Muchos Gracias. All points taken. Especially that one on staying on Accra’s case. The thing don dey pass be careful.

Thanks a lot for replying and looking forward to hearing news of your PPR.

SkyWalk12:
Gaddem man. I feel for you. Will try to answer as best as I can.

1) I emailed Ralph a month after my interview and that’s the only reason he was helpful, if I emailed before, he’d have just told me the same thing Accraimmigaration has been saying. You usually only get one chance to email Ralph so I’ll say hold off. But there was also someone here who emailed him before and he told her that her interview had been waived. So you decide.

2) don’t panic. It was only a reply to people who were disturbing them about the status of their application. I was on a group chat and a few of us got the same response but not all of us.

3) they told me my file had been transferred to Accra for interview mid July. By like first week in August, they told me my interview had been scheduled for mid September. But I disturbed them a bit.

4) I left the group cos they were chatting about winter clothes and other non-Accra visa office issues and since that’s why I joined, it was a bit off putting. However, I know that because of spammers, they changed it to invite only. I think some other Accra people here like Abliki or Zutlin are on the group. Maybe they can invite you. Good luck. And disturb Accra, get their attention.

Hi @SkyWalk12, Congratulations in advance and well done for keeping the faith. Your story is a proper thriller in Manila.

My/Our application ( AOR Feb 21) is in this same AVO drama so your story, in its own way gives us hope. Last GCMS notes indicated the interview story from Mid June and all the mails to them have been answered with “ you’re on the queue”

Just want to confirm a couple of things from you.

1. Did you email Ralph Goodale and was that helpful?
2. The email about everything being postponed to2019 at AVO, was that sent to everyone who’s due to be interviewed? Cos we haven’t gotten any email like that ( cue panic? )
3. What was the time between when they asked you to come for the interview and the actual date?
4. You mentioned an AVO whatsapp group? Is there a way to get on there?

Apologies if you’ve answered any of these before.

Cheers and congrats again

BoboXIV

SkyWalk12:
Got my second set of GCMS notes and it legit looks amazing. I’m just waiting for whatever principality to free AVO’s soul so that I can go home to Canada.

Anyway, I am now ready to post about my interview. Let me go and compose. Please moderators, kindly add it to that interview link on page 1.

.@Toyogirl Hi there. Trying to send you a PM but can’t seem to get through. I’d be most grateful if you could respond to this or via PM.

Thanks a lot!

Hi @Toyogirl,

I’d like to please send you a message re Accra VO/Interview process.

Basically want to find out how you first found out you needed an interview and what you then did( if anything) to get the interview date.

I saw from your profile that it took about 5-6 weeks between when you knew about the interview to when they actually called you?

Regards,

BoboXIV

Godisincontrol:
Oga submarine, now is the time you need to jettison that your submarine oo. I am no expert but below are my little contributions.

1) Seems the officer who reviewed at LVO has seen the need for further verifications, hence the issue of interview. Onus is on her to prove or disprove their concerns with regard to NOC...if its possible post the portion of the notes where this is talked about after redacting her details as well as yours.

2) The move to Accra is due to proximity: if/and when the interview will take place. I had earlier posted the link to Accra VO WhatsApp group. You can look it up and join the group.
Thanks mate. Appreciate the response.

There was nothing extra in the notes really. Just that he/ she didn’t feel there was managerial experience per the NOC and her reference letter.

Not worried per se about the interview though. Key issue is does one now wait indefinitely for them to call for interviews..its been 7/8 weeks since that file transfer to Accra.

Thanks for the emails though, I’ll drop them a line once I can.

Cheers!

*Emerges from submarine mode. Looks left, then right. Sees no sign of fighting. Raises head to ask question*

Good morning the people of Nairaland!! So it arrived like a thief in the night..

No no not PPR. My second GCMS notes, grin bringing with it more questions than answers. But notbefore there was drama in the BoboXIV household.

So the misuss has Fwded the notes to me earlier this morning and as I was reviewing I get a message from her

Her: *Calls me by my full government name, including middle name o*, Eeeeeh, you have finished me!

Me: What ? What happened? Are you okay? Whathuh

(In my mind I’m thinking my enemies have spoilt my name and photoshopped nudes or brought an illegitimate child to the house )

Her: These people are saying there is a need for interview for my NOC ooo! That NOC that you “gave” me!

