Why do some of you guys ethnicize every little details and always gather sentiments to feel good? It's actually a sign of complicated inferiority complex. You feel the world sees you as substandard, so every little achievement must be broadcasted to dispute that perceived reputation. There are probably more than fifteen faculties in UI with students graduating year in, year out. Why does the result of a hardworking lady in one of those faculties and one if the donkey years be streamlined to boost the ego of a whole 40+ million people tribe?

Stop this self embarrassment. Believe me, if westerners consider schooling in the East, you yourself know the imminent implications. Lol.

There would be no Imminent implications we aren't quota system product. Alot of yorubas are schooling in UNN so plz shush....

Crime / Human Parts Uncovered In Oyo Building, Police Arrest Suspects. by bomb24: 6:19pm On Feb 09, 2022
Residents in a community in Oyo town have uncovered activities of suspected ritualists in an uncompleted building in the area.

Our correspondent gathered that those living close to the building, which is along the Oyo-Ilora Road, in the Oyo West Local Government Area, Oyo State, started combing the bushes after perceiving a foul odour.

They were said to have stumbled on decomposing human parts in the uncompleted building.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the discovery was reported at the Oyo West Police Station.
A resident, who identified himself simply as Lanre, told our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday that he was there when a police team visited the building, adding that some suspects had been arrested.

He said, “Three days ago, there was a stench from an uncompleted building and residents thought some persons were defecating in the place. But when they searched the area, a complete human arm was found and some other items that suggested that some persons had probably been killed there.

“The case was reported to the police in Oyo and they came and arrested some suspects. We were disturbed because the policemen that came did not allow us to take pictures of the human parts discovered there.

“We don’t want the case to be covered up. Many things are happening now. Human beings are daily being killed for rituals and if such a thing is discovered, I believe the police should do everything possible to expose those behind it.”

Another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that human bones and the school uniform of a child were found at the site, adding that the discoveries raised suspicions that the act might have been going on for a while.

He said, “Those living close to the site said they used to see a man riding a motorcycle to the place. They said the man used to work with a shovel in the building; they thought he was clearing debris, but did not know he was carrying out criminal activities there. Somebody later said that he knew the father of the motorcycle rider. The police came, saw those things and took them away. They also arrested some suspects.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, did not take his calls which rang out.

He had also yet to reply to a text message and chats sent to his telephone line on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
However, the Commandant of the Amotekun Corps in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd.), confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Ibadan, the state capital.

He said, “The information is true. I was told by my people that it was a decomposing body that was found there. The corpse was dismembered and the police arrested some suspects. I was not told that a school uniform was found there. The dismembered body was not fresh.

“Our men went there, but the suspects were arrested by the police; they are not with us. Since the body was dismembered, it suggests a ritual killing.”

You no get sense, forgetting I also understand the Igbo DIALECT.
Ugoloma is that bird that is black but has a white chest and looks like it wears singlet. That aside.

You no get sense at all.

The okoloma you hear is a phrase not the meaning of the bird curlew.
Okolo is curlew.
The "ma" at the end means "fly"
Curlew fly away =okolo'ma.
In Nembe my own dialect we call curlew okolain,
The ma at the end simply means "fly"
Your concorted lies does not add.
Stop displaying your foolery here.

It is also known as Okolo-ama (curlew-town)
Okolo like I said before means curlew, ama means town
Hence
Okolo-ama.
Wether OKOLOMA
OKOLOAMA

it's still the name of the town.

And as for ndoki, go and ask the Ndoki people about their ancestry, they'll tell you they are ijaw.
My Igbo maternal grandfather also knows about the full name aminadokiari, one of my in-laws is an ndoki man who I interviewed on Christmas Eve if he is truly ijaw by ancestry and he said yes(I even wrote an article about it) but you wouldn't believe, so I have a screenshot of an ndoki person in their group on Facebook. Enjoy ..

ijaw sewage clown! curlew in Igbo is called ugoloma. Okolo in your language is simply known as rooster, Dnt try to configure it to suit your narrative.

Ndoki Is Igbo QED.

U can keep fantasizing on your Ndoki is from central Ijaw blah blah while there spoken language and name continue's to be Igbo clown.

