Health / Help!! I Need Natural Eczema Cure To Stop Extreme Itchiness And Dryness For Kids by Boliboli760: 10:24am On Apr 28
Hello mums and dads in the house. Has anyone ever faced the challenge of extreme itchy eczema on their kids and was able to find a natural solution? Wanting to avoid steroids based on steroid cream withdrawal experience. Also steroid creams don't stop itchiness. Shea butter seems to be very drying. Agunmu naru has not cured it either.

So please if you have been in this situation and you found a natural cure to stop itchiness and eczema. Please share, what you used, your processes, challenges and how long it took to get results. Are you still using those things? Did you change your child's diet? And any other things you did. Thank you

Will appreciate reply on solutions only so we don't clog up the thread.

I understand, not everyone has a blood pressure machine. In cases like this, the hospital told her to come for regular checkup to see if her blood pressure has gone down. I am simply saying ,she should keep an eye on it whenever it is checked to make sure the resting and herbs she uses are working well. So she will know the things that are working for her and stick to it.

Doctors are humans, just like everyone else. They have personal bias just like everyone else. The earlier we understand this, the better for us all.

As a pregnant woman, do your research and do things that are good for you. Why can't the doctor recommend things you can do to help with your blood pressure? Why offer induction? When they know fully well that a failed induction can lead to CS. Why offer to put chemicals , artificial product into your body as the one and only option ?

Induction involves them putting artificial products into your body or breaking your waters. The first intervention can lead to more and more intervention that can lead to having a CS. In many cases, if you don't go into labour simply means your body is simply not ready for labour.

Please I might not respond or go back and forth as I don't want to disturb the flow of the forum. I appreciate your opinion, because we don't comprehend somethings doesn't make it a lie or misleading. You can contact me with my signature if you want to converse further.

how on earth will she keep an eye on blood pressure, wot if she no get machine to constantly check her Bp, then I don't know why u will be advising a pregnant woman to go against her Doc. Advice....na wa o

To be honest I know where you are coming from and I have once had the same mentality that you have now. It is like telling a student not to listen to their teacher. We believe so much in the institutions and we forget they are humans and depend alot on machines. So I am not surprised by what you have typed. All that I am typing requires a level of understanding. It is 2 things, it is either you get it or you don't get it.
If you don't get it, that is fine. But I implore you and everyone to seek for knowledge. Knowledge is power, knowledge can make you understand things deeper and clearer. Deep knowledge is not a popular opinion, but it is the truth.

futuremoma34:
so you mean, she should not follow her doctor recommendation? The other day you told a mama that you gave birth virginal after 3cs and you told her nothing will happen. How you mislead people in this forum Just to cause traffic in this platform is terrible. Please stop the lies

You will be absolutely fine if you don't go for induction. Keep an eye on your blood pressure, rest, drink and use safe natural remedies.

Please watch the above video, we talked about it.

Rusa:
I am team January. All my scans and test were pretty ok till Teusday. Got High blood pressure reading of 150/90. Surprisingly, I had no headache. No pain, nothing. I am also a FTM and not in Nigeria. My gynaecologist want an induction but I wish to have a normal labour, so we are watching it. There’s no protein in my urine, blood test is superb, but I am guessing the HBP is hereditary.

I will be 39 weeks gone tomorrow, tomorrow I go for monitoring to see how baby is doing.

Great testimonies awaits us all. Amen

Happy New year to my dear Mamas and Papas. Here are few preggo New year resolutions for you all.
- Induction because you are past EDD,especially before EDD or because of the baby size are not a medical emergencies or necessary. Say No if you don't want it.
- Yes, you can say NO to cervical checks.
it is not necessary, especially if it is more than once or twice especially during labour.
- No need to rush to hospital, labour at home.
- Your due date is an estimation, the most important thing is to prepare. Fill your time with positive and fun things.