Me: Mmmsew!! Is that it? It’s nothing jo. On Nairaland we dey see am every other day

Her: Ah okay, if Nairaland says so, then it must be okay

*************

Ehen, now that I have used style to calm the missus down ehn, let me now tell the truth.

I dey worry o! Okay not really worry sha but just need some clarifications so that I can go eat breakfast in peace.

So the notes said something to the effect that her job description/reference didn’t show she was a manager. So an interview was needed. This is after at least 2 other reviews on the same GCMS notes said, her reference was consistent with lead statement and other job description line items for her NOC.

1. This comment was as far back as June 8th but we havent gotten any invitation to come for an interview since then. Is this normal? There’s probably a couple of ppl who had to go do interviews in Accra, would you be able to confirm how it all panned out? I think I also read some cases where the interview was later cancelled?

2. It looks like the file was transferred to Accra Visa Office from London. It says Primary Office Accra, Secondary Office: London. I need to check the first notes again but I think I recall that it was definitely LVO then as primary) Is this also a thing? Moving applications across offices?

3. The status also says Security: Not Started for both of us and for Info sharing, mine is complete and hers in progress. We find this a bit odd though cos her travel history dey learn next to mine? Is the Security not started thing an issue though a few things I’ve seen indicate otherwise.

4. We are now 6 months post AOR (21st Feb) and seeing as last action was 7-8 weeks ago, I’d like to start calling them. Yay or Nay? And if Yay, what’s best way to do this. Am I calling Accra or London or CIC in Canada?

I was so hoping this thing would have been sorted this month. I no wan pay school fees again jare. Na Ticket money be that cool

Hopeful for some feedback from anyone who has had similar experiences or knowledge

Thanks a lot!

Dear @NewMum0615

No one exemplifies the expression “ A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle” better than you.

Huge Congratulations!

Saw your pre-announcement in car heading home and yelled out “ O da pe NewMum ti Gba PPR VISA” to no one in particular. Driver replies “ Mummy sekini? Won ti gba visa?? congratulations sir! A ma wash e!”

Copied link of your announcement and sent to the missus who’s not even on here and she calls back immediately screaming excitedly and I can hear my kids also screaming excitedly as well . Lol! All she knows is what I tell her of you and your equanimity and amazing positive spirit.

Weird how the good you do gets you famous in places you don’t even know. Hehe!

You’re a proper Rockstar and just like @GlitteringStar, very few PPR announcements can get my normally laid back blood racing like this!

Well done and all the very best as you celebrate and prepare for your relocation. God will continue to grant you your hearts desire and may everything you touch be successful!

I will be drinking some proper whisky in your name this evening and my driver too will be washing..even though he doesn’t know who Newmum is too, he also says congrats especially as he don get him cut!

God bless you!

Best regards,

BoboXIV

Emerging from submarine mode to offer Belated congratulations to you @Ethelia

Haven’t had particular cause to interact with you but as a very active member of the Silent(Mostly) Readers Association, it’s evident that you’re genuinely a good person with extremely even temperament ( Even in the face of Page 0 induced aggravation) So your PPR was obviously one of the few that I was keen to see.

All the very best to you and your family. Godspeed cool

Congratulations to all ITA and PPR Receipients over last few days/weeks!

You too much. I was beginning to feel like the middle child as ppl dey jump and pass my question grin

On this travel matter, dem go tire o. Fingers crossed sha.

Off to GCMSBuddy now. Appreciate the revert.

Newmum0615:
I don't know if travel history is a problem. My opinion is that it may be. My opinion sha cos I believe that the background check that needs to be done from all the places one visits might contribute to delays. Be it for the PA or spouse. I have a good amount of travel time so I am guessing my application is delayed cos of that. But like I said, it's my presumption.
I found out my LVO from GCMS notes ordered via gcmsbuddy. Results came in 2 weeks. Everything looks fine, so it's just a waiting game now.
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by BoboXIV(m): 8:48pm On Apr 26, 2018
Just like that. Page 7 already?

Greetings to all who have received ITA, PPR and spanked IELTS since this submarine of mine last cane up for air.