I read all of those above, and it is true there is internal strife in Bonny just as in any other clan or kingdom. warri has been there, even Nembe too has been there, Lagos and it's obaship has been there, the emirdom in Kano involving sanusi and ado bayero has been there too, so what is the noise all about?
what sort of us*less people are you all? are you all this jobless?
leave the kingdom to sort out their internal strife, you all should do same in your various communities in Igbo land.
I was shock to see posts from you people even dating back to 2009,2011 etc (I never even write waec sef) and I came to realise you all are old f**ls who are jobless but are busy constituting nuisance and propaganda. is it because there are no jobs In Nigeria?
can't you all join the Nigerian police or Army, or navy or airforce? anything...just stop being this jobless for crying out loud. you all even go as far as infiltrating groups on Facebook and comment nonesense so you'll come back here to screenshot it and celebrate like jobless f**ls. SOON THE INTERNAL STRIFE at Bonny will be over and things will be fine.

but I will leave this here.
(THE FOUNDERS OF BONNY FOUND THE PLACE TO BE FILLED WITH LOTS OF CURLEW BIRDS(OKOLO) ROOSTING AND WHEN THE BIRDS SAW THE PEOPLE INHABIT THE PLACE, THEY FLEW AWAY HENCE; OKOLOMA, MEANING CURLEW FLEW AWAY)

hahhahahaha dunder-head!

a "curlew" is called "igoloma/ugoloma In Igbo dialect of Ngwa/Ndoki Clan..

According to oral documentations alagbari-nye was Igbo of ngwa/ndoki clan who came from the Igbo hinter-land and settled/founded bonny Island. apparently from all indications Ugoloma was corrupted/mis-spelt to okoloma by the whites...

If the Ijaw claims of being one of the oldest tribes to settle at the coastal part of Nigeria in delta/bayelsa estuaries and coast they would have had a name for the curlew, as okolo in ijaw dialect simply means "roosting."
popularly known as chicken and chickens don't fly.!

1) If truly the settlement was called OKOLOAMA by the ijaws, the europeans weren't too dull to have omitted the "Ama" prefix from the word.

Ajayi crowther recorded it as okoloma not okolo-ama

two other european explorers also recorded it as okoloma and not okolo-ama.

So my question to you Alabo is what is a curlew called in ijaw language? because okolo in ijaw simply means rooster.

In Igbo land every bird of the sky has a name

Eagle - ugo

curlew - ugoloma

vulture - udene

hawk - Egbe

pigeon- nnunu

E.t.c

from all indications from the research, ugoloma ( curlew) was christined to okoloma. As the founder of bonny island was of Igbo and Ngwa/Ndoki stock.

Education / Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah: Government Should Encourage Nigerian Inventors by bomb24: 11:16am On Jan 25, 2022
RECENTLY, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’ Allah, called on the Federal Government to establish a mechanism for assessing Nigerian university professors to determine their contributions to the industry and national development.

Professor Na’Allah compared being a university professor with being conferred with a chieftaincy title whereby the professor may not do anything anymore afterwards.
At a different forum, while delivering a lecture at the second and third combined convocation ceremony of Mountain Top University, Ibafo, Ogun State, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, was point-blank, raising the same issue Professor Na’Allah addressed at the University of Abuja.

Governor Abiodun challenged Nigerian researchers in tertiary institutions in the country to find lasting solutions to the myriad of challenges, such as climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic, facing humanity.
Abiodun said the country is lagging behind when it comes to introducing disruptive technology.

But are Nigerians, whether in academia or outside the ivory towers, lacking in inventions and inventors? Does government encourage Nigerian inventors? Does government invest in, utilise, commercialise or expand on the inventions made, both by Nigerian professors and the not-too-educated? In the past year alone, a number of young Nigerians, including 17-year-old David Opateyibo, have built drones in which no government in Nigeria showed interest.
Some of those youths have since been snatched up by foreign countries. David Opateyibo is said to have been taken by a Finland-based company. We can also remember Jeremiah Abalaka, a surgeon-turned-immunologist, who insisted he developed a vaccine for HIV. Abalaka’s invention was so badly politicised that the man became frustrated and his invention died.

Why has a government, for instance, not turned the Ariaria Market and its ingenious artisans into an industrial hub? Because the government refused to make the local environment conducive for the commercialisation of the inventions by Nigerians, the inventors have continued to take their talents to Europe, America, and other foreign countries where they are valued. Today, in the USA, hundreds of patents for technological inventions are held by Nigerians.

Mr Cyprian Emeka Uzoh, the United States-based Nigerian from Anambra State, is listed among the world’s prominent inventors in the U.S. Uzoh is in the US’ records of “Prolific Inventors” with 328 patents to his credit! Another US-based Nigerian from Akwa Ibom, Patrick Usoro, has 203 issued patents.

Other Nigerian inventors who were forced by the unfriendly environment in Nigeria to take their inventive talents to the United States include Ndubuisi Ekekwe, who developed microchips used in minimally invasive surgical robots; Sebastine Chinonye Omeh, best known for his research into the use of wind-propelled turbines to generate electricity; Yemi Adesokan, who made the exceptional discovery on drug-resistant infections.

