Gerrard59: The most lucrative career paths are math based. There are different high paying career paths immediately after tertiary education, some of which are: oil and gas, pilot, tech/programmers, finance etc. From being an aerospace engineer to an investment banker to computer scientist to a quant working in high-tech finance to artificial intelligence engineers to the geologist working in an oil field in the Arabian Desert. The highest-paying jobs have one thing in common: You must know mathematics. Not knowing it reduces your chances of earning a good salary. Unless you have the skills of a top athlete or entertainer, both of which are rare. However, not everyone can be a Tiwa Savage or Mikel Obi. Another outlier is being a salesperson as sales offer a much quicker route to lucrative earnings.
See a discussion on the best courses to study in the UK if one wants to earn a lot of money: https://www.reddit.com/r/FIREUK/comments/1bvmjrr/best_degreescareers_to_do_for_high_income/
Aside from law (especially from an elite university), most were math-based courses. Medicine is equally lucrative but it takes too long to gestate compared to say Mathematics. The global economy is fueled by science and technology. The biggest companies in the world by market capitalisation and revenue are largely in science and technology, and with AI, those grounded in hard core mathematics such as Physics and Mathematics, have a very high chance of earning a lot of money immediately after tertiary education.
P.S. Even in teaching, math teachers out-earn other subject teachers. I agree with everything you have said. This is pure facts. However, I want to ask, when did you come to this knowledge? Was it pre-university or after graduation? I'm asking because you've said you studied a biological course. At the bolded, very true because while I'm currently studying Psychology, I currently engage students in home-tutoring, both online and physical classes. I command a fee more than the regular because of my strong mathematics background( I've previously studied Maths). |

iamoyindamola: The issue is this man can't manage the team Same thing we face every season under him, why put your best midfielder in defense And he can't read game to manage situation, look at slot On 2 occasions now he salvage something for his team with impacting subs We have zinchenko on bench the guy can play midfield too, kiwi can also come in and partey play his natural position but no He must tweak and confused the players As a fan, what do you think is the way forward now? |

Gerrard59: I no wan cause unnecessary vitriol in this thread. If na my former self, I would have quoted his moniker so he would come to explain how this happened. The other time he questioned the legitimacy of Covenant University churning out a lot of first class graduates. Today, he and his cohorts cannot talk again as it is UNILAG - a first-rated federal university. Nothing is more public than that. Don't mind him. First class is first class. If you obtained it, it means you know what you're doing. It's not luck or chance. You can't buy your way to it. I doubt the guy even finished with at least a 2.1. |

Gerrard59: I saw the pictures on social media, but wondered why there has been no news on their total convocation numbers. UNILAG and I think CU always popularise their convocation news. Any outlet to know those folks from Cell & Genetics? With this new development, C&G have produced three 5.0 CGPA graduates - more than any other department. If this continues for a decade, then it defeats or questions the belief that quant based courses are easier to attain stellar grades.
Thanks for the mention, and please post any link where I can read their interviews, and most importantly, get their names. Yes oo, I'm begining to rethink my stand as data is proving otherwise. Unilag now has two 5.0 graduates from engineering( Omonuyi & Akanmu), but four 5.0 from non-quantitative courses. Yeah, I'm still looking for the interview, I've not seen yet, I'm surprised. I'm working on getting the convocation booklet so I can get their names. |

Gerrard59: The average Nigerian migrant in the US has GREATER CHANCES to earn 100K in the US than in Finland or Austria. These are non-English speaking countries with extremely FEW blacks in the general society, let alone the organised labour market. So, why should they be suggested over the US with an extremely diverse economy and greater participation of black people? Nigerians in the US are the wealthiest set of diasporans. How can someone mention Finland and Austria to Nigerians as places to migrate to over the US? Germany and Switzerland, I can understand. Austria and Finland over the US? Tufia!
How many Nigerians in Finland and Austria do you know or have you read that are doing well as career persons or entrepreneurs?
Honestly, I cannot believe I am debating the superiority of the US for relocation for Nigerians because of Finland and Austria. See, some countries are only good for the natives, and no one else. Finland and Austria fit the bill. Gerrard, Unilag has just held another convocation. Two 5.0 graduates this time from both department(Cell Biology& Genetics) interestingly. But I've not seen their interview yet. Have you? |
