Health / Urgent Help- Cataract Surgery In Lagos by blza: 8:14am On Nov 11, 2021 |
Hello My grand mum of 76 need to have urgent cataract surgery. Can you please give me any recommendations for good hospitals in Lagos. She live down the eastern region and we were previously referred to Guinness eye centre in onitsha with claims it’s the best place for the surgery in Nigeria. The place is a slum, not water , no lights , you hardly see a doctor. After 2 visits with same horrid experience . We have decided to look for a location in Lagos where we also have family members she can stay with. Please Kindly suggest hospitals in Lagos with experience you have had and approx cost. Any contact number will be useful too. Many thanks From your fellow Nigerian. |

ekpotek: Ekpoetek no doubt you give great advice on here. But What exactly is the point with the bit in bold? Completely unnecessary. The poster is the sponsor and should be the one to prove he has sufficient funds. The Mum has been to the UK before. I struggle to see sense with some of these refusal. |

edmasta01: You are correct to state she is unemployed . Infact I really can’t fault hiw well you explained that part. I will suggest you still include your current account . It goes with your payslips. Don’t let them catch you out there. Just either move funds from your savings to the current or if you will be paid anytime soon , wait for that to go in and reprint. Just make sure the funds in your current is also sufficient to cover the visit. Send in latest statement and address the money matters in your letter of invitation/sponsorship. As per that budget. Mehn crash it. It’s too high. £1500 max is sufficient did 4 week trip including travel and subsistence. Don’t go into all those details . |

Endlessgrace: Where do you get this from? There are everyday savings account which you can just withdraw funds from. Not all savings accounts are ISA . Also the poster or the ECO didn’t say the account is an isa. that ECO is a nutter and have drawn up a very shabby refusal letter that doesn’t really pin point the actual reason for refusal. Yes current account is £68 debit but the savings account counters that, and shows evidence of sufficient funds. If the ECO is refusing on the grounds that the current is in debit , then should make it clearer. These people need to know they are providing a service. And owes a paying customer some decent explanation when refusing an application. I will encourage you to reapply. Don’t move any money to ur mum as you were advised here other that the usual upkeep money you send. You might want to wait for your pay (salary) to clear inyo your acc and you print your statement on the sand day. If you fancy moving money from ur savings to current abc then printing the statement cool. But I wouldn’t do that. Make sure you address this shabby refusal. The funds in your savings should have been considered and it’s not like it wasn’t seen. They only thing I will say is that Hume budget the trip is quite high. Half of that is very sufficient budget for that trip. All the best when you apply . |

monchat: Haba, this your advice just knocked me to sleep. You have just confused this poster and screwed his/her thinking big time. Ok TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER: Let me make it simple... IGNORE ALL YOU JUST READ ABOVE. . No offence meant Monchat. Based on your explanation, the husband holds a settled status. So irrespective of them working part-time/schooling etc. it doesn’t count as negative. Let them send and invitation letter to the mum clearly stating reason for visit, if they cannot sponsor due to lack of funds, they should clearly state they will be accommodating her for the duration of stay. The mother who is visiting can paytowards the visit to cover flight with some extra pocket money for the period of stay so she needs to produce her finance papers and evidence of retirement etc. The application form is pretty clear when completing the part of Who is paying for visit and how much money the visit will cost the applicant. A cover letter or the additional information section of the form can also be used to make the situation even clearer. I can guarantee you a refusal if that retiree ventures the tourist standalone application route . There are quite a few of this sort of application on here. You can see docs they supplied for guidance. If not post your list of docs here , the extremely helpful people on this forum will guide you. |

We intend to do the face to face submission (priority) . Please I need advice on: 1; The earliest we can do face to face application 2; The latest we can do face to face application 3; The earliest and we can d postal application 4; The latest we can do postal application. My husband arrived UK on March 27 2016 His visa is expires 18 Nov 2018. I want to start early to ensure we get all the stuff needed on time. I also hear the priority appointment can be difficult to get. Look forward to your responses. Thank you. |

