Well...I learnt that from here and in recent times, it's been true...but logically, u can't have 1mil and u say u want to stay and liv in a land u spend 200knaira or more in 2days...thats why wen I see a denial based on personal assets, I ask how much was the balance in their SOA and sponsor's SOA...VOs need to see that u have easily accessible money in your account cos they know how weak the naira is in the international market and u wanting to study and live in a country their money value is 10times higher than yours...basically u just need enough for your 1year stay or length of your stay in canada....thats what I feel shaa...but u can Google shaa, I don't know everything..

In my own opinion, I don't think so.
Does this apply to Graduate Studies only or is UG included?

Do u have an HND? If u do, that's Wat u submit..if u just have the ND, I feel u are meant to go for a pgd..that explains the 1st reason of denial being purpose of visit...also u did an ND in computer science and u are going for something in welding...that alone is Wat the VO meant by rejection based on purpose fo visit....2ndly, you CIC standards for personal assets are your SOA should have at least 5m while your sponsor should have at least 15m.. from Wat u said your sponsor having 9m isn't enough to cover your schooling and living expenses...thats the reason for personal assets..

Lastly, u need to explain the career prospects of u doing an apprenticeship in welding...Wat I mean is what will u offer wen u come back, wats the employability of your course in Nigeria...also that letter your bro wrote saying he will house u, pls don't put it again cos dat might cost your own bro his stay in canada...

042viber12, please what is the source of this your personal SOA of 5m news? This is the second time I'm seeing this today.

Dear Nairalander, I have been offered an admission to study at concordia University where test of English language is not required for Nigeria applicants. Can someone advise if I will be needing to write the test for the purpose of visa application. Please guru in the house.

To my own understanding, I don't think you need to. Since you have been offered an admission and it's not conditional, you're good to go.

Anyone here who applied for a university in Canada using NECO? I recently applied to University of Winnipeg and they reached back to me now that I need to provide the official NECO certificate instead of the one online. I reached out to NECO office and the last-released certificate batch was that of 2014. I really dont know how to go about this. Anyone with an idea?
NOTE:- The exam is NECO GCE (External)

Yeah, my friend ( a nairalander and web developer) called me two days ago and said he checked CIC website with one of his web testing tools and he noticed some activities (updates) going on.
I didn't believe it had anything to with study permit applications, until now.

Thanks a lot man!

It was yesterday!

Hello everyone, my name is Michael and I've been following this thread for some time now and I pray GOD intervenes into the matter of those still looking to get their visa issued. What brought me here is that I am looking to get my undergraduate degree in Canada be it diploma or BSc so I want to apply for some schools there. I already applied for a community college in the US and I've been accepted for the Summer program (this is a plan B as Canada is the main place I will like to study). As for my personal details, I graduated from Secondary School in 2016. I currently work remotely for a Software Agency based in Washington as a Web Developer for almost 18 months now and my salary is good. My brother and myself will be the one sponsoring this! He currently works at a Sahara-owned power company in Lagos; has also worked remotely for a US auto enthusiasts company that own and BUILD cars and bikes (I could have sponsored myself but I decided to include my brother also as I might not be able to afford the tuition for the whole 4 years). I applied for a US B1/B2 visa this year August and I got denied; I was meant to speak at a conference. To cut the lengthy post short, I am looking for a someone like a mentor to guide me through this whole study permit process. I hope to get response from someone very soon. Thanks in advance!

Good evening everyone, my mum's visa interview in Abuja was rescheduled to this Friday. The problem is that she can't find the print out of her original interview appointment. She sent an email to Support@ustraveldocs.com asking for assistance. They responded acknowledging they are aware her interview was rescheduled. That's all.
Please gurus in the house, what else can we do? The original interview confirmation is still showing in the "appointment history tab" on her profile.
Please help

You dont need to print out another appointment confirmation again. Just go with the one you printed earlier after picking a date. And yes, also go with the email printout of the appointment rescheduling that they sent. That’s all

I was at the US Embassy today and my visa was approved.

I want to give back to this forum that being very honest and not coming across as being desperate is key

I got a B1/B2 visa in 2016 which I never used till it expired, so I applied for a dropbox renewal and I was asked to appear for an interview.

Here is my transcript:

Me: Good morning ma'am

VO: Good morning. Pass me your passport please. (checked through the system and told me to go and do my fingerprints). I thought it wasn't necessary initially as I had done one before at my first application. Anyways, I went back for the fingerprints and returned to her.

VO: Where are you going to?

Me: Washington DC

VO: Why are you going to Washington DC?

Me: I'm going to attend the conference organised by the professional body which I belong to.

VO: Why did you not use the initial visa issued to you?

Me: A family issue came up few weeks to the event which made me to cancel the trip as I need to be with my family.

VO: So you worked for ZZZ Company...what's your job role?

Me: I'm the YYY for the company

VO: How long have you been working with the company?

Me: Four years

VO: How many branches does your company have now?

Me: I told her the number and when the last one was opened and where.

VO: How many days will the conference be?

Me: Five days. I mentioned the dates (Actually, it happened to be four days but I never envisaged that question being asked)

VO: Where will you be staying in Washington DC?

Me: I mentioned the hotel.

VO: Where is the conference taking place.

Me: I mentioned the place

VO: Do you have kids?

Me: Yes, I've got two...a boy and a girl

VO: Have you traveled out of Nigeria before?

Me: I've been to South Africa

VO: When did you travel to South Africa

Me: 2015

VO: You met all the requirements for the visa and I'm going to approve your visa

Me: Thank you!

VO: I hope you're going to make use of the visa this time around.

Me: Yes I will

She gave me a white paper to pick up in 2 working days.

There were lots of people at the embassy today, I was shocked at the number of people I saw there and many people got denied for obvious reasons. Many are so desperate that you could see it written all over them. I was like why are these people behaving like this?

I thank God Almighty for the success of my visa interview and I want to wish every potential visa applicants the best of luck!

If I may ask, where was the interview held? Lagos or Abuja?

You can not work and earn money on a visitors visa.No training or conference will last for a year, any money paid to you, accomodation paid for, food provided for you, or clothing as compensation for holding such bootcamp is termed as WORKING. You are just concerned about chances, when in actual fact you do not stand any if you don't apply for the appropriate visa first. There are half baked immigration attorney here in the USA, they just pass the state bar exam and know nothing about immigration matters.

Are you on WhatsApp? I will love to ask some questions please

I guess s/he meant not visitor visa for Leisure/Medical/Business (B1/B2) which permit only short stays (180 days max?). You should be searching for the thread on visas with work permits or educational visa. And perhaps details/application should originate from your boss in the US. Keep searching for the right thread/info. All the best.

Every details originated from my boss. We have an immigrant lawyer and the lawyer was the one who told us to go ahead with it that way. What are my chances?

Not a visitor’s visa

Why?

Hello everyone. I have an interview scheduled this august. I'm a web developer and I currently work remotely for a registered digital agency in the US. The company needs my presence over there because I am the lead developer and the main purpose of me going there is because we are holding bootcamps, workshops and training to teach people about programming in which I am the one to anchor the program. I will also be training interns after the bootcamps and workshops. My length of stay is 1 year which is the total coverage of how long I will be there. Salary is huge. My boss is the one sponsoring the trip. What are my chances and the questions likely to be asked?
