It is possible.

Have u wondered why will someone score 295 last year not gain admission and have to retake the exam this year? I mean his last year result shows he scored 295 and picked Unilag and LASU as first and second choice respectively.

Did he fail Post Utme last year ? If yes, what makes u think he can’t fail this year JAMB ?

Anybody can get expo to pass JAMB with high mark and fail post UTME afterwards . Expecting that person to pass JAMB the next year with the same high scores when he didn’t see expo is definitely mission impossible .

PS: I am not saying with certainty the above was what happened , but I am only pointing to u the possibilities of what could’ve happened. I mean after all , at some point some of us thought Mmesoma was the real deal and JAMB wanted to rain on her parade
Expo for JAMB? I highly doubt this. Unless it's is WAEC or any other O'level exams.

The truth be say na from secondary school the matter dey get K leg

The farther away you go from sciences and Maths, the less options for you in good courses

A pure science student can come to your field to still.study your prime courses end up studying accounting, even law, but you cannot be an art student and ever study Engineering or Medicine but once you don go Art class you've boxed yourself into either Law or nothing

Nothing includes Philosophy Literature Secretariat studies, History, Mass communication etc
This is very true as I'm a living witness. I'm currently studying Psychology; this is after studying Maths at the same uni. I don't even study as much as I did in my younger days and I'm still on a good standing. I take my course mates tutorials on Stats courses and they see me as one kind of "god". These are courses in which you're expected to know in maths dept, it's basic.

Also, numerical courses are far more profitable than non-numerical ones. The more maths you know, the better your chance of making money- This is solely based on my observation so far.

Nowadays I think people have more materials and the teachers probably know more about the subjects

In my time na mostly older NCE people dey teach with a few older already married graduates wey do sandwich courses. Most of our teacher sef no fully understand those Physics and Maths well. Last last dem go teach you Avogadros law using Fuji music using textbooks written in 1960. Bunday, Godman, Lamcombes

In my time highest in Jamb is usually around 260 to 280

If you get luck and a smart dedicated Corper is posted to teach you, you will see the difference especially in science courses from the older permanent teachers

Nowadays because of the scarcity of jobs, younger Uni graduates are going into teaching, they understand better, have better resources and teach better
You've said it all.

During the time of Prof. Bello Ahmad Salim , people wey Dey score 300 no Dey pass 2 in the whole Nigeria . The first person may score 320 , second person 307 and third person 297 in the whole of Nigeria .

I know this because I saw two of such brochure where they will have pictures of the best 3 candidates in the last election .

I’m shocked over 12k are scoring above 300 nowadays .
You're right though.
At the bolded, it's the same way we have more first class graduates than in the past. Can we say students are getting smarter or it's due to improvement in technology?

Now u get .

Having over 12,000 candidates scoring above 300 is actually a big deal. It shows those that were serious actually passed really well . I mean most likely the serious students utilized the various learning resources available to get themselves good grades ; while those that failed did so woefully .
It's actually less than 1% of the population.

Individually, Salah scored 31 goals a season for Liverpool
Neither Rooney nor Drogba scored 31 league goals a season for their club

I'm sure everything Drogba won for Chelsea, Mikel too did. So who do we credit? Drogba Mikel, Essen, Terry, Lampard, Cech or cashley

You will probably list the seasons Drogba scored single digit goals but the effort of others scoring double digits won the league for Chelsea

It's like Darwin Nunez claiming his goals this season won the league for Liverpool
32 actually.

An interesting hustle for Naija teachers

From Chukwudi Iwuchukwu

I just learnt today that Nigerians living abroad hire lesson teachers from Nigeria to coach their kids going to school in the new environment where they just migrated.

One of the reasons driving this market of hiring a lesson teacher from Nigeria to teach a child living in the UK is because it is cheaper and more affordable to do so because of the exchange rate.

300k, for instance, is less than $200, so a lesson teacher living in Ogbunike, my village, and earning 300k for teaching just one child in the US, Igbo, biology, and chemistry is earning good and eating good too.

With that $200 budget, you can’t get a good private home tutor in the US.

And there exist many Nigerian lesson teachers with clients living abroad and their job description is simple

Wake up, prepare your lesson notes, log into zoom, coach your students, log out, sleep and the cycle continues the next day.

Some of these lessons teachers have 3-4 students living abroad that they coach every month.

A lucrative hustle it is.

Interesting times we live in.
I already thought about this too, when I understood the economics behind it, I wasnt perplexed again.

Lucrative hustle indeed, I know because its what I do although I have only one student currently.

Some of such people have never interacted with lecturers on a one-to-one level. First class students are the most scrutinised especially in their penultimate years. Lecturers can just decide give a far lower grade to scuttle one's chances for no just reason. So imagine coming across a tale that the student once bribed or slept with another lecturer or even a beautiful girl the lecturer might be eyeing or admire.

My senior friend who now works with NNPC had lower than expected/usual grades in his final year simply because he was about to be the first non-indigene to convoke with a first class from the department. This wasn't known to a few lecturers until his final year's first semester. This means if he had a negative past as per bribery, the momentum to reduce his future grades would have been higher. Even students who sort from first year to final year aren't assured of 2.1. above 4.0 let alone to be a first class graduate.

How do you do your online math tutoring, and which of them online or offline brings in the most revenue? Thanks, i'll be expecting your response.
Well, I use platforms like Google meet and zoom. As to which brings in more revenue, it depends on the client. Sometimes, offline can bring more income, other times, it's online.
One advantage online has over offline is it's convenience. Also, you don't have to worry about t-fare to your location.
So, it depends really.

Gerrard59:
I think I have narrated it here. Towards my graduation, I knew the entire process of applying for graduate trainee roles from tests to offers. Since I am pretty knowledgeable and can talk about anything, I knew that interviewing wouldn't be a problem. So let me focus on the other aspect - scaling the aptitude tests as I realised that many job seekers fall off of the competition at this stage. I beckoned on my close friend who eventually became the BGS of the entire faculty to practice McKinsey's Problem Solving Test. Out of 10 questions we arranged for ourselves, he got 6/10 while I got 2. That was when I realised that mathematics is essential as I also bought aptitude test packages on Assessment Day UK site. The test makers or companies don't want to know if one studied a math-based course or not. Pass it and get the job or not. So I had to rehearse mathematics beyond the statistics the biological course offered. I did this without calculators to build the reasoning better and faster.

Secondly, I am a big fan of economics and companies' remuneration packages. I discovered that the highest-paid employees and biggest revenue firms had one thing in common: they had a thing or two to do with STEM. When I see data that is irrefutable, I accept it. So the facts on ground made me conclude that those with math-based backgrounds go on to earn a lot of money as career/skilled professionals.
I see. It's because you are objective in reasoning. Some people still delude themselves.