Julify13: If her purpose of visit was family visit .. then Nothing much to worry about. Remember one crucial point, she did not breach the terms of her visa. The maximum entry period is 6 months (180 days) and she didn’t breach that. Just mention on a cover letter or in the additional information section of the form that even though in her last application , it was stated she will be in the UK for 2 weeks but stays for xyz period which is still within her allowed entry period . It is usually not a big deal to over stay the stated period on the application. It’s May only become an issue or raise red flags if someone claim to be working or have a business/field employed and have taken short leave to travel for a specific short period and then end up staying for months. It raises questions on the credibility of the claimed job/business. Or people going on med treatments, training ,conference. Even at that once it’s addressed in the next application it shouldn’t cause a problem. Apply for 2 years visa if you like. In my own case ,during my mum’s last application we stated she was going to stay for 6 weeks. She stayed for 4months 3 weeks. On her recent app, I just mentioned on her form but emphasised she didn’t breach her terms. Her 2 year visa was issued within 2 working days. So please don’t panic . 2 Likes |

olystic: I choose to reply to your comment directly rather than the comment that really raised my eyebrows. Can I assure you, YOU DO NOT NEED “a landed property” in your country of legal residence to obtain a visa. It shocks me how people mis interpret “home ties”. Yes assets is classed as ties. But a genuine, verifiable, decent paying job is very much a tie!!!! Likewise being a student is a tie. These guys processing these visa use ALOT of common sense and can see through cooked up stories and lies.. which lead to many refusals. It is not difficult to spot lies if your brain is switched on... usually very evident when you marry up various information the applicant has presented. So poster the Key thing for a successful application in your case are: 1. Your work - is this job a genuine job, what evidence do you have to show you are and have been with that company- these can be ( contract of employment/offer letter, letter from you employer on company headed paper with contact details for any verification - [this letter should state your start date and staff type, it should clearly state your gross annual salary , your job title, and the period of approved leave if possible ]. payslips, salary account that shows the exact net salary figures on Your payslip, evidence of other benefits from this job and previous jobs - this can be pension contributions etc..). 2. Your savings - don’t be carrried away by the statement balance. Yes it’s important . But content of that statement is so crucial . You stated the money you have are all saving from your current work. That’s great as it sounds , but they will look at your stated monthly outgoings (which you should be carful with) and with that work out what’s left and how that adds up to the savings you have over time. The lines on your statement is important , any deposits that may raise eye brows should be addressed on a cover letter or in the additional information section. Bank statement is crucial cos it really summarises all the stories you are telling. and tells a lot about your quality of life and how you survive. unfortunately there is only much I can write down as my finger hurts. But this is all common sense. 3. Purpose of travel/itinerary- I must first say you have chosen a good time to travel. That’s the heart of summer which makes sense. So you need to state why are you going to uk, tourism? Cool... so you now need to justify to the ECO why you have chosen to travel to UK of all countries that attract tourists. This will be evident on the things you want to do in the UK, the exact places you want to visit, cost of visiting those places if any. You need a break down of ALL the things you intend doing during your visit considering you have no friends/relative ? Clearly stating the date you will be arriving and leaving back to your place of residence/work. 4. Place of stay - you have stated places you are visiting , where you stay is important. It needs to be an accommodation close to good transport links to the places you are visiting and should be with miles to area to some extent. again all common sense. 5. Total cost of the trip- it needs to all add up considering cost of flight, travel and subsistence whilst in UK, plus some few extras). This will be weighed up against your savings/income. But if you have been saving to give yourself a once in a lifetime treat , why not!. 6. it’s your first application, you know your true circumstances more that anyone here. Visa applications are all about you doing a self check and be honest to your self , then you can tell if you truly stand a chance. producing relevant documents to back up all information you supply in your application and docs to prove you a genuine visitor, love your Job and love Your living in Your country of residence. They key is honesty, supplying required information and genuine docs to back it up. It brings everything to the table. You can not get a visa on lies unless you are a a prolific liar, even at that. On this forum alone you have stated 3 different salaries that you earn. Hmmm my dear if Your Story isn’t straight don’t waste your money. Make sure you include a cover letter and properly explain. Your circumstances ( what your work entails, your savings, this trip and plans. Make emphasis on returning and why) as per previous refusals, it shouldn’t discourage you. I don’t know what information you have been presenting to them. And mix up of information is a refusal and you can hardly get another visa from the country or country union. All schengen states share information. Sorry for the longggg post. All the best. 7 Likes |

teeewai: Sorry for your refusal. This is a clear case of a refusal that could have been avoided should unnecessary documents not have been submitted. I know a lot of people on this forum promote submission of irrelevant documents all in the name of showing ties or submitting an air tight application. Forgetting you are also exposing the application to further scrutiny. I don’t understand why a working and financial stable UK resident Who is inviting and fully sponsoring a retired immediate parent to the UK should be submitting bank statements of the parent. If the child resident in the UK is the sole sponsor covering all expenses including accommodation. The onus is on the UK sponsor to provide evidence of sufficient funds for this trip( bank statements &payslip/bank statement with salary entries). A utility bill for proof of address & then an invitation letter. The add sponsorship undertaking (SU07) if you do fancy , big I think it’s necessary. It’s that simple. anysupporting doc around purpose of visit can be included The only doc the retired parent should submit is pension authority. This single doc contains all the relevant details including the pension amount. Well in your case. You need to resubmit all docs that was included in the last application that was denied. Then add cover letter for clarifications . If your latest bank statement is over 28 days old, add a recent one. I will redo the invitation letter and address some concerns on there if need be. All the best. |

