She walked into my room and
sat on my bed. I locked my
door and went to sit beside
her. though I was nervous but
I won't allow that to prevent
the tutorial from holding. if I
can't be confident enough to
be in the same room with
Sharon, how then can I be
confident to face a large crowd.
I need to make sure that the
tutorial goes smoothly. I won't
disappoint this time.

"can we start?" Sharon asked.

"yes, I'm ready" I responded.

She brought out a book and a
pen from her bag and gave to
me. I collected it from her and
began immediately. I spoke
confidently without being
nervous. After a while of
teaching, she moved closer to
me and rested her head on my
shoulder. I paused for a while,
took a deep breath and
continued. I fixed my gaze on
the book I was holding as I
tutored her. I didn't take my
gaze off the book. it was the
best way for me not to get
nervous. I continued that way
and later decided to asked her
a question, for the tutorial to
be interactive.

I asked her a question and
waited for her to answer but I
got no reply.
I asked the question again but
got no reply. I slowly raised
my head to see her staring
deeply into my eyes. cold
shiver went down my spine,
but I remained calm. I stared
back at her. I was really
nervous, but I didn't take off
my gaze from her. I don't want
her to realize I was nervous.
we kept staring into each other
eyes until she finally took her
gaze off. I heaved a sigh of
relief immediately. while I was
still trying to gain control of
myself, she turned back to me
and stared deeply into my
eyes. I could feel my heart
pounding in my chest as I
stared back at her. All of a
sudden, our faces drew closer
to each other. her lips were
almost touching mine. her
eyes were already closed, but
mine were wide open in
shock.

My door suddenly opened. I
quickly turned my gaze to the
door to see Sylvia standing at
the door. she stared at us
open-mouthed. Sharon quickly
sat up properly and adjusted
her blouse. Sylvia fixed her
gaze on us for a while before
she finally spoke.

"I'm very sorry for barging in.
I didn't know you guys are
busy. I will just take my leave
now" she said.

"Sylvia I........"

I tried to speak but she walked
out of my room, slamming the
door behind her. I quickly
stood up from my bed and
rushed out of my room but she
was no where to be found. I
returned to my room to see
Sharon already standing.

"maybe we should continue
tomorrow. let me leave for
now" she said.

"okay" I responded.
[/quote]

Op... it's a nice story which I am thoroughly enjoying. However I think the story can be more captivating if exageration is reduced a bit.
For example in the part I quoted. Christian actually locked the door and had that same locked door barged in by Sylvia. That doesn't add up
I suggest you consider that as you write further

Keep up the good job!!!