Other Nigerian-US based inventors are Professor Ume Ifeanyi Charles, Aloysius Anaebonam, Brino Gilbert; Emeka Nchekwube, a Nigerian-born neurosurgeon and many others. No doubt, the problem is not with Nigerian professors and inventors. Government should create an enabling environment for them here.

The Nigerian government must show sincerity in its quest for technological development of the country by investing in research and functional education.
It must put in place those same social, political and economic conditions that lure our inventors to other countries, especially steady power supply, employment opportunities and security of lives and property. It is quite unfair to continue to blame university professors and other Nigerians for the failure of government.

Politics / Victims Cry Out As Suspected Herdsmen Seize Delta Community by bomb24: 10:59am On Jan 25, 2022
It’s scandalous for police to deny invasion—Muoboghare

Fulani herdsmen chased us away, destroyed our crops – Mrs. Ighochureya, Eunice.

RESIDENTS of Port-Avwon, a community in Uwheru Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, who fled the town following invasion recently, by suspected herdsmen, have screamed from their sanctuaries that the invaders had overrun their homeland.
Police in the state had in reaction, debunked the claim that herdsmen invaded the community, but Uwheru Kingdom slammed the state Command for telling lies.

They’ve taken over our village – Mrs Igh ochureya

One of the residents who escaped from Port-Avwon village to Uwheru main town, Mrs Yellow Ighochureya, told NDV: “Herdsmen have taken over our village, the people are right there in Port-Avwon presently and they have destroyed our farm crops.

“Last year, they killed three of our indigenes in Avwon; this year, they have taken over the place and if we do not run away, they will kill us. That is why we have run here to Uwheru main town,” she added.

Fulani people drove us away – Eunice

Another resident of the village who gave her name as Eunice, said: “Fulani people have driven us from our community. Everybody has fled the community, we are calling on the government to help us to remove Fulani people from the community.”

They attack us every year–Chief Etagbedavwe, woman leader

The woman leader of the community, Chief (Mrs.) Christiana Etagbedavwe told NDV: “For many years, Fulani herdsmen have been troubling this town, killing our people, raping the women and destroying everything that we plant.

“These Fulani herdsmen put us in hunger and we have been crying to the government and you know in our community, 99 per cent of the people are farmers and farming is what sustains us, we do not have any company or higher institution.

“Every year after planting, Fulani herdsmen will come from their place and destroy our crops and put us into hunger and as farmers, we are trying to train our children and since Fulani herdsmen are destroying our farms, we cannot send them to school again because we cannot pay school fees and eat.

“This year, they have come again, the small things that we have planted since December 2021, they have come again and destroyed them, chasing people from their farms. We want the government to help us because this situation is very bad. Please we are begging the government to come to our aid,” she said.

Commissioner Muoboghare takes Police t o the cleaners.

Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, who responded to Police denial of invasion of the community by herdsmen and handover of an apprehended suspect to the Police, said: “The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, lied; he deliberately lied. If he was so sure that there was such a child, he should mention the name of the child and the parents to whom the child was handed over. Who are the parents of that child and who handed over the child?
“It is a shame, a very big shame that a Police officer can deny the fact that Fulani have invaded Uwheru community when everyone in the world knows that as we speak, they are there.
“Anybody, no matter how highly placed who says there is no invasion of Fulani herdsmen on Uwheru going on right now, is part of the planning of that invasion.

Earlier denial by the police

“This was how the Police Commissioner in 2020 denied that there were no killings in Uwheru by Fulani herdsmen until we were forced to swallow our pride; we went to the forest and exhumed the bodies from the shallow graves in which they were buried by the scoundrels and the whole world saw them.
“Till this moment, the Police have not owned up to the fact that in 2020, there were killings in Uwheru. Now, the same people have sent them to go and cause havoc in Uwheru.

Cover for invaders!

“They are from the Niger Republic, from Chad, they are Malians, but they are Fulanis and they have their people here who are protecting them.
“I take exception to that statement by the Police Public Relations Officer; it is an insult and he should be redeployed. Even the commissioner should be redeployed if he believes that kind of story,” Muoboghare fumed.

foryourmindnow:
Cannibalistic skull miners have eaten and used his skull for ritual. No respect for their oba

chai afonjas.