Just a quick question re moving PoF post AOR . I’d gone and kept my PoF in a GT fixed deposit for last 4-5 months ( Had delusionally thought the PPR was a kpakpakpa something) however I now have opportunity to invest in another fund that’ll give higher/better returns. Can I go ahead and do that with no risk to the application?

Second , AOR is 2 months now o. (Feb 22nd)Time for GCMS note request?? I believe Our application is at IP1...I guess?

Third, is extensive travel history really an issue ( even if its not for the primary aplicany) that could cause delay?

Also @NewMum0615..saw somewhere you confirmed you’re part of London Visa Office, how did you confirm this? Thank you in advance

Good morning!!

Things I have learnt on Nairaland:

“The fear of banishment to Page 0 is the beginning of wisdom”

However, it is the Easter season and May the good Lord forgive you in advance for any “tasi” or “ela” or “isho” that you may be considering to bestow on me for my innocent questions cool

Aaaaanyway, just wanted to get some clarification re a couple of things

1. GCMS Notes: I’ve seen the getgcms site and I assume the option to select is the eGCMS option that costs 15USD? Also when is it okay to request the notes considering it takes a fair bit to come through.
AOR was 22nd Feb and MEP was March 1st. Is it too early?

2. Application Stages: I genuinely am not sure how to read this properly. I saw this quote below from my trawling through the nairaland universe -( By the way there’s a loooooot of things on this Nairaland thatbyour eye will see, that maybe you wish you could unsee grin )

“Background Check:
This changed from “Not Applicable (NA)” to “Next Step to conduct BG Check (NBG)” aka IP1- 03-May
“Next Step to conduct BG Check” to “Not Applicable (NA)” aka NA2– 06-May
“Not Applicable” to "We are processing your background check" aka IP2- 27-Sep”

However, I’ve also seen some general comments that seem to indicate that the wording might be slightly different. The question though is how can you conclusively know what stage you’re at in the process. Especially as you could have gone from NA to something else and Back to NA. And it’s not like the 1st and 2nd NA wear “different uniform”

Does one get an email notification for every single step change?

3. Identifying the appropriate Visa Office: This should probably have been No.1 as I believe that this is what I should confirm BEFORE asking for/considering the GCMS Notes. If yes, how do I do this again? Yeah yeah I've seen it asked before but everyone should have at least one “Get out of Page 0 Jail free” card.

Thanking you in advance and Congratulating all PPR collectors,ITA Receivers, WES Champions and IELTS survivors so far.

As is always said, It will end in praise cool

Oga warn yasef o, abeg find correct gift give Madam in addition to IELTS o.

Yinmu! Is there a greater gift than the gift of 20 points on CRS Score? Abeg o, it will have to do in these times of austerity

1 & 2. If you get the letter in CIC format, you can discard the statements of accounts, if there is a big divergence between average balance and current balance, explain, for example if you moved money to Madam, tell the VO and attach receipts of the transfer, you should also write a letter stating that you provided her with the money for the purpose of settling in Canada. The statements of accounts can make the whole thing clumsy .....if you are using multiple sources of funds, do a summary table on your LOE and make the LOE the first page of the POF document.

Thanks for this, Account statement don dey pass 80 pages so was already looking untidy sef. Will do as suggested.Seems there's a lot of letter writing in this process grin

It may be a week or two before submission but I do not think it should be too far back, else they will definitely send ADR for updated POF, not that its a bad thing though.

Considering the headache GTB gave me before getting the letter in that format, not looking forward to calling Account Officer again. But I guess it should be easier this time, since they have gotten approval for it from their "legal" previously. Ordinary letter o.. mmmsew!

3. Re-validate it.

Will do. 20k donation to Nigeria Police Force niyen sha. Sigh! All join

4. You are meant to upload the data page of your current passport and all stamps + visas in the current passport. These should be able to fit into 4mb after compressing it . Any other thing is ITK . If you want to make your travel history more obvious, fill Form IMME 5562 E upfront and scan along with your passport. It is also ITK but if it makes you comfortable....do it. You already have your travel history (for past 10 years) filled out somewhere on the EAPR.

Okay I didn't know it was current passport only. Thought I read somewhere about all stamp /visas in last 10 years of travel. Current passport is relatively new so certainly the scan will fit under 4MB.

Hello all,

First of all ( Go down low cool, ) "Shalla" to all who helped with advice re declining the ITA or not. Clearly, on this journey, Patience is a virtue. Much appreciated!!