Good evening everyone, pls I need ur help am almost due for delivery but d last scan I did said d aminiotic fluid is too much. Who as experience dis and how did u go Abt it. Thank you

I had the same experience and I had my baby over 2 weeks past the given EDD with no issues. I asked questions afterwards and non of the doctors or midwife could give me any tangible answers. One said it was only over by like 1%, I was like why tell me then if there is nothing to worry about. What I discovered was, the machine gives them a reading and they interpret it the best way they know how during that time. Each interpretation is based on individual understanding. Also, they try to tell you all the stuff so they can fill your mind with many things. So when they offer you induction or even CS, they will back it up with all these unnecessary information and you feel obliged to go for it.

Whenever they give you a result, always pick their brain further. That is when you will see that some of the information on the paper are documentation for hospital record and some are misreadings from their machine. And they will tell you they never told you their machines were 100% accurate.

I will say, for every pregnant woman on here, focus on yourself and your strength. And don't be alarmed by everything on the paper, but work hard to prevent any problems. Go to the hospital when any MEDICAL EMERGENCY arise. Not giving birth on EDD is not a medical emergency and your tired is tired is not a medical emergency and so many other small small things.

Hello! How are you doing?
Did you want us to send our stories personally to you or you are just requesting for permission to use the stories on your blog?
You can use my birth story on your blog as I know it will be useful to someone out there.

@mommafertile I'm doing well, thank you. I hope you are too. You are right, it will be very useful. I appreciate your consent, and I extend my gratitude to everyone who has reached out.

Afribirther encompasses a blog covering a wide range of topics from pregnancy to babies to family, a forum for open discussions, education, questions, and venting, and a podcast delving into deep topics. Although still in its early stages, I believe it will become a valuable archive.

For those who wish to share their stories personally, I've provided my email and Instagram. Currently, only 2023 birth stories are uploaded on the forum, and I invite anyone with 2023 or earlier birth stories to connect. I recently created a PODCAST for us to discuss and dissect our birth stories, share experiences, lessons learned, and more. I'd love to have you on board, so feel free to reach out whenever you can.

You can share your birth story via the provided email, through direct message on Instagram, or ideally, by adding it to your birth month topic or opening a new topic on the website forum.

Like I did say in the qouted post that our baby arrived yesterday and we were billed to be discharged today's afternoon.

Unfortunately, our precious gift developed high temperature yesterday night. Wifey noticed it when she wanted to breastfeed him.
And in a blink of an eye, he developed a difficult in breathing. We thought it was a cold and a nurse used nose extractor on him. Yes, small muccour particles were removed from his nostrils but his breathing rate became more scary. You know that kind of breathing that comes with noice as if one just finished a long race. This went on till this morning.

The doctor, on his arrival, did try to salvage the situation but no improvement. The temperature came down to normal level bit the breathing difficulty continue. He hurriedly reffered us to UCH (Peadeartrics A&E) and my boy has been under O2 since afternoon.

Buying of 02, payment for series of Lab Tests, buying of long list of materials from pharmacy etc. Wifey is emotionally down already! She's combining the pains of tears she had plus the fact that her baby will be away from her for as long as God knows. I am not also fine but just trying to be a man.

God please come to our aid ooo

Sending your family my prayers, look forward to reading your good news soon. God almighty will continue to be your strength. Oluwaashetan....

Basically what I did was incorporate it into my lifestyle. Instead of thinking of it as a cure or remedy, think of it as this is what your stomach needs at this moment to keep it settled . As your body changes, you try to adapt and adjust your diet to your current body needs. Instead of eating 3 large meals, you eat small meals 5or 6 times instead. Adjust your diet to what your stomach can accept.

- Put lemon, ginger & mint ( you can add 1 or 2 clove) in a pot of water and bring it to boil. I usually make in a big pot and store it in the fridge. Let it sit there for a while and try drink it first thing in the morning and continue drinking it regularly 2 or 3 times a day / when you feel like. Drinking it daily.