Jimoh Obabu Salau probably was born and grew up like most other Nigerian men of his age and generation. Unlike his contemporaries, however by the time Jimoh had joined the army and become a fully-fledged “mad dog” as we fondly call our uniformed men and women he had evolved into something very few people could have imagined. The problem was that Jimoh liked to eat. He liked to eat human beings, their internal organs to be precise. When the army sent him to fight alongside others in the Ecomog forces in the Liberia this was a perfect opportunity for Jimoh to get a steady supply of his favourite food. Alas as with all good things he over did it and was apprehended for killing and eating innocent civilians. In the best traditions of the military, they simply shipped him back home to Nigeria and gave him the boot from the Army leaving him free to eat some more of us.
Either due to circumstances or simply because women are a pain in the azz, he killed and ate the intestines of his wife and two children in 2003; he then sold the other parts of their bodies to people. Sadly, his wife was a police officer and was missed, he was promptly traced arrested and charged for the triple homicide. He was sentenced to death and was awaiting execution at the Kaduna prison. What happened next is not too clear but it seems it was decided by some “powerful people” that he was useful so he was PARDONED. And set free to eat some more of us.
Having learnt his lesson, that eating people that can be missed is not the brightest idea Jimoh relocated to Ogun state, in the southwest and eventually became an okada rider who chose a route that enabled him to take passengers to a motor park whilst passing through a bushy area. This was perfect for him, as he made sure that he had plenty of “meat” to eat and sell. Once again, luck ran out on him as some farmers saw him as he was killing a young 22-year-old student (Miss Idowu Aliyu) who he was taking to the motor park to catch a vehicle back to school. The farmers quickly rounded him up and called the cops. Sadly, the girl was dead. Jimoh is still being held by the police and has not yet been charged to court for this latest death.
The police believe that he has not been working alone and I agree. How many of you would like to bet that Jimoh would again be pardoned and freed to eat even more of us?

Crime / Monarch, 4 Aides Assassinated In Ogun by bomb24: 11:36pm On Jan 24, 2022
Unknown gunmen on Monday assassinated the traditional ruler of Agodo village in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, Oba Ayinde Odetola, and four of his aides.

It was gathered that the tragedy was the second of such wicked acts that happened in the community in the last few months.

Vanguard reliably gathered that Oba Ayinde Odetola and his four aides were assassinated, and burnt to ashes as soon as they entered the town around 11 am on Monday 24th January.
A reliable source who spoke with our Correspondent alleged that crisis began in the community as soon as late Ọba Odetola, who was from Ake dynasty was elected as the traditional ruler of the community, but the Owu people insisted that anybody from Ake cannot be their king.

Confirming the incident, one of the late monarch’s sisters, Chief (Mrs) Adenike Akintade lamented the heartless killing, of the traditional ruler and his aides, adding that the same people recently killed a younger brother of the late monarch.
“I had just been discharged from hospital early this morning, only to start mourning the brutal assassination of my brother”.

“Kabiesi called me on Saturday, urging me to reduce my activities, saying stress could contribute to my illness”.
“Oba Odetola lost his younger brother to the imbroglio some months ago; the young man was butchered by the so-called hoodlums. Today, Kabiesi is no more, what a world”, Akintade lamented.

Confirming the incident to Vanguard on the telephone, the Police spokesperson in Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said it was only the traditional ruler that was killed.
He said, after killing the traditional ruler, he was burnt with his car.
He said, the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has visited the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
He added that though no arrest has been made, the Commissioner of Police has directed that the matter should be transferred to the homicide section of the State Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.
Oyeyemi added that police operatives are on the trail of those who killed the monarch.

Crime / US Court Jails Nigerian For Fraud, Orders ₦439 Million Restitution by bomb24: 11:26pm On Jan 24, 2022
A US court has sentenced Nigerian, Shalom Olumide Ayotunde to 46 months in jail and ordered him to pay restitution in the amount of $1,067,000 (N439,113,180).
Ayotunde, 39, was sentenced by US District Judge Amos L. Mazzant, III on charges of passport fraud, false claim to US citizenship, wire fraud, and false statement to a financial institution.

He had pleaded guilty to the charges on July 1, 2021. The crimes were committed in the Eastern District of Texas.
In a statement by the US Department of Justice on Thursday, it was revealed that Ayotunde’s crimes were federal criminal offences.

According to court documents, in June 2018, Ayotunde provided false identifying information in his application for a US passport, and in doing so, also falsely claimed to be a US citizen.

Ayotunde was also involved in falsifying information in connection with numerous applications for Payment Protection Program loans, and ultimately received more than $1 million in fraudulent PPP loan proceeds.

Additionally, evidence showed that Ayotunde was part of a conspiracy to defraud companies through business email compromise schemes and acted as a money mule when he knowingly received and transferred proceeds of fraudulent activity.

Evidence showed that Ayotunde received or attempted to receive more than $800,000 in stolen funds.
A federal grand jury had returned an indictment charging Ayotunde with federal violations on November 13, 2020.