Update re the challenge below. Just saw IELTS results from Feb 1st test online and thankfully, my scores (LRWS 8,9,8,8 ) take us back to a CRS of 449 from 429. Updated the score in Madam's EE Profile a few minutes ago so joining the hopeful band expecting ITA, sooner than later.

(Now looking for where to print the result inside Valentine Card to give to madam. Valentine present don show be that na abi?)

Aaaanyways, as we wait though, and while I have your attention, a couple of questions re validity of documentation, seeing as we'd pretty much gotten all the documents etc from our previous ITA.

1. POF: For the POF, how "recent" does the letter from the bank have to be? Considering that the letter/SOA I have were from mid Jan.

2. SOA: Also, I've added my SOA+Bank Letter(CIC format), her SOA +Bank Letter(Regular format), Her payslips, Her Pension Statement, Our joint SOA + Bank Letter (Regular Format). Question is, since I have my letter in CIC Format, do I need to submit my SOA seeing as the missus is the primary applicant and I'm just supporting...in fact do we need to submit any SOA at all?

3. PCC: Ive seen this asked and answered before, but just reconfirming that even though the Nigerian PCC from Alagbon states a validity of 3 months, the CIC/IRCC/VO recognises it for a period of 1 year? We got the certificates in late November.

4. Travel History: I am unable to upload complete scans of my visa pages below the 4/5mb limit. Tried everything possible to compress scans, but not working. Question is, is travel history supposed to be for the last 10 years only? And if I can't upload scans, is stating it in the LOE that I have additional travel history necessary?

Again, thank you all so much o, even as you answer my plenty, plenty questions and await IELTS, ITA or PPR.

It will, surely, end in praise cool ( Someone should make a t-shirt with that by the way)

Regards,

BoboXIV

BoboXIV:
Hello all,

Silent reader, Active applicant here. smiley

First, thanks to all who started this and share their experiences on here. And yes, I started from Page 0, Thread 1 sef. smiley

So I have a challenge that I am hoping someone else may have dealt before or maybe get advice on how to proceed.

Some background: my missus is the primary applicant ( She's got a Masters degree, I don't) and based on her CRS score of 449, we got an ITA, Nov 15 last year. Currently, we have all documents uploaded,Medical forms, References, POF docs, Police report (had to travel to Kenya to get mine as well as I lived there for a bit) etc. However, my first IELTS score expired Dec 16th ( After we received the ITA) and the earliest date I was able to get for a new test was for today Feb 1st. Writing this just as I get back to my desk at work. The Missus and I actually both wrote the test in 2015 December but while I had the right scores then, she fell short in one area (Writing I think) by 0.5. but we got in the pool circa April 2016 ( ECA Delays cos of UNILAG) Lets just say she finally summoned courage to do the test again in October last year and finally got the right scores at end of October leading to the Nov ITA cutoff of 439

So fast forward to today. The deadline for submission for our ITA is Feb 14 ( more like midnight on Feb 13) and from what was announced today, the IELTS results will only come out on Feb 14th. Now without my score, Madam's CRS drops to 436 which is below the CRS cutoff that we got our ITA. However, if she takes me out as " Non-Accompanying" it will be 445. Fact is I'm not immediately planning to relocate anyways but concerned that if we go this route, there may be drama down the line if/when I try to get a visa to Canada. So, having endured a number of sleepless nights on this, I feel that these are my options

1. Submit application anyway immediately with my expired IELTS test results and update it once the new test result comes out on the 14th of Feb.(I'm fairly confident that I will have reasonable scores) . I have seen on the CIC website that you can update your details even after applying in cases of things like expired results

2. Wait till the morning of 13th Feb and pray the IELTS results comes out earlier than the advertised date( I don't know if this happens though). Madam is a bit scared of this option though ( What if their server crashes? What if their are issues with Payment platform? What if Donald Trump takes over Canada and builds a wall)

3. Decline ITA and wait for next favourable draw. Note though that Madam will lose 5 points in June so CRS will now drop from 449 to 445. What if the CRS doesn't fall again. This is also like my least favoured option o. Even my liver is reaching out to "konk" my head for thinking of this?

