By their comments, you shall know them.

Education / Re: Pls Which Course Can I Study With This Result by Boeing777pilot: 1:31pm On Jul 09, 2016
Re-enrol for SSCE again and clear all your papers at once.

Any person advising you to seek tertiary admission with this result most likely doesn't mean well for you.

Minimum is five credits including Maths and English , you have only four.

No serious institution will give you admission with this kind of result.

LR - Long Range
ER - Extended Range

LR has longer range, that's why I'm going to miss it.

It means shorter flights for me now.

The B777-200LR actually holds the world record for longest non stop flight. It can stay up to 19hours airborne.

B777-300ER around 12 hours cry

The name oyakhilome sells newspapers
So one frustrated journalist sits somewhere are conjures articles from the figment of his imagination and gullible readers swallow it hook, line and sinker. The text of the write reveals the bitterness in the mind of the writer.

Own navigation to them is only horizontal movement and not vertical. I added 2000 feet to my initial assigned attitude immediately I heard "own course"

That's why we called it set up .
What if by adding 2000 feet you violate the vertical separation minima? That's not safe.

I'd rather stay on my assigned flight level till ATC grants clearance

Hi Fellow Aviators in the house. Gratitude to Boeing777pilot and Olisa4all for this thread, big ups to you guys y'all are what I aspire to be!

I have always wanted to be a pilot since I started secondary school and when I finished I wanted to start my pilot training but unfortunately I missed the admission for 2015, then my Dad's friend adviced me to do the Flight Dispatch course in the Nigerian College of Aviation in Zaria and so I bought the form and I passed the exam. While doing the course, I also wrote and passed the SP-31 entrance exam (it was no mean feat at all). The dispatch course ended in November last year and I'm currently doing the flying course and fortunately/unfortunately it's been integrated with the ATPL so when I graduate I get a CPL,PPL NR,I&MER and then a frozen ATPL. My question is what's the advantage of doing an integrated course like this and does it really make you better than the average Pilot that just graduated with just PPL and CPL. Thank You!!

Advantage is that it saves you time
Not really, it's doesn't make you better than those who took the modular route and when it comes to recruitment, each airline has their own preference.

Personally, I went for the modular route.

Kudos to you sha. Your brain dey hot. grin

One ugly girl in my class leaked one of such letters written to her beautiful friend,it eventually got to the hands of our proprietor. He guy was expelled.

Going forward, guys preferred using their mouths at least there's no evidence left behind unlike letters.

these demons are at it again...sealing off Igbo owned companies. See how desperate they are to collect taxes from Igbo businesses...even going to as far as Imo state to harass hotel owners. Tell me how much they collect from taxes in Jigawa or Osun...oh there is no meaningful or decent hotels there? This wicked country built on the sweats of Igbos. You see the same thing at the ports, airports, transportation of goods from SW to SE...taxing and extorting Igbos to death;

Because of people like you, service providers should test IQ of potential customers.

Travel / Re: Air Zimbabwe Pilot Receives Standing Ovation From Passengers. by Boeing777pilot: 9:37pm On Jun 25, 2016
Hmmmmmm

OP, There are many holes in this your story oh!

1. It doesn't make sense to battle to land a plane for over an hour in BAD weather in three attempts when she can either return to the airport where she came from or divert to an alternate airport. Standard procedure.

2. Two captains don't usually fly an aircraft at the same time, it's almost unheard of. It's usually a captain and a first officer. Ever heard of you can't have two captains in one ship?

3. In the event of the situation as described above (if true) it's the captain who sits on the left who takes charge of the aircraft, the pictures you posted apparently has two captains meaning that they didn't operate that flight.

4. How did the passengers in the CABIN see how she landed the aircraft abi is there a live feed from the cockpit to the cabin?

Back...and moving on! ....Air Traffic Control.... you fly to different countries...different languages...different accents..... what if the ATC has a very strong ehmmmm..... Warri accent.... how do you manage?

English is the language used internationally for all things aviation.

So far, the worst English accents are from South East Asia. Sometimes we barely hear what they say so we have to do several read backs before we finally get what they are saying. It's really really bad sometimes.

There are others who talk as though they have hot yams in their mouth. So we have developed very strong listening skills.

I was thinking about it would be nice if olisa4all, mosquitoway and my humble self do a post " A day in the life of a pilot" to give you all a first hand insight into how our typical flying day looks like and tell you somethings you probably never knew about.

But that would be when we have our own aviation section.

There is some much to tell you about us and one of my favorite part is our relationship with our ATC guys and our captains.

Not everyone has to be a pilot, one of the aviation professionals I respect the most is ATC(Air Traffic Control) those guys&girls are on a different level, without them, there'll be incidents every second!
They literally tell Pilots what to do
During my training, there were some airports student pilots dreaded flying solo to cos of how harsh ATC at those airports can be and there were airports we loved going to cos ATC is always nice

grin when we have our own section, we should create a thread on our experiences with ATC. Sometimes you can live with them but you can't live without them.

Hmmm....that's like 260kph/160mph....minimum speed...wow!...before landing it feels no way close to that...not even half that speed. The noise.... is it that the engine is thrown in like full reverse?... I always thought it couldn't .

Yup, you wouldn't notice it because you are seated comfy in the cabin but if you see an aircraft landing in real life you will have an idea.

Thrust reversers, not full reverse grin

The mods dont/cant create a new section, the Admin/owner can...

plus there's a career section,

I had a feeling from the start there would be more questions on how to become a pilot/getting scholarship than any in-depth discussions about aviation

The reason why you think so is because there is no Avenue for them to express themselves. If I didn't create this thread, people will not have had a opportunity to express themselves. Yes, there's a career section but having a dedicated aviation streamlines it.
