Islam › Re: How Do A Muslim Leave Life In Islamic Ways And Enjoy Life In Nigeria by Boldstar(m): 1:29pm On Dec 16, 2016 |
sino: As a muslim in nigeria, you can live and enjoy your practice of the religion very well. There are few obstacles though, but a ready solution if you want to take things to a very strict level. My principle is basically Allah's statement, fear Allah as much as you can(Q64:16), the hadith of the prophet(saw) whiich states: verily, the religion is easy, and no one should try make it difficult unless it overburdens the person... Then i work mostly on my circle of influence, looking inward and try to be a better muslim everyday. Very well said. Looking inwards at every moment, reflecting on my actions and inactions has been what has kept me up in Islam. By this, masha Allaah, I try to be a better muslim everyday. That said, for the difficulties in Nigeria or elsewhere, we should always remember that Allah will ONLY and ALWAYS judge our actions according to our intentions. Seeing half-dressed women everyday does not culminate as sin. It becomes a sin when you WANT or INTEND to see half-dressed women. Same for every other difficulties |

malton: Lol.
First off, congrats on your successful enlistment, OP.
Note, however, that this does not in the slightest way indicates that Nigeria is headed in the right direction.
Thing is, irrespective of how greedy a man is, he doesn't toy with his safety. Much as having it all to him self is a goal all those gluttons share in common, they usually go for the best hands when it comes to their safety.
Case in point: When it comes to hiring a pilot, expertise and experience trumps all else, including religion and ethnicity. This is because they are very well aware that no matter how well your tribesman means for you, chances are that he may crash you someday if he has limited knowledge in such areas.
As a matter of fact, them hiring the best brains is an indication of continuing corruption.
They have felt the heat much more lately, so, have come to realize the importance of security in their kleptocratic lives. This is a demonstration of their desire to feel even more secure than the Fort Knox so that they can enjoy the proceeds of their loot in peace.
If not;
Why didn't merit matter when it came to CBN and FIRS?
Why have their kit and kin been employed into FIRS, and are on their second salaries while others have yet to be called for interviews?
Why do their children still get jobs to which openings weren't advertised?
Why do government officials fall over themselves when it comes to securing juicy appointments for their wards?
Millions of questions to ask, but the long and short of the story is that, the number of thieves and potential thieves has increased exponentially, hence the need to hire the children of the poor who have a reputation of being focused on the job to guide they and theirs.
Your case is the positive effect of a bad practice. And I'm happy for you! Another perspective, one which I cannot disagree with. I have been thinking why every recruitment does this year was 'the usual Nigerian way' while the NPF recruitment wasn't. FIRS, CBN, even Airforce were all shams. There was no way someone who didn't know 'anyone' could have been selected. Where is the hope for the common man? Without using merit to pick candidates for school admission or job employment, this country will keep going in circles. So the big men and madams put their children in juicy jobs like CBN and FIRS while they allow merit employment for the jobs that will protect those with juicy jobs. There is God |

PatrickOkunima: @ Boldstar: It has to do with the person at the helms of affairs. Some Heads of government establishments leave little or no room for merit. I don't know who is in charge of recruitment into the police, PSC or IG, whoever he is or they are, they have proved to Nigerians that it is possible to secure a government job without one having a "long leg". I hope others will learn from this. I really hope so too. It is a big step in restoring the faith most Nigerians have lost in Nigeria |
Jobs/Vacancies › Is The NPF Recruitment A Real Sign Of Nigeria Truly Changing? by Boldstar(op): 11:17am On Dec 07, 2016 |
Yesternight, I decided to check the nairaland FP topics as usual before I go to bed. I saw the topic that says NPF recruitment list is out. Relunctantly, with the mind that the exercise was a sham like the other gov't recruitment exercises this year, I clicked on the link to check the list. Voila, I saw my name gbagada . I thought I was dreaming because I knew no one nor did I give my details to anyone. I immediately checked the name of my friend who knew a former IG and the personal aide to a present AIG. Alas, his name was not there . Everyone who knew him already thought he'd be selected because of the way the police treated him well at the screening exercise. He was intelligent and he 'knew people'. But he wasn't selected. This morning I also heard many other people giving testimony that they knew no one but got selected. The report was that the selection was strictly through merit. If it continues this way, the best people for the job will be chosen and the result can only be progress. This led to my question. My people, na true say we country don dey change for good?

