Romance / Re: Why do many ladies prefer a salary earner to a budding entrepreneur? by bnanzip(m): 5:01pm On Jan 01, 2016
Toks2008:
If you ask any lady to choose between a salary earner or an entrepreneur i guess many will gladly go for the latter.

Yes most ladies will gladly settle for an established and successful entrepreneur but will prefer a man that earns a salary to a BUDDING entrepreneur aiming to make success of his career?

How amazing is the fact that many ladies would rather prefer a butterfly to a caterpillar.

It is amazing how an average Nigerian lady will go all out to kill the zeal of a young and promising entrepreneur simply because of the fear of the unseen, she will advice him to take up a job just because she is more interested in having the assurance that there is a regular in-flow of cash either for her selfish gains or for the sake of the children.

Ok I guess you will be saying in your mind ”this guy don come again” so do me this favor and lets do this real life testing..

If you are a guy who is still searching for job simply call your lady on the phone and tell her “honey wow! guess what? I have gotten a business idea I want to start” and please observe her response.

Wait for another week and call her again but this time say “Honey you won’t believe I got a job” and also observe her response.

And for those who are already working, simply call your lady and tell her “honey I have decided to quit my job to start my personal business” ..i am almost certain you are in for a long sermon on why you should not.

Some ladies are even kind enough to ask you to get a job first then probably raise the money for the business as though they are so certain that all the money you earn monthly from the hopeful job will be saved for your intending business and unfortunately by the time you start a job
you intend spending just few years, you will wake up after 20years to discover you are still stuck up in same job because the employers we have are pretty smart enough not to allow you space for yourself and you will even have to lie in order to attend an interview for another job offer.

Please don’t get it twisted…as a man, there is absolutely nothing wrong in taking up a job if that is what rocks your boat but I am simply laying emphases on some Nigerian ladies who lack vision, those who are mediocre and those who just believe that getting by is more important in life than attaining a potential maximum IN YOUR CHOSEN CAREER.

Our ladies must understand that just as we have men who are ok with a paid jobs and depend on the employer to gain promotion and more take home pay,we also have men who are visionary, men who would rather want to be an employer of labor rather than be an employee, men who will stop at nothing to achieve their dreams and men who will later become the Dangotes and bill gates of today and eventually become a owner of a company many see today as well established and many ladies will even pray and fast for their men to be employed there.

This is my point ladies…the choice remains yours but please do not stress our men who are visionary, determined and result oriented. Allow them pursue their dreams.Get a life for yourself, get financially independent and allow this man space to actualize his dreams.

My candid view.

Guy you make sense well well

Nairaland / General / Why Nigerians And Africans Are Disrespected In The World by bnanzip(m): 9:00am On Nov 19, 2015
Recently many of us criticised the media and public condemnation lob sidedness in the reportage of terrorist activities in Nigeria and other African countries as compared to developed nations in the wake of #ParisAttack.

After a careful analysis, I realised that Africans are generally pathetic in their nature in terms of public conduct and dignity of human person. I am not saying that biasness is a good thing but I
observed that our public conduct on Facebook, twitter, Google+ and etc is what portrays our low respect for human life.

In #ParisAttack it was reported that about 130 people were massacred but we never saw the social media floated with horrible
photos and images of dead persons. They dignify even the dead ones but we don't.
They mourn their tragedy by posting goodwill messages, prayers, beautiful flowers and they go to the scene just to
present flowers and comforting poems to the victims and families but we rush to the blast or accident scenes to take pictures of
horrible scary human flesh and corpses scattered by the blast or accident to share on social media without consent, we post
inciting statements on social media instead of prayers and beautiful and comforting
poems.

I don't think you will be happy if anybody post your naked dead body on Facebook in the name of mourning, this is rather an
insult to your human person. No religion permit molestation of the dead and we can publicise the tragedy to attract sympathy
across the globe even without exposing their body to the world, they deserve to be dignified and respected.

Every woman should be wise and what is wrong in going to see your doctor? We love cheap things and cheap things will put us into trouble.
For the fact that garlic is hot to taste on the lips does not mean is good for treating infections. In fact you are adding more harm to yourself by doing that.

The Chairman of Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission, Mr. Elias Mbam, said on Wednesday that each senator earns a yearly sum of N506, 600, per annum, as wardrobe allowance.