Baywood: your docs are good. Just make sure the statement you are supplying have salary entries that tallies with the net figures on the individual payslips supplied. Also make sure your friend inviting you writes a well sesnsible reason why he is inviting you . describing your relationship and how long you have known each other should be mentioned. You should also address your relationship with him on your cover letter aiming at showing keenness towards meeting your best mate and having a good time with him (Infact that's should be the tone on both letters written by you two).concentrating less on visiting the UK and be very emphatic about having a job you enjoy that you are going back to. . If you have anything to show both having a good time(pics) that's not bad to add.. also any evidence of communication will be good to add. If you haven't got these , don't worry at all as they are no deal breakers. Wish you the best. 1 Like |

Baywood: I think it might be best for you pay for your trip (sponsor) especially if you work. If your boss decides to give you money towards the trip why not. But the less complicated and eyebrow raising stories in your application the better. It makes you application take a different shape compared to being sponsored. I am not ruling out that a working young adult can't be sponsored (it really depends on the circumstance). However if you have a fantastic boss who what's to sponsor your trip, you can add him as a co-sponsor but he should be ready to provide a letter explaining why he is doing that and also include his work/business documents , proof of earnings/bank statements. If he/she can't do this , don't think they will buy the story. If you have a brother in the U.K. Who is inviting and accommodating you, I will suggest you make it plain an simple ... sponsor your self. |
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by blza: 5:15am On Sep 30, 2017 |
Just in case it helps anyone. I invited few family members to UK recently as I find it a lot easier than traveling back due to having very young child. So this time, invited my younger sister. she has a job , which pays her just under 150k. To make matters worse, about 40% of the salary is always owed for months before it's paid which makes her take home under 100k . I knew her income will be the "k leg" for that application. Considering her outgoings in a month is about. 70-80% of her income. She gets some pocket money from fiancé. which is another explanation for ECO. I was still bent on not totally sponsoring the trip. So I invited her for a few days and clearly stated on my letter that she will go back and back to her job at the end of her stay. And that we will accommodate her during her day. I included a copy of my passport and water/electricity bill . So my sister was down as the sponsor. Not because I can't easily afford it , but cos I think it makes sense that a responsible adult that has a job pays for their flight at least (there are cheap flights) and then have some pocket money to spare. so we put down the cost of trip as £800. Wrote a cover letter to address the short payments in months. and also clearly stated that finance also gives regular financial support. (Didn't add any doc from the fiancé cos it's irrelevant) So in summary , she submitted ; her passport, payslips , letter from employer, salary account, personal account, electricity bill in her landlords name. I got a call from ECA to discuss the application, during which he asked who is sponsoring the trip which I clarified that she will pay for her flight because she works and I will fully care for her when she is here. " I went on oo,cos that's my opportunity to clear things up. So after that call , 1 month passed no response and another month passed, then another month ..... I even wasted my hard earned money phoning the clueless help line. I then decided to write to my MP to help. Visit visa taking longer than spouse visa causes great concern. Also at no point did we receive an email stating it will take long. We just got the standard 15 day processing email. My MP kindly wrote to UKVI to query the delay. If that helped or not .. me don't know. But she got a response after 10 days. Picked up her passport with visa in it. Very pleased with the outcome. To those still waiting you will get your good news soon. What I have learnt with visa applications is to put urself in the position of ECO and produce all relevant docs, and address any issues on a cover letter . Bearing in mind you don't attend interviews so that the only opportunity you have. Honesty also is the key cos it just makes all the stories you tell to add up sensibly. Make I go prepare to receive my little sisi baby . Have missed her a lot!!! She is here next weekend. So excited. 8 Likes |