Politics › Re: Zahra Buhari Gets Customized LV Marriage Boxes From Indimi Family (photos/video) by Boldstar(m): 1:55pm On Nov 29, 2016 |
Tequilah: That is the way it has always been in the far North. Very few couples get married, because of love. Marriages are arranged by the families, and the girl or prospective bride, usually has very little say in it. Among the educated families, they will probably ask the girl for her consent, on the person that has been chosen for her.
If she refuses, they put pressure on her slowly, gently but inexorably to change her mind, and get her consent. Some families have been known to threaten to disown their kids for refusing to get married to the person chosen for them.
That is the way it has always been. In the South, people get married out of love. But in the North, most people get married out of a sense of duty. Only very few have the priviledge of getting married out of love. Correct! Reason why their divorce rate is highest in Nigeria |
Politics › Re: Zahra Buhari Gets Customized LV Marriage Boxes From Indimi Family (photos/video) by Boldstar(m): 1:54pm On Nov 29, 2016 |
HungerBAD: I want to believe in this marriage.
But common sense tells me this is a coming together of two families, sealing a business deal with their kids coming together in marriage as a surety.
Powerful people getting married to each other.
Two Dynasty coming together. HungerBAD but you should know that's what 99% of rich and powerful northerners do. They use marriage to forge ties. They only marry themselves. The kids who they marry off can do nothing about it. That is why the rich and powerful northerners have the highest divorce rate when compared with the rich and powerful from other regions. In fact, I don't think there is any region in this country with a divorce rate as high as that of the northern Nigeria, whether rich or poor. |

CoolFreeday: what nonsense! You didnt say anything is wrong with the document, you didn't say if some things that are suppose to be there are not there and vice versa, They just say the document is in disarray and unrealistic, meaning what? So if senators are not given bribe they will not do their work effectively?
#Bunch of corrupt old people! Did you read what the MTEF contains? I am Buhari man but his MTEF document is truly unrealistic. He pegged dollar exchange at N290/1$ when official exchange is at N310/$1 and parallel market is at N470/$1. What magic does his cabinet want to perform to bring that down before Jan 2017? The projected GDP growth in the document wasover 3% when we're currently facing a negative GDP growth at -2.24%. If the presidency knows their ilk they should tell us the magic they want to perform to turn a -2.24% GDP decline to over 3% GDP growth. Nigeria has gotten to a stage where we all have to be objective with some issues irrespective of our political affiliations. I am a Buhari guy but his MTEF document is very unrealistic |

Jobs/Vacancies › How To Check If You Were Selected In The Npower Scheme by Boldstar(op): 5:02pm On Nov 21, 2016 |
I realized many people did not even know they have been selected in the npower scheme because they do not know how to check their selection status. No email nor text message was sent to the successful candidates. Below are 3 quick ways to check if you have been selected 1. Visit https://portal.npower.gov.ng Then, click 'SELECTION LIST' on the top of the page. Input the phone number you used for registration in the box provided for 'Quick Search Use your Phone number'. This will tell you if you have been selected or not 2. After clicking 'SELECTION LIST', go to the state you put in to work and click. The names are many. So to search your name, press Ctrl and F buttons together. Type your first name or surname and your name will be searched out. 3. Visit https://portal.npower.gov.ng/apply/states/ogun.phpSubstitute the name of your state with 'ogun' above. For instance if I was from Bayelsa state, I will visit https://portal.npower.gov.ng/apply/states/bayelsa.php Then continue with Number 2 as stated above. Goodluck to those picked. You shall move from a pay of 30k to 300k in the shortest possible time

Funnicator: Shattap. The FG of Nigeria never hid it's subtle support for the Democrat-led Executive Arm of US Presidency. Losing it to the Republicans means goal post don change!!
Just be sure that old things have passed away and all things become new. Buhari will no longer receive the support he's been receiving in America. Trump is pro-Putin as Putin is pro-Iran. Nigeria is anti-Iran, that's why Iran HQuartered Shiite Muslims are killed daily in Kaduna.
Connect the Dots and realize Buhari must now be on his toes. Trump-Putin-Iran. You obviously don't know the Russia-America rivalry history. Trump can never be pro-Putin or pro-Iran. He does not have the information now because he isn't president yet. You'll see out it plays out when he is sworn in and all information dumped on his lap. Just wait and see how it plays out after his inauguration. |

You must have treated him with kids gloves all these years for him to deteriorate to this stage. Better late than never. Teach him sense! Talk sense to him and if he dare raise an arm against his father, get SARS to arrest him and teach him lesson for one week. After he is released, find a job for him, give him enough money for rent and ask him to get an accommodation within 3 days. If he doesn't after collecting the money, boot him out.
Teach him sense now or he will never learn |