Mbam, who paid a courtesy visit to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in his office, said wardrobe allowance was designed for public officers in order to assist them to dress properly. He said the money, which was 25 per cent of their basic salaries, did not include housing and other allowances.

He said, “It is 25 per cent of the basic salary for senators and if you apply that, every senator will receive N506, 600 per annum. House of Representatives members receive less but I don’t have the figure. It is less than that. “Certainly there are other allowances. There is utility allowance, there is Housing, there is entertainment allowance and at the end of the service, there is severance allowance.”

Religion / Hospitals Urge Muslims To Donate Organs As Ramadan Nears by bnanzip(m): 11:01am On Jun 17, 2015
Hospitals in the West Midlands are urging Muslims to consider donating their organs for patients waiting for transplants. Muslims needing an organ donation, such as a new kidney or liver, wait on average a year longer than non-Muslims. This is due to a lack of donors coming forward from a matching ethnic background.
As Ramadan begins, doctors are urging Muslims to consider allowing their organs to be used after their death.

South Asia
There are just under three million Muslims in Britain, most of them from a South Asian background. Migrants from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh have tended to settle in major towns and cities - including Birmingham, where more than 21% of the population is Muslim. While across Britain, Muslim patients wait on average a year longer than non-Muslims, the wait in Birmingham can be even longer.

According to consultant nephrologist Dr Adnan Sharif the wait here can take four or even five years. Dr Sharif oversees patients receiving regular dialysis on the renal ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the city. "Without a doubt our Muslim patients will spend a lot longer time on dialysis," he said. "Some of our Muslim patients will die while they're actively on the waiting list because they've not received a kidney transplant. that number, in my opinion, appears to be growing."

Question of faith
The reason for the lack of suitable ethnic donors is uncertainty over whether Islam condemns or condones the practice of organ donation. There is much confusion, in part because there is nothing in the Koran which can be referred to, and because scholars have differing opinions. There are two types of organ donation: live donations, where one living person donates an organ to another, and donations from the bodies of the deceased to living recipients. Dr Yasser Mustapha visits mosques to talk to worshippers about organ donation, and to try to encourage them to carry a special card which signifies the individual will donate their organs after death.

Politics / African Union Debates On The Use Of Single Currency by bnanzip(m): 1:58pm On Jun 12, 2015
The Africa Union is mooting the idea to adopt a single currency as part of the Agenda 2063 roadmap worked out by the organization, Anthony Mothae Maruping, AU Commissioner for Economic Affairs, said on Thursday.

The aim is to connect Africa through world class infrastructure, with a concerted push to finance and implement major projects, Maruping said on the sidelines of the 25th AU Summit taking place in Johannesburg. African central bank governors have already met and deliberated on the establishment of a African monetary fund, but this will be the end result of the Agenda 2063, Maruping said.

Leaders of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi have already signed a protocol in the Ugandan capital of Kampala for the adoption of a common currency in 10 years, said Maruping. Although many economists and experts concur that the ambitious programme of a African single currency was achievable, the lack of clarity surrounding the issue remains a problem. The Payment Systems Steering Committee of the Southern African Development Community has also proposed a system to facilitate cross-border payment and settlement.

This system would allow the settlement of payment transactions in a central location on the basis of a single currency. This model system will initially be tested on the current common Monetary Area countries that use the South African rand. “We now have the framework required to unlock the promise of integration, and things are happening on the ground,” Maruping told Xinhua.

As part of the Agenda 2063, Maruping said, AU also moots the idea of launching a Common Africa Passport to boost the integration of all Africans. With the introduction of a common passport in Africa, “We’ll create a common identity for all African,” Maruping said, adding that the common passport would also make it easier for Africans to travel across the continent without restrictions. According to Maruping, the AU has also set the goal of making peace a reality for all the African peoples and ending all wars by 2017.

Health / Ghanaians Used For Trial Of Ebola Vaccines With Reward Of Mobile Phone And $5 by bnanzip(m): 4:30pm On Jun 11, 2015
Government suspends trial by Western pharmaceutical firms, which paid volunteers a mobile phone and about $5 each.