It is actually in the YouTube video in the post along with many other tips. Try to listen to it whenever you are less busy.

Form the habit of listening to positive educative pregnancy podcasts and YouTube videos. Not the medical advice pregnancy videos ( only do that if you have a specific medical condition or speak to your doctor about the medical condition) . I know there are very few of such videos that we Africans can relate to but try to pick the one that applies to you. Positive pregnancy affirmations can get you through some rough days.

Folaglo:
Thanks everyone for your advice and words of encouragement. I sincerely appreciate it.

Boliboli760 I went through the slides. Please how do I use lemon, ginger, and mint for the morning sickness?

Good morning everyone, pray we are all doing well with family. Congratulations to the mamas and papas in the house, and the mamas and papas still enjoying the bliss of pregnancy please continue to work and pray hard to get the non-traumatic birth experience you deserve.

I am tagging some mamas and papas in the house who have shared their super amazing birth stories in 2023 to join me on Afribirther podcast. This is for us to converse on experiences, lesson learnt, advice, learn, gist on anything and everything. I think it would be beneficial for present and future generations in Nigeria and across Africa to establish a robust online repository for our collective birth and family narratives. I tried sending messages privately on nairaland but it seems you can't send a personal message to individuals on the forum.

P.S.: If you incorporated a birth story before 2023 or didn't have the opportunity to share your birth story when your baby arrived, and you now wish to share your experiences or engage in discussions, I would truly appreciate hearing from you.

I know the medical professionals in the house might not agree cos they stick to their statistics and thier medical books. Vaginal tears can be prevented and can be reduced significantly. Position you birth matters, position you labour in matters. Internal lubrication, drinking ewedu, okra water, ewe abiwere and much more while in first stage of labour and active labour contribute to your birth success. We need to start to understand how birthing works and how we can help ourselves achieve less traumatic or totally untraumatic birth.

Please I have an issue I need answers for. I went for scan yesterday I was told my baby is breech at 27 weeks. Please what can I do to turn the baby before the due date am afraid already. Please help

Their machine is just telling you what position your baby was at that time. Do you know how many somersaults your baby had done before and after that. Babies change positions in the belly, it's all part of the process. However, it is a good information to have and what you do with it, is what matters.

I have put together these for you and everyone else interested, check it out: https://afribirther.org/forum/topic/my-baby-is-breech-at-27-weeks-please-help/#postid-84

One thing the western forums and blogs have is proper documentation. That is why we see their stories everywhere online and we draw inspiration from them. As Africans we need that too, share a little more details to pass knowledge, inspire or basically just share experiences. We can also type our stories on AI( https://bard.google.com/, https://magicwrite.netlify.app/ ) to help you with typos and rewrite your sentences.

