@uyi, I'm sorry I've not been able to make more comments on this thread, my schedule has just been getting tighter and tighter, it sEems like the hours of the day are becoming shorter.

@uyi, why your skepticism about ETs?

k2039: Actually, this is wrong.

Pullin' out is 96% effective when used perfectly / 81% effective when used imperfectly. Pregnancy can never happen accidentally before ejaculation, as long as a guy's got supreme pullin out discipline.
my friend, stop being sarcastic, just cos u do it, doesn't mean that it's right, don't come here and give us cooked up stats. Withdrawal is not an effective form of birth control plain and simple.
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 6:06am On Aug 22, 2013
@uyi, my sincerest apologies bros, my schedule for the week has just been too hectic, abeg no vex bros.

So far very sound and logical arguments have been raised, and there are points I would like us to expantiate on more, and they are the possibility of life else where on the universe, and how to prove the supernatural,

I sincerely think that there might be life out there, somewhere in a galaxy or planet, or moon, although there's no concrete evidence to support these claims, but from one or two evidences we could deduce that there ETs in other planets, we have seen archaeologists dig up ancient texts dating back thousands of years, claiming to have encountered, beings from the sky, examples of such texts, are the sumerian tablets, dating back thousands of years, and even other great archaeological findings support the claims of life elsewhere,

The nazca lines in peru for example. These drawings can only be seen when u get to a very high altitude, before u can see them, and there was no way the people then could make those drawings if they weren't in some sort of flying machine, even drawings in the pyramids of giza give credence to the ETs theory, there are carvings on the wall of what seemed to be helicopters, with people worshiping these flying objects, and mind you, these drawings were made thousands of years,

Archaeologically, nearly every civilization on this earth has a story to tell about giant Gods coming from the sky to assist them or to enslave them.

And about proving the supernatural, logicboy raised some salient points, one of them being, why hasn't anyone of us seen an amputee who received his or her leg, after being prayed for? Well personally I wonder about that, but I think there would be an explanation for something like that, from the supernatural angle, maybe there's a "contract clause" in the healing of amputees, lol
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 5:33am On Aug 21, 2013
Tales of the paranormal abound both here in africa, in asia, and even in the western world. But like folykaze said, if he should bring a video of something supernatural, logicboy would scream foul, sighting inconsistencies in the video angles, and he'll conclude with "it's obvious the video was doctored" I put this question to logicboy, what would make u believe in the supernatural or metaphysical.
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 4:18pm On Aug 20, 2013
Lol, in the typical logicboy fashion, he has succeeded in derailing the thread, we're now talking about magnets. Lol, LB no go kee me ooo.

Logicboy03: Lol.....my great grandmother was an illiterate but she could grind tobacco better than malboro.

Local people and herbalist practice science too. Herbalists have experimented with some local plants. Did we need whites to tell us the importance of peppersoup for colds? Did we need white people to tell us the medicinal properties of mango treebarks and local bitters?
lol, logicboy, stop jor, u know what I'm tryna say,

Uyi Iredia: If it helps you sleep better know that I know that my visual cortex nuerons must have been misfiring. That nicely explains the trance. bolaino must have been decieved by some kind of salt which is effervescent on exposure to air.
lol, u know the funny thing about the new atheist movement, which logicboy is a proud member, they've turned out to become the very thing they started out fighting. They've become dogmatic, and they've closed their minds to any possibility of the supernatural existing. Logicboy won't agree but he has become dogmatic, any information he sees that doesn't conform to the walls of modern day science, he considers it absurd.
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 10:39am On Aug 20, 2013
Logicboy03: Sorry to butt in.

Well, I am happy that you guys are assessing your beliefs.

However, remember that there are optical illusions and magic tricks. Uyi claims to have seen a trance and Bolaino claims to have seen a herbalist do some witchcraft/voodoo.

I remember seeing a man claim that he has put a spell on a wall and that no one could touch it. He randomly picked some people to try and touch the wall. Some ran to the wall trying to kick it and some tried to touch it. They were all repelled from the wall!! lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Was the wall man doing magic? No, he was doing simple science. There were magnets in the wall and magnets on the people that ran to the wall. What do like poles of a magnet do? Repel each other.

Advanced science to the unwary is magic.
sire, u can not attribute great scientific feats to illiterates, and most of the voodoo witch doctors we have in africa are illiterates, so in which text book or school did they learn these complex scientific feats?