Ghana has suspended a trial for an Ebola vaccine after complaints that locals were being needlessly used as "guinea pigs" in a country currently free of the deadly disease. A spokesman for the West African nation's health minister told a local radio station on Wednesday that many Ghanaians had contacted the official expressing their disinterest in the project.

The country had agreed to join other countries in hosting trials to test the safety and effects of two experimental vaccines against a virus that has killed more than 11,150 people in the region.
Phase 1 safety tests for one vaccine, developed by US pharmaceutical giant Johnson and Johnson and Denmark's Bavarian Nordic in the southeastern Volta region, gave volunteers a mobile phone and nearly $5 each. 'Unnecessary experiment' But faced with mounting opposition to the trial, Health Minister Alex Segbefia, who is currently out of the country, decided to suspend the tests, his spokesman Tony Goodman told Citi FM radio.

"The minister has got a lot of calls from numerous Ghanaians saying that they are not interested in any trial," he said Wednesday. "So he said... the trial should be suspended until he returns to look at the issues."
Leaders of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Volta region said the trial was a "needless experiment". "We have cases of malaria, cholera and HIV/AIDS among others.
We need vaccines or remedies for these diseases," they said in a statement. "Why should a country that is not threatened by Ebola risk the lives of its citizens for an unnecessary experiment? "We would be grateful if the experiment is cancelled completely to prevent the use of innocent Voltarians as guinea pigs."
There is no licensed treatment or vaccine for Ebola and the World Health Organisation has endorsed rushing potential ones through trials to try to halt the epidemic. So far, two vaccines that are in their most advanced stages of development appear to be safe, the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said in March. The Ebola outbreak that flared up in December 2013 is the worst since the deadly virus was first discovered in 1976.

Fashion / Meet The Man Who Wants To Turn His Face To That Of A Woman by bnanzip(m): 9:37pm On Jun 01, 2015
On Sunday night it was revealed that, Bruce Jenner had planned to go through facial feminization surgery.
Kourtney Kardashian asks her sisters Kim and Khloe, "'Have you guys talked to Bruce? Did you hear he's having a surgery this week?'" Khloe Kardashian, who visited Jenner, 65, in his Malibu home during the show-'Keeping Up With the Kardashians', also commented on the surgeries and his transition, saying, "So many things are changing, but my love and respect for Bruce, that will never go away."
The episode also got a peak into Jenner's new home, equipped with a new wardrobe for his transition. This revelation on Sunday's show follows the E! special earlier in the month, "About Bruce," where the former Olympian explained the future surgeries to his kids: Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall.
"It's a lot of work, you do it in stages," he said, citing changes to his forehead and jaw, among other things. Kourtney brought up the question of when Bruce would fully become a woman, like does he just "pick a day, like, 'This is the day I'm going to just wear this stuff," referring to women's clothes.
Kim followed that up by asking whether Jenner had any surgery planned to fully make him a woman. "Oh, the little thing down there?" he candidly responded.
"That's kind of the last thing you can do," Jenner said, adding that he did not have a plan to have sex change surgery at the moment of the taping a few months back.

Nairaland / General / US Mathematician John Nash, Has Died In A Car Crash With His Wife by bnanzip(m): 8:08pm On May 24, 2015
Nash, 86, and his 82-year-old wife Alicia were killed when their taxi crashed in New Jersey, they said. The mathematician is renowned for his work in game theory, winning the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994. His breakthroughs in maths - and his struggles with schizophrenia - were the focus of the 2001 film. Russell Crowe, who played him, tweeted: "Stunned... My heart goes out to John & Alicia & family. An amazing partnership. Beautiful minds, beautiful hearts." The film's director, Ron Howard, also tweeted his tribute to the "brilliant" John Nash and his "remarkable" wife. Alicia Nash helped care for her husband, and the two later became prominent mental health advocates. The two were thrown from their vehicle, police said. Media reports said the couple may not have been wearing seatbelts when they crashed. Their taxi driver, and a passenger in another car, were also injured. 'Genius' Born in Bluefield, West Virginia, Nash first studied in Pittsburgh before moving to Princeton. His recommendation letter contained just one line: "This man is a genius." Nash married Alicia Larde in 1957, after publishing some of his breakthrough works. But he developed severe schizophrenia soon after, and Alicia had him committed for psychiatric care several times. The couple divorced in 1962.
