PropertiesRe: Land Fencing: How Much Will It Cost To Fence A 100 By 100 Feet Plot Of Land? by boay(m): 10:58am On Nov 06, 2019
fynguynopimples:
Greetings Nairalanders, Please i'd love to have an idea of how much it will cost me to fence the front of a 100 by 100ft plot of land excluding gate.
My three neighbour at my left, right & back have fenced their compound around me to my advantage, leaving me with the front to complete.
i will very much appreciate breakdown estimate of bags of cement needed, blocks , sand , granite, wood and labour.i am working on a 150k budget(excluding gate), i don't know if that will be enough?
Your suggestions are highly welcomed

About the tank scaffold..

I went to a building where one was done.. the tank fell off from the top of the scaffold. It was a two storey building somewhere in sangotedo after ajah. The scaffold was quite high.
Luckily the tank fell into a bare land just adjacent the building. So no injury or life lost..

So i am trying to get all the information possible to be sure he is on the right track.

Please guys i need your input.

Happy sunday
grin
What made it fell off? The answer to this is the key.

Besides, the tank should be anchored to the stand.

Snap the "leg" of the stand, let's see. I mean the part that will enter the ground

Engineers and expects in the house, i have two questions to ask...

I made this water tank scaffold recently. It is 4inch galvanised steel pipe and it is meant to carry two 1500 litres tank.

1.)Those of us in lekki/ibeju lekki who have constructed this type of scaffold. I hope its holding. Any long-term issues...?

2.) How would the foundation be. My Engineer recommended 2ft into the ground and a slab above ground surface. Is that how it is done.

Abeg make una assist me before scaffold go fall o.
Galvanized steel pipe is OK, but can the stand in the picture carry two 1500litres? The picture may be deceptive sha

For me 2ft is too small, the minimum I will do for that type of location is 1meter

About the cost truly the difference is not much which have expressed above !

Then about the time if Your project is schedule with PROFESSIONAL METHODOLOGY and having a projects required such amount of block has op said. ON site production With machine is the best!

For best quality
To maintain the time schedule intact!
The difference is will be much and become significant if you consider the fact that he said he need more than 20,000

Even if it is 20naira, that's atleast NGN400,000. Besides, the difference will be more than 20naira per block

If u are molding with machine like op said, i don't think there is much difference in cost.
@bold i think it is actually the opposite, u buy blocks to avoid delay, molding do take sometime
With adequate planning, moulding won't take time. It would be better

Good, the OP now needs the service of a BUILDER to carry out the construction work.
Bcs OP is with the building drawing already done by the architect/ structural engr.
Please I don't get it ooo.

A contractor is different from a Builder!

In the construction industry we have different professional, a builder is one.

We have Architect, Quantity Surveyor, Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers,Builders, Land Surveyor and even Estate Manager. At times, depending on the nature of project, Fine Artist/Designer may come in

There is a course in polytechnics and universities called Building Technology. If you study this course and you become registered with the Nigerian Institute of Builders (NIOB) and Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) you become a Builder (with Blder as designation just like Engineers use Engr and Quantity Surveyors use QS).

Anyone can open a construction firm/company and become a contractor but you must have professionals on your team.

Being a contractor is not a "profession" like Engineers, Architect etc,. You don't study it in school. It is a business venture

It is that simple

The following have access to building construction in Nigeria.
Architect as first man
Structural Engineer as second man
Builder as third man.
The last two duties are Project managing(for project manager) and Quantities Surveying(for Quantity surveyor).
Any of the first 3 can be the contractor as the case may be.

Regardless of the professional in charge,an architect been the designer will always be needful to carry out his duties where necessary, the same goes to a structural engineer in the aspect of iron works where clarifications are needed.

I respect your opinion, but I think I need to add this:

Anybody can be a contractor, I am a Quantity Surveyor and by 2020 I will be launching my construction company. Anybody can go into the business of construction.

In my construction firm, I will have Architect, Engineers etc on my team.

Hello all,

What is the estimated cost savings per block in molding blocks on site vs purchasing specially made blocks?
For the sake of analysis, lets say we need 20k (twenty thousand) blocks and space is available on site to stack it....

1) What is the best unit cost (and savings) we can achieve if we mold compared to buying from the market at btw N200-N220 per block?

2) What are the materials required and quantities to mold 20,000 pieces of 9" blocks on site?

edit: Machine will be used for the molding due to qty required (over 20k) and to get good quality.

Thanks for your contributions.
The only cost saving is the cost of transportation and profit (of block moulding industries). The cost saving will be reasonable because of the large quantity.

It is advisable to mould to ensure quality and considering the fact that you need a large quantity.

The basic materials you will need are cement, sand/quarry/stone dust and water. The moulding machine inclusive.

I need to put pen on paper to determine the exact quantities.

Also, will you use sand or stone dust? Where is your location? What type of machine will you use to mold, do you own or will hire the machine, will the labourers/operators be engaged newly or are part of the/your company etc.

These info are needed for a detail analysis.

Good evening guys, please i wanto know, if i have land i want to build on, and i wanto start building, i have artitecural plan already,....is it a building contractor i need to handle the construction, laborers , buulding materials, etc or a site manager. Please help out
You can do this in two ways.

1. If you have knowledge of construction and depending on the scope and nature of what you want to build, you can engage a project manager (an engineer or builder) to do supervision while you use direct labour.

2. You can give it as a contract to a contractor (construction firm)

However, in the two cases you need an estimate or bills of quantities to know your financial commitment, plan and control cost.

If you are going for option 2, you need to get a personal estimate or bills of quantities before engaging a contractor.

Then, you will give the drawings to contractors and ask them to submit their quotation.

After that you will evaluate the submission by the contractors with the personal estimate or bills of quantities you have to know who to give the contractor to.

You can reach me for further details and assistance

You should know that Building is actually wide. Ever heard of an estimator? That's a builder who specializes on estimating.
Please, this is utterly wrong!

Different countries call Quantity Surveyor different names, part of it is Estimator though that's archaic now.

What is more?

Quantity Surveyors perform their duties without compromising on the quality of end results or failing to adhere to the building, health, and safety regulations. Furthermore, they take part in projects and work with contractors/clients right from the start, preparing comprehensive project estimates. Once the building process starts, quantity surveyors keeps a close tab on any variations that may lead to cost fluctuations.Over the course of the project, key tasks are related to outcome analysis, work evaluation, and progress reports.

Hi Everyone,
I recently acquired a plot of land in an area that is a bit swampy(Only swampy because a few people diverted the free flow drainage to the land)

So the question is this: Can i use use 6 inch Flats(hole-less blocks) to build a storey building from the foundation to the decking level? will those blocks works or i need 9 inch blocks all through? The builder said 6 inches hole-less blocks will work. I need expert suggestions please.

Thanks
Use 9" block for substructure. You can use 6" for internal wall partitions. If the walls are non-load bearing, solid 6" can work for the external block work. How ever, do this with caution