Religion / Re: Pastor Adeboye: “If You Buy A Car With Money You Didn’t Earn Lawfully..." by bolamp(m): 12:29am On Dec 06, 2017
MDGsVISIBLE:
When you go to church and feel the AC blowing through your wig into your skull, know that you are eating out of your tithe.…when the bass guitarists, the keyboardist and other guys on the drums are delivering some good music during praise and you’re dancing everywhere and removing your coat, uncle they pay those guys working for God, know that you are eating out of your tithe. … Most Sundays you don’t go to church because you depend on nepa to iron your cloths, it is the same thing in the house of God, we don’t depend on NEPA to power the church, we pay for fuel and diesel, so when you go to church today and enjoy uninterrupted worship, know that you are eating out of your tithe.… If you go to church to charge your phones and you grudge about tithe, well, your case is different. … When we invite Pst Nathaniel Bassey to lead you in worship to our God, it is not his trumpet he will eat when he goes back home after ushering the Holy Ghost into your life with his ministration, it is not halleluyah challenge his landlord will eat, we give them minister’s gifts to support the work God is also doing through them, it is the meat that you have stored in God’s house that we use to feed them. So when Travis Greene comes from the UK to raise the roof in praise and worship dance very well because it is your tithe. " Who deserves to live in lekki? The pastor that feeds you daily with God’s word or Timaya that adds nothing to your Christian faith? Who deserves to drive the best cars? Your pastor glorifying God or Iyanya winding waist with naked women glorifying mammon? One witch somewhere will just be vexing for nothing that we are giving to advance the kingdom, you grudge when asked to donate to a church project, you grudge when asked to pay tithe, you think it’s your squeezed 50naira that makes you comfortable in worship at church? Witches campaigning for people not to pay tithe to God when they cheerfully pay Millions for a table for 5 at AY shows. Witches!!!”
"The right perception to tithing"
(Please pause and read this)
I have tried so hard to avoid this tithing or no tithing debate, but It will be so ungrateful of me to keep quiet and watch some folk misunderstand a principle that gives me great peace.
I'm not going to quote a single scripture to defend this, if the Bible is too deep for us to understand, then maybe it is time we try common sense.
We don't tithe because we want to receive from God, we don't tithe to buy God's blessings, it is not a give and take something, it is not a trade by batter principle. God's blessings and favours comes upon us in a million amazing ways without giving a penny, most times the blessings we hardly take notice, He just loves us, unconditionally, whether we are giving to Him or not. He gave us Jesus without our consent, He sent His son at a time when we least deserved it, that's how much He has been giving to us without asking anything back in return.
I don't care about being under law, under grace or under mercy, I just love the Lord with all my heart, and with all that is within me. I give back a tenth of all that He gives to me not in an attempt to provoke Him to do more, but to maintain my local assembly. I tithe to ensure that there is meat in His house. I understand that it is His duty to maintain the spiritual needs of His house, but since He has given me the capacity to contribute to the physical and material needs of His house, I WILL.
It will be an insult to go to church one day and learn that pastor couldn't come because he went to work so he can pay his children's school fees. I tithe to make sure that my pastor's sermons are not influenced by hunger and lack.
It gives me great joy to know that my tithe contributes to the salaries of the staffs working night and day in God's house.
I tithe to ensure that God's properties are protected while I sleep very well in my house. I don't want to come back next service day to learn that thieves have stolen the church microphones and generator because we cannot hire security guards to keep watch.
If driving a good car helps my pastor spread the gospel across many towns and cities, I will tithe for him to buy a private jet so that he can fly everywhere and spread the gospel faster.
I tithe to maintain His house.
I tithe to finance the gospel.
I refuse to allow the under law and under grace debate make God look complicated to me. The Levite priests did not have electricity problem in their time, bad roads and traffic was not a problem to spreading the gospel, yet God's people were still giving to maintain God's house. It's still the same today, different scenarios.
If living in Lekki will make my pastor beat traffic and come early for service I will tithe for him to buy a house there. If living in banana island will make him accessible to God's people I will tithe to make it happen.
I tithe so that the generator will never lack diesel. I tithe because it will be uncomfortable for me to worship God in the hot heat with someone who has body odour, I tithe for God's house to have a good AC.
I tithe to enjoy the same quality of music people enjoy in the clubs and bars. I tithe for the church to have a good sound system. I tithe for the church to afford professional instrumentalists and sound engineers to make my worship experience more exciting.
I tithe for the church to continue giving bobo and popcorn to our kids in the children's church.
If my tithe is helping the outreach department take care of the poor and needy I will keep tithing.
If my tithe contributes to the logistics that will fly Bishop TD Jakes down here to give me a different dimension of the Word, I will keep tithing.
If my tithe makes the gospel concerts and word conferences FREE, I will keep tithing.
I tithe not as a batter to receive, it is not a means of exchange, how much can i really pay? I tithe to keep His house running so that I can always run there to refill and recharge.
So whether it is old testament, new testament or future testament, it is our duty to maintain our local assembly, and this is why I tithe cheerfully.
The best news is that you cannot take care of God's house and live in lack. It all comes back to us in different ways, pressed down, shaken together, and rolling over.
It's just common sense guys, just common sense.

Honestly, the reasons you gave for paying your tithe is very much valid. However these same reasons you quoted can be covered by offerings and voluntary donations to the upliftment of the house of God in appreciation for the good things you believe he is doing within and around you.
In summary, not paying tithes does not mean you shouldn't give to God, instead it gives you the freedom to make donations and offerings as your soul desires and not under any complusion just as the bible in the new testament encourages.

Futhermore, the task to spread the gospel is not for pastors alone everyone must be involved. Salvation is a personal race and not a church race, everyone is expected to be personally be active in the race for eternal life. The idea of sponsoring church outreaches to spread the gospel or caring for the needy and sick without you being involved personally is as good as deceiving yourself.

Giving and supporting Pastors is a good thing, however if this act of kindness can be extended directly to the least of thy brethren, the church will truly be more blessed.

Oh please can you quote it or explain it better? Please let's not throw insults just fair discussions....

Because you asked kindly, I will oblige with a quick summary.
The verse you quoted when you start reading from verse 9 basically is about a story given by Christ were he compared a biblical pharisee with an ordinary tax-farmer where the pharisee bragged to God about all the lawful things he did which included tithing wheras the tax farmer acknowledged that he was a sinner.
In the end God rebuked the pharisee and accepted the tax-farmer.
This shows that our heart towards the things of God is what he looks at.

If Jesus came to free us from tithing why did He say He tithes on all His possession in Luke 18:12? My advise is that you do your research yourself and stop relying on people to teach you the word of God..... Tithing has never been compulsory, God has given us humans the choice to make our decisions so make yours wisely.