Wow, I'm so loving this thread. I'm sEeing another side of plaethon, so plaethon believes in ETs, and he also believes in the Anunaki, cool, we share similar beliefs, and our beliefs are based on logical theories, theories more logical than moses roaming the sinai desert for forty years.

Christianity EtcRe: What Does The Voice Of God Sound Like? by bolaino(op): 10:10pm On Aug 19, 2013
neena adjei: You have to be spiritually mature to identify the voice of God. Let me use Samuels story for example. Why do you think that Samuel went to Eli three times when he heard God call him. He wasn't stupid to go to Eli.besides he knew what elis voice sounded like cause he lived with the man. That's when eli told him that if he was to hear the voice again to say "speak for thy servant heareth". Why, cause Eli was mature and knew that that was no ordinary calling. So you see Gods voice, no one can describe. It can sound familiar but to be able to identify it you have to be spiritually mature. Btw its not important to know what it sounds like but to know if its actually God that is calling you. Cause hey even the Devil can call you. Also your mind can decieve you. Be spiritually alert!
well said.
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 10:05pm On Aug 19, 2013
Uyi Iredia: Okay. I'm supposing that is part why you believe in a God, if not, is there another reason ? I would like to hear it.

P.S: My MB is running low so if I stop replying it's because I'm out
weLl I do not believe in a God per se, but if I'm to believe in a God I would rather believe in a creative force, like I pointed out earlier.

PS. Eeyaa, that 1k when u lost, na u for add take run data plan oo, but no shakes, let's still continue the discuss.

because sire, there is no proof for his existence, and the only book that talks about him is filled with contradictions, thus making the book not credible.
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 9:39pm On Aug 19, 2013
Uyi Iredia: I agree but I differ in that I think it could be personal, I don't think there is ENOUGH evidence for this. I recall using the term conscious, intelligent energy to define God. Presumably this force like spirits is immaterial, agreed ?

To the extent there's a God sure. To extent dreams, OBE's (out of body events), clinical resurrection eg that Blackpool dude last year (can't recall the name) and even other stuff sure. But still I doubt the likes of UFO's, alien astronauts and necromancy. But I dislike your use of the term African, paranormal is known irrespective of race. But there are some stuff I believed which I now doubt (eg UFO's which my Dad told me and the fact that it was hyped even in Naija) inspite of accounts especially quite recently one by the late great Fela on UFO's. I think one should be skeptical of some not to fall victim of fraud as we know has occured.

I personally have seen a trance whilst being a Christian. What paranormal experiences have you ?

It's clear now that agnostic deism best describes your stance. Trust me, just stating agnostic will make many assume you are an atheist and you clealy by your opening statements aren't. As I said, I toyed around that but currently deist.
well, I have seen, a shaman, put a black powdery substance on someone, (the substance was in a large quantity) and the shaman, was making incantations, and this black substance, gradually entered into the skin of the person it was placed on, every single tin entered, I couldn't hold myself back I had to stand up to inspect the bed and the floor to make sure it wasn't a trick, and I was laughed at. But the body of the person absorbed this black substance, saw it with my two eyes, it happened to somebody I went to see who was receiving treatment from a herbalist. I'm a man of science. But I have seen strange tins, tins that can not be explained by richard dawkins or logicboy, lol

ledafaze: Boliano,

I like this your open way of talking... saying there might be a possibility, which you do not want to rule out... Meaning you are open for more discussion and exploration on this and I bet you shall find the light in Christ Jesus provided you are still open for talk and then know the truth.

To start this, please expand on your so claims (as agnosticism is a stance about the difference between belief and knowledge, rather than about any specific claim or belief source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism ) as Uyi Iredia pointed out.
lol, my good sire, I do not believe in the existence of jesus. If there's anything I'm sure about in this life, that should be it.
Christianity EtcRe: Bolaino, Let's Discuss Our Beliefs. by bolaino(m): 8:37pm On Aug 19, 2013
Uyi Iredia: As per the comment above, please expand on your current stance. I'm open to share mine as well if you are curious, but I have harped on it so many times so I think you may be aware. I'm particularly interested on whether you are more open to an impersonal God and why you believe in ghosts.
my good sire, I do not believe in the idea of a personal God, but the idea of an impersonal God appeals more to me. But I do not believe this God to be a be a spirit being, I see it more like a force. What I might call God is the creative energy/force, around us. It's not perfect though but those are my views about God.

