That's true... A lot of airline operators lease most of their fleet. I just started a paper: lease vs purchase. Depending on the scenario, like I said before, purchase is often better than leasing the aircraft. Again, it all depends on what scenario you're talking about.

Unless you are Emirates, Qatar or Etihad, most airlines are better off leasing aircraft.

Google Gecas and thank me later.

Meanwhile, I'll like Boeing777pilot to have a look at these classic birds on display

You know, it's always a deeply humbling experience every single time I do my pre flight walk-around or I step in to the cockpit.
That I can be trusted with lives and a $300million plus equipment.

Maybe I should just chip this in, most Nigerian airlines don't have the financial muscle to outrightly buy aircraft so the best alternative is to lease aircraft and paint it in their colors. That is they hire the aircraft from a company for a fixed time which is renewable. If they default, the owners come for their aircraft. #NowYouKnow grin

Oya, I'm waiting cheesy grin
Boeing 737-300 series (classic) Around $40-50million but not sure they bought it sha, it was probably leased.

That's a Boeing 737 Business Jet

Eagle one or NAF-001

The airspace is shut down whenever the aircraft is about to take off or land for security reasons.

You know you are a real aviation geek :

when you can tell the make of an aircraft by just hearing the sound of the engines.

Feel free to add more.

Online check in and choosing one sit on the plane are two different things entirely

Am also flying Emirates and I have chosen by seats on both of the connecting flights ( near window)

And Emirates said it clearly on their site that online check in is only for those without luggages (with only hand luggage)

So advice you follow the flight itinerary and stick to the time given to you on your ticket

Btw when's your flight? Have you applied/gotten your PTA??

***Late reply***

Not exactly correct sir.
You can check in online and have your luggages tagged at the airport with the information from your online check in.

Ok. So I've been thinking for sometime, Arik has this issue with paying their workers(pilots) most of them are leaving. This is crazy but hear me out, I was thinking if I get my CPL ME & IR with or without type rating and Frozen ATPL I should try my luck with Arik because to be sincere at this point in time (I'm 20yo)I don't really care about pay, Maybe in next 2-3yrs I'll do but for now I just want to fly. I want the experience and flight hours but not the money for now.

If you are type rated, it's usually faster cos if you aren't rated, it means they may be have to sponsor you for training abroad something they don't do often...

Believe me, it's not crazy cos I did something similar but not in Nigeria though, got my 737 type rating, then worked for free for a while but getting a proper contract and the rest is history...

US Secretary of State John Kerry is currently in Nigeria. I can imagine how the airspace would look like. It would usually be shut down till his plane lands and takes off and aircraft already in the air would have to go into holding pattern, not funny I tell you.

Am referring to being a FLIGHT DISPATCHER and not a PILOT, guess they are two different designations in the Aviation Industry. My question is how Lucrative is the work of a FLIGHT DISPATCHER with the FAA Licence?

There is this misconception that aviation careers are very lucrative, it's the passion that motivates every one in the aviation industry not how LUCRATIVE it is.

LOL, we fly because it's our passion not because of the pay. That's where it all starts from.

Okay. The hour building is the difficult thing now, I was thinking of going for instructor rating and instruct to get hours not really minding if they pay or not. Second was to go bush flying.
What do you think?

I would recommend the instructor route. Have you considered building hours in the SIM?

But give careful consideration for the equipment you want to be type rated on. It's very important especially with respect to career mobility.