It's obvious you are one of those that lead people astray. Are you even sure you read the verse you quoted properly??

Religion / Re: 10 Reasons You Must Tithe! by bolamp(m): 11:03am On Nov 05, 2017
9japrof:
Tithing is corruption in the church, tithing has ceased to exist, from the inception of Christianity, it has ceased

Tithing in the past was given to the levites tribe who never recieved landed inheritance among the twelve tribes of isreal. So Jehovah made provisions that they feed from every one tenth that was presented by the other tribes of Israel. They were priests by calling,(hereditary) and they never had any other job excepting helping in offering sacrifices on behalf of other Israelites in the temple.

What do we have now? Rouges in church robes, from the advent of Christianity, tithing ceased because the Hebrew nation(Judaism) lost God's favour and their worship no longer accepted, that is why today Christians no longer need to do animal sacrifices to appease God, so since no animal sacrifices, do you need the priest for the sacrifices?

Check out the Christian Greek Scriptures(New Testerment) there were no indications that tithing arrangement continued after the prior, during or after the death of Jesus Christ. Contributions were only made to take care of needs of the congregation or during a disaster. There were no indications that the apostles of those times profited from the gospel, Peter continued in his fishing business, Paul after dumping his law profession learnt tent making to support himself materially and so were many disciples. They never collected tithes or contributions from their congregation for their personal use or consumption

Let's assum Paul who was a missionary back then was like the stupid greedy money conscious rouge pastors of today, he would have lorded it over the congregation back then to contribute and buy him a luxury ship, he can always use to sail for his missionary journeys, but no he boarded merchant ships even under the harshest of weather and boarding conditions and there were no indications whatsoever that the congratulations paid for those trips.

All pastors who collect tithes and convert to personal gains are rogues, criminals any name you deserve to give them. What they practice is corrupt form of Christianity
During Bible times, people whom God used for miracles never collected "kickbacks" for doing such miracles, neither did they profit from their spiritual work. Gehazi one of of Elishas servants who collected a gift gifted by Naaman that was rejected by Elisha previously was struck with leprosy. If Jesus Christ, his disciples and apostles of Bible times rejected gifts and self enrichment from the gospel, who the hell are these rogues to do otherwise.

Church contributions should be for maintenance of facilities and for disaster relieve and not into some useless pastors pockets for consumption. This confirms that their powers for operation are not even from God because when God gifts You a gift, maybe healing, prophesy etc and you misuse it, he takes back that power from you, but we see pastors all over the world eating fat while deceiving the congregation with false teachings of tithing. Pastorism now is a profession, where one goes for a course like it's tertiary education, qualifies opens a church while being lazy and the congregation keeps feeding him fat from their poor donations.

SIf Jesus were to visit physically churches of today, what will be his reaction today? When he sees the commercialism that goes in the church today, where all sorts of financial and economic messages are passed in the church while diluting the message about the kingdom of God and salvation( MMM was actively preached in the church by many pastors, Google the pictures are there in the internet). If Jesus was to be physically present in the church, what would be his reaction when he sees that different sections of church are being called out to carry their monetary donations in their hands and come out to recieve prayers according to the amounts one contributes( different prayer for 10 million, 5 million, 1 million, 10,000 and 100 naira donors).
What would be Jesus reaction to find out that PoS machines are now being pass round the church to ensure that you must drop money, even if you claim that you don't have physical cash, no wonder quite a number of people save themselves the embarrassment of going to church if they are broke.
Lemme tell you what Jesus would have done if he were physically present in any church and see the commercialism in the church, he would still do the same thing he did in the temple back then when he overturned the table of money exchangers, and claimed that the house of his father was for worship, while they have converted it as a den of robbers. What is now been done in churches are even worse now.

Now is time to take a step, a commercial church can never be from God, if it were, God would have taken back his power and support from them. Miracles that commercial churches do can never be from God, else when they recieve "kickbacks" for the healings they do, God would have withdrawn that ability to heal from them, meaning these churches that collect kickbacks and still continue healing collect their powers from a different source.

Now is the time to sit at home, do an honest research of the scriptures, do an honest and fervent prayer to God that you want to know the truth and serve him in a way and manner HE wants. He will surely answer your prayers

I like your assertion.
Furthermore, the glory of a church should be judged by the knowledge and values the members have been able to benefit from the scriptures and not the size of structure, number of branches or the bank account of their leaders while their fold is filled with baby Christians.

As for this singer,I was trying to read where he mentioned or quoted any scripture to back his claim unfortunately, he ended up saying the same thing most pastors tell the congregation every day about tithe....