Bs!! Bs!!Bs!!
The summary of our birth story is...Gracified !
Pregnancy journey was quite eventful. My mouth was constantly salivating, couldn't keep food down in the 1st trimester,so i fed majorly on fruits(ah! water melon, mango, cucumber and garden egg came to the rescue). To control saliva when at work or in public,I had olive fruit in my mouth until it stopped working for me. But through it all, I enjoyed good health.
Did I mention I could not stand smells?(Good smell). This lasted till after delivery self.
Fast forward to 35 weeks, started having off and on contractions and I was happy, thinking it's a sign that baby wants to come early unlike my previous pregnancy that lasted for 41weeks and few days. But I guess my mind was playing on me.
Went for antenatal on the 24th of October and after I was attended to, the matron said she would advice I do a membrane sweep to force start labour. According to her the scan I did at 36 weeks shows that baby is already 3.6kg, and I am now 39 weeks(three weeks after scan, baby would have gained more weight) + my first baby weighed 3.9kg so there is every possibility that this baby will also be big or even bigger. ( The shalaye is sha too much). So immediately she met with the Dr...she explained her reasons for her decision to the Dr and the both saw reasons. Who are my to say no! Besides the idea of putting to birth soonest made so much sense cause I was already tired.
Membrane sweep was done around 9:30 am that same day. I was asked to go home and return for observation in 4hrs. By the time I returned to the hospital around 1:30pm.I was 3cm gone already. I thought it was good progress. The midwife sha did another membrane sweep again and wanted to admit me since the progress is fast but I declined. So was told to return in another 4hrs if contractions is bearable. When I got to the hospital around 6pm, I was told I was still at 3cm and this could even be false and just be an opening as a result of hand entry for the sweep.( At this point I was not finding the back and forth drama funny.I was having contractions and the intensity was on an increase yet you are telling me you are not sure what I am feeling is genuine. At this point, the asked that if labour does not progress in the cause of the night,I should do a biophysical scan and bring the result to the hospital the following day. The outcome of the result will determine if the can induce me or will do a Ceserean section to bring baby out.
When I returned home that night, the discomfort was on a high,so I decided to walk around. Did this for more than 2hours and finally went to bed. At a point, it seemed the whole contractions buhaha stopped and I was getting worried already. At about 4 am in the morning, contractions returned in full force. Was having 2 contractions in 5 minutes, membrane ruptured after the 1st four contractions, immediately I saw mucus plug. I knew we needed to be on our way to the hospital. Yet, I didn't want to get there too early(I felt I have had enough varginal examinations already). When we finally arrived the hospital around 4:30 am, I was told I was 7cm dilated. The speed at which the were attending to me,I thought baby would be out in less than 10 minutes but that was not the case.
When I finally got to 10 cm,I was told that my lip was yet to give way,so I should hold on and try as much as possible not to push. My dear, this was the hardest part, because the pain was almost unbearable. I was at this point for almost 15 minutes.
Finally at 6:12am, our bundle of joy came forth, in a melodious tune and at that moment I forgot the whole pain I was feeling or had felt. Placenta followed 8 minutes later. Grace started it,Grace sustained it and Grace completes it!
Wishing every preggy on this group safe and easy delivery. Cappo Sunbestie, bs submitted!

Afternoon everyone. Congratulations to everyone that have had their lovely babies and to the preggo mamas, you are almost there. To all that TTC and that have gone through losses, my you experience blessings beyond your wildest dreams. For all sharing their BIRTH STORIES, we don't know how much impact we are making. But these stories are really encouraging and very inspiring.

I have copied all 2023 Birth stories, it wasn't easy. That is the reason why I created the public forum, https://afribirther.org/. To have things well organised, so other pregnant mamas can have access to the stories without having to find them. Please if you shared your story on here in 2023 and you don't want me to share, kindly let me know. I tried to reach out to different accounts on here, but as you all are aware, there is no direct messaging on nairaland. Which makes it difficult to contact each other online.

Please, mamas with October , November and future dates, if you can please upload on the forum www.afribirther.org it will be much appreciated. You can also send it to reachout@afribirther.org . Each month have their own forum thread, I made the website user friendly and you can easily message other mamas.

If you want to be a contributor, please get in touch too. Keeping busy doing something positive during pregnancy and after birthing can be quite fulfilling and therapeutic.

LagracedeDieu:
BS! BS! BS!

A little journey down to 2020

We got married in 2020. We had our plans on childbirth. We wanted to wait for 3 months before starting a family. After those 3 months, we started trying and nothing was forth coming. It was a loonnnnngggggg journey!

Different hospital visits and appointments. Different tests, scans, etc. The overall outcome remains - nothing was wrong with both of us.

I was placed on different types of drugs - the side effects of those drugs were crazzzzyyyy.

I was gifted a book by my wonderful colleague (former) - Supernatural Childbirth. I read the book, digested it, made the confessions therein almost everyday.

One of the longest periods of a woman's life is waiting for the next cycle to see if she'll at least miss her period. The wait is always LONG!