4. Take me out as "Non-Accompanying" and have her apply with the kids at the 445 score, hope they get the PR status, then start hustling a regular Canadian Visa after they do. Note that I would need to go with them for a few weeks when relocating to settle them in before coming back to the hustle in the "Obodo Naija"

So this is my dilemma...will appreciate any advice from the house generally or anyone who's been in this sort of scenario.

Again, thanks to everyone making this thread a source of information and inspiration on this journey.

Regards,

BoboXIV

Appreciated. We ended up declining. I actually don't plan to migrate "fully" at this time but who knows tomorrow? All documents ready, once new IELTS comes out, the way I go take upload am ehn? Thanks again!

Lucious477:
Hi,

You do not need to be impatient to submitting an expired IELTS result (your application may be rejected). Also, if you truly want to migrate with your family, you don't need to declare yourself as "non-accompanying" spouse.

June is a long time and you have a good CRS score. I'll advice you decline your ITA and get all your documents ready (including your valid IELTS result) before submitting your next application.

Smart Family. I'm glad to read that you are declining the ITA.I predict that your new ITA will get to you by 21st February, 2018 so please start gathering your documents so that you can submit by 22nd of February grin grin

Thank you all very much for the comments. Been very helpful.

Based on this, we've decided to decline the ITA.

But trusting God that a) IELTS don't try themselves and give one a disastrous score and b) CRS scores actually drop even lower, not just for us but for everyone on this thread hoping for ITA.

and @happytbaby, you were right re the points from my language scores were actually 20, so her score is now 429. So hoping that we get a Valentine day present of 20 points from IELTS to take us back to 449. cool

My advice: Decline the ITA. 449 is a good CRS score and I believe you will get another invitation before the end of February.

If your results will expire before you can apply, you should:

- be tested again or
- apply before your test results expire or
- decline the invitation and go back into the pool to be considered in the future

If you apply for permanent residence with language test results that have expired, we’ll refuse your application.--(Source)

Appreciated! Seems that Option 4 is not something that people advise ( even from other examples I've seen) so maybe na to eliminate that angle.

Actually score will likely be 449 once I get the new test results (at least based on belief cool), at least until June when she will drop 5 points for age

ysteph:
If you're sure that your CRS will remain 445 if you add the new IELTS. I'll say decline the ITA.
445 is a high score to receive ITA in this month of February.

Meanwhile, I won't advice that madam declare you as unaccompanying, after adding you as accompanying initially. VO may look into the reason for editing profile and may think its because of the high score.

Let others try.

I pray God directs you on the best possible option to take.

Appreciate the response. and the emphatic "no way" on Option 4. grin

Re comment on Option 2. Expiry is Feb 14 12 AM UTC. My understanding is that means, midnight on Feb 13th??
Also, didn't realise I needed to scan the TRF set, though I have the old one sha. And your sentiments on pressure and rush etc is in alignment with madam's thinking.

Re comment on Option 1. Current LOE actually mentions the whole story of writing a new test etc. But thanks for the point about adding evidence of new test being/already written. Makes sense die. Re Current Scores ( L:9, R:9, W: 8.5, S:8.5) Madam's scores are (L:8.5, R:7.5, W: 7.5, S:7.5)

So hoping for more comments o. Cos if its Option 1, na to submit tomorrow be dat na. smiley

happytbaby:
Let me make an attempt.

Option 4 : No way!

Option 3: Possible...but let others weigh in on what I have to say on options 1 & 2

Option 2: Report does not come out earlier than advertised but what if we look at the time zones. Also you will need to scan the TRF and you will not have it yet. Is it Feb 14 that they wrote on your profile or 13 (for expiry of ITA)? Will you be able to open office with British Council staff on the morning of 14th? Although I would not want an 11th hour thing whereby you will be rushing and may experience issues like debit card not working. I hate to be under pressure like that.

Option 1: This is the one I prefer. Submit the expired TRF, submit an LOE stating that you have written another one and will update as soon as result is out. Add evidence that you wrote another one. When the result is released, raise CSE, write an LOE again detailing the issues, recalculate the CRS based on the new scores, apologize profusely, state that your CRS still meets the minimum score for your cut-off and add the new TRF. How many points did your IELTS contribute to Madam's CRS? For your narrative, it looks like 3points, I am thinking that is impossible. Please state your current scores.

Regards,

BoboXIV