I think it's foolhardy for any African not to believe in the paranormal, the supernatural quite exists. But many of my atheistic brethren do not agree with me. They believe that everything is just physical, the last time I created a topic about the supernatural, my good friends logic boy and muskeetoo, were making fun of me. But my stance on the supernatural is still affirmative. I believe in the supernatural. I believe in trances, visions dreams, etc. And I hope that as the thread progresses, we would have a lil bit of understanding about these phenomenons.

Uyi Iredia: Still waiting o ! I ain't doing BB plan, I'm on a capped data bundle and when it's off its likely days'll pass before I return. I would like this discourse to have started before then.
bros my sincerest apologies. I had a very hectic day. And I'm grateful for the thread, cos this is reaLly something that needs to be discussed.
Christianity EtcRe: Revealed: The Bible Says God Did Not Create Man. by bolaino(m): 10:55am On Aug 19, 2013
I'm not sure plaethon wrote this, but nice piece though. And there are some valid arguments there.
Christianity EtcRe: What Does The Voice Of God Sound Like? by bolaino(op): 7:29am On Aug 19, 2013
Uyi Iredia: Okay. Sincerely agnostic doesn't tell me your (un)metaphysical stance. Agnostic about what ? Theism, deism or atheism. I personally hovered around agnostic deism for a brief period without knowing it till now. Now if atheist, it would be interesting because it would confirm what thefool said iin the 'Free-Thinking' thread. Now what would such entities be ? Aliens, ghosts or poltergeists ?
my agnosticism leans more towards theism. Cos I do not want to ultimately rule out the possibility that there might be a God, but on the other hand, there isn't enough to prove that there is a personal God, I'm against the personal God concept. Yeah, entities, like ghosts, aliens and any other being that isn't human. I believe these things exist. Call me ignorant if u may. But I believe strongly that they do exist.
Christianity EtcRe: What Are Your Views On "Russia 2045" Or "2045"? by bolaino(op): 7:21am On Aug 19, 2013
#True that.
Christianity EtcRe: What Does The Voice Of God Sound Like? by bolaino(op): 11:04pm On Aug 18, 2013
Uyi Iredia: True. So how will you account for actual trances experienced by some ? Skepticism ? Credulity ? How do you account for trances and how do you respond to tales of such or the event, if you have undergone it ?
lol, oga uyi, this might bring a change to the topic, but that's where the believe in the supernatural comes to play. I'm agnostic and I believe in the supernatural, there are instances where sentient beings communicate with man, but these beings or entities should not be confused to be God.

Christianity EtcRe: What Does The Voice Of God Sound Like? by bolaino(op): 9:06pm On Aug 18, 2013
Uyi Iredia: So why do you think it involves hypnotism or a trance-like state ?
weLl, psychologically when u put all your consciousness on an idea or thought, it becomes a part of your sub consciousness, u might inadvertently do and hear strange things. So if u put all your thoughts towards hearing the voice of God, your sub consciousness records that thought puts it in your head, one day u might just be doing something different and u might get a feeling or hear a voice. And u'll assume that, you're hearing God talk, it all has to do with your state of mind, why don't we believe mad people when they say that they hear voices and see things? Cos we know that their consciousness has been altered.
Christianity EtcRe: What Are Your Views On "Russia 2045" Or "2045"? by bolaino(op): 8:34pm On Aug 18, 2013
caseless: and who are they in the face of death? See, simply becos he's being worshiped , he has refused 2 aknowledge God does not make him great, but God is great for creating him. How many of those asinines wil b here till 2045? Rawbish!
well one thing that science has taught me is "never say never" science has brought to life the weirdest and most impossible ideas. Science has bridged the gap between spaces that were thought impossible to bridge.

Personally I do not support this project. I do not wish to live forever and I think no body has the right to want to live for ever. The world is controlled by a system, and that system is what makes us what we are, so meddling with it might bring an end to our race as we know it. But on the other hand I commend the idea. I acknowledge the ingenuity behind the idea. So let's all just watch and see how this unravels.

And i wonder how such weightless belief bore through their hearts, inhabit their bodies , occupy their brains and remain in-situ therein. For sure they cant win this fight; How can somebody dare God?