Many pastors or ministers know the truth about tithing....many ministers know that the tithing in d bible is totally different from what they teach....

Many pastors know that freeze is saying the truth....They are just surprised how such "revelation" can come from a so called talkative OAP instead of such coming from a preacher or minister or pastor!!

True talk; They should be matching fact from fact instead of playing the emotional card. Freeze was factual in his claim. Counter argument should come with facts; otherwise keep quiet

A private jet will boost his evangelism ministry around the world. Tell me whats wrong in church members donating to acquire a product that will hasten their pastor's global tours. a renowned pastor keneth copeland has given out over 26 jets as far back as year 2009 as gifts to different pastors.

This man is a very humble pastor and still attends the annual shiloh program at canaanland to get more wisdom and as a sign of respect for his spiritual father. So my dear OP, haters will always talk and its better to just ignore them.

PS:
If you pity poor pastors then dont hate rich pastors. its better to be envied that to be pitied in life. Poverty is not holiness. Infact poverty is the root of most evil in our society. May God give you the wisdom to renew your mind...

I will not attempt to outrightly criticitize some flaws in your write up. However I will pose a question to you.
Do you honestly believe that the call to win souls for God was given to just one man that he will require a private Jet to meet the enormous task?

A lot of us are good in criticising others while the evil in our own bosom are concealed jealously.

If giving my pastor who rides in a Limo half of my salary is a source of Joy and happiness to me though I dont have a bicycle whose headache is it. Call it madness call it foolishness as long as it gives me joy and happiness what concerns anyone.

Its like when an extremely handsome guy who is rich is dating a girl who is not only poor but also ugly and his friends and family are going mad over it.
Whose headache? If that is the person he derives joy being with then let it be.

If anyone thinks thousands of thousands of his church members are fools and are being used then that person must be mentally unstable. If you dont know by now that there is something positive all these multitude are deriving that makes them wanna give and give then you are high on something.

I and my young pastor brother were discussing this issue one day and this is the way he put it.
He told me a story of when he was an assistance pastor to a now big pastor in the late 80s. They had a crusade to attend in Ilorin and they set off from Ibadan. The car of the senior pastor was a reckety volkswagen beatle on their way the car broke down in the middle of the bush. Time was fast aproachin for the start of the crusade and the pastor was one of the officiating ministers. The man had to leave my brother to stay with the vehicle and he joined a motorbiker to Ilorin. My brother slept alone in the bush with the car. He now asked if he sacrificed all that in those days and now he has a wealthy member who buys him a Limo. Those who didnt see his surfering that time would come around to criticise him. What about the senior pastor who rode on bike to Ilorin.

It realy concerns nobody what the congregations buy for their pastors or what the church uses the churchs money to do.

I know of a pastor serving under Oyedepo who had an assignment to do at Abuja from Ibadan. He boarded a plane from Ibadan. A young man he knew from no where stood up from his seat behind came to his seat and asked "Sir are you a pastor" the man answered jokingly "do I look like one" the guy said "something tells me you are one" and the pastor said "Yes Im a pastor I serve under Bishop Oyedepo" the guy said " Sir can I have your card" and the pastor said Im not a business man I dont carry a card . In short the guy ended up getting his number and the following day called and asked for his bank details the next thing the man of God would hear was alert.

How much?

20million cool cash.

There are ppl with legit business that are stinkingly rich and dont k.now what to do with money and God sends one to you will you say No?

Lets just becareful how we judge ppl. Thats my take.

I am of a similar opinion that when a man/pastor is called to service of God he shouldn't wallow in poverty... .he should be cared for and his basic needs to a somewhat average level be supplied.... The problem I have and I think most people have is when this same Pastor that preaches "the kingdom of God is at hand" begins to accummulate wealth/worldly properties for his 4th and 5th generation instead of bringing souls to the one who sent being his major concern. At that point, his call to service will therefore be put under scrutiny.

Must we bring tribal sentiments into everything we do in this country. Just as we all have freedom to vote and campaign for our favourite contestant in the BBN house so does the Governor also.
BBN is not a tribal or ethnic war!!!

To be very honest... the way the votings are going, its clear people vote on bias and not performance. For instance you keep hearing Efe! Efe!! Efe!!! Everywhere, you finally get to watch the dude and you realise he's one of the least entertaining.
My opinion ... if a voting is cast based on performance and not on the "Efe the warri boy" not like he even stays in the warri. That dude will come last.

Please speak for yourself... Pastors are supposed to be role models to the soceity... and when allegations are made against them, we should allow them speak for themselves... not just rush into taking sides