Baba1010: Your docs are perfect . Your statement of account is also good. You can reduce the amount budgeted for the trip to £1.5k . It's is more than enough since you are accommodating him. It's is important you add your banks statement that shows your salary entries which tallies with your payslip. The SU07 is fine you can add it , you also need utility bill to back that up. You need nothing more . As per advisecyou got here Don't explain your financial circumstance unless you are not in active employment in which case you should not even be thinking to sponsor a trip.. All the evidence of relationship stuff is abit over top... it's ur retired parent applying for just a visit visa!!!, he has also been to the UK. Before. My mum who is also retired doesn't even add bank statements. Just pension authority and she has never had issues with visas!. Having said that it shouldn't discourage you from adding his bank statements since you have it. All the best. |

ekpotek: I do not believe an applicant being fully sponsored needs to prove they have sufficient funds to fund the trip. A lot of common sense needs to be applied when making visa applications in general. For young/younger people in active employment, there is an instant red flag if their trip is being sponsored (paid for by the invitee). In this instance, it is important for the young person in active employment or business to show their invome [UKVI class this as the main tie in their country of residence and then family ties (marriage)]. general reason being that a younger person is likely to become an overstayer as they are prone to seek for "greener pastures". Now if the young person who is in employment/business has a very low income and very low savings... the ECO becomes more weary. This doesn't mean it's an auto refusal. ECO also puts into consideration relationship to the person invitee, purpose of that invitation , their status in the U.K., financial circumstances in the U.K. Someone on a low income or relying on public funds is not the ideal sponsor. Application for an elderly/retiree being fully sponsored is treated Differently. How they are related to the UK sponsor also matters a lot and of course the financial status of the sponsor comes into play. The onus is on the sponsor to ensure there is appropriate funds/evidence in support of the application. The elderly doesn't need to supply any finance documentations as evidence. |

shugachris: You kidding me? What have you done about it? The UKVI published response time on visit visa applications is a maximum of 60 working days. If you submitted on 4th April then UKVI must have made a decision on your application by 29th June. Yours is way beyond that. I'm not sure what actions you have taken, but you need to push this , contact the help line and insist this gets escalated and ask that UKVI contacts you with an update on your application. If you are visiting a family member in the UK, ask them to contact the home office. UKVI service standard is ridiculous especially towards certain 3rd world countries. I thought changes are made to a process for improved service and not for degraded level of service. Be mindful. I just hope they haven't misplaced your application . |

expertman: There is no way she can reach the entry clearance assistance that must have made that call. they usually leave a message to advise that someone will call back. Unfortunately they can't tell when they will call. And with the current delays, it may take a few days. Their procedure is 3 attempts before making a decision. Home office staff are well aware that answering mobile phones isn't one of those things you can easily do when you are at work. You sister just needs the phone in her back pocket and vibrate switched on. With my experience, I missed their all the first time and they called back after 2 days. |

Then a letter from employer. As per balance on the account anything around £2k - 2 £2.5k , slightly more is ok. Which is why stated that a stable job is the key cos they will see a trend of regular income |

It's unreal that UK visit visa is taking several weeks to come out . When I invited my Mum , a standard application took 3 days to come out. I have just invited my sister and she submitted her application at TLS VI on 21st June. We got the messages from TLS to advise her application is with UKVI. After 2 weeks(10 working days ) got email from UKVI that they have received the app and preparing for consideration. Then I got a missed call from home office wanting to speak to me, they left a voice mail that they will call back which they did. (Basically confirming about the application etc). I was then told we will get a decision this week or next. I did question why it will get into next week considering it's her week of travel and obviously past the 15days response time advertised. I was told we will hear back this week or next but can't give me ant further information. which is fair enough as the guy was pretty lovely on the phone. I just feel processing times are hitting worst levels because they have introduced priority service which you can pay for and use if you need it quick . Also with brexit and EU nationals advised to apply for settled status befor Brexit deadline or face going through the UK immigration route, there are huge amount of applications coming through to Sheffield. Also considering that they have moved visa processing for several countries to Sheffield. There is only much these guys can do. Just hope we hear something tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Very frustrating wait . |

Please help. My sister wants to come to the UK with her 3 young children. I am trying to help with the online application. I am completing the standard visitor application form on https://visas-immigration.service.gov.uk/product/uk-visit-visa However, there is no link to set the mother as main applicant and then link the children application. Do I have to fill a Seperare form for each child ? If yes, how will they be linked since they are travelling together. Also on the form it asks a lot questions that is irrelevant if the person is a child. E.g., how much do you spend monthly. It doesn't accept 0? Also if I am completing separate forms, the questions that asks the cost of travel, should I just enter the total cost for all of them, rather than trying to split it. Same also applies to the amount of money the sponsor is contributing towards the travel. Many thanks for your help |
