't our fault Ofcourse should they collected his docs.

The progress is still on "transferred for decision". We got the email from Sheffield on Thursday.

Please are there people who submitted their support docs after 4 days of submission. Especially those that had done priority

Can't even imagine paying such an amount 2wice

Are you still on MAT pay? They take 6 months prior to going on maternity pay this is in the appendix fm section 5.5.19
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/469692/Appendix_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement_August_2015.pdf

Contract of employment of course wouldn't match any payrises or promotions this is why you need a letter from your employer confirming certain points. If you ctrl F on that document I gave the link for search maternity, it will bring every paragraph relating to your own case.

Please note it is a choice to add the employment contract however it proves your length with your employer and the more evidence you can supply is better for them to make a decision on your application

Many thanks. No I am no longer on mat leave. Returned to work in Dec. After 5 months mat leave. I have read the doc (thanks ) but as Its 2 months since I returned, not really sure how they would want to calculate the 6 months. Hence I am producing 12 months payslip , then they can choose how to calculate the 6 months. Which ever way though I quite exceed the threshold so not worried.

I will add contracts , whatever will bring hubby here asap , I am up for it. Last saw him a week ago and missing him aloottt

Yes for the contract, and 1yr payslips. Defo include them. Is the pay diff cz of mat leave? If so just state that briefly on your cover letter. Other docs u need u mean just for employment n finances? Cz theres a looOng list am sure mentioned already on this thread.

For finance just make sure u include things like type of job contract, annual pay n how long u've been paid the current pay plus how long have u been working there.

Many thanks for your response
I was promoted after working with them for 1 year, have done my current role for 3 years and have yearly salary increments. This happens automatically so don't have a letter to back it up. Hence I said my current salary isn't what I am on now cos I am paid higher.

Yea, I know there are eternal list of documents to provide.

But I just wonder the point in providing my contracts. That means I have to provide 2 contracts covering my previous and current role with this job. And the salary differences due to yearly increases. That's plenty more explanations . I thought providing P60 certainly shows how long I have worked and yearly earnings, payslips + with corresponding bank statements authenticates the income, letter from employer confirming period of employment and earnings will suffice.

If the contract is the deal breaker , I will surely include it. But just not feeling that. I am trying to avoid any confusion.
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by blza: 1:41am On Feb 07, 2016
I am gathering my documents as many as I can find.
Do I need to include my employment contract?

For my work

I have employer letter
1 year payslip
Corresponding bank statements (I year)
P60 - 2012,2013,2014,2015 (this is all from my current employer)

I am supplying a year worth of payslip and statement so they choose how they want to calculate the financial requirement. I was on mat leave for 6 months even though my mat pay still exceeded the threshold. Just thought its best to produce 1 year . Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Am I missing anything please , and should I add the contract . the salary on the contract isn't what I'm on now so not sure if that's needed.

Another thing , we use online payslip . Does anyone know any issues surrounding this. I got the payroll manager to stamp all the copies. Do I need any thing else?

Interviews:

I have read a few places of interview of the application on the day of submission and biometrics. Please what is the interview about

Can I ask please, does the applicant need to attend the VAC with the English test result.

Also after submission how long should I wait before sending docs to Sheffield.

I have seen different address for Sheffield. Can someone please let me have the correct address.

Do I have to include the original of my passport or just a photocopy. If a copy. Do I need to have that countersigned by a solicitor or something.

Apologies for the plenty question

We are in the process of completing our application form and at the stage of NHS surcharge . The charge has come up as 3080usd. Can't work out why.

UKVI are currently closed. And refreshing the page still takes us back to the same amount. I understand there is 3 hours time frame to make the payment. Will the application be reset after the 3 hours giving us the option to re do the IHS charge.

Any ideas
