Samtolly4JESUS: First list has been released for a while now......Thanks for this. But the school's eportal page is telling me 'the compilation of admission list is yet to start'. I tried checking for one of my people who is very eager to know her admission status. Please I need clarification |

Congratulations ALICIAKEYS. Despite the fact that I pose alots of challenging comments you logically find a way out to defend yourself. It is really a wonderful exercise to develop our intellect and challenge our abilities. boay: You are looking at free education as the same with free degree. I believe every student STUDY HARD to excel academically. The example you gave is jejune-like and not possible. In free education, government may pay for the tution but government cant remove studying hard to progress in school. Free education is presenting education as free for all it is not the same as 'degree is free for all' as you claimed |

Aliciakeys: That is where the term "free" is not understood to its' fullness, free tertiary education should mean free tuition fees, accommodation, feeding and monthly stipends. Facing facts, one in such comfort zone, tends to relax to the extent that he or she may even fail to realize a drop in grades.This is defintely far from the truth, for the fact that my parents are not the one bearing the burden of my education that does mean students will be indolent. We all know that students struggle to excel academically no matter who is bearing the burden of their education. |

Also for those against free education in Nigeria, I am a student and my parent dont struggle too hard to pay my tuition fee but that does not mean I am the one bearing the burden of my education. Those against free education look at the word 'free' as if I will only enroll as a student and do nothing. As a student in Nigeria I still spend hours late in the night studying and do my assignments. So free education is not without any input, let us get right the meaning of the word 'free' in this context |

For those against free education in Nigeria, looking at the hike in tution fee in our fedral universities and considering the level of poverty with a mind open to the fact that our dear country cannot develop without qualitative education, then how many Nigerians can avoid tertiary education? |

I have read through the different post and I discover that some are jumping into hasty conclusion and generalisation due to the fact that they are not aware of some things. I am from Kwara state. I am a Yoruba man of the Igbomina part of Yoruba. Kogi and Kwara state are both 'confused' states due to the wishy washy geo political zoning of Nigeria. I will focus more on Kwara state. The state capital Ilorin has a Yoruba origin through Afonja but Yoruba seems to have lost their stand after Afonja was defeated by Alimi. This account for why we have an Emir in Ilorin. Most other parts of Kwara are the Yorubas called the Igbominas. For people who are conversant with Yoruba history, the Igbomina are one of the most significant part of Yoruba with a very large proportion in Kwara state (and some in Osun). In fact Omu Aran, one of the major towns in Kwara is well known to be a major part to the origin of Yoruba (Igbomina) . If at all Nigeria will divide Kwara and Kogi will also divide immediately but may God help us and allow the best to happen. I will be back.... |

This is a welcomed development. But it seems the good decision lack serious scrutiny and research which may cripple its effectiveness. This is because the part of Nigeria contributing immersely to the high illiteracy in the country are the North states. Or can it be that world bank is also scared of Boko Haram?. Anyway it is good. |

@ poster, you are right. I'm from Kwara state and have heard of this incident repeating itself. Though you have exposed the truth, but a 'better truth' is that our people are fools. Please sorry for this. Even an insane person will run away from a danger that is not as obvious as that. About 2-3 year ago during the usual 'charity' by the Sarakis a fence collapse and kill scores of people. As a professional in the construction industry, looking critically at the nature of the fence and the nature of collapse of such structure a fence should not just collapse and kill scores of people. We cant tell it all. I know that God knows best and He will save us. We are learning to make a difference. Will you make the difference if given the opportunity? This is very straight forward. What people dont know is that philosophy and law students usually have some things in common. Most of them are outspoken and are critical thinkers. What matters is your opinion others are advices. Most importantly trust God to direct your path. Pray and ask for His leading. Dont do what you will later regret. I wish you the best of God |