Each time my period came, was always an emotional time for myself and hubby but along the line, my faith in God was built and I wiped my tears and told the devil ENOUGH! I'll not cry again! That was it!

Was it easy? NOOOOOOO! Not when people who got married after you are pregnant, giving birth left, right and center and the people are asking all manner of questions.

In all these, I had people who were genuinely praying for us and encouraging us - the "bestest" gift!

2021 - nothing! Not even a missed or delayed period!
2022 - same story!

Early 2023, I got a new job with better pay and work experience, so, I made up my mind to focus on the new job, I made up my mind to be more committed in the house of God and other plans to achieve.

Early February, I saw what I thought was blood stain so I went to get pad. The following day, nothing came, meanwhile, I was already feeling the normal PMS so, I thought to myself maybe the delay is due to stress from my new job. Waited for 2 more days and nothing!

I bought PT strip, did the test and saw one thick line and a small faint line - I did not know what to feel!

Repeated it the following day - same thing! I did not tell my husband all along. I snapped it and sent to my sister. She started rejoicing but I was skeptical. I did not want my hopes to be raised unnecessarily.

2 days later, did blood test and shocked shocked shocked I was PREGNANT! Unbelievable! I did not know what to feel!

Valentine's Day celebration was close, I wanted to make it as a surprise announcement to my husband but. . . I could not wait grin

Told my husband that same night. It was emotional! We prayed, thanked the Lord and committed the journey of 9 months into his hands!

Indeed, God is faithful! Was the journey smooth? Not really but grace for the whole 9 months was supplied. I enjoined divine strength that sometimes I would have forgotten I'm carrying a child not until I feel tired, I'll have to remind myself to slow down.

1st trimester was a bit bumpy - nausea, tiredness, etc

2nd trimester was the easiest - I just dey fine, dey glow any how.

3rd trimeter - I was always tired but I enjoyed God's strength!

Labor and childbirth
Contractions started on the 12th of October - on and off. Went to work came back. Same thing on the 13th. I came back from work, entered the market to buy stuff, made egusi soup we had dinner. By few minutes past ten, the contractions were getting stronger by the minutes, I was thinking, I could manage it but hubby said we should head to the hospital.

Got there few minutes past 11pm, I was checked and I was just 2 cm. But the pains were not funny. I was there and from time to time, a nurse will come and check how far. It got to 6cm and then 8cm and then, my water was broken.

By 10am in the morning I was taken into the delivery room. I was told what to do but my brain was not processing anything because I was already tired and weak!

Time to push, I kept trying to push but it seems my strength was failing me - God bless the midwives! They were encouraging! THey kept praying for me!

My husband! Oh! God gave me the best of his sons! He was there all through - praying and encouraging me on! I don't know what I'll do without this great man!

After sometime of pushing, our princess arrived on the 14th of October at 12:56pm weighing 3.6kg.

In all, my heart is filled with gratitude to God for this wonderful gift.

Looking at her face as I type this morning, all I can say is God's word will always come to pass no matter what. She is a fulfilment of God's word for my husband and I.

I pray for those TTC, you'll carry your babies soonest!

All pregnant mommas, you'll deliver safely, without unnecessary stress.

I see you all

Hello Everyone. I decided to host @afribirther first Instagram live and you are all(moms &dads) invited tonight. African pregnancy discussion for Africans by Africans. So we can discuss about ewedu, ose abiwere, okra, ewe abiwere , medical terms , hospital procedures, birthing

Please DM me any questions, especially first time moms. I might know a thing or two, or help you ask other experienced moms.

What does one say to console a lady who just lost expected twins to a miscarriage?

I personally don't think anything can be said to be honest. I think you should let your actions speak in this situation. Be present, be attentive, be loyal and simply try to do what she ask for. Try not to involve 3rd party if she doesn't want them. This is an opportunity to be close and weather the storm. I think you will find the video of Adesua and Banky W useful.
